SitcomsOnline Digest: Original Twin Peaks Series to Stream on Showtime Services; CBS Passes on Additional Episodes of Pure Genius

Happy Thanksgiving weekend, and welcome to SitcomsOnline Digest! With the holiday week, not much has been happening, but we still have a somewhat busy week with news of some old things coming to streaming services, an unofficial cancellation of one of the new fall 2016 series, and more. Let's get going!

HIGHLIGHTS FROM SITCOMSONLINE.COM AND AROUND THE WEB
  • It's old news by now that Twin Peaks will be returning as a miniseries to Showtime next year, but before you get into that, Showtime is going to be bringing the two seasons of the original series (which aired on ABC from 1990 to 1991) to their streaming and on-demand services later next month. (Entertainment Weekly
  • Though it hasn't been officially cancelled yet, CBS has decided to pass on additional episodes of Pure Genius, likely making it the second series among the big four broadcasting networks cancelled this season. (TVLine)
  • Hulu has scored exclusive streaming rights to the 1998-2005 Cartoon Network series The Powerpuff Girls. (Variety)
  • Florence Henderson, who played the role of Carol Brady on The Brady Bunch, died this week, and all of the children (as well as others) have shared what she meant to them. (Deadline)
  • ABC decided to go in big on game shows last summer, and it seemed to work, so now they'll be bringing two of them back for a short run in January before their extended run next summer. (SitcomsOnline)
  • A lot of the Thanksgiving weekend marathons already happened, but you can still get a few leftovers this weekend, particularly as FXX continues their second run of airing every episode of The Simpsons. (SitcomsOnline)

FOLLOW ME

Who to Follow: Christopher Knight (Twitter), "Television icon Christopher Knight is proud to debut his line of finely crafted, budget friendly furniture for your home or business."
Claim to Fame: If you have no clue who Christopher Knight is, it may seem odd that we're featuring a furniture designer as our Follow Me this week, but you probably do know who he is if you follow this blog. Knight, of course, played Peter Brady on The Brady Bunch. He did some acting after that series ended, but in the late 80s, he managed to find employment in the tech industry that actually ended up being even more lucrative for him. While he wasn't quite a Steve Jobs or Bill Gates, he did well enough that he could never be described as a "failed" child star. But he never completely left the entertainment industry either, most notably having his own VH-1 reality show, My Fair Brady, which ran for three seasons. These days, as you can tell from his Twitter feed, he is active in furniture design.
