Tyler Perry's House of Payne and Assisted Living Return; First Look at Wizards Beyond Waverly Place
It's a BET family fun night affair! Hit series Tyler Perry's House of Payne and Tyler Perry's Assisted Living come home to BET with back-to-back premieres airing Tuesday, August 13, starting at 9 PM ET/PT on BET and BET Her. Tyler Perry's House of Payne Season 11 airs on Tuesdays at 9 PM ET/PT on BET and BET Her. In season 11 of Tyler Perry's staple Comedy, "House of Payne," the Payne family goes through more of life's ups and downs and unexpected circumstances with grace and laughter while learning a host of life lessons. To start, Calvin, now a daily presence in Calvin Jr.'s life, is learning how to navigate raising a preteen who is testing the limits. Meanwhile, Calvin and Laura are on the outs, and he has no idea why. The only clue Laura left him is a "Dear John" letter that leaves him more clueless and confused. In his pursuit of answers, Calvin solicits help from the most unlikely source: Miranda. Soon, they both learn that Laura's discontent revolves around the very person helping Calvin investigate.
Tyler Perry's Assisted Living Season 5 airs on Tuesdays at 9:30 PM ET/PT on BET and BET Her. Season five of Tyler Perry's Assisted Living returns to the Pleasant Days Assisted Living Facility with heartfelt moments, genuine connections, and more hilarity as the residents navigate and overcome challenges with things like parenting, dating, and mental and physical health. Family drama kicks off the season, with Jeremy facing some tough family decisions. First, Jeremy and Philip have a disagreement, and Jeremy responds with toughness. As a result, Philip decides to run away from home. When everyone notices he's missing, they're all thrown into a panic, and Jeremy starts to question his parenting skills and if he's possibly being too hard on Philip.
Get a first-look at the newest Disney Channel series, Wizards Beyond Waverly Place! An in-production first-look was revealed during the Disney Channel premiere of Descendants: The Rise of Red. The piece features behind-the-scenes moments with the series lead cast, including David Henrie and Janice LeAnn Brown, as well as executive producer and guest star Selena Gomez. Fans of the franchise can also spot a familiar face, David DeLuise, who is returning to guest star as the Russo family patriarch, Jerry Russo.
Wizards Beyond Waverly Place follows an adult Justin Russo, who has chosen to lead a normal, mortal life with his family, Giada, Roman and Milo. When Justin's sister Alex brings Billie to his home seeking help, Justin realizes he must dust off his magical skills to mentor the wizard-in-training while also juggling his everyday responsibilities - and safeguarding the future of the Wizard World. The series stars David Henrie (as Justin Russo), Janice LeAnn Brown (as Billie), Alkaio Thiele (as Roman Russo), Max Matenko (as Milo Russo), Taylor Cora (as Winter) and Mimi Gianopulos (as Giada Russo). Selena Gomez (as Alex Russo) will guest star in the first episode.

Hulu's Woke Returns for Season 2 on April 8; Tyler Perry Sitcoms Move to Wednesdays on BET

In the new season, the Wilson family tries to cope with witnessing Lindor being arrested and roughed up by the police. Jeremy steps in as a father figure to help Lindor through this awful process, while Sandra and Philip struggle with their own feelings about the incident. Meanwhile, Mr. Brown and Vinny learn a few lessons about money, and everyone at the facility looks forward to celebrating a Wilson family milestone with Sandra graduating from high school.

NBC Orders Night Court Revival to Pilot; House of Payne and Assisted Living Return May 25 and Ordered for Additional Season
NBC has ordered the Night Court revival script to a pilot order. So, if it gets picked up to series, we will have Night Court back on NBC once again sometime in 2021-22, nearly 30 years after the series ended in 1992. Based on the original series created by Reinhold Weege, unapologetic optimist judge Abby Stone (series star Melissa Rauch), the daughter of the late Harry Stone, follows in her father's footsteps as she presides over the night shift of a Manhattan arraignment court and tries to bring order to its crew of oddballs and cynics, most notably former night court prosecutor Dan Fielding (series star John Larroquette). No word on if any of the other original cast members will make appearances, which include Markie Post, Richard Moll, Charles Robinson and Marsha Warfield. A few members of the cast of Night Court (the late Harry Anderson, Markie Post, and Charles Robinson) reunited on an episode of 30 Rock back in 2008.
A true multi-hyphenate, Ms. Rauch is coming off the hit CBS/Warner Bros. TV comedy series The Big Bang Theory, which celebrated its final season in 2019. After The Big Bang Theory, Melissa appeared in Steven Soderbergh's The Laundromat, alongside Meryl Streep, as well as Ode to Joy, opposite Martin Freeman. John Larroquette most recently joined the cast of The Good Fight on CBS All Access, and starred on the CBS comedy series Me, Myself & I. He has recurred on ABC on both The Practice and Boston Legal. His work on The Practice garnered Larroquette two of his seven total Emmy nominations and one of his five wins. The others were for his previous work on NBC's Night Court, which enjoyed a nine-season run for a whopping 193 episodes from 1984-1992. Larroquette won four consecutive Emmys for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series for his portrayal of Dan Fielding from 1985 to 1988, before withdrawing his name from the ballot in 1989. Night Court itself was nominated for Outstanding Comedy Series three times (1985, 1987, and 1988). Night Court scribe Dan Rubin's credits include his tenure for the full-run of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt (where he was nominated for four Emmys and three WGA awards). He continued his work with Tina Fey and the Kimmy Schmidt producers, working on their latest project Mulligan over at Netflix. He also recently served as a Co-Executive Producer on Fox's series Outmatched. Other credits include Happy Endings, Scrubs, Worst Week and The Michael J. Fox Show.

New episodes of Tyler Perry's House of Payne season eight and Tyler Perry's Assisted Living season two return Tuesday, May 25, starting at 9 PM ET/PT on BET and BET Her. Executive Produced by Tyler Perry, House of Payne and Assisted Living occupied the #1 and #2 spots for comedy series on cable for African Americans 18-49, 25-54 in the calendar year 2020, respectively. In anticipation of their premieres, BET has green-lit Tyler Perry's House of Payne for a ninth season and Tyler Perry's Assisted Living for a third season.

Fri-Yay: The Lasting Impact of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air; BET Sets Premiere Date for Tyler Perry's House of Payne and Assisted Living

Recently, as I've been stuck in the house more often, I've been rewatching some old sitcoms in syndication since I've watched many of the sitcoms on streaming services over and over again. I've also been browsing the app TikTok, which as you probably know is very popular with teenagers and young adults. I've noticed that some sitcoms that are aging remain very popular with younger generations today, and one of those sitcoms is The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. I've been watching Fresh Prince in reruns on VH1, for the first time in about a decade, and I'm struck by how timeless the show feels, which is likely why it remains so popular.
Fresh Prince was at its heart a "fish out of water" story that smartly dealt with class differences. The show was upfront about these differences in a way sitcoms typically aren't, never forgetting how Will's background was so different than his uncle, aunt and cousins. Class issues are a very relevant and popular topic among the younger generation today, and Fresh Prince's upfront stance on these issues might be a reason why it's endured. Additionally, Fresh Prince was a sitcom with an entirely black cast (which is actually less common on TV today than it was 25 years ago) and was also very upfront in issues dealing with race - issues such as racism and police profiling were covered on Fresh Prince in raw and real ways. These are obviously issues that have been very "front and center" in today's society and this year especially, so for a 25 year old sitcom to be tackling those issues, again, helps it stay fresh for future generations. And, not to forget - the show's humor genuinely still feels fresh. Will Smith is a strong comedic actor (something he himself has seemingly forgotten) and the jokes are fast and furious. Sometimes they don't flow too well with the dramatic moments, but this was a common issue in '90s sitcoms, and it can be forgiven. I spend a lot of time talking about modern sitcoms on this blog, but sometimes it's worth it to take a look back at the shows that did and didn't stand the test of time, and Fresh Prince is one that definitely did. I might make this a regular feature and look back every so often at some past sitcoms and analyze why they did - or didn't - stand the test of time.

