Television's most entertaining night of the year brought the house down as the TV Land Icon Awards in Celebration with Entertainment Weekly taped Sunday night at The Barker Hangar in Santa Monica. Premiering Sunday, April 17 at 9pm ET/PT on TV Land, the awards show kicked off with host George Lopez saying that his first pitch to the network, Comedians in Cars Getting Churros, was passed on. The ceremony honored John Stamos with the Timeless Icon Award, Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele with the Comedy Duo Icon Award, Debbie Allen with the Trailblazer Icon Award and The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story, with the Instant Icon Award. The night also featured a tribute to the late comedic legend, Garry Shandling presented by longtime friend, Bob Odenkirk.

John Stamos received the Timeless Icon Award, which is presented to an entertainer whose extraordinary work spans generations. His Full House and Fuller House co-stars Lori Loughlin and Dave Coulier, Grandfathered co-stars Paget Brewster and Josh Peck, and legendary television creator and film producer Garry Marshall presented him with his award after Candace Cameron Bure, Jimmy Kimmel, Don Rickles and Bob Saget toasted Stamos in a pre-recorded tribute. The GRAMMY-winning band The Beach Boys performed a mash-up of their mega-hits, including "Wouldn't It Be Nice," "Good Vibrations," and "Fun, Fun, Fun," before Stamos himself jumped on stage and joined them on the drums for a special performance of "Barbara Ann." Accepting his award, an emotional Stamos graciously thanked his fans for letting him in their living rooms all these years. Rob Huebel presented Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele, of the award-winning hit Comedy Central series Key & Peele, with the Comedy Duo Icon Award, celebrating their hilarious sketches that instantly turn viral. Huebel spiced things up with a one-man improv jam as part of his introduction. Upon receiving their award, the duo humorously thanked everyone for knowing they have a show. They also thanked teenage sons for introducing their parents to their show over the holidays, and paid homage to fellow honoree Norman Lear by thanking him for groundbreaking shows such as All in the Family and Good Times.

Innovative choreographer, director, actress and three-time Emmy® winner Debbie Allen (Fame, A Different World, Grey's Anatomy) received the Trailblazer Icon Award and actress Ellen Pompeo, whom Allen co-stars with and directs on the hit drama Grey's Anatomy, presented her with the award. Before introducing a montage featuring Kerry Washington, Jada Pinkett Smith and Taraji P. Henson, Pompeo said that Allen is "always finding ways to help others while doing all of her other work." In the pre-recorded video, Washington said Allen was her "shero" and Smith said, "She's changed the game for many people and that's what makes her a true icon." Lastly, Henson remarked about Allen that she "never forgets to keep raising creative artists." Dancers then rushed the stage for an electrifying performance to the iconic song "Fame," as part of Allen's tribute. Sutton Foster introduced the IHOP Fan Favorite Character Icon Award, which fans were able to vote on for weeks leading up to the taping. Jim Parsons, who plays the forever-nerdy Sheldon Cooper on the long-running hit sitcom The Big Bang Theory won the award. The ceremony also included a heartfelt tribute to a comedic legend and inspiration, Emmy® Award-winning Garry Shandling (The Larry Sanders Show, It's Garry Shandling's Show), presented by his longtime friend, Better Call Saul star Bob Odenkirk, who said that "when Garry asked you how you're doing he actually wanted you to answer."

FX's hit series, the much-talked about drama The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story, was honored with the Instant Icon Award, with Oscar® winner Cuba Gooding Jr. accepting on behalf of the series' stars, creators and producers. Entertainment Tonight's Kevin Frazier presented Gooding with the award. Upon receiving the award, Gooding said, "It is so humbling...we are incredibly grateful to you, the fans. There isn't a day that goes by that someone doesn't say how affected they are. The show succeeded on so many levels and we're thrilled it connected so deeply with viewers." The show-stopping finale of the TV Land Icon Awards was a tribute to three-time Emmy® Award winner, the renowned television creator Norman Lear, who received the Impact Icon Award, praising individuals that have made a significant impression on American entertainment and culture. Seth McFarlane, who presented Lear with the award, remarked, "[Lear] is 50 years older than me and better than me all around," and comedian and sitcom star Jerrod Carmichael said in a pre-taped message that Lear "has created art that has genuinely touched people's lives." Oscar®, Emmy®, Tony® and GRAMMY® winner Rita Moreno and Good Times star Jimmie Walker appeared in Lear's tribute, and Hollywood Game Night host Jane Lynch toasted and paid homage to Lear, saying that his work in television made the world more welcoming for everyone. Glee star and recording artist Amber Riley and The Voice winner Javier Colon performed a special medley of theme songs from Lear's shows, bringing the crowd to its feet and ending the night with standing ovation! The Emmy Award-winning sketch comedy series MADtv is returning to television, making the jump to primetime with eight all-new one-hour episodes on The CW Network; a premiere date and time for the series, from Telepictures, will be announced at a later date. Back with its signature pop-culture parodies and politically incorrect humor, the new MADtv will star up-and-coming new comedy voices and will feature special appearances from returning cast members of the original late-night series as hosts of each episode. Classic episodes from the 14 seasons of the show's original Fox late-night run are currently available to stream on The CW Seed, The CW's digital network. The CW also recently celebrated the 20th anniversary of MADtv with a reunion special of highlights from the original series and new material featuring 19 returning series alumni. We reported last week that TV Land was reinventing their annual awards ceremony as the TV Land Icon Awards in Celebration with Entertainment Weekly. Comedian George Lopez will host the evening honoring the very best of TV and entertainment, taping Sunday, April 10th at The Barker Hangar in Los Angeles, and airing Sunday, April 17th at 9pm ET/PT on TV Land. They have announced this year's honorees and additional guests for the star-studded event.

Three-time Emmy® Award winner Norman Lear will be honored with the Impact Icon Award, which praises individuals that have made a significant impression on American entertainment and culture. The incomparable Lear has been in the entertainment business for more than 60 years, creating some of the most memorable television comedy staples including The Jeffersons, One Day at a Time, All in the Family, Sanford and Son, Maude and Good Times, all of which have endured through generations and remain some of today's pop cultural favorites. In addition to being a multiple Emmy Award-winner, Lear is also a recipient of the National Medal of Arts and a Peabody Award, among other numerous accolades. Oscar®, Emmy®, Tony® and GRAMMY® winner Rita Moreno and Jimmie Walker will be on hand on hand for his tribute, and Glee star and recording artist Amber Riley, along with others to be announced, will perform a special medley of theme songs from Lear's shows. The Impact Icon Award will be presented to Lear by television and film creator Seth MacFarlane.

