SitcomsOnline Digest: Brooklyn Nine-Nine Comes to an End; FXX Goes Full Blown Animation Domination with New Acquisitions
Welcome to SitcomsOnline Digest! Next week is the week we've all been waiting for, the (mostly) beginning of the fall season! But not just that, we've got news of a new home for Fox animated series (a home that has slowly been working toward becoming that), Jeopardy! news, and more. Let's get going!
HIGHLIGHTS FROM SITCOMSONLINE.COM AND AROUND THE WEB
- Brooklyn Nine-Nine came to an end this week, but don't read this unless you're OK with spoilers. (Vulture)
- FXX will have the exclusive cable rights to all seasons of Family Guy and several other animated comedies starting Monday, but with that comes the end of an era, as the series will leave the Adult Swim home that it has had for almost two decades. (Deadline)
- Similarly, another 20 year tradition is about to end at TBS, as Seinfeld leaves to go to Comedy Central (and also Netflix, in an unrelated deal) on October 1. (Deadline)
- It may be a while before we know who'll take over as host of Jeopardy!, but in the meantime, we have two interim hosts. (NPR)
- Hulu's Only Murders in the Building has been renewed for a second season. (SitcomsOnline)
WEEKLY PLANNER (SEPTEMBER 18 - SEPTEMBER 24)
- COZI is celebrating the 50th anniversary of Columbo all day on Saturday.
- CBS Monday night comedies return with new seasons on Monday.
- Meanwhile, over at ABC, new comedies start on Wednesday, including the debut of The Wonder Years remake.
- As previously mentioned, FXX will begin airing every season of Family Guy on Monday, but they'll also be going complete Fox animation lineup by adding King of the Hill and The Cleveland Show to their lineup next week.
- Decades has a little bit of British flavor this weekend, with a binge of The Prisoner.