Anthony Brown) has foolishly purchased a terribly run-down home for the elderly and he is in way over his head, but comedy ensues as Mr. Brown (David Mann) and Cora (Tamela Mann) show up at the right time as needy investors. Tyler Perry's Assisted Living stars David Mann as Mr. Brown, Tamela Mann as Cora, J. This past week, two truly great sitcoms came to an end - The Good Place and BoJack Horseman. Interestingly enough, both shows have a lot in common despite seeming very different. Both shows are comedies that deal with bigger moral questions than most other comedies. Both shows have a likable cast of characters that we root for despite the fact that they aren't always their best selves. And both shows ended in a way that was very satisfying while also totally making sense for their characters.
I'm not going to spoil the finale for either show, but I will say that it was interesting that in the span of just a few days, there were two finales of shows I loved that dealt with how to be a good person even if you have to work for it. Both shows were stories of redemption, of being a better person and working to be a better person. I'll miss both of them, but I'm so happy that they existed and ended so, so well.

ABC to Air Special 4 Week Edition of Dancing with the Stars; House of Payne Spin-off Premieres Jan. 16 on OWN
ABC's Dancing with the Stars sets its sights on the sports world when it returns with a special all-athletes edition in the spring of 2018. Ten athletes from all corners of the sports world will be teamed up with the show's professional dancers and compete on the ballroom floor for a chance to win the coveted Mirrorball trophy. Hosted by two-time Emmy(R)-winning host Tom Bergeron and Erin Andrews, the special all-athletes edition of Dancing with the Stars will air live. The athletes will perform choreographed dance routines that are judged by a panel of renowned ballroom experts, as well as viewer votes. This special edition will premiere in late April 2018 and last for a month, according to Tom Bergeron. American Idol will likely be airing Sunday and Monday nights this Spring, so Dancing will only air four weeks in Spring. A "regular sized" 10 week season will return in Fall 2018. More info to come when ABC announces its 2018 mid-season schedule and plans.
OWN's new Tyler Perry comedy The Paynes will have its series premiere on Tuesday, January 16 with two back-to-back episodes at 10:00 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. ET/PT. The Paynes, a spin-off of beloved Perry comedy House of Payne, follows Ella and Curtis Payne (Cassi Davis and LaVan Davis) through the ups and downs of retirement. The series also stars Emmy-winning actress Jackée Harry (227, Sister, Sister). Additionally, Perry's hit drama series The Haves and the Have Nots, starring Tika Sumpter and John Schneider, will return for a fifth season on Tuesday, January 9 at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT and drama series If Loving You is Wrong will return with all-new episodes on a new day and time, Wednesday, January 10 at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT.
The Paynes (Series Premiere Tuesday, January 16 at 10 p.m. ET/PT; moves to regular timeslot Saturdays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on January 20). In Tyler Perry's new comedy series, The Paynes, Cassi Davis and LaVan Davis reprise their roles as Ella and Curtis Payne, from the hit series House of Payne. As Curtis and Ella are enjoying their retirement, a death in the family takes them on the road to Florida, where Curtis is roped into a real estate deal that will tumble their lives like clothes in a dryer - with plenty of laughs and life lessons along the way. The Paynes also stars Emmy-winner Jackeé Harry, Stephanie Charles, Markice Moore, JD McCrary, Sanai Victoria and Anthony O. Dalton.

Continuing its successful partnership with prolific producer Tyler Perry, OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network announced a 38-episode order for a new comedy series from Perry, The Paynes, a spinoff of his popular series House of Payne. The network has also ordered 44 additional episodes of Perry's hit OWN drama series The Haves and the Have Nots and 18 episodes of If Loving You is Wrong.
Written, directed and produced by Tyler Perry, The Paynes meets back up with Curtis and Ella Payne (stars LaVan Davis and Cassi Davis reprising their roles) who are trying to enjoy their retirement in Florida only to get roped into a real estate deal that will tumble their lives like clothes in a dryer. The series also stars Jackée Harry, Stephanie Charles, Markice Moore, JD McCrary and Sanai Victoria. The comedy has begun production at the new Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta and will premiere on OWN in 2018.
Additionally, the network announced the final seasons of Perry's popular comedy series Love Thy Neighbor and For Better or Worse, which will both move to Saturday nights. Love Thy Neighbor will premiere its fourth season on Saturday, March 4 with back-to-back episodes at 9 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. ET/PT. For Better or Worse will premiere its sixth season on Saturday, June 10 with back-to-back episodes at 9 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. ET/PT. Both series will air through 2017 with 22 and 20 episodes respectively.

BET Airs Carmichael Show Marathon; Bones to End After Next Season
NBC's second season sitcom The Carmichael Show is returning with a special preview airing on Wednesday, March 9, before moving to its regular night and time on Sunday, March 13, but before that... BET will be airing a marathon of the first season. The season one marathon will air on Friday, March 11 from 7pm-10pm. The sitcom will be sandwiched in between blocks of sitcoms House of Payne (4-7pm) and Martin (10pm-12am). In this sitcom, inspired by the life of comedian Jerrod Carmichael, the series follows Jerrod and his opinionated North Carolina family as they navigate topics that all families face today in America. Nothing is too uncomfortable to explore, including police protests, guns and religion. Jerrod often finds himself debating such issues with his old-school father, Joe (David Alan Grier), his devoutly religious mother, Cynthia (Loretta Devine), his progressive live-in girlfriend, Maxine (Amber Stevens West), his recently separated brother, Bobby (Rel Howery), and Bobby's estranged and outspoken wife, Nekeisha (Tiffany Haddish). And somewhere in the middle of all of their disagreeing is the heart of this family.
Bones, the long-running comedic procedural beloved by millions of fans around the world, will return for a final farewell 12th season on Fox in 2016-17. The 12-episode run will celebrate the inventive series and bring the storylines of Brennan (Emily Deschanel), Booth (David Boreanaz) and the Jeffersonian-FBI team to a close, allowing the show's loyal fans to say goodbye to these indelible characters. When Bones ends its run, the series will have completed 246 original episodes, making it one of the longest running Fox series ever. Bones returns for its spring premiere on Thursday, April 14 at 8:00PM ET/PT on Fox. Picking up after the explosive fall finale, the all-new episode, "The Death in the Defense," finds Hodgins (TJ Thyne) eight weeks into his rehabilitation and forced to navigate life in a wheelchair. Meanwhile, Brennan and Booth investigate the death of a public defender who had multiple defendants from previous cases with motives to kill her.
In the series, Brennan, a highly skilled forensic anthropologist who works at the Jeffersonian Institute in Washington, D.C. and writes novels on the side, and her FBI partner, Booth, have taken on cases other law enforcement can't solve and proven to be a formidable partnership, both at work and at home. Over the course of the series, Brennan has devoted herself to her career, to Booth, with whom she's had two children, and to her team at the Jeffersonian. They include best friend Angela Montenegro (Michaela Conlin), an artist who specializes in reconstructing facial features and crime scenes; Angela's husband, Hodgins, a conspiracy theorist and expert on insects, spores and minerals, who is affectionately known as "the slime and bug guy"; Dr. Camille "Cam" Saroyan (Tamara Taylor), the street-smart and centered coroner; and Booth's most recent colleague at the FBI, Special Agent James Aubrey (John Boyd), a young, intrepid FBI agent with a voracious appetite for solving crime, junk food and career advancement.
Utilizing a wide swathe of skills, and using human remains as their roadmap, this exceptional team has cracked some of the toughest cases to cross their lab tables and, in the process,escaped near-death experiences on multiple occasions. Inspired by real-life forensic anthropologist and novelist Kathy Reichs, the series also has explored more ways for human remains to have been discovered than ever thought imaginable. With Brennan leading the way as the top professional in the field of forensic anthropology, Bones has inspired young girls around the world to consider a career in science. At the same time, having stacked up more episodes than the number of bones in the human body (206!), the series has helped viewers distinguish between the patella (kneecap) and the phalanges (bones in human fingers).