Also being honored at this year's ceremony is John Stamos, who will receive the Timeless Icon Award, which is presented to an entertainer whose extraordinary work spans generations. John Stamos is best known for his role as Jesse Katsopolis on the hit sitcom Full House, a role he recently reprised in the highly-anticipated follow up, Fuller House, which debuted in February on Netflix. He began his career as foster teen and dreamboat Blackie Parrish on General Hospital in 1982. After Full House, he went on to star on several seasons of ER as Dr. Tony Gates, played the title role in Jake in Progress, and currently stars on the FOX series Grandfathered. Stamos' Full House co-stars and longtime friends Dave Coulier and Lori Loughlin, his Grandfathered co-stars Paget Brewster and Josh Peck, and renowned television creator and film producer Garry Marshall will present him with his award. As part of his tribute, GRAMMY-winning band The Beach Boys will perform a medley of their hit songs.

TV Land and Darren Star's critical darling Younger has reached new series highs in Live+3 after the highly-anticipated season two finale aired last Wednesday (3/23/16), netting 1.3 million total viewers. The median age of the audience for the Sutton Foster comedy is 12 years younger (46 years old) than TV Land's channel prime average, and four years younger than season one. Season two has boasted impressive double-digit gains over season one. The show has also seen significant growth with its followers and fans on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook. Younger was already renewed for a 12-episode third season before the second season launched on January 13. We will keep you posted when they announce the season three premiere date.

Younger follows Liza (two-time Tony® winner Sutton Foster), a 40-year old woman who pretends to be 26 in order to get a job in the highly competitive world of publishing – and succeeds. Now working under the prickly Diana (Miriam Shor), Liza has to figure out how to balance her real life with best friend Maggie (Debi Mazar), and her "pretend" life with her new crew – friend/coworker Kellsey (Hilary Duff) and fashion publicist Lauren (Molly Bernard). At the end of season two, Liza's secret took a tragic turn when Kelsey's fiancé Thad (Dan Amboyer) was killed in an accident right after he discovered her lie, and Liza's love life is in disarray as she tries to choose between on-again/off-again boyfriend Josh (Nico Tortorella) and her boss Charles (Peter Hermann), with whom she has an undeniable connection. Season three is set to shoot in New York this summer.

TV Land has reinvented the network's annual awards ceremony for 2016, dubbing it the TV Land Icon Awards in Celebration with Entertainment Weekly. The most passionate magazine about impactful, cutting edge TV will be coming together with the network to make this year's celebration bigger than ever. The TV Land Icon Awards honors the very best of all television and entertainment. Renowned comedian George Lopez, who stars in TV Land's new original comedy series Lopez, will host the event, taping Sunday, April 10 at The Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, CA, and airing on Sunday, April 17 at 9pm ET/PT on TV Land. Honoree announcements are forthcoming. TV Land comedy Lopez explores the real George Lopez we rarely get to see, pushed and pulled between the worlds of race, class and fame, yet always having a hard time fitting in. The series premieres next Wednesday, March 30 at 10pm.

For the first time in network history, Showtime will hold a special launch for a new series, releasing all six episodes of the new comedy Dice at once to its subscribers. The full season of Dice will be available on Sunday, April 10 starting at 12am, on the Showtime streaming service, Showtime Anytime and Showtime On Demand. The first episode of Dice will also premiere on linear TV later that day at 9:30pm ET/PT on Showtime, with subsequent episodes continuing to air every Sunday. The scripted, semi-autobiographical series will follow the life of renowned comedian, Andrew Dice Clay, chronicling the stops and starts of his attempts at a career resurgence in his transplanted home base of Las Vegas. The series also stars Kevin Corrigan, and guest stars Natasha Leggero, Lorraine Bracco, Adrien Brody, Michael Rapaport, Wayne Newton, Criss Angel and Rita Rudner. Dice joins the Showtime comedy slate that includes Shameless, House of Lies, Episodes and the upcoming comedies Roadies and I'm Dying Up Here.

Celebrities from television, film and music joined TV Land and host Terry Crews for a fun-filled evening at the 2015 TV Land Awards, honoring the most creative, popular and loved stars and series. The black-tie gala event, which premieres on TV Land on Saturday, April 18 at 9pm ET/PT with simulcasts on Nickelodeon and NickMom, taped on Saturday (April 11) at the Saban Theatre in Beverly Hills. The awards honored the casts and creative minds behind Parenthood (Fan Favorite Award), The Wonder Years (Impact Award), Freaks and Geeks (15th Anniversary Award), and Ally McBeal (Groundbreaking Award), as well as Betty White (Legend Award) and Donny and Marie Osmond (Pop Culture Award). The ceremony also featured a tribute to the late trailblazing comedian Joan Rivers and a jaw-dropping performance from Grammy(R) and Oscar(R)-winning best-selling recording artist Jennifer Hudson. Terry Crews opening the night with a lip sync medley that was an ode to the best of TV theme songs, including those from Friends, Gilligan's Island, The Brady Bunch, The Love Boat, The Facts of Life, The Addams Family, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Three's Company, The Jeffersons, Maude, The Golden Girls (with an audience cameo from Betty White!), Laverne and Shirley and more - finishing off with Good Times and a gospel choir.

