TV One & WWOR's Fall Line-Ups; The Color Honeymooners to DVD!

TV One has announced its fall line-up and while some current shows might be off the line-up for now, there are some new and returning shows like Amen and 227. TV One will launch '80s classic Amen at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, September 26 and air 4 episodes a day, at least for that week. It is still unclear what they will do with the show after this week, as their October line-up is not in yet. But we can expect TV One to "shine on me" for a long time. To see TV One's fall line-up click here. TV One airs all of their sitcoms unedited, so many fans of shows like Good Times and Martin are very happy.

Now heading to New York City -- WWOR's fall line-up is in. At least most of it. Spin City and The Cosby Show will both be leaving at later dates, so it is unclear what will replace them, but they both are on the line-up starting September 12. The Nanny and Mad About You have been added to the afternoon line-up. Click here to see the line-up.
In other New York local news, Home Improvement is coming to WLNY-TV, airing weekday mornings at 9:00 and 9:30 a.m., replacing the canceled Life & Style. WCBS will move Becker up to 1:30 a.m. (which is much better than 3:30 a.m.) and move the encores of Entertainment Tonight and The Insider from late nights to 9 and 9:30 a.m. replacing the canceled Larry Elder. WABC has made no changes to its solid number one rated line-up. WNBC will be adding Martha weekdays at 11:00 a.m. WNYW has not released their line-up to us yet. We hope to find out the weekend line-ups for all of these soon, too. Of course, WPIX's full seven-day-a-week schedule was already released to us.

Let's head on over to TV DVD land with news regarding the world of TV DVDs. MPI Home Entertainment will be releasing The Color Honeymooners on DVD in mid-late 2006. So, you've heard it here first. The show had 42 hour long episodes and lasted from 1966-1970, so another show MPI is releasing that is approaching 40 years.

Classic TV Continues in Chicago; Family Affair to DVD!

I was going to post some of the New York local channel fall schedules today, such as WWOR, but I will hold off on that until tomorrow. So for those who have been waiting for those, please come back tomorrow and sorry for the inconvenience. I have already posted WPIX, so I hope that is good enough for now.
I do have some local channel schedule information to post today! I normally do not post other city's local channel schedules, but ME-TV in Chicago is different. It is by far the best local channel in the U.S. currently. They have been airing classic TV since they launched. Their popular "Summer of ME" schedule was so popular, with shows such as The Facts of Life and The Brady Bunch, that some of the summer shows will be staying on their line-up, while adding some new ones for the fall such as Fantasy Island, Good Times and Eight is Enough. To view their excellent line-up, please visit here.

And the '60s sitcom coming to DVD is ... Family Affair! Get ready in early 2006 for Buffy, Jody, Cissy, and the rest for a wonderful celebration, as Family Affair approaches 40 years of excellence. MPI is releasing the series on DVD and they have been doing a wonderful job on their sets for Doris Day, The Beverly Hillbillies and Petticoat Junction. Each of those sets are filled with lots of bonus material, so I'm sure Family Affair will be, too. I don't know yet if it will be a first season release or volume release, but I'm suspecting the season release. As always, wait until TVShowsonDVD.com announces it, to make it official.

BREAKING NEWS: TV Land and Nick@Nite score in August! Nick@Nite had its best August ever among adults 18-49, while TV Land had its best August ever among adults 25-54. Nick@Nite was hyping the premiere of Hi-Jinks whle TV Land celebrated good ratings for the Night Court marathon. Read both releases here.

Seinfeld Gets Two DVD Releases for Thanksgiving!

I've gotten an early report that Seinfeld will get two seasonal releases by Thanksgiving from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment.
You will see seasons 5 and 6, both 4 discs each, on Tuesday, November 22. And just like how the first two volumes were released last Thanksgiving, there will be again another great collectible giftset release for us with special collectible items! Stay tuned in the coming weeks for the official announcement on TVShowsonDVD.com, as this information can always change.