BET Acquires House of Payne for November; Gilmore Girls Premieres on UP Tonight
BET has acquired the off-network cable rights to the Tyler Perry sitcom House of Payne. The sitcom will launch with a launch marathon on Sunday, November 1, 2015 from 12pm-9pm. Then beginning Monday, November 2, the series joins the regular line-up with fellow sitcom Martin and The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air in daytime. House of Payne will air weekdays 8-9am and 12:30pm-1:30pm, along with some weekend blocks. Recent acquisition Martin will continue to air weekdays 2:30pm & 3pm and evening blocks beginning at 6pm. The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air is airing weekdays 9-10am and 1:30pm-2:30pm. In late night, BET will continue to alternate with blocks of The Jamie Foxx Show and The Wayans Bros. starting at 2am. BET is airing Scandal Saturday nights at 1am and 2am and will also air the latest season five premieres on Sundays at 11pm, a few weeks after they premiere on ABC. UP has more, more, more Gilmore Girls. The network's recently announced acquisition of the full 153 episode, seven-season run of Gilmore Girls (#GilMOREGirls) was celebrated with an all-day fan-focused marathon of the award-winning family drama yesterday (Sunday, October 4) at 10am EDT. Starting tonight at 7 p.m. EDT, the series will begin airing back-to-back episodes every Monday through Friday starting with the pilot episode. Lorelai owns the town's bed-and-breakfast, the Dragonfly Inn, with best friend/chef Sookie (McCarthy), and contends with weekly dinners with eccentric, well-off parents Richard (Edward Herrmann) and Emily Gilmore (Kelly Bishop) who always have something to say about their daughter's life.

TBS October 2012 Schedule; ABC Family Renews Melissa & Joey and Baby Daddy
A few weeks ago, we revealed the TBS fall schedule for the last two weeks of September. There will be a few minor changes coming to the lineup starting October 1 for days where there are no games being aired for the MLB Playoffs. There won't be anything new added to the lineup in October, nor will there be anything leaving the lineup. For the most part, the schedule changes involve My Name is Earl moving to other timeslots and shuffling of a few other program.
The weekday changes begin at 7am, where an episode of My Name is Earl will air, followed by an hour of Home Improvement at 7:30am. According to Jim also still gets a full hour, but it'll be a half hour earlier at 8:30am. Are We There Yet?, which will begin airing weekdays this fall, moves from 12:30pm to 9:30am, and is followed by an hour of Tyler Perry sitcoms with Meet the Browns at 10am and House of Payne at 10:30am. Fresh Prince of Bel-Air will still have three airings on weekdays, but now they'll all be back-to-back with three episodes beginning at 11am. At 12:30pm, American Dad! will have a full hour, which will be followed by two hours of Everybody Loves Raymond, which will start at 1:30pm instead of 2pm. This leaves 3:30pm for an extra airing of Seinfeld. The lineup for the rest of the day on weekdays remains the same through 2am, where an hour of My Name is Earl replaces an hour of Seinfeld.
Saturday mornings will see some changes beginning at 7am. In September, there is a two and a half hour block of My Name is Earl scheduled beginning at 7am, but in October, 7am will change to a single episode of My Name is Earl, followed by According to Jim at 7:30am, Are We There Yet? at 8am, Meet the Browns at 8:30am, House of Payne at 9am, and another episode of According to Jim at 9:30am. Seinfeld, which currently airs for a full hour at 7pm on Saturdays, will be replaced with an extra hour of King of Queens, which will now air for two full hours beginning at 6pm every Saturday. Finally, Sundays remain pretty much the same, but the two hours of Tyler Perry sitcoms at 6am will be replaced with an hour of Married... with Children at 6am and an hour of Home Improvement at 7am.

On Friday, we featured a story on the impressive ratings for the ABC Family original series Melissa & Joey and Baby Daddy... so it should be no surprise that the network announced new seasons for both series on Friday afternoon. After launching a successful Wednesday night comedy block with Melissa & Joey and Baby Daddy, cable TV’s #1 telecasts in their half-hours across the network’s core Adults 18-34, Adults 18-49 and Millennial demos, ABC Family has ordered a third season of Melissa & Joey and a second season of Baby Daddy.
Melissa & Joey stars Melissa Joan Hart as Mel, a successful Congresswoman in Toledo who unexpectedly gains custody of her niece and nephew after her sister is sent off to prison after a financial scheme gone horribly wrong. Needing all the help she can get, she hires unemployed Joe (Joey Lawrence) to be her "manny" to move into her house and take care of all of the domestic matters. The multi-camera comedy executive-produced by Bob Young and David Kendall, Paula Hart, Melissa Joan Hart, Joey Lawrence and John Ziffren. Baby Daddy follows Ben (Jean-Luc Bilodeau), a young man in his early 20s living the life of a bachelor as a bartender in New York City with his buddy, Tucker (Tahj Mowry), and his brother, Danny (Derek Theler), a professional hockey player. Everything is going fine for the guys until a baby girl is unexpectedly dropped on their doorstep by one of Ben's ex-girlfriends. With a little help from his friends and family, Ben decides to raise her the best that he possibly can. Baby Daddy is a multi-camera comedy created and executive-produced by Dan Berendsen.
Additionally, ABC Family has announced that will also produce a second season of the award-winning hit series Switched at Birth, and they have ordered additional episodes of the critically-acclaimed series Bunheads.