While presenting for Freaks and Geeks, comedy legend Carl Reiner jokingly chastised Terry Crews for "schmoozing up" Betty White in his opening act. Accepting the 15th Anniversary Award for Freaks and Geeks, Judd Apatow credited series creator Paul Feig, saying "the reason it meant so much to people is because it meant so much to Paul." Jason Segel, who went on to A-list stardom, commented how the show "changed [his] entire life." R&B artist Charlie Wilson taking the stage for a surprise performance of "With A Little Help From My Friends," the theme song from The Wonder Years" while a montage of heartwarming clips from the series played for the audience. Fred Savage commenting on how amazing the night was and how The Wonder Years was "who we were, what we were going through," and Danica McKellar adding that the cast was her TV family (Fred Savage and Josh Saviano were like "brothers" and even taught her what "Pull my finger!" meant). Josh Saviano was in awe over the fact that Paula Abdul was presenting their award, saying "She was my first concert!" Presenter Wendie Malick on her Hot in Cleveland co-star Betty White: "When we grow up, we all want to be like you, Betty White." Betty White receiving a standing ovation when walking to the stage to the song "You Sexy Thing." She ended her acceptance of this year's Legend Award by saying, "To each and every one of you - and your mothers and fathers - thank you from the bottom of my heart," to which audience members responded by screaming, "We love you Betty!"

Calista Flockhart, when accepting the Groundbreaking Award for Ally McBeal, said she was blown away by the clip montage, and said of the show, "What I remember the most are the friendships, truly." Executive producer Bill D'Elia followed with a joke, praising creator David E. Kelley by saying "If we broke some ground, we broke it because David gave us an amazing shovel." Kelly closed it up by saying "To be receiving this award with this class tonight... it's such an esteemed club. Thank you much for welcoming us." Donny and Marie Osmond gave in to the audience shouting "Sing it!" ending their speech accepting the Pop Culture Award with Marie singing "I'm a little bit country," and Donny finishing with "I'm a little bit rock 'n' roll." George Lopez presenting a heartfelt, uplifting and celebratory tribute to the late groundbreaking comedian Joan Rivers. "Joan was ahead of her time," he remarked. "Everybody loved her." Tia Mowry-Hardrict welcoming performer Jennifer Hudson to sing "Whatever Makes You Happy," from the soundtrack to the hit series "Empire." Minka Kelly and Martin Sheen presenting the final award of the night in two parts. Sheen said, "I know a little bit about parenthood and drama," which left the audience laughing. Parenthood star Craig T. Nelson lauded the making of the series as "an extraordinary journey with an extraordinary group of people," while fellow star Bonnie Bedelia looked at the TV Land Award and wondered, "Do we each get one of these? I want one!" Lauren Graham thanking the fans for keeping Parenthood going for six seasons, and then ending by asking what was up Miles Heizer's (her TV son) new nose ring. And finally, Host Terry Crews closing out the night by saying "Now I'm off to party like I'm Betty White - let's do it!" Tune in for all this and more this coming Saturday at 9pm on TV Land!

ABC Family continues its original programming momentum by greenlighting two new pilots: the comedy Gorgeous Morons and the supernatural drama series Beyond. These two pilot greenlights come hot off the heels of the network picking up saga series Shadowhunters and single camera comedy Kevin From Work to series. From ABC Signature Studios, Gorgeous Morons is a half-hour multi-cam comedy that focuses on two stunningly handsome but ridiculously simple brothers – one is a model, the other a personal trainer – who find their lives rocked by their brainy new roommate, a female literature PhD whose looks are, by their standards, in desperate need of help. “Gorgeous Morons” is co-created and executive produced by Emmy® Award-nominated Lee Eisenberg & Gene Stupnitsky (The Office, Bad Teacher, Hello Ladies, Trophy Wife), alongside former The Office head writer Danny Chun (Happy Endings, The Office, The Simpsons). Chun is penning the script.

Beyond is a one-hour drama about a young man who wakes up from a coma after 12 years and discovers new supernatural abilities that propel him into the middle of a dangerous conspiracy. From Imperative Entertainment and Automatik, Beyond is created, written and executive produced by Adam Nussdorf (Once Upon a Time in Wonderland). Tim Kring (Heroes), Zak Kadison, Justin Levy and Brian Kavanaugh-Jones will serve as Executive Producers. We will let you know if and when ABC Family picks these pilots to series. ABC Family has its annual upfront presentation tomorrow...so stay tuned for any news.

ABC announced its summer lineup, with four new series joining the schedule: game show 500 Questions on Wednesday, May 20 at 8:00pm; drama The Whispers on Monday, June 1 at 10:01pm and game show Celebrity Family Feud on Sunday, June 21 at 8:00pm, followed by alternative series BattleBots on Sunday, June 21 at 9:00pm on ABC. Back to 500 Questions, the innovative "genius game show," from Mark Burnett and hosted by CNN's Richard Quest, will air nine hours over nine nights with its season finale set for Thursday, May 28. A premiere date for upcoming new drama Astronaut Wives' Club, starring stars like JoAnna Garcia-Swisher & Odette Annable, has not been announced yet, so stay tuned for that.

These series join returning shows The Bachelorette, which premieres Monday, May 18 at 9:00pm; Celebrity Wife Swap on Wednesday, May 20 at 10:00pm; Extreme Weight Loss on Tuesday, May 26 at 9:00pm; Mistresses, with a special two-hour premiere on Thursday, June 18 at 9:00pm; Rookie Blue on Thursday, June 25 at 10:00pm; and a two-night premiere of Bachelor in Paradise on Sunday, August 2 at 8:00pm and on Monday, August 3 at 8:00pm.

TV Land announced that Freaks and Geeks has been added to the list of honorees for the 2015 TV Land Awards, hosted by Terry Crews. Grammy® and Oscar® winner and best-selling recording artist Jennifer Hudson is also set for a musical performance at the ceremony, which tapes Saturday, April 11 at the Saban Theatre in Beverly Hills, and will air on Saturday, April 18 at 9pm ET/PT on TV Land with simulcasts on Nickelodeon and NickMom. Freaks and Geeks, which will receive the 15th Anniversary Award, is a cult comedy series that aired on NBC for only one season from 1999-2000, yet continues to find new fans every year. Starring actors who have gone on to A-list stardom, Freaks and Geeks revolves around Lindsay Weir, her brother Sam, and their two entirely different groups of friends: the "freaks" – druggies and delinquents – and the "geeks" – the socially awkward who are just trying to get through high school. Series creator Paul Feig and executive producer Judd Apatow, along with stars Seth Rogen, Jason Segel, Linda Cardellini, Busy Philipps, Samm Levine, Martin Starr, David Gruber Allen and Steve Bannos are confirmed to attend.