And now to juice everyone up for tomorrow's news (and cheap promotion to get you back here tomorrow), there will be a classic 1960s sitcom finally coming to DVD in early 2006. I don't want to give anything more away, but stay tuned here tomorrow!
I also hope to release WWOR-TV in New York's fall schedule tomorrow, and maybe some others, too.

Reason Why 7 Episodes for Married...With Children S4 DVD Were Edited

Sorry for the delay today. As most of you probably know we reported in our review that 7 episodes of the Married... With Children Season 4 DVD had syndicated prints. Well, if you haven't found out yet why, please visit TVShowsonDVD.com and they contacted Sony Pictures Home Entertainment and they gave a reason. Now if you want to believe SPHE or not, is up to you.

For those of you in the New Orleans and other cities in that region (you probably well have evacuated to a secure place by now), we wish you the best of luck and hope Hurricane Katrina is not going to have a big impact as much as they say it is going to. Our prayers and wishes to all in that area.

Lost DVD Review

Today we will just leave it to our Lost DVD review to do the talking. Buena Vista Home Entertainment has done a wonderful job on this set and it is possibly the DVD of the year. A must buy. Please read my review here. And enjoy the rest of the weekend!

TBS Fall Line-Up; The Beav to DVD

Today is one of those rare days we bring you two posts in one day! Earlier today Todd posted a promotion running on the website for a free TV theme CD. Enter the contest today. We have 5 copies to give away.

TBS has announced its fall schedule, which will begin on Monday, October 3. There are not many changes, though. TBS will add a second hour of Saved by the Bell from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m., replacing the start of the TBS morning movie. Dawson's Creek will move to 9 a.m. The TBS morning movie, which was previously airing 8 to 10 a.m., will now be 10 a.m. to 12 noon, replacing two Dawson's Creek episodes. After that we have very minor changes. The 1996-2000 sitcom Cosby (pictured above) has expired, and will no longer air at 5:30 a.m., it will replaced by the 1984-1992 Cosby Show. The Cosby Show will also continue to air in its 1 & 1:30 p.m. slot. Eagle-eyed viewers can also catch episodes of Parent'hood & The Steve Harvey Show in early morning slots as well, usually between 4 a.m. and 5:30 a.m. Harvey will retain its afternoon slot still as well, of 2 & 2:30 p.m.
TBS has also scheduled two stunts for the fall. A six-hour Seinfeld marathon (6 p.m. to 12 midnight) is slated for October 2, just prior to its fall changes and an Everybody Loves Raymond marathon on Thanksgiving Day.

In today's DVD news, we finally will get Leave it to Beaver on DVD! It was announced in late May 2004 that the series was in the works and in late December 2004, I announced it would be out by November 2005. The final date is that it will come out just before Thanksgiving, on November 22. Today, TVShowsonDVD.com officially announced it. So, I'll just hand it over to them for the details.

We are working on a story for a show that has not seen subsequent seasons on DVD since its first season release. We will bring you the details on why and when or if we can expect subsequent seasons of this sitcom. We hope to bring you this in the coming days, so hang tight (unless it falls through)!

Developing Story: Growing Pains to DVD?

We have some possible wonderful news for Growing Pains fans. Back in March, Warner Bros. Home Video told fans and everyone else at the Warner Bros. HomeTheaterForum.com chat that Growing Pains could be a "potential title" for a DVD release. Now, Alan Thicke's official website says, "Watch for Growing Pains DVD collection by Christmas." So, I contacted his online manager, Patty and she told me that she will be seeing Alan in person on September 8 and she will get to ask him for more information then. I will let everyone know what happens after that, if we don't hear anything before then.

I think it looks good for this series on DVD. So all fans, "show me that smile" because I think it is very possible that the series will hit DVD very soon. I will let everyone know if anything further develops and when the official announcement is made, our compadres at TVShowsonDVD.com will certainly let everyone know.

Nick@Nite Stunt; Three's Company S5 Extras List!

Nick@Nite has added an additional stunt to their October line-up. They are promoting the upcoming movie In Her Shoes starring Cameron Diaz. The stunt airs October 6. The movie is about two sisters who have nothing in common other than shoes, Nick@Nite is featuring sister-themed episodes of their family sitcoms. Click here to view the shows and episodes airing in this stunt.

Now for the day's DVD news. We have yet another first look! In conjunction with my Three's Company page I bring you the list of the special features on the season 5 Three's Company DVD! Here is the list as of today, with of course anything is subject to change and additional special features could still be added:
  • Jenilee Harrison Interview (9:21) (pictured above)
  • Of Farce And Censors: All-New Interviews With Producers George Sunga & George Burditt and Writer Kim Weiskopf (9:36)
  • Best Of Jack: Season Five (8:31)
  • Best Of Janet: Season Five (8:02)
  • Best Of Cindy: Season Five (6:30)
  • Best Of Larry: Season Five (8:30)
  • Best Of Furley: Season Five (8:25)
Not too shabby! I hope they add more material, though. Bloopers would be nice along with original promos. This set will be very popular because it is the last season Suzanne Somers appeared in and you will see all of her phone tag scenes that have not aired in this country since the original broadcasts. Nick@Nite and TV Land showed some of them, but not all of them.

If there is any other news, I will edit it in on this post, so keep checking back!

Classic TV Sightings, DVD Updates

Welcome to yet another day of news. Did you know we are already in syndication? Who needs 100 episodes, or posts. :-)

Not much to update today but I hope everyone has also viewed our second new feature to the website - the SitcomsOnline.com DVD Reviews Page. Yes, we never actually had a page for our reviews, we just listed them on the main page and on the forums. Now this will be easier for you and us.

I have more news for fellow New Yorkers. If you didn't know, yesterday WPIX aired a nice two-hour block in the morning from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m of Bewitched and The Odd Couple. Now, they will air even more Bewitched and an episode each of The Jeffersons and Taxi on Sunday, September 4. WPIX is really good to classic TV. To view the line-up for that morning click here.

And one another note. AmericanLife TV will be adding Crime Story to its Friday night line-up starting October 7. It will air 9 p.m. and 10 p.m.

Now for some DVD news! We have a scoop. It is first being posted here. In addition to Fantasy Island: Season 1, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will shelve out a rare program--The Johnny Cash Show on November 15. It doesn't seem it will be a seasonal set, because Sony says it is titled, The Johnny Cash Show Collection. Sony has had a TV DVD poll and that show is winning by a landslide, but I think some heavy duty cheating was going on there. I'm not sure if Sony is releasing this just because it is winning in the poll, or it was already on their radar map before the poll started. I know there are a lot of people waiting for some other shows on their poll such as Benson, The Facts of Life, Silver Spoons and One Day at a Time, but I have no information on any of those yet. Though, One Day at a Time is probably the most likely of those to come out in the closing days of 2005. I really wish I had a sitcom to announce, but not today. As always, don't take Cash as something official until it is officially announced, which will be probably in two weeks or so.

One other note, don't forget to watch Beautiful People tonight on ABC Family Channel. Don't ask why I'm promoting this, but just click here and you'll help me a lot.
If there is any other "breaking news" or anything noteworthy, I'll edit it in on this post. So keep checking back.

