Star Power on Maya & Marty; HBO Sets New Premieres for Fall 2016

Maya & Marty

Maya & Marty, the highly anticipated new comedic variety series combining the star power of Maya Rudolph and Martin Short, kicks off a stellar season with special guests Miley Cyrus, Larry David, Jimmy Fallon and Tom Hanks. From executive producer Lorne Michaels, the incomparable Maya Rudolph and Martin Short join forces for an all-new comedy show jam-packed with music, stars and the unique characters and charisma of two of the biggest icons in SNL history. Stars of stage and screen, Rudolph and Short are beloved by audiences of all ages. With Kenan Thompson (SNL, Kenan & Kel) and a dream team of surprise celebrity guests joining them each week, this dynamic duo is ready to unleash the full range of their talents and bring down the house like never before. The series will premiere tonight (Tuesday, May 31) live at 10pm ET, immediately following the two-hour premiere of summer reality series, America's Got Talent. Seven episodes have been ordered and will air live Tuesdays at 10pm.


Divorce

HBO has confirmed fall debuts for the new series Westworld (drama), Divorce, Insecure and High Maintenance (all comedies). The one-hour drama series Westworld (ten episodes) is a dark odyssey about the dawn of artificial consciousness and the evolution of sin. Set at the intersection of the near future and the reimagined past, it explores a world in which every human appetite, no matter how noble or depraved, can be indulged. The cast includes Anthony Hopkins, Ed Harris, Evan Rachel Wood, James Marsden, Thandie Newton, Jeffrey Wright, Tessa Thompson, Sidse Babett Knudsen, Jimmi Simpson, Rodrigo Santoro, Shannon Woodward, Ingrid Bolsø Berdal, Ben Barnes, Simon Quarterman, Angela Sarafyan, Luke Hemsworth and Clifton Collins, Jr.

The half-hour comedy series Divorce (ten episodes) stars Sarah Jessica Parker, who also serves as an executive producer, as Frances, a woman who suddenly begins to reassess her life and her marriage, and finds that making a clean break and a fresh start is harder than she thought. The show also stars Thomas Haden Church, Molly Shannon, Talia Balsam, Tracy Letts, Sterling Jerins and Charlie Kilgore. The half-hour comedy series Insecure (eight episodes), starring Issa Rae, Yvonne Orji, Jay Ellis and Lisa Joyce, looks at the friendship of two black women and their uncomfortable experiences and racy tribulations. And finally, the half-hour comedy series High Maintenance (six episodes) follows a Brooklyn pot dealer who delivers to clients with neuroses as diverse as the city. The show stars Ben Sinclair as "The Guy," a friendly pot dealer whose clients include an eccentric group of characters, revealing the dynamics of their lives. From the unexpected and offbeat to the predictable and mundane, the series provides a glimpse into the daily routines of the customers and how they light things up.

Memorial Day 2016 TV Marathons

Happy Memorial Day! As usual, we have the holiday marathons on a holiday for you! As we pay tribute to our troops every year on this day, let's have some fun as well watching TV marathons on the tube on this day off! If you're not going outside in the heat, then there are plenty of TV options for you on this day! Are you headed to the shore or would you rather watch some good TV marathons like Baywatch? Swim into summer! So bring out your lawn chair, throw some burgers on the BBQ, and watch some television!

Among the marathons today are the marathons we have previously mentioned, such as the Baywatch marathon on COZI TV starting at 8am. Sitcoms getting the marathon treatment on this day include Gidget marathon on Antenna TV today from 7am-11pm. FXX has a marathon of The Simpsons from 6pm-12am. TV Land has a marathon of The Golden Girls from 9 to 5, then a George Lopez marathon from 5-9pm. TBS has a catch-up marathon of their hilarious original comedy The Detour from 2-6pm, so you can get ready for the season finale tonight from 9-10pm. USA Network has a Chrisley Knows Best marathon from 6am-8pm. Oxygen will have a My Wife & Kids marathon from noon to 6pm. Other sitcoms airing today will be in their regular blocks or stacks, like Roseanne from 11am-5pm and Three's Company from 5pm-8pm, both on Logo.

