SitcomsOnline Digest: Fox Gets Thursday Night Football; CBS Preps for Celebrity Big Brother
HIGHLIGHTS FROM SITCOMSONLINE.COM AND AROUND THE WEB
- This coming fall will be a lot less disruptive for the CBS and NBC Thursday night lineups, and maybe a lot more so for Fox, as Fox will be the home for Thursday Night Football for the next five seasons. (Variety)
- Celebrity Big Brother arrives on the CBS lineup on Wednesday, and perhaps not surprisingly, Omarosa has gone straight from reality show to the White House and back to another reality show. (Entertainment Weekly)
- Meanwhile, going from Omarosa to the actress who plays her on Saturday Night Live, Leslie Jones will be a contributor for NBC's coverage of the Winter Olympics. (Fortune)
- Scott Baio is in the news this week, and it's not for a positive reason, as Charles in Charge actress Nicole Eggert says that he sexually abused her when she was underage. (Time)
- We know that a lot of reboots of classic series are in the works, and now we're learning that diversity will play a strong role in these series. (Deadline)
- CBS and Viacom are considering a merger. Yes, again. (CNN)
- Roseanne returns to ABC in March, but there will be a 20/20 special about the series before then. (SitcomsOnline)
HOME MEDIA RELEASES (FEBRUARY 6)
- Bosom Buddies - The Complete Series (DVD, $29.98): Both seasons of this classic sitcom arrive in one set on this release.
WEEKLY PLANNER (FEBRUARY 3 - FEBRUARY 9)
- Everybody knows that the Super Bowl is on Sunday night, but of course if animals are your thing, Animal Planet has their Puppy Bowl (which has become sort of a ratings hit for the network), while Hallmark has their lesser known Kitten Bowl.
- Sweeps month usually means new episodes of everything, but the Winter Olympics have changed that this year, so you'll want to get all of your new sitcom episodes in Monday and Tuesday night, when CBS and ABC, respectively, get their new episodes in before taking a little break.
- Speaking of the Winter Olympics, they will begin Thursday night on NBC, with opening ceremonies on Friday.
- "Next time you're at the checkout and you hear the beep, think of the fun you could be having on Supermarket Sweep." And now, you can watch episodes of the 2000 season (from PAX TV) on Amazon Prime, along with numerous other game shows that Amazon Prime has been adding from Buzzr over the past few months.
- Mannix is this weekend's binge on Decades.
