Comedy Central Fall 2021: Seinfeld Joins Lineup; Apple TV+ New Comedy Acapulco Premieres Oct. 8

Seinfeld

Comedy Central is the new linear home of Seinfeld in a deal with MTV Entertainment and Sony Pictures Television. Beginning October 1, 2021, the full library of all 180 Seinfeld episodes will leave its long-time home on TBS and start airing on Comedy Central. The festivus-ivities start with the top favorite episodes as voted on by the fans in a countdown stunt on Saturday, October 9 with the series to begin airing on Comedy Central on Monday, October 11. Originally Seinfeld's move was also going to include sister networks Paramount Network and TV Land, but it will now solely air on Comedy Central. Comedy Central has also started airing fellow NBC '90s comedy Friends on Tuesday evenings from 6pm-9pm as of Sept. 7. Comedy Central also airs off-network reruns of The Office, Futurama, The Cleveland Show, South Park and Parks & Recreation. Timeslots for Seinfeld will be revealed soon, so stay tuned.

An Emmy and Golden Globe-winner for Best Comedy Series, Seinfeld stars Jerry Seinfeld as a stand-up comedian whose life in New York City is made even more chaotic by his quirky group of friends who join him in wrestling with life's most perplexing, yet often trivial questions. Co-starring are Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Jerry's ex-girlfriend and current platonic pal, Elaine Benes; Michael Richards as Jerry's eccentric neighbor, Kramer; and Jason Alexander as George Costanza, Jerry's neurotic hard-luck best friend.

Acapulco - Eugenio Derbez

Acapulco, the highly anticipated 10-episode Apple Original comedy series starring Eugenio Derbez, who also executive produces, is set to premiere globally on Friday, October 8, 2021 on Apple TV+. Acapulco tells the story of twenty-something Máximo Gallardo (Enrique Arrizon), whose dream comes true when he gets the job of a lifetime as a cabana boy at the hottest resort in Acapulco. He soon realizes the job is far more complicated than he ever imagined and in order to succeed, he must learn to navigate a demanding clientele, a mercurial mentor, and a complicated home life, without losing his way to shortcuts or temptations. The series, which is told in both Spanish and English, takes place in 1984, with Derbez narrating and playing the present-day version of the main character, Máximo Gallardo.

The ensemble cast starring alongside Derbez includes Enrique Arrizon, Fernando Carsa, Damián Alcázar, Camila Perez, Chord Overstreet, Vanessa Bauche, Regina Reynoso, Raphael Alejandro, Jessica Collins, Rafael Cebrián, Regina Orozco, and Carlos Corona.
