Bob Hearts Abishola Coming to Syndication This Fall; Off Script With The Hollywood Reporter Returns in May

Bob Hearts Abishola is ending its run on CBS this spring but it will premiere in broadcast syndication this fall for a three-year deal on such station groups as Nexstar Media Group, Sinclair, Hearst Television, Tegna, E.W. Scripps, Weigel Broadcasting, Sunbeam Television, Gray Television, Mission Broadcasting, Lockwood Broadcast Group and Bahakel Broadcasting. It will join other fellow Chuck Lorre sitcoms in broadcast syndication - The Big Bang Theory, Young Sheldon, Mom and Two and a Half Men. The sitcom stars Billy Gardell as Bob, a middle-aged compression sock businessman in Detroit who falls for his cardiac nurse, Abishola (Folake Olowofoyeku), a Nigerian immigrant, while recovering from a heart attack. Undaunted by Abishola’s initial lack of interest or vast differences in their backgrounds, Bob is determined to win her heart, and eventually marries her in this comedic examination of immigrant life in America.

The Hollywood Reporter (THR) announced the return of the Emmy(R)-nominated series, Off Script With The Hollywood Reporter with five new episodes of Emmy contenders, featuring themed episodes including Comedy Actress, Drama Actor, Comedy Actor, Drama Actress and Stand-Up. The new season is set to premiere on Friday, May 24, at a new time of 10 pm PT/1 am ET exclusively on IFC and streaming on AMC+. New episodes will continue on Fridays.

TBS Back to School Marathons; HBO Renews The Righteous Gemstones for Season 4

In some parts of the country, it is actually almost back to school time in a few weeks (weird, right?). TBS will showcase three sitcom marathons. On Saturday, August 12, Bob's Burgers Back to School Marathon on TBS airs from 8:00pm to 10:30pm ET/PT. Then the next day on Sunday, August 13, it is a Friends Back to School Marathon on TBS from 12:00pm to 6:00pm ET/PT and then The Big Bang Theory Back to School Marathon on TBS from 6:00pm to 10:00pm ET/PT.

HBO has renewed the critically acclaimed original comedy series The Righteous Gemstones for a fourth season. Created by Danny McBride, the series concludes its nine-episode third season July 30. The first three seasons are available to stream on Max. The Righteous Gemstones tells the story of a world-famous televangelist family with a long tradition of deviance, greed, and charitable work. HBO's The Righteous Gemstones Renewed for Season 3; To Tell the Truth Returns Feb. 22 on ABC

Cynthia Erivo, Gary Owen and Donald Faison join as celebrity panelists when everyone's favorite guessing game returns Tuesday, Feb. 22 at 10/9c on ABC. It will air for 6 weeks. When it returns on Feb. 22, Cynthia Erivo, Gary Owen and Donald Faison make up the celebrity panel on To Tell the Truth, airing Tuesday, Feb. 22 from 10:00-11:00 p.m. EDT on ABC. And when it returns that night, the panel isn't clowning around! Panelists include a celeb makeup artist, pee app developer, dino poop collector, clown of the year and duck master. Episodes can also be viewed the next day on demand and on Hulu.

HBO Max Announces January Slate; New Campaign for 2022 Includes Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin and The Flight Attendant Season 2

HBO Max has announced its January offerings along with more on what's to come in 2022. In January, join Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, Emma Watson and other esteemed cast members and filmmakers across all eight Harry Potter films, as they travel back to Hogwarts for the first time to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the franchise's first film, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. The retrospective special Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts (1/1) will tell an enchanting making-of story through all-new in-depth interviews and cast conversations, inviting fans on a magical first-person journey through one of the most beloved film franchises of all time. New superhero series Peacemaker (1/13) explores the origins of the character that John Cena first portrayed in James Gunn's 2021 film, The Suicide Squad - a compellingly vainglorious man who believes in peace at any cost, no matter how many people he has to kill to get it.

An incredible collection of original programming arrives this January including the highly anticipated second season of HBO's Euphoria (1/9). Created, written and directed by Sam Levinson, starring Emmy(R) winner Zendaya, and produced in partnership with A24, the drama series follows 17-year-old Rue as she finds hope while balancing the pressures of love, loss, and addiction. Hit competition show I Can See Your Voice returns for Season Two, kicking off with an all-new special holiday-themed episode on Tuesday, Dec. 14 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT), followed by the season premiere on Wednesday, Jan. 5 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT). HBO Gets 2nd Season of McBride and Goodman Comedy; HGTV and Bradys Go Digital

HBO has renewed the comedy series The Righteous Gemstones for a second season. The Righteous Gemstones, starring Danny McBride, John Goodman, Edi Patterson and Adam Devine, kicked off its nine-episode season August 18. Telling the story of a world-famous televangelist family with a long tradition of deviance, greed and charitable work, the series was created by McBride (HBO's Vice Principals and Eastbound & Down), who is an executive producer, director and writer. McBride collaborators Jody Hill and David Gordon Green also serve as executive producers and directors.