TBS Fall 2012 Schedule Has Are We There Yet?; Frasier Returns to Lifetime
Welcome to the 2012 edition of our annual look at the fall schedules for cable and digital TV! We are launching this schedule barrage with TBS! They will be making changes to their sitcom line-up starting Monday, Sept. 17. The newest addition to the weekday line-up will be a strip of Are We There Yet? The sitcom will now air five days a week...and with brand new episodes that have never been aired. The series, which stars Terry Crews (Everybody Hates Chris) and Essence Atkins (Half and Half), is produced by Revolution Studios and Cube Vision and distributed by Debmar-Mercury. In addition to executive producing, Ice Cube plays a recurring guest starring role. After being a hit for its first 10 episodes, TBS ordered 90 episodes, but the sitcom has not aired in primetime since May 2011 after airing 36 episodes of the 90 episode order. Now the series is entering syndication this fall on both local channels (check your local listings, WWOR in NYC will air it at 11am) and TBS and they both will air the remaining all-new episodes. That will be around 54 brand new episodes.
Before we get into the TBS timeslot for Are We There Yet?, we'll discuss the full changes for TBS this fall. The schedule changes will be made for weekdays 7am-2pm. The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air will be moving to the earlier 7am hour, as it and Home Improvement will switch hours. The Tim Allen comedy will now air an hour later in the 8am hour. At 9am, According to Jim moves to an earlier hour with back-to-back episodes replacing an episode each of Fresh Prince and House of Payne. TBS will make 10am-1pm their African-American sitcom block. Another episode of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air will air at 10am leading into back-to-back House of Payne at 10:30am and 11am. At 11:30am, we have an episode of Meet the Browns, which will lead into the off-network premiere of Are We There Yet? at 12 noon. And the African-American block closes at 12:30pm with another Meet the Browns. The 1pm hour will be just a timeslot switch, with now My Name is Earl leading off the hour and American Dad! closing the hour.
The rest of the weekday schedule will remain intact from 2pm-6am. We have a block of Everybody Loves Raymond from 2-4pm, then Friends from 4-6pm, leading into an hour each of King of Queens at 6 and Seinfeld at 7. Primetime will remain the same from 8-11pm with Family Guy, The Big Bang Theory, movies, and House of Payne and For Better or Worse on Friday nights. Late nights will still have Conan at 11, leading into an hour of The Office at midnight. Then at 1am, there is an encore of Conan leading into two episodes of Seinfeld at 2am. 3-5am will see a movie, with the a filler of Married...with Children here and there, but that sitcom airs 5-7am still. On Saturdays, the only schedule change will be a Saturday airing of Are We There Yet? at 9:30am replacing one airing of the My Name is Earl block, which will remain from 7-9:30am. Later in the day, The King of Queens moves from 4-5pm to 6-7pm, as Friends will now air from 4-6pm on Saturdays as well.
Later this year in primetime, TBS will also debut the original scripted comedy series Wedding Band, followed in early 2013 by the premiere of Cougar Town, now a TBS original series. TBS will also air a season two of Men at Work in 2013.

Frasier is returning to Lifetime today! After leaving the schedule in March 2011, the sitcom is now back on the cable network. As a result, WE tv will no longer air the series. However, The Hallmark Channel will still air it, so both Lifetime and Hallmark will now share the rights. Lifetime will air the series in lieu of them losing the rights to Reba, which are now at ABC Family and CMT. Frasier will be airing on Lifetime weekdays from 9-11am, which starts today. Starting next Monday, the sitcom will also air Monday evenings from 4:30pm-8pm replacing the Reba Monday block. Today in that block, Lifetime is airing a Trading Spouses marathon from 12-8pm.
Frasier will air in between Will & Grace (8-9am) and Old Christine (11am-1pm). As for WE tv, they were airing Frasier weekdays 2-4pm but stopped after July 31, as their rights now go to Lifetime. TV Land To Bring Back The Jeffersons, Boston Legal From Hiatus, Books 10th Annual TV Land Awards; TBS Orders More For Better Or Worse, Cancels Browns
We hinted late last week that TV Land will bring back two series to the schedule. We can now reveal what they are! First, they will not be airing in high profile timeslots, but it will be good to see them airing, I guess. First up, TV Land will bring back The Jeffersons from hiatus and will air it Mon-Thurs at 5:30am starting Monday, March 5, 2012. The long-running 70s/80s sitcom will replace one of the Home Improvement encores (on Fridays at 5:30am will now be an extra Three's Company airing). What about the second series? That will be the comedic legal drama Boston Legal starring James Spader and William Shatner. The shat-tastic series will air Fridays at 8am beginning Friday, March 30, 2012. It will be replacing an airing of Murder, She Wrote, which will remain Mon-Thurs at 8am and weekdays at 1pm. There will be no other schedule changes in March or April on TV Land, as of now.
We do have some highlights to share. TV Land will have a week-long marathon of The King of Queens from Monday, April 2 through Sunday, April 8 from 9pm-12am each night. This means the regular Everybody Loves Raymond airings will air from 12-2am instead for this week only. TV Land movies now air on weekends (mostly Saturdays at 2pm) and for March the movies airing are: Miss Congeniality, A League of Their Own, Legends of the Fall, and When Harry Met Sally. As of now, TV Land is not airing movies in April. And finally, probably the most anticipated event of the year for TV Land are the annual TV Land Awards. We can reveal that TV Land will air the 2012 TV Land Awards (the 10th Annual TV Land Awards!) on Sunday, April 22, 2012 at 9pm. The awards will likely tape on Saturday, April 14 (probably in NYC for the second straight year). We will have MUCH more on this when further information is announced. What series will reunite this year after we saw many last year like Welcome Back Kotter, The Cosby Show, Facts of Life and Family Ties. Perhaps the remaining cast members of Three's Company now that Joyce DeWitt and Suzanne Somers have made up will reunite? We shall soon see, but it makes perfect sense as that series will be celebrating its 35th anniversary in March. And to connect it even more, series star the late John Ritter hosted the very first TV Land Awards back in 2002. As of now, TV Land has not booked a special marathon event for Three's Company like it did for the 25th and 30th anniversaries. All we can say is, stay with us for further information!
TBS has ordered 35 additional episodes of the top-rated dramedy Tyler Perry's For Better or Worse, which finished its first season as basic cable's #1 sitcom of 2011. The series from writer-director-executive producer Tyler Perry focuses on three couples at various stages of their relationships. The ensemble cast includes Tasha Smith, Michael Jai White, Crystle Stewart, Kent Faulcon, Kiki Haynes and Jason Olive. Tyler Perry's For Better or Worse will return to its Friday night timeslot this summer.
Tyler Perry's For Better or Worse is produced by Tyler Perry Studios and distributed by Debmar-Mercury. The show premiered on TBS Friday, Nov. 25, 2011, averaging 2.9 million viewers and 1.6 million adults 18-49 for its 10-episode debut season. It finished the year as basic cable's #1 sitcom of 2011 and the #1 show on all of television with African-American adults. Tyler Perry's For Better or Worse follows the ups-and-downs of marriage and dating. The show centers on Angela Williams (Smith), the owner of a successful beauty salon, and her husband of 13 years, Marcus (White). Marcus is a former professional football player who has recently partnered with Richard Ellington (Faulcon) and Joseph Jetson (Olive) on a new sports news program called C-Sports Now. Marcus's business relationship with Richard and Joseph is complicated, however, by the fact that Richard is dating Keisha (Haynes), Marcus's ex-girlfriend and the mother of his teenage daughter. In addition, Joseph's girlfriend, successful real estate agent Leslie (Stewart), is Angela's best friend, which sometimes makes it difficult for the couples to keep their business and private lives from mingling.
In addition to its episode order for Tyler Perry's For Better or Worse, TBS recently announced that this summer, the network will premiere the new sitcoms Men at Work, starring Danny Masterson, James Lesure, Michael Cassidy and Adam Busch, and Sullivan and Son, starring comedian Steve Byrne. Also this year, TBS will launch The Wedding Band, a new one-hour comedy series starring Brian Austin Green, Harold Perrineau, Peter Cambor and Derek Miller, Melora Hardin, Jenny Wade and Kathryn Fiore. As a result, TBS has canceled Meet the Browns after five seasons (140 total episodes). The final episode aired on November 18. TBS will continue to air House of Payne, which is in its eighth season (250 episodes) and airs Fridays at 9pm.