Fall 2005 TV Schedules & More Updates

Yesterday I posted the October line-ups for TV Land and Nick@Nite. If you have missed it, here is what TV Land will add and change to their lineup this September to its fall line-up. Nick@Nite is not making any changes for the fall, leaving the line-up intact from August, with The Jeff Foxworthy Show on Saturday nights.
Here are some of the other networks' fall 2005 line-ups:
Other networks such as The Hallmark Channel, Spike TV, AmericanLife TV, USA Network, Sci-Fi Channel, and Comedy Central are reporting little or no changes to the fall line-ups. TBS has yet to report their October schedule, so it is unknown at this time if their will be any changes to their line-up. I'll keep you posted. WE: Women's Entertainment will be adding Dharma & Greg this fall, but they also have not released their line-up to us yet. A&E will be adding 24 on Mondays. Nickelodeon has made some changes to its line-up, but it really isn't an appropriate network for us.
I will also post New York City's local channel line-ups, as you can see I posted WPIX's fall line-up. The other local channels have not released their full day fall line-ups yet, so keep checking back with us. Speaking of WPIX, they are showcasing an Odd Couple marathon for Labor Day Weekend on Saturday, September 3 from 12 noon to 6 p.m. ET. For details click here.

If there is a cable network's fall line-up you'd like to see that we missed, please leave some comments for us by clicking on comments below this news post.

As for the broadcast networks' fall line-ups, you all should know them by now, so I will not post them. However ABC has changed some of its season premiere dates, such as for Hope & Faith and cut According to Jim's season premiere to 30 minutes, thanks to Dancing with the Stars: Dance-Off. Read the edited premiere dates here.

And finally a little DVD update. I announced a few weeks back (on August 9), that Fame: Season 1 is in the works and is coming to DVD via MGM Home Entertainment on Tuesday, November 1. MGM will officially announce it tomorrow, so check our friends at TVShowsonDVD.com for that.

TV Land & Nick@Nite October; DVD Update; and more...

Since Saturdays and Sundays are usually very slow and I've just created this news blog, I could still rehash some of my news posts from the past few days, in case anyone missed them. To read all of my posts, usually are mostly just news related, with a little opinion, click here.

TV Land and Nick@Nite's October 2005 schedules are now out. TV Land Confidentital looks very interesting. It is a 7 week series that starts Sept. 14 and runs through October airing Wednesdays at 10 p.m. ET/PT with many encores during the week, too. A TV Land Confidenital Box Set is planned for every Wednesday from 4-6 p.m. ET/PT starting Sept. 21. Also, of note in October for TV Land are clip show episodes for Three's Company, All in the Family & Cheers; along with encore reunion specials for The Dick Van Dyke Show and The Brady Bunch. A "Bar Wars" Cheers Halloween stunt is also airing. To read the full TV Land October details, please click here.
Nick@Nite's October schedule was also released. 6 more new episodes of Fatherhood are planned with lots of great special guest voices from Betty White, Don Knotts, Henry Winkler and Jim Belushi. Roseanne's 3rd annual Halloween episodes marathon is also back. Read the full October details here.

And now for your DVD first look scoop! These are scoops that will be probably released here first, but are not officially announced yet, so please refrain from getting really excited until it is posted at our good buddy website TVShowsonDVD.com. And now the DVD scoop for today is ... Fantasy Island! Yes, Fantasy Island's first season is coming out on Tuesday, November 15, 2005 via Sony Pictures Home Entertainment.
And I announced on my Three's Company website yesterday, that the 5th season DVD cover art is now available. For full details please visit that website. I leave you today with the season 5 DVD box art for Three's Company.

SitcomsOnline.com News Blog

Hi, this is Pavan of SitcomsOnline.com and welcome to the first post of the SitcomsOnline.com News Blog! I get a lot of questions and feedback on the news I post, so I thought it would be great to have a blog type of a page where I would post all my news/schedules, etc. on one page for easier access. It will be updated daily, unless a day is very slow. I will provide news that you usually will not see on other television sites, such as advanced TV schedules from networks like TV Land and Nick@Nite, DVD news on some of your favorite sitcoms (including scoops on what is coming), and of course information on our DVD reviews.

I hope you all enjoy this and keep checking back everyday to SitcomsOnline.com for your latest sitcom news, reviews, and more. I'm not going to be world known like Kristin from E! or Ask Ausiello of TV Guide, but I'll try :-)
