Netflix confirmed that the final season of Survival of the Thickest, Season 3, will include guest stars Wanda Sykes (The Upshaws, Please and Thank You Tour), D.L. It's 1994, and senior year of high school is underway for Ted the foul-mouthed teddy bear and his best friend, likable but awkward John Bennett. Together they live in a working-class Boston home with John's parents (Matty and Susan) and cousin (Blaire). Matty is a blustering, blue-collar Bostonian who sees himself as the unequivocal boss of the house and doesn't like anyone challenging him, particularly his liberal-minded niece. Susan is kind, selfless, and almost pathologically sweet when it comes to caring for her family. Blaire is an outspoken college student who often finds herself at odds with her more traditional-minded relatives.

Starring Seth MacFarlane, Max Burkholder, Alanna Ubach, Scott Grimes, and Giorgia Whigham. 8 episodes will drop.

Goosebumps: The Vanishing Premieres January 10; Michelle Buteau Gets 2nd Netflix Special

The official trailer for Goosebumps: The Vanishing, the next chapter of the thrilling anthology series inspired by R.L. Stine's beloved Goosebumps books, was revealed during the show's panel at New York Comic Con. Goosebumps: The Vanishing begins when twins Cece and Devin Brewer are sent to spend a summer in Gravesend, Brooklyn, with their divorced dad. A threat is stirring, and they quickly realize that dark secrets are among them, triggering a chain of events that unravel a profound mystery. As they delve into the unknown, Cece, Devin and their friends - Alex, CJ and Frankie - find themselves entangled in the chilling tale of four teenagers who mysteriously vanished in 1994.

Goosebumps: The Vanishing premieres all eight episodes on Friday, January 10, 2025, across Disney+ and Hulu. The series stars David Schwimmer as Anthony, Ana Ortiz as Jen, Jayden Bartels as Cece, Sam McCarthy as Devin, Elijah M. Michelle Buteau is an actress, comedian, producer and writer. The multihyphenate stars in the Netflix comedy series Survival of the Thickest, which she created and executive produces. Inspired by her autobiographical book of essays of the same name, the series was renewed for a second season and will return in 2025. Buteau received the 55th NAACP Image Award for "Outstanding Breakthrough Creative (Television)" for the series.

Buteau was seen earlier this year in the hit comedy Babes, alongside Ilana Glazer and directed by Pamela Adlon. Next, she will soon begin production on the comedy, Spa Weekend opposite Leslie Mann, Isla Fisher and Anna Faris. Buteau is also host of the hit Netflix reality competition show, The Circle, which released its seventh season in September 2024, as well as the second season of Netflix's Barbecue Showdown.

Tasha Smith will also shift from a recurring character to a series regular and will direct 2 episodes. Netflix announced the renewal of Somebody Feed Phil, from Emmy, James Beard Award, and Critics Choice Award-winner Phil Rosenthal of Everybody Loves Raymond. The Emmy-nominated series, which is one of Netflix's longest running unscripted series, premiered its seventh season in March 2024. Season 8 will once again follow Phil on his culinary adventures as he takes in the local cuisine and cultures of cities around the world. Somebody Feed Phil was nominated for a 2024 Critics Choice Real TV Award; won a 2022 Critics Choice Real TV Award for "Best Travel/Adventure Show", and Rosenthal received the "Male Star of The Year" award in 2021 from Critics Choice Real TV Awards. The series also garnered a 2022 James Beard Award nomination for "Visual Media - Long Form."

Bob Hearts Abishola Coming to Syndication This Fall; Off Script With The Hollywood Reporter Returns in May

Bob Hearts Abishola is ending its run on CBS this spring but it will premiere in broadcast syndication this fall for a three-year deal on such station groups as Nexstar Media Group, Sinclair, Hearst Television, Tegna, E.W. Scripps, Weigel Broadcasting, Sunbeam Television, Gray Television, Mission Broadcasting, Lockwood Broadcast Group and Bahakel Broadcasting. It will join other fellow Chuck Lorre sitcoms in broadcast syndication - The Big Bang Theory, Young Sheldon, Mom and Two and a Half Men. The sitcom stars Billy Gardell as Bob, a middle-aged compression sock businessman in Detroit who falls for his cardiac nurse, Abishola (Folake Olowofoyeku), a Nigerian immigrant, while recovering from a heart attack. Undaunted by Abishola’s initial lack of interest or vast differences in their backgrounds, Bob is determined to win her heart, and eventually marries her in this comedic examination of immigrant life in America.