TBS Moves Tyler Perry Sitcoms To Fridays, Big Bang Now Tues-Thurs; TV Guide Magazine Honors 60th Anniversary of I Love Lucy
Effective next Wednesday (Oct. 19), new episodes of the Tyler Perry sitcoms will move from Wednesday to Friday nights. A block of Family Guy will now air Wednesdays in primetime from 8-10pm, with an hour of The Big Bang Theory following from 10-11pm. In fact, from Mon-Thurs, TBS will now only showcase these two comedies in primetime. TBS has been promoting during the MLB Playoffs that The Big Bang Theory starts on TBS on Oct. 18, but it actually started last month. Unless they meant the new Tues-Thurs schedule. The Big Bang Theory will air Tuesdays 8-11pm, Wednesdays 10-11pm, and Thursdays 9-11pm. The sitcom will still get Saturday plays as well airing 6-8pm. As for the Tyler Perry comedies, Meet the Browns will air in primetime on Friday nights from 8-9pm. Then from 9-10pm, it is an hour of House of Payne. Repeats of these series will continue to air weekday mornings from 9:30am-11:30am, with two episodes of each comedy.

The project comes to TBS from Vaughn's Wild West Picture Show Productions and Warner Horizon Television. The pilot is being written by Byrne and executive producer/showrunner Rob Long (Cheers). Set to begin shooting later this year, Sullivan and Son takes place in a popular and legendary neighborhood bar in a working-class neighborhood in Pittsburgh, Penn. Filled with locals and regulars, Sullivan & Son is the unofficial "town hall" to the neighborhood.
In addition to TBS's pilot order for Sullivan and Son, the network recently announced it is moving forward on an untitled half-hour comedy pilot that centers on a family man who quits his day job and returns to the neighborhood where he grew up. There, he reunites with his former best friend. The multi-camera sitcom from Conaco and Warner Horizon Television is being executive-produced by David Kissinger, Conan O'Brien and Jeff Ross, along with the pilot's writers, Ben Wexler, Ross Novie and Jay Rondot. Wexler will also serve as the showrunner for the untitled pilot. TBS has also greenlit a pilot for Men at Work, an ensemble, multi-camera comedy about a recently dumped man whose three best friends help him reinvent his manhood. The project comes to TBS from Sony Pictures Television and executive producers/writers Breckin Meyer and Jamie Tarses. We will let you know if these three multi-camera sitcom pilots make it to a series order, so stay tuned.

In a one of a kind exhibit, TV Guide Magazine is partnering with The Paley Center for Media to present Loving Lucy, a celebration of 60 years of I Love Lucy and Lucille Ball's Centennial until November 27, 2011 in New York City. It started on Sept. 28. TV Guide Magazine documented Lucille Ball's life in Hollywood like no other magazine, featuring her on more covers than any other star in the magazine's history. Now, in partnership with The Paley Center, they have developed a multi-dimensional exhibit to celebrate the TV icon. TV Guide Magazine Creative Director Jeff Hardy designed the exhibit highlighting the 43 memorable TV Guide Magazine covers and captions for each with additional information from the issue and The Paley Center contributed exclusive footage for specially designed screenings. Loving Lucy takes guests through the history of Lucy and Desi's marriage, the birth of their children, her success with running Desilu, and the challenges of balancing career and home life.

TBS Orders New Series From Tyler Perry, Ends 'Payne'; MeTV Network Presents Not-So-Royal Weddings
More Tyler Perry comedy is coming to TBS, but this time not a multi-camera family comedy. TBS has ordered 10 episodes of the new series Tyler Perry's For Better or Worse from Tyler Perry Studios. The dramedy, based on Perry's hit Why Did I Get Married? films, marks the third Tyler Perry series to come to TBS, which is also home to Tyler Perry's House of Payne and Meet the Browns. As with House of Payne and Meet the Browns, syndication will be sold by Debmar Mercury.
Tyler Perry's For Better or Worse follows the ups-and-downs of married life for Marcus and Angela, two characters who originated in the feature films Why Did I Get Married and Why Did I Get Married Too? Michael Jai White (The Dark Knight) and Tasha Smith (Couples Retreat) are set to reprise the roles of television anchor Marcus and salon owner Angela. Additional cast members will be announced at a later date.
For Better or Worse marks a new direction for Tyler Perry's television properties. Unlike his family-oriented sitcoms, For Better or Worse will target young adults. Production on the series is slated to begin this summer at Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta. As of now, it will be a half-hour/single-camera production. Stay tuned for a premiere date as soon as we know, but it looks like it will premiere in fourth quarter.
Meanwhile, Tyler Perry's House of Payne will end its run after seven seasons on the air later this year. Meet the Browns will continue to air as that started only in 2009, but has over 100 episodes already. House of Payne will be nearing 200 episodes.
For viewers looking for more wedding fun after Will & Kate say their 'I do's,' MeTV Network is the place to be to watch more walks down the aisle! After Prince William and Kate tie the knot, tune in to the MeTV Network for a slew of hilariously "Not-So-Royal Weddings," this Sunday (May 1) starting at 11:00am ET. You'll see the weddings of Betty Jo (Petticoat Junction), Ted & Georgette (The Mary Tyler Moore Show), Latka & Simka (Taxi), Joanie & Chachi (Happy Days), Carla (Cheers), Steve & Barbara (My Three Sons), Hot Lips (M*A*S*H) and of course Mike & Carol (The Brady Bunch).

