Apple TV+ Orders Comedy Still Up; Peacock Brings Us Mystery of the Week with Poker Face
Apple TV+ announces new almost-romantic comedy Still Up, set in the after-hours world of insomniacs Danny and Lisa, who have no secrets except for their feelings for each other. Free-spirited Lisa is an aspiring illustrator working as a waitress, raising her young daughter Poppy alongside loving partner Veggie. Danny is a gifted journalist suffering from extreme anxiety that profoundly impacts his life. While the rest of the world sleeps, these two friends spend their long nights talking, and despite being apart, they have come to rely on each other in the hazy, heightened evening hours. As their unique relationship unfolds, we begin to realize that they may be much more than friends.
The production hails from Various Artists Limited, whose projects also include the Emmy Award-winning series I May Destroy You and BAFTA Award winning Sally4ever" and is executive produced by BAFTA Award winner Paul Schlesinger (Twenty Twelve) and Emmy award winning Phil Clarke (I May Destroy You). The series is co-created & written by Steve Burge (Seekers) and Natalie Walter; Bryce Hart (Ten Percent) also writes on the series. It is directed by BAFTA Award nominee John Addis (Lucky Break). Still Up stars: Antonia Thomas (The Good Doctor, Small Axe, Lovesick) as Lisa, an impulsive and free-spirited aspiring illustrator and Craig Roberts (Red Oaks, Submarine) as Danny, who has a ball of self-deprecating wit and neurotic anxiety. The series premieres January 26 with four episodes on Peacock, followed by a new episode streaming Thursdays. Never underestimate the power of a good dinner conversation between friends. What started as a discussion over steak frites about detective shows and what made them such a reliable pleasure - the exploration of little worlds within each new setting, the guest stars playing killers and victims, and most importantly, a scrappy protagonist you were always ready to kick back with and see win - ultimately resulted in the creation of Charlie, the driving force behind Poker Face.

Fox Entertainment has given an early Season Two renewal to its upcoming animated comedy Grimsburg, starring and executive-produced by Emmy Award winner Jon Hamm (Mad Men, Confess, Fletch). Wholly owned by Fox Entertainment and produced by Fox's Emmy-winning animation studio, Bento Box Entertainment, Grimsburg centers on Marvin Flute (Hamm), who may be the greatest detective ever to catch a cannibal clown and correctly identify a mid-century modern armoire. But there's one mystery he still can't crack - himself. To do that he must return to Grimsburg, a town where everyone has a secret or three, and redeem himself in the eyes of his fellow detectives, his ferocious ex-wife and his lovably unstable son. Grimsburg will premiere in 2023. The series joins Fox Entertainment's other all-new animated comedy, Krapopolis, which last week also was renewed for a second season. Both programs will be introduced to international program buyers this week at MIPCOM CANNES by Fox's recently formed content sales unit, Fox Entertainment Global.
