TCA Summer 2017 Press Tour: Cable Day 1 - Comedy Central and Nat Geo

Comedy Central

It's that time again -- the TCA Press Tour! This time it's the summer edition and cable is up first for the new few days through the end of the week. Comedy Central had a slew of announcements. The Daily Show with Trevor Noah is taking the show on the road to Chicago for a special week of shows called, "The Daily Show Undesked Chicago 2017: Let's Do This Before It Gets Too Damn Cold." The late night series will telecast from the Athenaeum Theatre from Monday, October 16 through Thursday, October 19 nightly at 11:00 p.m. ET/PT on Comedy Central. Comedy Central's new late-night talk series helmed by Jordan Klepper will be titled The Opposition with Jordan Klepper and premiere September 25 at 11:30 p.m. ET/PT following The Daily Show with Trevor Noah. Comedy Central has extended the first season of the new late night series The Jim Jefferies Show and ordered 10 additional episodes. The series, which features the Australian comedian's unapologetic, honest and international approach to culture and politics, is currently in the midst of its initial run, which will see original episodes through August 15. After a brief hiatus, new episodes from this extension will begin on Tuesday, September 19 at 10:30 p.m. ET/PT, following the fall season premiere of Tosh.0.

Oh Boy Oh Boy! Comedy Central has extended The President Show for an additional seven episodes for a total of 22 episodes. Created by Anthony Atamanuik who hosts as Donald J. Trump, and produced by Clone Wolf Productions and 3 Arts Entertainment, this weekly, topical late night series currently airs on Thursdays at 11:30 p.m. ET/PT. Beginning Thursday, September 28, The President Show will premiere at midnight, following new late night series The Opposition with Jordan Klepper. Sketch comedy quartet Goatface will bring their wide-ranging brand of humor to Comedy Central for a one-hour special, but more details will be announced later. And finally, he hit Comedy Central series Broad City returns with ten all-new episodes beginning Wednesday, September 13 at 10:30 p.m. ET/PT following a new season of South Park. The fourth season finds Abbi and Ilana experiencing NYC in a whole new way: in the dead of winter. In the new season, Abbi and Ilana get new jobs, celebrate their friendiversary, receive a visit from Abbi's mom, trip on mushrooms, discover their witchdom and travel to Florida (watch: season four trailer).

National Geographic Channel

National Geographic, Martha Raddatz, and Lincoln Square Productions announced the greenlight for a companion documentary special to the network's upcoming drama, The Long Road Home, based on the New York Times best-seller from Raddatz. The Long Road Home scripted series and its companion documentary special will air globally in November 2017 on National Geographic in 440 million homes in 171 countries and in 45 languages. Premiering November 2017, The Long Road Home scripted series offers viewers an intimate window into the experience of war as seen through the eyes and the hearts of the soldiers themselves and the families they leave behind. It is an adrenaline-fueled and heart-filled journey that follows the action of the battle on two simultaneous fronts - the chaotic, terror-filled streets of Sadr City, where a group of inexperienced young soldiers face an unexpected and unimaginable attack with bravery they never knew they had, and the home front at Fort Hood, where family members, desperate for news of their loved ones and fearing the worst, only to discover their own bravery in the process.

The eight episode scripted series stars Michael Kelly (House of Cards) as then Lt. Col. Gary Volesky (now Gen. Volesky), the platoon's commanding officer who was in his first hours of command there as the battle broke out; Jason Ritter (Kevin (Probably) Saves the World) as Capt.Troy Denomy, who bravely leads a rescue convoy after giving the order that put his men in harm's way; E.J. Bonilla (Unforgettable) as stranded platoon leader Shane Aguero; Kate Bosworth (The Art of More) as Gina Denomy, a young wife and new mom battling her own fears while reaching out to the families of the fallen and wounded; Sarah Wayne Callies (Prison Break, Colony) as Family Readiness Group leader and Gary Volesky's wife Lee Ann Volesky; Noel Fisher (Shameless) as a heroic 24-year-old warrior and later peace activist Pfc. Tomas Young; and Jeremy Sisto (Suburgatory) as reluctant hero Staff Sgt. Robert Miltenberger.