TBS Fall 2010 Schedule Has American Dad; My Wife and Kids Premieres Aug. 30 on Nick at Nite
We continue our look at the fall 2010 schedules for cable networks today with a look at TBS's Fall 2010 schedule. We also have coverage of the first day of the TCA Summer 2010 Press Tour, as NBC is up today. So let's get to it! TBS will add one new series to its fall schedule as the animated comedy American Dad! joins the line-up starting Monday, Sept. 20, 2010! But before we get into the fall schedule, TBS is making a minor change next week. Starting Monday, Aug. 2, a third airing of Home Improvement will be added at 11am, replacing Just Shoot Me! So this means Home Improvement will air from 11am-12:30pm. Just Shoot Me! will move to Saturday mornings starting at 8am (sometimes it is just a half-hour and other times it airs until 10am) effective Aug. 7.
Now that we got that out of the way, we can move on to the TBS Fall 2010 schedule! The schedule starts on Monday, Sept. 20 with weekdays from 6am-9am remaining the same as it is now, which means Married...with Children from 6-7am and Saved by the Bell from 7-9am. Then the 9am hour will see changes as Yes, Dear moves to the hour replacing Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. Not to worry because Fresh Prince will move to 10am-11:30am, as it replaces House of Payne and Home Improvement from 10:30am-11:30am. At 11:30am & 12pm TBS will air an hour of House of Payne, replacing two more airings of Home Improvement. TBS is pulling Home Improvement from the weekday schedule, but more on this later. At 12:30pm, TBS adds weekday airings of Wednesday hit, Meet the Browns replacing According to Jim, which slides to 1pm replacing Yes, Dear. TBS will air Everybody Loves Raymond from 1:30-3pm, as it replaces Yes, Dear at 1:30pm. According to Jim airs at 3pm replacing House of Payne, while The Office moves to 3:30pm replacing According to Jim. The 4pm hour will see Friends take over replacing Raymond in the 4pm half-hour. Another Everybody Loves Raymond airs at 5pm, followed by The King of Queens replacing Friends/The Office. At 6pm, we have another The King of Queens followed by Seinfeld, replacing King of Queens at 6:30. At 7pm Seinfeld remain, but American Dad! joins the line-up at 7:30pm replacing Seinfeld.
In primetime (8-11pm), the schedule remains the same, but American Dad! will air Fridays 8-9pm replacing Family Guy. And on Saturdays, the morning sitcom block remains unchanged, but the late afternoon/early evening block starting at 3:30pm has changed a bit. According to Jim still starts it off at 3:30pm, followed by only one airing of Raymond now at 4pm, King of Queens moves to 4:30 & 5pm, and Seinfeld airs 5:30 & 6pm. A block of American Dad! has been added airing from 6:30-8pm. Late nights/early mornings will have Married..with Children at 5am and Home Improvement at 5:30am, its only airing on the schedule now.
No further changes are expected in October, so this is officially the TBS Fall 2010 schedule. Highlights for the month include a Labor Day at The Office marathon on Monday, Sept. 6 from 10am-8pm and a catch-up marathon of My Boys on Saturday, Sept. 11 from 10pm-1:30am leading into the one-hour season finale on Sunday, Sept. 12 at 10pm.

We previously announced the news at Nick at Nite's upfront in March, but now we have a launch date. Promos started airing last night announcing the premiere date. TBS Summer 2010 Brings New Comedy Episodes and Series; TV One Early Evening Schedule Changes
TBS's newest original sitcom stars Terry Crews (Everybody Hates Chris) and Essence Atkins (Half and Half) as Nick and Suzanne, a newly married couple whose blended family faces the challenges of everyday life. From dealing with the complexities of being newlyweds to weathering the storm of teenage children this series is packed with relatable moments for all families. Telma Hopkins (Family Matters, Bosom Buddies) plays Nick's mother, who isn't happy about his marriage nor her new role as grandmother. Keesha Sharp is Suzanne's best friend, who has a taste for men and the finer things in life. Comedian Christian Fennegan plays Nick's best friend and owner of a sports memorabilia store. And Ice Cube, who also serves as producer, plays a recurring role as Suzanne's SWAT officer brother.
Are We There Yet? airs after all-new episodes of Meet the Browns (Wednesdays 8-9pm). Repeats of House of Payne will follow Are We There Yet? in the 10pm hour for a full night of primetime comedy!
Next TBS presents a demonically funny new comedy -- Neighbors From Hell! The animated comedy will premiere on Monday, June 7 at 10 p.m. and it will air in between Family Guy repeats (9:30 and 10:30). The network's first original animated series follows the Hellmans, a family trying to blend in with the neighborhood while fulfilling a mission from Hell. The Hellman family are just your average demons trying to fit in while preventing humans from ruining their home -- hell! The series also has a 10 episode order.
And finally the fourth season of single camera sitcom My Boys will launch Sunday, July 25. The series will move to Sundays at 10:00PM. Last season it aired Tuesdays at 10:30PM. My Boys is a smart, relatable, contemporary comedy series about a group of friends who, with a healthy dose of sarcasm and wit, navigate the ups and downs of life and everything in between. They always make time to get together, drink beer, catch up, and support each other -- even while they’re cracking jokes. The fourth season has a 9 episode order.
Just last week we gave you details on TV One May 2010, now we have a bit of a schedule change. Beginning on Monday (May 3, 2010), the TV One weekday early evening programming block from 4pm-7pm will be changing until further notice. Basically Lincoln Heights' afternoon airing will be leaving the line-up. Lincoln Heights will continue to still air weekdays at 11pm and 2am. Since it is leaving afternoons, this makes way for Cedric the Entertainer Presents to return to the weekday regular schedule! Cedric will air weekdays in the 6pm hour, replacing an hour of Sanford & Son, which will slide to the 5pm hour. And that 5pm hour of Sanford & Son will be replacing an hour of Divorce Court, which will now move to 4pm replacing the Lincoln Heights afternoon airing.