Grammy and Oscar-winning musician and actress Jennifer Hudson is set to deliver what is sure to be an outstanding musical performance at the TV Land Awards, singing "Whatever Makes You Happy" from the Billboard #1 soundtrack to Empire, the new monster hit on Fox. Couple of weeks ago we hinted something is returning to TV Land after 3 years. Now we can reveal what that is. It is the TV Land Awards! It's the ultimate celebration of TV! TV Land announced today that the TV Land Awards will be hosted by Terry Crews (Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Millionaire), one of the most versatile performers of TV and film. This year's awards will honor the most creative, popular and loved stars and series, including Parenthood, The Wonder Years, Ally McBeal, Betty White, who will receive The Legend Award, and Donny and Marie Osmond, who will be accepting the Pop Culture Award. The late groundbreaking comedian Joan Rivers will also be honored with a special tribute. Presenters and more honorees will be announced in the coming week. The ceremony will tape on Saturday, April 11 at the Saban Theatre in Beverly Hills and air Saturday, April 18 at 9pm ET/PT on TV Land with simulcasts on Nickelodeon and NickMom. Parenthood is receiving the Fan Favorite Award, a salute to a series that is considered an All-American classic and much-loved by its fans. Confirmed to be at the TV Land Awards include series stars Lauren Graham, Craig T. Nelson, Peter Krause, Bonnie Bedelia, Erika Christensen, Miles Heizer, Sam Jaeger, Savannah Paige Rae, Max Burkholder, Tyree Brown, Sarah Ramos, Xolo Mariduea and executive producer Jason Katims.

The Wonder Years will receive this year's Impact Award, which honors shows that have made a significant impression on American entertainment and culture. Ally McBeal will be honored with the Groundbreaking Award, given to a series that sparked conversation about cultural issues. Executive producer David E. Kelley, along with stars Calista Flockhart, Peter MacNicol, Lisa Nicole Carson, Gil Bellows and Courtney Thorne-Smith will be accepting the award with more cast members expected to join. Receiving The Legend Award this year is Betty White (The Mary Tyler Moore Show, The Golden Girls, TV Land's Hot in Cleveland). Triple threat brother and sister duo Donny and Marie Osmond will be on hand to receive the Pop Culture Award, honoring their staying power in the cultural zeitgeist. As we mentioned about ten days ago, TV Land will air That '70s Show this June. We also hinted that another sitcom will join the line-up and we can reveal what that is now! TV Land is bringing back the classic '50s sitcom I Love Lucy! The Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz comedy has not aired on the network since the end of 2008 and then it moved to Hallmark in January 2009. As of now, Hallmark Channel will still air I Love Lucy come June when TV Land will start airing the series again. We'll let you know if anything should change. As for TV Land, the network will bring back the iconic series on Monday, June 4, 2012! It will air weekday mornings from 11am-12pm, Saturdays 9-11am, and a block on Sundays starting at 11am (usually lasting to 4:30pm). I Love Lucy will air in a black and white morning sitcom block which features Leave it to Beaver at 9am, The Dick Van Dyke Show at 10am, I Love Lucy at 11am, and The Andy Griffith Show at 12 noon. This means M*A*S*H is out of the morning block, but it will still air weekdays from 6-8pm. Murder, She Wrote continues to kick off the morning line-up at 8am (with Boston Legal on Fridays). The rest of the weekday daytime schedule will remain intact with Gunsmoke at 1pm & 2pm and Bonanza from 3-6pm leading into M*A*S*H.

In primetime, Home Improvement remains at 8pm into Everybody Loves Raymond in the 9pm hour. Now The King of Queens block will move to 10pm-12am, as the second hour of Raymond will move to 1am. TV Land will air new addition That '70s Show in the 12am hour, so its lead-in is King of Queens and its lead-out is Raymond. In late night, 2am will be Roseanne, followed by two episodes of Three's Company at 2:30am & 3am. Then it's another Roseanne at 3:30am leading into an hour of Home Improvement at 4am, which moves up an hour, as That '70s Show will get an encore in the 5am hour. This means The Nanny is off of the TV Land line-up come June with the addition of That '70s Show.

How about on weekends? Well primetime and late night will look like it does on weeknights from 8am-6am. Weekend mornings kicks off with a mix of Roseanne and Three's Company from 6-9am. 9am-11am on Saturdays is I Love Lucy, followed by Extreme Makeover: Home Edition from 11am-2pm. From 2-4pm on most Saturdays will be an hour each of Good Times and The Jeffersons, the only time you'll see these two comedies now. A movie follows at 4pm leading into Home Improvement from 6:30-9pm. On Sundays, an original sitcom block airs from 9-11am leading into I Love Lucy which will air from 11am-4:30pm on most Sundays, leading into M*A*S*H from 4:30pm-9pm, as Home Improvement is preempted on Sundays at 8pm.

As for original programming, TV Land will have the season finales of Hot in Cleveland and Happily Divorced on Wednesday, June 6 at 10pm. TV Land will air new series The Soul Man starring Cedric the Entertainer starting Wednesday, June 20 at 10pm leading into season two of The Exes at 10:30pm. Both series will have 12 episodes this season. The second season of Retired at 35 will air Tuesdays at 10pm starting June 26 for ten episodes. On Sunday, June 24 TV Land Presents The 2012 AFI Life Achievement Award: Shirley MacLaine from 9-11pm. Saturday movies in May and June include Stir Crazy, The Golden Child, Coming to America, Barber Shop 2, and Beauty Shop. Stunts for June are the That '70s Show launch marathon from Friday, June 1 to Sunday, June 3, 9pm-12am each night. An Andy Griffith Show Memorial Day marathon on May 28 from 10am-2pm. That's all we have for June, it's one of the busiest months for TV Land in terms of new additions in a while, so that's a good sign! Stay with us for continued updates.



Sticking to classic TV, the 10th Annual TV Land Awards are coming up next Sunday (April 29) and will feature reunions of Murphy Brown, In Living Color, One Day at a Time and Laverne & Shirley. But before the awards air, ABC's Good Morning America has interviewed the cast of each show in detail as part of their "TV Reunion Blowout!" GMA news anchor Josh Elliott and lifestyle anchor Lara Spencer sat down with each cast at the TV Land Awards to reminisce about these classic series and how it feels reuniting after all these years! GMA aired the Murphy Brown reunion on Friday (watch here), but the rest will air starting Wednesday with In Living Color, then One Day at a Time on Thursday and Laverne & Shirley on Friday. Tune in to ABC in the 8am hour on these days for these classic reunions! "This is it!"