Moving on to dramas, TV One has an Empire Memorial Day marathon. UP launches Parenthood with a marathon tonight from 8pm-1am, after stacks of AFV and Gilmore Girls beginning at 8am today. ION will have a marathon of Blue Bloods again this year from 9am-3am. TNT will have a promotional marathon for The Last Ship from 7am-8pm, which returns June 12 on TNT for its new season. Other notable marathons include In the Hear of the Night marathon on WGN America from 9am-3pm. It wouldn't be a holiday without some kind of Law & Order marathon, and WE tv has that covered with a Law & Order: Criminal Intent marathon from 10am-4pm, followed by a CSI: Miami marathon from 4pm-5am.

Reality series wise, Esquire will showcase American Ninja Warrior with a marathon from 7am-12am. Cloo has a 24-hour marathon of Cops starting at 6am. Spend the day with some rich kids in #RichKids of Beverly Hills on E! from 7am-12pm, followed of course by a marathon of Keeping Up with the Kardashians from 12pm-12am. MTV has a marathon of Ridiculousness from 3am-9am. Other reality best bets for the day are Impractical Jokers marathon on truTV, The Real Housewives of Orange County marathon on Bravo from 6am-2pm, Bizarre Foods marathon on Travel Channel, Dr. Phil on OWN from 7am-2pm, Beachfront Bargain Hunt marathon on HGTV, Love & Hip Hop Atlanta marathon on VH1 and Say Yes to the Dress marathon on TLC.

If you like movies on TV, watch Mad Max movie marathon on BBC America beginning at 10:30am. Disney Channel will have an original movie marathon beginning at 10am with movies like High School Musical and The Cheetah Girls. History will air Saving Private Ryan a few times beginning at 5pm. IFC will have a marathon of Jaws films beginning at 12pm. And you can of course catch movies all day on Lifetime, LMN, Freeform, TCM and other networks that usually air movies. Enjoy!!

Final Week of 2015-16 Season TV Ratings and Analysis; How the Sitcoms Did

2015-16 Week 36 TV Ratings (final three nights of season Mon-Wed, LIVE+SD): 

Households: #1. NBC 5.13/9 rating/share (+22% in rating from first four nights week 35); #2. ABC 4.65/8 (+16%); #3. CBS 3.61/6 (-33%); #4. Fox 1.79/3 (-34%); #5. The CW 1.19/2 (+14%).
Total Viewers: #1. NBC 8.173 million (+25% from first four nights week 35); #2. ABC 7.125 million (+17%); #3. CBS 5.605 million (-35%); #4. Fox 2.753 million (-37%); #5. The CW 1.851 million (+13%).
Adults 18-49: #1. NBC 1.64/6 rating/share (+20% in rating from first four nights week 35); #2. ABC 1.52/5 (+13%); #3. CBS 1.02/4 (-36%); #4. Fox 0.93/3 (-27%); #5. The CW 0.68/2 (+10%).

We have previous week's final ratings, Week 35 (5/16/16-5/22/16, LIVE+SD). ABC won the week in A18-49 with a 1.44 rating, thanks to the Billboard Music Awards.  CBS was #2 with a 1.19 rating. NBC was third with a 1.05 rating, while Fox was #4 with 0.99 rating.  Among total viewers, CBS was #1 with 6.933 million, with ABC #2 at 5.886 million.  NBC was #3 with 5.034 million and Fox at #4 with only 3.232 million.

For final season (9/21/15-5/25/16, LIVE+SD) numbers, CBS was #1 in A18-49 with a 1.79 rating, followed by NBC at #2 with a 1.71 rating. Fox at #3 with a 1.47 rating and ABC at #4 with a 1.34 rating. Among total viewers CBS was also #1 at 9.104 million, followed by NBC at #2 with 6.806 million, ABC at #3 with 5.454 million and Fox at #4 with 4.707 million.