TCA Winter 2010 Press Tour: Fox; TBS Makes Schedule Changes
The executive session was held at 12pm PT with Peter Rice (chairman of Fox) and Kevin Reilly (entertainment president of Fox) and that is why our blog was delayed today (more on the delay of this session in a bit). Among the announcements are that Glee has been given an early pick up for 2010-2011 season. And prior to the second season premiere, there will be a multi-part reality special on the show to find three new cast members. Fox has picked-up The X Factor to air starting Fall 2011. Simon Cowell, who created and launched The X Factor in the U.K. in 2004, will serve as both executive producer and judge on the U.S. version, which will be produced by Syco Television and FremantleMedia North America. He signed the contract right on stage, hence the reason for the delay of this session! Cowell will however leave American Idol at the end of the current season that starts tomorrow, so he can focus on this show fully. Fox has committed to American Idol for at least three more years. And will Paula Abdul join The X Factor? Cowell says, "I've gone on record, I adore Paula. Whatever happens, I will be working with her in some capacity..." No judges info has been announced yet for this show.
Upcoming summer drama Code 58 starring Bradley Whitford and Colin Hanks will premiere on Wednesday, May 12 at 8pm and will also air May 19 at 8pm before moving to Mondays at 9pm in the summer starting June 7. The series has an order for 13 episodes. The Simpsons reached a milestone episode last night with episode 450, now America's Most Wanted will reach its 1000th episode on Saturday, March 6, followed by episode 100 of Bones on Thursday, April 8, while Family Guy will reach episode 150 on Sunday, May 2.
Reilly mentioned Fox wants to do a comedy night that is non-animated. Perhaps Tuesdays next fall?
After the executive session we have a lunch break and writing break sponsored by Animation Domination from 12:45pm-2:15pm PT. Then Fox will have more panels of their series. At 2:15pm PT the panel is handed over to upcoming new midseason drama Past Life. On hand are stars Kelli Giddish, Nicholas Bishop, and Ravi Patel, along with executive producers David Hudgins & Lout Pitt. At 3pm PT there is a break sponsored by America's Most Wanted's 1000th episode, and host/executive producer John Walsh will be available for interviews (along with co-exec producer Steve Katz). Then at 3:30pm PT the final panel of the day belongs to 24. On hand will be stars Kiefer Sutherland, Cherry Jones, Mary Lynn Rajskub, Annie Wersching, Freddie Prinze Jr., Katee Sackhoff, Mykelti Williamson, Chris Diamantopoulos, and John Boyd along with co-executive producer Howard Gordon. Then later tonight from 7-10 PT it is the Fox Winter 2010 All-Star Party at the Villa Sorriso in Pasadena!
To recap Fox's midseason, Human Target launches this coming Sunday at 8pm and then will air Wednesday at 9pm for episode two before moving to Wednesdays at 8pm starting Jan. 27. 24 launches its season also on Sunday from 9-11pm and two more hours on Monday from 9-11pm before settling into its regular Mondays at 8pm slot. A new season of Kitchen Nightmares starts Friday, Jan. 29 at 9pm. New drama Past Life premieres Thursday, Feb. 11 from 8-10pm before moving to its regular 9m slot the following week. Fringe will then return on Thursday, April 1 at 9pm. New sitcom Sons Tucson launches Sunday, March 14 and will air at 9:30pm on Sundays, as American Dad! goes on hiatus. As of now, Glee will return on a new night of Tuesday starting April 13 at 9pm, but this was before Our Little Genius was pulled, so who knows it might return a week or two earlier than planned. Fox hasn't announced what will air Tuesdays at 9pm starting in February. Lie to Me still doesn't have a return date, so that night could be possible, but in the exec session, Reiley says it could return in spring.
Moving to regular news, TBS has made some time shifts to their schedule that started today. Due to the TCA press tour, we couldn't get this out to you a bit earlier, so we apologize. Like Hallmark's changes that began today, TBS won't be removing anything...just shifting timeslots. The biggest change is My Name is Earl leaving early evenings from 7-8pm and will move to late nights from 12-1am. Seinfeld is once again back in the 7pm hour. According to Jim and House of Payne will not have full hours anymore in the afternoons, but one airing will remain in the afternoon as the other airings of each move to mornings. The Office remains at 6:30pm, the only sitcom that launched this past fall that will remain in its slot. There are more time shifts as well, such as Raymond and King of Queens back to late afternoons/early evenings and a third airing of Fresh Prince in the mornings. Just what we need, right?

TBS Fall 2009 Schedule; Gospel Music Channel Acquires Sister Sister; Summer TCA Tour: Cable Days 1 and 2
TBS will make its first batch of changes starting the week of Sept. 21. For this week only, Fresh Prince of Bel-Air will slide to the 8am hour replacing the second hour of Saved by the Bell. In the 9am hour now for this week it will be an episode each of Just Shoot Me and Home Improvement. The TBS Movie continues to air at 10am, but this week will be its last week! Yes, Dear moves to 12pm, sharing the hour with Everybody Loves Raymond. Home Improvement still airs in the 1pm hour for now, more on that in a bit. Then we get more Everybody Loves Raymond in the 2pm hour, so this show goes from 5pm-6:30pm to 12:30pm & 2-3pm now. Then House of Payne will join the line-up airing in the 3pm hour replacing Yes, Dear. The King of Queens remains at 4pm for now, more on that in a bit as well. Friends now gets a full hour and moves to 5-6pm. Seinfeld is now only a half-hour and at 6pm, leading into The Office at 6:30pm. My Name is Earl will air back-to-back in the 7pm hour. Primetime has blocks of Family Guy on Mondays, The Office on Tuesdays, House of Payne/Meet the Browns on Wednesdays, with movies on Thursdays and Fridays. The late night line-up will have Seinfeld in the 11pm hour on most days, with My Name is Earl on Tuesdays. Sex and the City remains at midnight with a movie following until blocks of Steve Harvey Show and Married...with Children airing after that until dawn. Lots of sitcoms, less movies, good!
Then starting the following week on Monday, Sept. 28, we get some more changes. Fresh Prince is back in the 9am hour, with Saved by the Bell getting its second hour back at 8am. The TBS 10am movie is now gone and we get all sitcoms now in the daytime, as Just Shoot Me and Home Improvement slide up to the 10am hour now and we get an extra sitcom hour as Home Improvement and Yes, Dear air in the 11am hour. Everything else is the same as the week of Sept. 21. But a few days later on Thursday, October 1, According to Jim joins the TBS sitcom line-up! According to Jim will air in the 4pm hour replacing King of Queens. That show will slide to 1-2pm, replacing two episodes of Home Improvement. Home Improvement will still air at 10:30am & 11am, so not to worry. Nothing is being replaced at all (well...except the movie) despite four new series coming to the regular schedule!

Gospel Music Channel will be adding even more shows now to their schedule! First they added Christy, Doc, and Dr. Quinn to weekdays, then they went with some comedies in Amen and Good News on Mondays in primetime, now we get another comedy and another drama! Gospel Music Channel has acquired '90s sitcom Sister, Sister and '90s drama Promised Land. Yes, this means Sister, Sister will be on THREE cable networks in BET, ABC Family and now Gospel Music Channel. WGN America also recently aired the Tia and Tamera Mowry comedy. The series premieres on Gospel Music Channel next Monday (Aug. 3) and will join the Monday comedy block with Amen and Good News. Sister, Sister will air back-to-back in the 8pm hour (encores at 12am), replacing two Amen episodes. Good News will remain at 9pm (encore at 1am) and Amen is cut to just 9:30pm (encore at 1:30am).
Sister, Sister will also air Saturdays in the 6pm hour as well starting Aug. 8! Amen has gained some more slots airing Saturdays at 7:30pm and Sundays back-to-back in the 7pm hour. So losing some slots on Mondays wasn't a bad thing! Good News will also air Saturdays at 7pm leading into Amen.
Gospel Music Channel has also acquired the drama Promised Land. It lasted three seasons on CBS from 1996-1999 and was a spin-off of Touched by an Angel. They will air the series Wednesdays at 8pm with an encore at 11pm starting Aug. 5.

The Summer 2009 TCA Tour started yesterday and will through August 8. First up from July 28 to July 31 is the cable portion. Day one was pretty slow with TBS and TNT the main players on that day. Networks that went yesterday were Travel Channel Fox Reality Channel, Turner Networks (TBS, TNT, HLN, CNN) and AMC closed the night off with cocktails. We'll give you the rundown of the notables. Househusbands of Hollywood will premiere Aug. 15 on Fox Reality Channel. Househusbands of Hollywood follows the lives of five men and their high-powered, successful wives. The couples include Darryl Bell and Tempestt Bledsoe and Grant and Jillian Reynolds. And TBS gave details on their original new talk show Lopez Tonight, that will premiere in November. Comedian and actor George Lopez headlines a new talk show with an outdoor street-party atmosphere and a high-energy crowd. The show will feature celebrity guests, live music and comedy acts, and Lopez flair and personality.
Up today were MTV Networks (MTV, TV Land, Nick at Nite, Comedy Central), History, NatGeo, ESPN, Starz, and BBC America. TV Land promoted their new originals that premiere next Wednesday: Make My Day and How'd You Get Rich, which we have mentioned so many times already. Nick at Nite was promoting their new original animated comedy Glen Martin, DDS which will launch Aug. 17 at 8pm. We will have more on that very soon.

