Ted: The Animated Series Premieres December 17 on Peacock; Trailer for Apple TV's Small Prophets

From Seth MacFarlane, comes Ted: The Animated Series, a sequel to the beloved Ted and Ted 2 films. This series reunites MacFarlane, who reprises his role as the voice of Ted, with his big screen castmates: Mark Wahlberg, as the voice of Ted's best friend, John; Amanda Seyfried, as the voice of John's wife, Sam; and Jessica Barth as Ted's wife, Tami-Lynn. Picking up twelve years after the conclusion of the last movie, John and his thunder-buddy Ted are neighbors, both with families of their own and dead-end jobs. Follow these two lovable stoners as they enable each other's bad ideas about marriage, parenting and the challenges of adult life.
Ted: The Animated Series premieres with 8-episodes on Thursday, December 17. Additional episodes will stream in 2027. Starring the voices of Seth MacFarlane, Mark Wahlberg, Amanda Seyfried, Jessica Barth, Kyle Mooney and Liz Richman.

Apple TV debuted the season one trailer for Small Prophets, the acclaimed six-episode comedy from BAFTA Award-winning creator, writer and director Mackenzie Crook (Detectorists). The series will premiere on Apple TV with the first two episodes on October 7, 2026 excluding the U.K., where it will be available to Apple TV subscribers in 2027. New episodes will premiere every Wednesday through November 4, 2026.
The series features a host of beloved comedy stars including Crook, Pearce Quigley (Detectorists), Lauren Patel (Waterloo Road), BAFTA Award winner Sir Michael Palin (Monty Python), BAFTA Award winner Sophie Willan (Alma’s Not Normal), BAFTA Award nominee Jon Pointing (Big Boys) and SAG Award nominee Paul Kaye (Game of Thrones).
Small Prophets is a comic tale of the eccentric Michael Sleep (Quigley) who, since his darling Clea disappeared seven years ago, has lived a very ordinary life. He works in a DIY store, visits his dad Brian (Palin) and hopes for Clea to return. One day Brian shares an old recipe involving rainwater, horse manure and more than a little alchemy. With recipe in hand, Michael sets out (albeit with some skepticism) to create homunculi - magical spirits that can predict the future - in the hope they have the answer to his burning question, “will I ever see Clea again?”
Michael gets help from his young coworker Kacey (Patel), an unlikely friendship that blossoms partly (but not wholly) through their mutual dislike of store manager Gordon (Mackenzie Crook). Their friendship adds to the frustration and intrigue of his nosy neighbors (Willan, Pointing) who are obsessed with trying to find out what the hell is going on in the garden shed.

Ted Season 2 Trailer Released; Remembering T.K. Carter of Punky Brewster, TV Director Tom Cherones, and Others We Recently Lost

The trailer is out! All episodes of Ted Season 2 premiere Thursday, March 5 only on Peacock. It's 1994, and senior year of high school is underway for Ted the foul-mouthed teddy bear and his best friend, likable but awkward John Bennett. Together they live in a working-class Boston home with John's parents (Matty and Susan) and cousin (Blaire). Matty is a blustering, blue-collar Bostonian who sees himself as the unequivocal boss of the house and doesn't like anyone challenging him, particularly his liberal-minded niece. Susan is kind, selfless, and almost pathologically sweet when it comes to caring for her family. Blaire is an outspoken college student who often finds herself at odds with her more traditional-minded relatives. Starring Seth MacFarlane, Max Burkholder, Alanna Ubach, Scott Grimes, Giorgia Whigham. 8 episodes will air.
The hit comedic prequel series to the Ted films finds us in the '90s, and Ted the bear's (Seth MacFarlane) moment of fame has passed. He's now living back home in Framingham, Massachusetts with his best friend, 17-year-old John Bennett (Max Burkholder), along with John's parents, Matty and Susan (Scott Grimes and Alanna Ubach) and cousin Blaire (Giorgia Whigham). Ted may be a lousy influence on John, but at the end of the day, he's a loyal pal who's always willing to go out on a limb for friendship. Following its January 11, 2024 launch, season one of Ted broke records as Peacock's most-watched original title and was the #1 Original Streaming Comedy in the U.S. for more than two consecutive months (per Nielsen). The series was also a global hit becoming the biggest U.S. comedy launch on Sky in the UK in 15 years.
In addition to the live-action prequel series, Peacock is expanding the Ted universe with the upcoming Ted: The Animated Series (WT), which will pick up where the Ted films left off and will feature Seth MacFarlane, Mark Wahlberg, Amanda Seyfried, Jessica Barth, Kyle Mooney, and Liz Richman voicing the roles. Both series are produced by UCP, a division of Universal Studio Group, Fuzzy Door, and MRC, the latter of which also produced the original Ted films.

Actor T.K. (Thomas Kent) Carter, who starred as Mike Fulton in Punky Brewster and as Mylo Williams in Good Morning, Miss Bliss, has died. He died at his home in Duarte, California, on January 9. Mr. Carter was 69.

Carter's first starring role on television was as Shabu in the short-lived 1983 ABC sitcom Just Our Luck. Created by brothers Lawrence and Charles Gordon, it was considered a modernized version of the 1960s sitcom I Dream of Jeannie and starred Richard Gilliland as Keith Barrow, a mild-mannered TV weatherman for KPOX-TV, and Carter as a hip, fun-loving 3,000-year-old genie who is freed by Gilliland after being imprisoned in his bottle for nearly two centuries. It also starred Ellen Maxted, Rod McCary, Richard Schaal, Hamilton Camp, and Leonard Simon.