The Hollywood Reporter (THR) announced the return of the Emmy(R)-nominated series, Off Script With The Hollywood Reporter with five new episodes of Emmy contenders, featuring themed episodes including Comedy Actress, Drama Actor, Comedy Actor, Drama Actress and Stand-Up. The new season is set to premiere on Friday, May 24, at a new time of 10 pm PT/1 am ET exclusively on IFC and streaming on AMC+. New episodes will continue on Fridays.

Bupkis Renewed for Season 2; Michelle Buteau's Survival of the Thickest Premieres July 13

Netflix Sitcom with Michelle Buteau Rounds Out Cast; HBO Max Renews Harley Quinn for Season 4

The scripted comedy is based on Buteau's acclaimed book of essays. Tone Bell will play Khalil, Mavis's bestie and first phone call since high school. He's a creative and talented artist who has always prided himself on making life choices that keep things simple, affordable (nothing wrong with clipping coupons!), and uncomplicated. But now in his very late 30s, he starts to question what really matters and if life is worth complicating for the right person. Tasha Smith will play Marley, an early 50's self-made millionaire. She's a woman of NYC status who always has a fresh luxury manicure and the best day and night serums money can buy (we love to see it!). She gives that Aries tell-it-like-it-is energy, but there's still an ever-present warm big sister vibe. She just wants the best for everybody, and she knows what the best is.

Linda Mendoza (Never Have I Ever, 30 Rock, Girs5Eva, Brooklyn 9-9) will direct the first two episodes of Survival of the Thickest. Linda most recently wrapped as executive producer and director of Harlem. The series is created by Buteau and Danielle Sanchez-Witzel and will be executive produced by A24 and Anne Hong from Mosaic. Sanchez-Witzel is also the showrunner for the series.

The critically-acclaimed Max Original adult-animated series Harley Quinn has been renewed for a fourth season, ahead of the season three finale on September 15. Sarah Peters (Workaholics, Master of None, Nathan For You), who has written on the series since season one and currently serves as consulting producer, will be elevated to executive producer and serve as showrunner for season four. In season three of the biting and uproarious adult animated comedy series, Harley Quinn (Kaley Cuoco) and Poison Ivy (Lake Bell) wrap up their "Eat. Bang! Kill. CBS Brings Back Ghosts and Monday Comedy Duo for 2022-23; Netflix Orders Comedy with Michelle Buteau

CBS announced that it has renewed its hit new Thursday comedy Ghosts and its popular Monday night comedy hour of The Neighborhood and Bob ♥ Abishola. These three CBS comedy series join veteran Thursday comedy series Young Sheldon, which was previously renewed for three additional years, beginning with the 2021-2022 broadcast season. So as of now, CBS is bringing back at least four comedies for the 2022-2023 season. No word yet on Thursday comedies B Positive and United States of Al, while upcoming new sitcom How We Roll premieres on March 31. Stay tuned for further updates as we get closer to the May upfront.

Netflix ordered eight episodes of Survival of the Thickest, a scripted comedy starring Michelle Buteau, based on her acclaimed book of essays. Survival of the Thickest centers on Mavis Beaumont (Buteau). Black, plus-size and newly single, Mavis Beaumont unexpectedly finds herself having to rebuild her life after putting all her eggs in one man's basket, but she's determined to not only survive but thrive with the support of her chosen family, a positive attitude, and a cute v-neck with some lip gloss. The series was created by Buteau and Danielle Sanchez-Witzel and will be executive produced by Ravi Nandan and Alli Reich from A24. Sanchez-Witzel is also the showrunner for the series, following the recent announcement of her overall deal with Netflix that also includes show development.

The series continues Netflix's relationship with Buteau, who also has her own Netflix stand-up special, Michelle Buteau: Welcome to Buteaupia; hosts unscripted competition series The Circle; narrates upcoming docuseries The Principles of Pleasure; is set to host the second season of Barbecue Showdown; and starred in the feature film Always Be My Maybe, as well as the series Tales of the City.