Celebrity icons from television, film and music joined TV Land and host Kelly Ripa for an unforgettable evening on Saturday night at the TV Land Awards 10th Anniversary celebration, which returned to New York for the second year in a row! The gala event, which premieres on TV Land on Sunday, April 29 at 9pm ET/PT, honored Aretha Franklin (Music Icon Award) and the casts of Laverne & Shirley (Fan Favorite Award), One Day at a Time (Innovator Award), In Living Color (Groundbreaking Award), Murphy Brown (Impact Award) and Pee-wee's Playhouse (Pop Culture Award).

We were on hand on Saturday night at the "Black Carpet" (as you know, if you followed our tweets) where most of the stars came before going inside to the event. We got to talk to Bonnie Franklin of One Day at a Time, and she told us she doesn't expect her to return for another episode of Hot in Cleveland, with her former One Day at a Time co-star Valerie Bertinelli. Here's hoping Mackenzie Phillips, Pat Harrington, Glenn Scarpelli and Richard Masur guest star soon! We also talked to T'Keyah Crystal Keymah of In Living Color on why she thought the show was groundbreaking and if she talks to Bill Cosby still. T'Keyah co-starred with Bill Cosby on the 1996-2000 sitcom Cosby, playing his daughter. She said she talks to him still and thanked me for reminding her to call him! We also saw on the "Black Carpet," Carrie Ann Inaba, a former Fly Girl on In Living Color and now of course a judge on Dancing with the Stars. She mentioned that her favorite show of all-time is Happy Days and she would LOVE to see Ron Howard as a contestant on Dancing with the Stars! Ralph Macchio, who will be guest starring on Happily Divorced, was also on the "Black Carpet" and mentioned his favorite shows were Taxi, Cheers, M*A*S*H, Happy Days, Seinfeld. Among the other stars we saw on the carpet were host Kelly Ripa, Faith Ford, Valerie Bertinelli, Tommy Davidson, Fran Drescher, Aviva Frescher, Diane English, David Alan Grier, Pat Harrington, Pee-Wee Herman, Charles Kimbrough, Laurieann Gibson, Lisa Marie Todd, Deidre Lang, David Lander, Penny Marshall, Michael McKean, Kelly Coffield Park, Mackenzie Phillips, Joe Regalbuto, Thomas Roberts, Grant Shaud, Keenen Ivory Wayans, Kim Wayans, Shawn Wayans, Marlon Wayans, and Cindy Williams! Memorable moments on the actual show on this night of top-notch entertainment included a hilarious opening sketch (with 13 costume changes!) by second-time host Kelly Ripa, who started the show coming down from the ceiling dressed as Catwoman from Batman. Later, Murphy Brown co-star Faith Ford (who starred with host Kelly Ripa on Hope & Faith) danced like her alter ego on the show, Corky, while Jim Carrey gave a heartfelt speech when accepting the Groundbreaking Award with his fellow cast members of In Living Color. The TV Land Awards 10th Anniversary also featured amazing performances by Music Icon Award-winner Aretha Franklin singing her hit songs "RESPECT," "Chain of Fools," "I Came To Lift Him Up" and "Ombra Mai Fu,"(some of which will be posted exclusively on TVLand.com). To close the night, the In Living Color Fly Girls danced out the show with Kelly Ripa to The B-52's "Rock Lobster."
Among the presenters, Katie Couric presented the Fan Favorite Award to the cast of Laverne & Shirley. Host Kelly Ripa presented the Impact Award to the cast of Murphy Brown. Whoopi Goldberg presented the Groundbreaking Award to the cast of In Living Color. Mike Myers came by to present the Pop Culture Award to "Pee-wee Herman" for Pee-wee's Playhouse. Fran Drescher, star of TV Land's Happily Divorced, presented the Innovator Award to the cast of One Day at a Time, which included Valerie Bertinelli, who now stars on TV Land's Hot in Cleveland (which leads into Happily Divorced every Wednesday night). And finally, The Music Icon Award was given to celebrated musician and "Queen of Soul" Aretha Franklin, who brought down the house with four of her hit songs and accepted her award from presenter John Legend, who serenaded her on stage. In other news, Fox has pulled struggling second year comedy Breaking In from the schedule. The series was set to return April 24 after a two-week hiatus so Raising Hope can air its two-part finale, but now Fox will not return Breaking In. Instead, repeats of New Girl will air on April 24, May 1 and May 8. May 15 and May 22 Fox has the final two episodes of the season of Glee, at a special time. There is no word yet on if and when the Christian Slater comedy Breaking In will return. Perhaps sometime in the summer? Fox has only aired five episodes of the thirteen episode order.
Let's hope they schedule it soon, as they are even airing the remaining episode of I Hate My Teenage Daughter this June on Sunday from 7-8pm and this comedy is much better. We want to see the Alyssa Milano guest appearance for this season! Stay with us if Fox does indeed schedule Breaking In again...but a chance for a third season is almost zero now. They don't have your back now, unfortunately.

TV Land announced that the cast and show creator behind the cutting-edge and witty CBS series, Murphy Brown – Candice Bergen, Faith Ford, Joe Regalbuto, Charles Kimbrough, Grant Shaud and Diane English – will be honored with the Impact Award at the TV Land Awards 10th Anniversary celebration, taping this Saturday, April 14 at the Lexington Avenue Armory at Gramercy Park in New York City. Previously announced honorees include In Living Color (which now includes former Fly Girl Carrie Ann Inaba), Laverne & Shirley, One Day At A Time, Pee-wee's Playhouse and Aretha Franklin. The TV Land Awards 10th Anniversary will air on Sunday, April 29 at 9pm ET/PT. The 90-minute telecast is hosted by Kelly Ripa.
Additionally, TV Land announced presenters for the show, including esteemed journalist and news anchor Katie Couric from ABC News and actress Fran Drescher, who will be on hand to pay homage to some of television and music's biggest stars. More presenters will be announced in the coming days. In addition, three-time GRAMMY® Award-nominated music group The B-52s will set the mood for the evening, rocking out as the house band for the 10th anniversary show. As for Murphy Brown, the recipient of this year's Impact Award, it infused hot topic current events and shined a light on real-life career and personal issues. The revolutionary show starred Emmy® and Golden Globe® Award-winning actress Candice Bergen as title character Murphy Brown, a reporter for successful primetime news show FYI. With the help of her friends and co-workers – Frank Fontana (Joe Regalbuto), Corky Sherwood (Faith Ford), Jim Dial (Charles Kimbrough) and Miles Silverberg (Grant Shaud) – Murphy was a star journalist who truly had it all, even becoming a single mother later in the series. The show created some of the most memorable episodes with help from guest stars and fellow TV Land Awards honorees and presenters Aretha Franklin and Katie Couric. Murphy Brown aired on CBS from 1988 to 1998.