Well into the second generation of a grand televangelist tradition, the renowned Gemstone family is living proof that worship pays dividends in all sizes, including their megachurch. Danny McBride stars as Jesse Gemstone, the eldest of three grown Gemstone offspring, who looks to lead in his father's footsteps, but finds his past sins jeopardizing the family ministry. John Goodman, Edi Patterson, Adam Devine, Walton Goggins, Cassidy Freeman, Tony Cavalero, Tim Baltz and Greg Alan Williams also star.

Mindy Kaling Produced Comedy on Hulu; HBO's The Righteous Gemstones Premieres Aug. 18

Hulu released the official trailer and key art for upcoming limited anthology rom-com series Four Weddings and a Funeral from Mindy Kaling. The series stars Zoe Boyle, Nathalie Emmanuel, Guz Khan, Sophia La Porta, Harish Patel, Nikesh Patel, John Reynolds, Rebecca Rittenhouse and Brandon Mychal Smith. Four Weddings and a Funeral premieres the first four episodes Wednesday, July 31 and new episodes weekly only on Hulu. Maya (Nathalie Emmanuel), the young communications director for a New York senatorial campaign, receives a wedding invitation from her college schoolmate now living in London. She leaves her professional and personal life behind, in favor of traveling to England and reconnecting with old friends and ends up in the midst of their personal crises. Relationships are forged and broken, political scandals exposed, London social life lampooned, love affairs ignited and doused, and of course there are four weddings... and a funeral.

Four Weddings and a Funeral pilot script is written by Mindy Kaling and Matt Warburton. The series is executive produced by Mindy Kaling, Tracey Wigfield, Richard Curtis, Matt Warburton, Jonathan Prince, Howard Klein of 3Arts Entertainment, Charlie Grandy, Tristram Shapeero and Charles McDougall (Ep. 1 & 2). An all-new comedy series titled The Righteous Gemstones is coming to HBO this August. TNT Airs Supernatural Halloween Marathon; HBO Orders Televangelist Comedy

SitcomsOnline Digest: John Goodman Lands Role on HBO Televangelist Comedy; More Alice DVDs from Warner Archive

• While we don't exactly know how The Conners (or whatever it will be called) will work out, John Goodman has landed another series on HBO, The Righteous Gemstones, a comedy about a dysfunctional televangelist dynasty. (Consequence of Sound)
• For those who remember that NBC had a sitcom called Champions this past season... and they did... it won't be returning for a second season, though it is possible it may be picked up elsewhere. (Variety)
• During the upfront last month, Fox never said whether Ghosted was renewed or cancelled, but it's probably not a surprise that it was officially cancelled this week. (Deadline)
• Jerry Seinfeld had some things to say about Roseanne this week, and oddly, he says that he has never seen a comedian destroy their career by just saying one thing, which makes us wonder if he was just being sarcastic or if he is forgetting about his own co-star, Michael Richards. (Deadline)
• Season five of BoJack Horseman will debut on September 14 on Netflix. (Pitchfork)
• Jimmy Fallon has been known for trying to stay somewhat politically neutral, but that has changed lately when it comes to Donald Trump, and this week he teamed up with his competition to produce an opening sketch about Trump that aired on both his show and Stephen Colbert's Late Show. (People)

• Warner Archive is moving ahead with Alice, as Alice - The Complete Seventh Season will arrive as a MOD release on July 10.

• New Girl - The Final Season (DVD, $19.98): The final season of the Fox comedy arrives on DVD in this release.

• Believe it or not, Syfy will not be continuing their tradition of airing Twilight Zone on the Fourth of July, but if you have Decades, they will be continuing that tradition on Wednesday.
• Meanwhile, this weekend, the Decades binge is Tarzan.
• The tenth season of Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee debuts Friday on Netflix.
• Adult Swim debuts a new series, Mostly 4 Millennials, on Monday.
• If you're in the Christmas spirit, Hallmark Mysteries and Movies started their Gold Crown Christmas Week yesterday, and although it is called a "week," it will actually continue through July 15.
