TV Land Changes This Weekend's Schedule; CBS 'Mother' Karaoke Contest
CBS Television Stations announced the launch of a cross-country karaoke contest tied to the hit CBS comedy How I Met Your Mother. Throughout September, the station group is sponsoring karaoke contests at venues in nine major markets across the U.S., with each local winner being flown to Los Angeles for a final match-up. The winner of that contest will receive a walk-on role on the hit CBS comedy. Each market event will include local sponsorship. his promotion is the perfect marriage between a young, popular sitcom and an interactive experience that has become extremely popular with this audience, said Julio Marenghi, President, Sales, CBS Television Stations. We think this cross-country karaoke contest is a great way to promote How I Met Your Mother while inviting its fans to be a part of the show, and it also presents a great opportunity for local sponsors seeking new and exciting ways to reach viewers. We look forward to doing more events like this in the future. The contest will be promoted in each market with on-air promos and on each participating stations website. Twenty contestants in each market will be chosen at random, and a panel of celebrity judges will determine which lucky winner goes to the next level the final match-up in Los Angeles with the winners from all the other markets. Cast members from the series will then help choose the winner. Viewers can also go online to each participating stations website to see the local winners performances and choose their favorite.
