Disney Channel Orders Pilot Produced by Marsai Martin; HBO Max Revives Tattletales

Disney Channel has given a pilot order to Saturdays, a single-camera comedy from 16-year-old Marsai Martin (ABC's black-ish, Little) and Nicole Dow through Martin's production company, Genius Entertainment, and executive producer Norman Vance Jr. (Roll Bounce, Girlfriends). The pilot, which centers on a young girl and her competitive roller skating crew, was written by Vance and will be directed by Charles Stone III (Drumline, black-ish). Dow and Marsai, Josh and Carol Martin will also serve as executive producers. Danielle Jalade (Yes Day) has been cast in the lead role of Paris Johnson, a 13-year-old girl who has spent most of her life roller-skating. Omar Gooding (Hangin' with Mr. Cooper, Family Time) and Golden Brooks (Girlfriends) will play Paris' parents, Cal and Deb, and Jermaine Harris (The Map of Tiny Perfect Things) will portray her older brother and aspiring D.J., London. Daria Johns (Nappily Ever After) and newcomer Samantha A. Smith have also been cast as Paris' best friends and skating partners, Simone and Roxy, respectively. Additionally, Grammy-nominated hip-hop artist Yolanda "Yo-Yo" Whitaker will appear in a recurring role as roller rink owner Duchess.

HBO Max has given a first season order to Fremantle's hit comedy game show Tattletales, bringing together celebrity couples to reveal hilarious insights about their relationships through fun challenges and games. Hosted and executive produced by 2x New York Times best-selling author, entrepreneur, restaurateur, chef and founder of Sweet July Productions Ayesha Curry and her husband, seven-time NBA All-Star and co-founder of Unanimous Media Stephen Curry, with production partners Fremantle and Sweet July Productions. Tattletales invites three celebrity couples to join Ayesha and Stephen on an exclusive date night to go head-to-head on uncensored relationship trivia and games, competing to see who knows their partner best. All’s fair in love and war, and as personality quirks and hidden talents are revealed, teams are pushed to their limits with physical challenges. Questions from viewers on the interactive fan question board put couples’ relationships to the test as they compete for a donation to the charity of their choice.
The original version aired in the '70s and '80s and hosted by Bert Convy. It airs on BUZZR in reruns. Watch an episode from 1977 here with celebs John Ritter, Bill Macy, and Bobby Troup:
