TV Land Picks Up Alicia Silverstone Series American Woman; FXX Comedies Return Jan. 4
TV Land announced the series pickup of 1970s period dramedy American Woman, starring Alicia Silverstone (Clueless, Suburgatory), Mena Suvari (American Beauty, Chicago Fire) and Jennifer Bartels (Broken). Inspired by the real-life upbringing of co-executive producer Kyle Richards (The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills), American Woman is written and executive produced by Emmy® winner John Riggi (30 Rock, The Comeback), and is executive produced by Emmy® winner John Wells (Shameless, ER, The West Wing). The 12-episode series will be produced by John Wells Productions in association with Warner Horizon Television for TV Land. Alex Hardcastle (You're the Worst) directed and served as executive producer on the pilot. Set amid the sexual revolution and the rise of second-wave feminism, American Woman follows Bonnie (Silverstone), an unconventional mother struggling to raise her two daughters (Makenna James and Lia Ryan McHugh) after leaving her husband. With the help of her two best friends, Kathleen (Suvari) and Diana (Bartels), these three women will each discover their own brand of independence in a world reluctant to give it.
The series will premiere sometime in 2017...so stay tuned.

Man Seeking Woman will premiere its 3rd season on Wednesday, January 4 at 10:30 PM ET/PT on FXX. Man Seeking Woman is back with a surreal new season about the life-and-death stakes of dating. "Josh Greenberg" (Jay Baruchel) has battled a lot in his quest for love (flesh-eating monsters, homicidal aliens). But this season will see him face his toughest challenge yet: a serious, long-term relationship. Together, Josh and Lucy (Katie Findlay) will take on anniversaries, merging friend groups, ruthless drug lords, friendly forest creatures, student loans and even God himself. In order to make it, they'll have to work together and learn to live their lives as a team. The series also stars Eric Andre (The Eric Andre Show) as "Mike," Josh's confident and daring best friend; and Britt Lower (Unforgettable) as "Liz," Josh's intimidating older sister. Man Seeking Woman is based on Simon Rich's book of short stories, The Last Girlfriend on Earth. Rich created the series and also serves as Executive Producer/Showrunner. Jonathan Krisel, Andrew Singer and Lorne Michaels, and Broadway Video also serve as Executive Producers. Man Seeking Woman is produced by FX Productions.