TV Guide Channel Acquires Ugly Betty Reruns; TBS Orders More House of Payne; Network Notes
The deal includes access to existing and future episodes of Ugly Betty which will begin airing as a weekly strip on TV Guide Network in fall 2010. As part of the agreement, TVGuide.com will have rights to stream up to five Ugly Betty episodes at a time online. In addition, the deal includes repurpose rights for the upcoming fourth season of Ugly Betty premiering in October 2009 on ABC. The repeat telecast of the new episodes will air on TV Guide Network within two weeks of their premiere on ABC.
TBS is expanding the network's groundbreaking partnership with Tyler Perry and Debmar-Mercury by ordering an additional 20 episodes of the powerhouse comedy Tyler Perry's House of Payne. The order will bring the number of episodes in the series to 172, a remarkable total for any sitcom. House of Payne, along with Tyler Perry's Meet the Browns, continue to rank as the top sitcoms on cable.
House of Payne and Meet the Browns rank as ad-supported cable's top two original sitcoms of all-time among adults 18-49, viewers and households. So far in 2009, the shows are television's top two series in delivery of African-American adults 18-34. Meet the Browns also ranks as television's #1 program among African-American viewers and adults 18-49. This year, new episodes of Meet the Browns have averaged 3.2 million viewers, while new episodes of House of Payne have averaged 3 million viewers.
House of Payne is owned by Perry, distributed by Debmar-Mercury and licensed by TBS - debuted in 2006 with a test run of 10 episodes. After early results showed promise, TBS ordered a then-unprecedented 100 episodes. TBS later ordered an additional 26 episodes, followed by a deal for 26 more and the 20-episode order being announced today. The series is set in Atlanta and features LaVan Davis as fireman Curtis "Pops" Payne, a man who believes his house should be his castle, he the king and his wife, Ella (Cassi Davis), the queen. Unfortunately, their castle has turned into Grand Central Terminal, thanks to the constant comings and goings of immediate and extended family members. Lance Gross, Keshia Knight Pulliam, Allen Payne, Demetria McKinney, Larramie "Doc" Shaw and China McCain co-star.
ABC has announced premiere dates for Eastwick and Brothers & Sisters for the 2009-10 season. Eastwick will premiere on Wednesday, Sept. 23 at 10pm ET/PT, while Brothers & Sisters will launch its fourth season on Sunday, Sept. 27 at 10pm ET/PT. These two were the last of the fall premiere dates yet to be announced by ABC. Private Practice launches its third season on Thursday, Oct. 1 at 10pm ET/PT.

Meanwhile, Wipeout, ABC's outrageously popular reality series, has been picked up for a third season. Twenty-four thrill-seekers will compete in the world's largest extreme obstacle course designed to provide the most spills, face plants and wipeouts ever seen on television. Moving nights, from Tuesday last summer to Wednesday this year, against tougher competition from Fox's time-period veteran So You Think You Can Dance, ABC's Wipeout is No. 1 during the 8 o'clock hour in Total Viewers and across each of the key Men demographics (M18-34/M18-49/M25-54). In Adults 18-49, Wipeout is a strong and very close second to Fox's Dance. Since its debut, Wipeout stands as Wednesday's No. 1 TV program in each of the Men demos (M18-34/M18-49/M25-54). It's the No. 5 TV series of Summer 2009 with Adults 18-49 and No. 1 with Men 18-49. On average to date, Wipeout is drawing ABC's largest summer audience in the Wednesday 8 o'clock hour in 13 years and highest Adults 18-49 rating during the summer frame in 10 years since 1996 and 1999, respectively.
In other summer news, ABC will launch Crash Course on Wednesday, August 26, 2009 airing Wednesdays at 9pm through and including Wednesday, Sept. 16. As of now, only four episodes are scheduled to air. The series, hosted by Orlando Jones and Dan Cortese, is a comedic auto-obstacle course series. It will air after Wipeout and will replace I Survived a Japanese Game Show, which would conclude its run the previous week.

Are We There Yet?: The Sitcom Coming to TBS; Our Emmy Nominations Picks
TBS has ordered 10 episodes of the new sitcom, slated to premiere in June 2010, with the option for an additional 90 episodes. The series is produced by Cube Vision and distributed by Debmar-Mercury. Revolution's Joe Roth and Cube Vision's Ice Cube and Matt Alvarez serve as executive producers, along with award-winning show-runner Ali LeRoi, who has won an Emmy® for his work on The Chris Rock Show and an NAACP Image Award for Everybody Hates Chris. In addition to executive-producing, Ice Cube will have a recurring role on the sitcom version!
Debmar-Mercury's association with TBS began in 2006, when the company devised a groundbreaking distribution strategy for Tyler Perry's House of Payne. Debmar-Mercury offered a 10-episode experiment in select markets that produced strong ratings, leading TBS to order a full-fledged series with an unprecedented 100 episodes. In January 2009, TBS premiered 10 episodes of Tyler Perry's Meet the Browns to strong ratings, leading the network to order additional episodes for a total of 80. So far this year, the two series have ranked as the top television programs in delivery of African-American viewers. Debmar-Mercury has also ordered 10 episodes for a Comedy Central comedy, as we mentioned, with an option to order 90 more, just like Are We There Yet?
The movie Are We There Yet?, a breakout 2005 hit, told the story of Nick (Ice Cube), a smooth operator who is trying to land a date with Suzanne, a divorcee stuck working out of town over New Year's and miserable because she misses her kids. Nick gallantly offers to make her New Year's wish come true – and his own in the process – by driving her two children to be reunited with their mom. What Nick doesn’t know is that Suzanne's children, whom he's never met, hate every man their mom dates on sight. The movie grossed more than $82 million at the box office and was followed in 2007 by a sequel, Are We Done Yet?
In the sitcom Are We There Yet?, Terry Crews will star as Nick, the character Ice Cube played in the film.
Today we will give our preview of what we think the nominations for the Emmy's will look like. The real nominations will be announced tomorrow (Thursday) morning at 8:30am ET, so we will give you those then. But for now...here are our predictions for the main acting categories for the 61st Annual Emmy Awards airing Sept. 20 on CBS:

MY THOUGHTS: 30 Rock has won it the last two years and is probably the favorite. The first 5 on this list are probably locks for a nomination.

David Duchovny, Califorinication (Showtime)

MY THOUGHTS: Baldwin won it last year and could repeat. I think Braff will get a nomination this year for his final full year with Scrubs with Charlie Sheen not getting one as a result. Expect Jim Parsons to be nominated for his work on Big Bang Theory.

MY THOUGHTS: Fey won it last year and is the favorite again. Eva Longoria deserves a nomination for once. She is hysterical.

MY THOUGHTS: Jean Smart won last year, but it will be interesting if she will be nominated this year due to Samantha Who? not getting picked up for a third year. Who cares, right? She deserves it.