Beckley (Willie Norwood), who face several issues which they work through together. Clarence Hull is David's best friend and former roommate, who had to move out when the kids moved in. The cast included Nancy Williams, Hal Williams, and Salma Hayek (3 episodes in 1993).
Some of his sitcom guest appearances included Good Times (2 episodes), The Jeffersons, 227, Family Matters, A Different World, Moesha, The Gregory Hines Show, The Steve Harvey Show (4 episodes), The Nanny, Everybody Hates Chris, and Love That Girl!. Ubach (Euphoria, The Flight Attendant, See Dad Run) to star alongside previously announced series regulars Giorgia Whigham, Max Burkholder and Scott Grimes in UCP and MRC Television Series. MacFarlane is set to reprise iconic voice role and direct, write, co-showrun and executive produce all episodes alongside co-showrunners, writers and executive producers Paul Corrigan & Brad Walsh (Modern Family).
Ubach will play the role of Susan Bennett. Susan is kind, selfless, and almost pathologically sweet when it comes to caring for her family, and sees the world through naive, rose-colored glasses. MacFarlane (The Orville, Ted & Ted 2, Family Guy) is set to reprise the voice of the iconic and loveable foul-mouthed teddy bear Ted, and will also direct, write, co-showrun and executive produce all episodes alongside co-showrunners, writers and executive producers Paul Corrigan and Brad Walsh (Modern Family). Peacock also previously announced series regular stars Giorgia Whigham (The Punisher, 13 Reasons Why), Max Burkholder (Parenthood) and Scott Grimes (Oppenheimer, The Orville). The series comes from MacFarlane's Fuzzy Door and will be executive produced by President Erica Huggins. Alana Kleiman and Jason Clark will also serve as executive producers. Clark is returning after producing the iconic Ted film franchise. The upcoming series comes from UCP, a division of Universal Studio Group, and MRC Television. About the new series, Ted: It's 1993 and Ted the bear's moment of fame has passed, leaving him living with his best friend, 16-year-old John Bennett, who lives in a working-class Boston home with his parents and cousin. Ted may not be the best influence on John, but when it comes right down to it, Ted's willing to go out on a limb to help his friend and his family.
Ted is the second series order since MacFarlane and Fuzzy Door signed a multi-year television deal with UCP in 2020. Also coming to Peacock this year from Fuzzy Door is the disaster science series The End is Nye, hosted by Emmy Award-winner and renowned science educator Bill Nye. Fuzzy Door will produce alongside Universal Television Alternative Studio and UCP, divisions of Universal Studio Group. Next up for the company is The Orville: New Horizons, the highly anticipated third season of the Emmy-nominated space adventure series, premiering on Hulu on June 2.

Peacock also announced that Neve Campbell (Scream 5, Clouds, Part of Five) will recur as guest star in the new action-comedy series Twisted Metal, a live-action adaptation of the global video game phenomenon. Anthony Mackie (The Falcon and the Winter Soldier) is also starring and executive producing. Stephanie Beatriz (Encanto, Brooklyn Nine-Nine) to co-star opposite Mackie, alongside Thomas Haden Church (Wings, Sideways, Divorce, Spider-Man: No Way Home). Will Arnett and Marc Forman from Electric Avenue (Murderville) secured the rights to the material and helped put the project together alongside Asad Qizilbash and Carter Swan from PlayStation Productions, are also set to executive produce.
Michael Jonathan Smith (Cobra Kai) will serve as showrunner, writer and executive producer for the live-action comedy from Sony Pictures Television, PlayStation Productions and Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group. Kitao Sakurai (The Eric Andre Show, Bad Trip) will executive produce and direct multiple episodes of the series. Twisted Metal, a half-hour live-action TV series based on the classic PlayStation game series, is a high-octane action comedy, based on an original take by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick (Deadpool, Zombieland) about a motor-mouthed outsider offered a chance at a better life, but only if he can successfully deliver a mysterious package across a post-apocalyptic wasteland. With the help of a trigger-happy car thief, he'll face savage marauders driving vehicles of destruction and other dangers of the open road, including a deranged clown who drives an all too familiar ice cream truck.

Fri-Yay: Kim's Convenience Is An Underrated Streaming Sitcom; Ted Revived as Series for Peacock

by Vincent
I've talked before about how I'm still waiting for another truly great streaming sitcom to pop up. We've had many very good streaming sitcoms, but it's been a while since we had a true stone cold classic. Kim's Convenience, though, is a solid candidate for just that. The series has very much flown under the radar. But I've spent the past several weeks watching the show, and while I'm bummed it will end with its current 5th season, I'm excited that a funny and charming series is available to easily stream.
Kim's Convenience is actually a Canadian sitcom, but it's shown via Netflix in the US. Similar to previously popular Canadian sitcom Corner Gas, it's a very light hearted but funny series with lovable characters. Unfortunately, apparent disagreements between producers and writers and the departure of two co-creators led to the series ending with Season 5, but don't let that stop you from giving the series a binge and enjoying its light hearted fun.

Peacock has announced a straight-to-series order for Ted, from UCP, a division of Universal Studio Group, and MRC Television. The series is based on the hit Universal Pictures and MRC Film's Ted, the highest grossing original R-rated comedy of all time (not a sequel or based on other IP). Collectively Ted and Ted 2 grossed more than $750 million worldwide. Seth MacFarlane is in negotiations to reprise the voice of the iconic and lovable foul-mouthed teddy bear. The live-action comedy series, based on Seth MacFarlane's feature films released by Universal Pictures with MRC Film, will be executive produced by MacFarlane and Erica Huggins for Fuzzy Door. This is the second series order since MacFarlane and Fuzzy Door signed an overall development deal with UCP in 2020. Earlier this year, Peacock announced a series order of The End is Nye hosted by Bill Nye. The series is produced by Universal Television Alternative Studio and UCP, divisions of Universal Studio Group, and Fuzzy Door. Stay tuned for more info on the half-hour single-camera series version of Ted!