The votes are in, and TV Guide Magazine has announced the winners of the 2012 Fan Favorites Awards, celebrating the best shows and stars in television. The winning shows and actors received personalized trophies and will be featured in the April 16 issue of TV Guide Magazine, on newsstands tomorrow (Thursday, April 12). The Emmy® Award-winning series In Living Color, which aired from 1990 to 1994, was written by, created by and starred Keenen Ivory Wayans, and also featured Jim Carrey, Tommy Davidson, Shawn Wayans, Marlon Wayans, Kelly Coffield Park, Kim Wayans, T'Keyah Crystal Keymah and David Alan Grier. Receiving the aptly-named Groundbreaking Award at this year's TV Land Awards ceremony, the sketch comedy series was the first of its kind to break down barriers and feature a predominantly African-American cast. Fox has announced it plans on airing the remaining episodes of new sitcom I Hate My Teenage Daughter, which was pulled recently on Tuesday nights. The sitcom has six episodes left out of its thirteen episode order. Fox will air them on Sunday nights from 7-8pm this June for three weeks on June 3, 10 and 17. Animation will return on June 24 with repeats of American Dad and Cleveland Show set to air in the 7pm hour. Fox also said they will air repeats of I Hate My Teenage Daughter on its Saturday night late night block starting June 2. The sitcom will air repeats on Saturday nights at 12am, replacing repeats of New Girl. Repeats of The Finder will remain at 11pm on Saturday nights, which will start May 5.
One more Fox note, they will reair the Fox 25th Anniversary Special on Sunday, June 24 from 8-10pm if you miss it later this month (April 22) when it premieres.

TV Land announced that the beloved casts of Laverne & Shirley (Penny Marshall, Cindy Williams, Michael McKean and David L. Lander) and One Day at a Time (Valerie Bertinelli, Bonnie Franklin, Mackenzie Phillips, Glenn Scarpelli and Pat Harrington Jr.) as well as pop culture phenomenon Pee-wee's Playhouse will be honored at the TV Land Awards 10th Anniversary celebration. The star-studded awards show, which honors classic television, film and music icons, will be held at the Lexington Avenue Armory at Gramercy Park on Saturday, April 14 and air on Sunday, April 29 at 9pm ET/PT. More honorees will be announced in coming weeks. They join previously announced honoree Aretha Franklin (Music Icon Award) and second-time host Kelly Ripa (LIVE! with Kelly, Hope & Faith) for the special decade ceremony.



Fan Favorite Award: Laverne & Shirley still lives in the hearts of viewers everywhere and is the recipient of this year's Fan Favorite Award, which goes to a series that's an All-American classic, with characters who became our friends, stories we could all relate to and irresistible laughs. This is the first time the cast of Laverne & Shirley will be reunited on television in nearly a decade. Laverne & Shirley aired on ABC for eight seasons from 1976-1983 and was a spinoff of the Garry Marshall hit Happy Days. But the show soon found its own avid fans, thanks to loveable stars Penny Marshall as Laverne De Fazio and Cindy Williams as Shirley Feeney, who play best friends and roommates working in a Milwaukee brewery. Constantly annoyed by their neighbors, Leonard "Lenny" Kosnowski (Michael McKean) and Andrew "Squiggy" Squiggman (David L. Lander), Laverne and Shirley learn to navigate their lives as two single young women in 1950s Milwaukee – and later in the series, 1960s Los Angeles.



Innovator Award (aka Impact Award): One Day at a Time is being presented with the Innovator Award, which is given to a television series that carved out new territory, tackled important issues of its day and helped re-defined its genre. The series, which was a hybrid drama/comedy, addressed such taboo topics as pre-marital sex, suicide, sexual harassment and more, breaking barriers and paving the way for future shows to tackle these issues as well. Developed and written in part by TV visionary Norman Lear, One Day at a Time aired on CBS for nine seasons from 1975-1984. Starring Bonnie Franklin, Valerie Bertinelli and Mackenzie Phillips as Ann Romano, Barbara Cooper and Julie Cooper, the series revolved around a family headed by a single mother (Franklin) that relocates to Indianapolis, where their new apartment building super, Dwayne Schneider (Pat Harrington Jr.), befriends them. Also taking part in the cast reunion is Glenn Scarpelli, who joined the series in 1980 as the son of Ann's boyfriend, Nick.



Pop-Culture Award: The 22-time Emmy® Award-winning children's series, Pee-wee's Playhouse, ran on CBS for five seasons from 1986-1991 and has been a staple in pop culture for over 25 years. The title character is portrayed by actor and comedy icon, Paul Reubens, who created what is widely considered one of the most innovative and ground-breaking children's programs in television history. Reubens' wonderfully diverse and colorful playhouse filled with puppets, genies, robots, cowboys and pterodactyls sparked countless imaginations and brought joy and laughter to children and adults alike. The 2012 TV Land Awards, honoring classic television, film and music icons, will return to New York City and be hosted by Kelly Ripa (LIVE! With Kelly). Ripa previously hosted the show in 2007, so this marks the first time a host has returned. Celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, the awards show will honor powerhouse songstress Aretha Franklin with the Music Icon Award and will be held at the Lexington Avenue Armory at Gramercy Park on Saturday, April 14. The 2012 TV Land Awards will air on Sunday, April 29 at 9:00pm ET/PT. More honorees will be announced in coming weeks, so stay with us!
The successful TV Land Awards has scored a decade of success including the record-breaking numbers from the 2011 TV Land Awards, which attracted over 2 million viewers for its premiere telecast. The star-studded special, which was held last year in New York City for the very first time, was the highest rated TV Land Awards show since 2004 across all key demos and posted double-digit gains in rating and delivery over preceding shows. The TV Land Awards pays tribute to classic and contemporary luminaries of television, music and movies. The 90-minute telecast will feature exhilarating musical performances and will reunite some of the most iconic celebrity TV casts.


Beginning Monday, March 12, 2012, Still Standing will return to ABC Family! The sitcom will return to the weekday line-up and air in its old 12 noon and 12:30pm timeslot replacing America's Funniest Home Videos. The sitcom hasn't aired since late January, when it was pulled, as we previously mentioned. No other schedule changes will be made, so you will see Still Standing in between Gilmore Girls (11am) and 8 Simple Rules (1pm).
The series has been airing on ABC Family since Fall 2010. Still Standing is about a blue-collar Chicago couple and former high school sweethearts Judy (Jami Gertz) and Bill Miller (Mark Addy) raising a family and it is a huge challenge--especially with clashing parenting philosophies. Judy takes a more serious stance, while Bill holds a more relaxed approach. See what happens when both styles collide!

We hinted late last week that TV Land will bring back two series to the schedule. We can now reveal what they are! First, they will not be airing in high profile timeslots, but it will be good to see them airing, I guess. First up, TV Land will bring back The Jeffersons from hiatus and will air it Mon-Thurs at 5:30am starting Monday, March 5, 2012. The long-running 70s/80s sitcom will replace one of the Home Improvement encores (on Fridays at 5:30am will now be an extra Three's Company airing). What about the second series? That will be the comedic legal drama Boston Legal starring James Spader and William Shatner. The shat-tastic series will air Fridays at 8am beginning Friday, March 30, 2012. It will be replacing an airing of Murder, She Wrote, which will remain Mon-Thurs at 8am and weekdays at 1pm. There will be no other schedule changes in March or April on TV Land, as of now.
We do have some highlights to share. TV Land will have a week-long marathon of The King of Queens from Monday, April 2 through Sunday, April 8 from 9pm-12am each night. This means the regular Everybody Loves Raymond airings will air from 12-2am instead for this week only. TV Land movies now air on weekends (mostly Saturdays at 2pm) and for March the movies airing are: Miss Congeniality, A League of Their Own, Legends of the Fall, and When Harry Met Sally. As of now, TV Land is not airing movies in April. And finally, probably the most anticipated event of the year for TV Land are the annual TV Land Awards. We can reveal that TV Land will air the 2012 TV Land Awards (the 10th Annual TV Land Awards!) on Sunday, April 22, 2012 at 9pm. The awards will likely tape on Saturday, April 14 (probably in NYC for the second straight year). We will have MUCH more on this when further information is announced. What series will reunite this year after we saw many last year like Welcome Back Kotter, The Cosby Show, Facts of Life and Family Ties. Perhaps the remaining cast members of Three's Company now that Joyce DeWitt and Suzanne Somers have made up will reunite? We shall soon see, but it makes perfect sense as that series will be celebrating its 35th anniversary in March. And to connect it even more, series star the late John Ritter hosted the very first TV Land Awards back in 2002. As of now, TV Land has not booked a special marathon event for Three's Company like it did for the 25th and 30th anniversaries. All we can say is, stay with us for further information!

TBS has ordered 35 additional episodes of the top-rated dramedy Tyler Perry's For Better or Worse, which finished its first season as basic cable's #1 sitcom of 2011. The series from writer-director-executive producer Tyler Perry focuses on three couples at various stages of their relationships. The ensemble cast includes Tasha Smith, Michael Jai White, Crystle Stewart, Kent Faulcon, Kiki Haynes and Jason Olive. Tyler Perry's For Better or Worse will return to its Friday night timeslot this summer.
Tyler Perry's For Better or Worse is produced by Tyler Perry Studios and distributed by Debmar-Mercury. The show premiered on TBS Friday, Nov. 25, 2011, averaging 2.9 million viewers and 1.6 million adults 18-49 for its 10-episode debut season. It finished the year as basic cable's #1 sitcom of 2011 and the #1 show on all of television with African-American adults. Tyler Perry's For Better or Worse follows the ups-and-downs of marriage and dating. The show centers on Angela Williams (Smith), the owner of a successful beauty salon, and her husband of 13 years, Marcus (White). Marcus is a former professional football player who has recently partnered with Richard Ellington (Faulcon) and Joseph Jetson (Olive) on a new sports news program called C-Sports Now. Marcus's business relationship with Richard and Joseph is complicated, however, by the fact that Richard is dating Keisha (Haynes), Marcus's ex-girlfriend and the mother of his teenage daughter. In addition, Joseph's girlfriend, successful real estate agent Leslie (Stewart), is Angela's best friend, which sometimes makes it difficult for the couples to keep their business and private lives from mingling.
In addition to its episode order for Tyler Perry's For Better or Worse, TBS recently announced that this summer, the network will premiere the new sitcoms Men at Work, starring Danny Masterson, James Lesure, Michael Cassidy and Adam Busch, and Sullivan and Son, starring comedian Steve Byrne. Also this year, TBS will launch The Wedding Band, a new one-hour comedy series starring Brian Austin Green, Harold Perrineau, Peter Cambor and Derek Miller, Melora Hardin, Jenny Wade and Kathryn Fiore. As a result, TBS has canceled Meet the Browns after five seasons (140 total episodes). The final episode aired on November 18. TBS will continue to air House of Payne, which is in its eighth season (250 episodes) and airs Fridays at 9pm.

