FX's Final Season of What We Do in the Shadows; Lifetime Acquires Taye Diggs and Meagan Good Film

What We Do in the Shadows

FX announced that the final season of its critically acclaimed comedy What We Do in the Shadows will premiere on Monday, October 21 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on FX with the first three episodes of the 11-episode sixth season. All episodes will stream the next day on Hulu, where fans can also stream all five previous seasons. Internationally, the series' previous seasons are available to stream on Disney+, with season 6 coming soon.

What We Do in the Shadows will kick off its Farewell Tour this Thursday, July 25 at San Diego Comic-Con with a panel discussion featuring stars Matt Berry ("Laszlo Cravensworth"), Kayvan Novak ("Nandor the Relentless"), Mark Proksch ("Colin Robinson") and Kristen Schaal ("The Guide"), along with Executive Producer/Writer Paul Simms and Executive Producer/Director Kyle Newacheck. The special panel event will run from 3:30 p.m. PT - 4:30 p.m. PT in Hall H and will give fans an exclusive look at a brand-new episode from the upcoming season. Last week, What We Do in the Shadows earned eight Primetime Emmy Award nominations for its fifth season including Outstanding Comedy Series, Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series (Matt Berry) as well as nominations for Writing, Costumes, Production Design, Picture Editing, Sound Mixing and Stunt Coordination. What We Do in the Shadows documents the nightly exploits of vampire roommates Nandor (Kayvan Novak), Laszlo (Matt Berry), Nadja (Natasia Demetriou) and Colin Robinson (Mark Proksch) as they navigate the modern world of Staten Island with the help of their former familiar and current human friend, Guillermo (Harvey Guillén) as well as their vampire bureaucrat acquaintance, The Guide (Kristen Schaal).

After a very brief stint as a full-blown vampire, Guillermo is re-evaluating his life. Who is he if not a familiar who will do anything to please his Master in hopes of one day being turned into a vampire? Meanwhile, the vampires are reevaluating, too. When their former roommate reappears after a 50-year nap, they realize how little they've done in half a century - not one goal accomplished, not one dream pursued, not one part of the New World conquered (except for their street and part of Ashley Street). In the sixth and final season of the Emmy-nominated comedy, Nandor, Nadja, Laszlo, Colin and Guillermo will enter the workforce, visit New Hampshire, go to a human dinner party, fête The Baron and conjure a demon - all while trying to find their place and their purpose in this crazy, mixed-up world.

The series centers on the Witherspoon family and the challenges they face adjusting to life with three generations living in the same house. 15-year-old Kris aimed to become an Air Force test pilot someday. The cast included Wilford Brimley, Deidre Hall, Chad Allen, Keri Houlihan and Gerald S. O'Loughlin.

Beverly Hills 90210

Doherty starred as Brenda Walsh on the Fox teen drama from 1990 to 1994. The initial premise of the show was based on the adjustment and culture shock that twins Brandon (Jason Priestley) and Brenda Walsh experienced when they and their parents, Jim (James Eckhouse) and Cindy (Carol Potter), moved from Minneapolis, Minnesota, to Beverly Hills, California. Doherty was fired from the series at the end of the fourth season in 1994.

Charmed

She starred as Prue Halliwell on The WB's fantasy drama Charmed from 1998 to 2001. Doherty also directed three episodes during the second and third seasons. She was was allegedly fired by producer Aaron Spelling after the third season after he received an ultimatum from Milano because of their on-set and off-set tensions between them.

Doherty had a recurring role Alexandra Hudson in 11 episodes of the 2004-2005 Fox drama North Shore. Alexandra Hudson is Walter Booth's (Christopher McDonald) supposed illegitimate child by a secretary – thus making her Nicole's (Brooke Burns) half-sister.

BH90210

She reprised her role as Brenda Walsh in seven episodes of the first season (2008-2009) of The CW's teen drama 90210. She played herself in the short-lived 2009 Fox comedy-drama BH90210. The series focuses on the original cast members of Beverly Hills, 90210 — Jason Priestley, Jennie Garth, Ian Ziering, Gabrielle Carteris, Brian Austin Green, Tori Spelling, and Shannen Doherty — playing heightened, fictionalized versions of themselves. The cast also served as executive producers.

Doherty guest starred with Christina Applegate and Robyn Lively in a 1985 episode of The New Leave it to Beaver. She appeared with other Beverly Hills, 90210 stars in a 1992 episode of Parker Lewis Can't Lose.

The series was originally developed as a vehicle and sitcom debut for Doherty under the working title Wingwoman. Though picked up by UPN, Doherty was removed from the project at the request of the network due to her poor reception by preview audiences. She was replaced by Busy Philipps.

Some of her other television guest apperances included Father Murphy (2 episodes), The Phoenix, Voyagers!, Magnum, P.I. (1983), Airwolf, Highway to Heaven, 21 Jump Street, Life Goes On and Heathers (3 episodes). She appeared as a stranded motorist on Riverdale as part of a tribute to Luke Perry, who died in 2019.

She had a cameo as herself in Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back (2001).

Ms. Doherty was very good and memorable in her television dramas over the years. She could play good girl and bad girl roles equally well. Our House is a somewhat forgotten family drama, which should be available on DVD or streaming. We thank her for her work on television and in films. She bravely battled cancer since 2015. Last season's new series Tracker returns Sunday, Oct. 27, while The Equalizer also returns that night.

A.V.A. Fest

Downtown San Diego will be home to carnivals, factories, pop-up restaurants and more as Disney Entertainment Television touts a star-studded and immersive lineup of programming across its portfolio of content brands including 20th Television, 20th Television Animation, ABC, ABC Signature, Disney Branded Television, FX and Hulu. Beginning Thursday, July 25, Hulu's Animayhem Factory, ABC's A.V.A. Fest (A Very Abbott Festival), and #FXSDCC outdoor activations will be open to the public directly outside the San Diego Convention Center. Plus, inside the convention halls, the Disney Entertainment Television booth will have 12 autograph signing sessions with talent from fan-favorite series.

Abbott Elementary will reach new heights at San Diego Comic-Con, inviting attendees to experience A.V.A. Fest (A Very Abbott Festival) firsthand. Inspired by two fan-favorite episodes from the series, this carnival-themed activation is poised to be Abbott's biggest, flashiest, "over-the-top and unhinged" fan experience to date. From a soaring swing ride to a colorful ball pit photo op and the chance to “dunk a white dude,” guests will encounter a wide variety of series-themed games and attractions inspired by its beloved characters. Also not to be missed – hourly live performances by the official Philadelphia Eagles Drumline and an exclusive festival playlist curated by Questlove. Hulu is bringing Animayhem back to San Diego Comic-Con with a zany, 2D-ifying factory where its beloved animated series are made. The factory is complete with Hulu's most iconic animated titles like Bob's Burgers, Family Guy, Futurama, The Simpsons and more. The activation is located right next to the Convention Center in the Bayfront’s Parking Lot.

FX will host a can't-miss series of immersive experiences transporting fans into their favorite FX series with interactive experiences, exclusive merch and photo opportunities including FX's The Bear Restaurant Pop-Up, the FX Fearless Hellevator, and featuring It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia and What We Do in the Shadows.