The 2011 TV Land Awards 2011 scored huge, record-breaking numbers for the network, attracting over 2 million viewers for its premiere telecast this past Sunday (April 17) at 9 p.m. ET/PT. This makes it the network's most watched TV Land Awards show ever (not counting simulcast airings on Nick at Nite, which was done the first few years). The star-studded special, which was held in New York City for the very first time, was the highest rated TV Land Awards show since 2004 across all key demos and posted double-digit gains in rating and viewers over last year's show. The 2011 TV Land Awards, which honored John Travolta and the cast of Welcome Back, Kotter, Michael J. Fox and the cast of Family Ties, Bill Cosby and the cast of The Cosby Show, the cast of The Facts of Life, Regis Philbin and music duo Daryl Hall and John Oates, reached nearly 7 million viewers for its premiere night on the network.
The TV Land Awards averaged over 2 million viewers, up 20% over last year's show. Among the network's target Adults 25-54 audience, the special earned a 0.8 rating and 856,000 viewers, an increase of 19% in rating and 16% in viewers 25-54 over 2010's telecast. The special was a hit among Women 25-54, posting a 1.0 rating and 503,000 viewers among women 25-54, up 32% in rating and 30% in viewers over last year. And among the network's core Adults 40-54 audience, it posted a 1.3 rating and 697,000 viewers 40-54, up 19% in rating and 17% in viewers over 2010's show.
Also, this year's TV Land Awards attracted a 48% larger audience to the Awards site section of TVLand.com versus last year, making it the most visited TV Land Awards to date. Social Media played a role in helping to drive this increase, specifically the TV Land Facebook Fan page which drove users to engage with posts on the page via comments and likes, and ultimately clicking through to TVLand.com for additional content around the TV Land Awards. Additionally, the photo gallery featuring celebrities on the red carpet at the show was a hit with visitors on the site, with each fan viewing nearly all 50 photos contained within the gallery.

Celebrity icons from television, film and music joined TV Land last night for the taping of the 2011 TV Land Awards, which, for the first time in the award show's nine-year history, was held in New York. The show, which premieres on TV Land on Sunday, April 17 at 9pm ET/PT, kicked off with a surprise performance by legendary entertainer Liza Minnelli, who performed her rendition of the classic tune "New York, New York." Barbara Walters, Stevie Wonder, Ben Stiller, Jane Lynch, Paul Reiser, Valerie Bertinelli, Jane Leeves, Wendie Malick and the cast of The Real Housewives of New York joined in on the extravaganza at the Jacob Javits Center to honor: entertainment icon Regis Philbin (Legend Award), platinum recording artists Daryl Hall and John Oates (Music Icon Award), and the beloved casts of The Cosby Show (Impact Award), Family Ties (Fan Favorite Award), Welcome Back, Kotter (35th Anniversary Award) and The Facts of Life (Pop Culture Award).
Other memorable moments in the evening included an impromptu performance of "Higher Ground" by music legend Stevie Wonder, famed singer Billy Vera singing "At This Moment," "Alex" and "Ellen's" (real life husband and wife Michael J. Fox and Tracy Pollan) "song" from Family Ties and the annual TV Land parody: a hilarious parody of the Oscar®-winning film The King's Speech starring Cindy Brady (actress Susan Olsen), which played on the memorable episode of The Brady Bunch in which Cindy deals with her lisp. The Real Housewives of New York City – Cindy Barshop, Kelly Bensimon, LuAnn De Lesseps, Alex McCord, Sonja Morgan, Ramona Singer and Jill Zarin – presented a tribute to television housewives throughout the years, which ended with a shot of Joyce Randolph (who played Trixie on The Honeymooners) in the audience.

The main awards recap: Emmy® Award-winner Jane Lynch, whose own hit show Glee takes place at a high school, presented the cast of Welcome Back, Kotter with the 35th Anniversary Award. Golden Globe®-winner and two-time Academy Award® nominee John Travolta reunited with co-stars Gabe Kaplan, Lawrence Hilton-Jacobs, Robert Hegyes, Ellen Travolta and Marcia Strassman to accept the award for the popular edgy sitcom which ran from 1975-1979.
Presented by musical prodigy Stevie Wonder, The Impact Award is given to a show that offered both entertainment and enlightenment, with comedy that reflected reality. The Cosby Show cast – Bill Cosby, Phylicia Rashad, Tempestt Bledsoe, Sabrina LeBeauf, Keshia Knight Pulliam, Raven Symone, Geoffrey Owens and Malcolm-Jamal Warner – accepted the award.
A legend herself, Barbara Walters presented this award to Regis Philbin (LIVE! with Regis and Kelly, Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?), whose career in television has spanned over 50 years and two Emmy® Awards.
Popular television star Paul Reiser (Mad About You) presented this award to "Rock 'N Soul" pioneers and platinum recording artists Daryl Hall and John Oates. The duo received the award for their contribution to music, having sold over 60 million albums worldwide and eight number one singles throughout their long and successful careers. Daryl Hall and John Oates also performed three of their number one singles – "Rich Girl," "Kiss on My List" and "You Make My Dreams."
Valerie Bertinelli, Jane Leeves and Wendie Malick – the stars of TV Land's Hot in Cleveland – presented The Facts of Life cast, including Charlotte Rae, Mindy Cohn, Kim Fields, Nancy McKeon, Lisa Whelchel, Cloris Leachman and Geri Jewell, with The Pop Culture Award. Their memorable characters along with that catchy theme song made The Facts of Life soar to pop culture status in the 1980s.
And finally, the Fan Favorite Award was presented to the Family Ties cast by comedian extraordinaire Ben Stiller. The show won the hearts of viewers everywhere as the fictional Keaton family humorously struggled to deal with a new generation gap and political differences in the 1980s. Cast members Michael J. Fox, Michael Gross, Meredith Baxter, Justine Bateman, Tina Yothers, Tracy Pollan and Marc Price accepted, and singer Billy Vera gave a moving performance of "At This Moment."

Fox Animation Domination newcomer Bob's Burgers has been renewed for a second season, for the 2011-2012 season. The series is almost near the end of its first season, with episode ten airing last night on Fox. The series will return in May for the final three episodes of the season starting May 8.
The animated comedy follows a third-generation restaurateur as he runs his own burger joint with the help of his wife and their three kids. Bob has big ideas about burgers, condiments and sides, but only a few thoughts on customer service and business management. Despite his greasy counters, lousy location and occasionally spotty service, Bob is convinced his burgers speak for themselves. The animated series features the voice talents of H. Jon Benjamin, John Roberts, Dan Mintz, Eugene Mirman and Kristen Schaal.

TV Land announced today that some of television and film's most iconic names will be presenters at the 2011 TV Land Awards.
