Hulu Gets 3,000 Episodes from 20th Century Fox; Netflix Comedy Atypical Launches Aug. 11
Hulu and 20th Century Fox Television Distribution announced an expansive agreement that will add nearly 3,000 episodes of hit comedies, popular dramas and iconic series to Hulu. In addition to granting streaming rights to every episode of long-running hits including How I Met Your Mother, Burn Notice, Bones and Glee, the deal will also make Hulu the streaming home to all 11 seasons of M*A*S*H and the full NYPD Blue library.
Through the agreement, Hulu's offering will expand over the coming weeks with all episodes of popular series from 20th Century Fox including the following titles and many more:
Hit Comedies: How I Met Your Mother, Raising Hope, The Bernie Mac Show, Better Off Ted, Reba, Life in Pieces
Long-Running Dramas: NYPD Blue, Bones, Glee, Burn Notice, White Collar, The Practice
Iconic Series: M*A*S*H, The Mary Tyler Moore Show, St. Elsewhere, Hill Street Blues, The Bob Newhart Show
Fan Favorites: Don't Trust the B—in Apartment 23, The Grinder, Blue Collar, Saving Grace, Lie To Me, Graceland
Cult Hits: Dollhouse, Wilfred, The Glades
The deal follows the announcement of an expanded agreement between Hulu and 20th Century Fox Television Distribution that adds top animated comedies from the studio to Hulu, including Emmy-winning comedy Bob's Burgers, as well as hit series American Dad!, Futurama, and The Cleveland Show. Through several previous agreements, Hulu is the exclusive subscription streaming video on-demand home of popular 20th Century Fox titles including this year's #1 drama series, This Is Us, as well as hits Fresh Off the Boat, Empire, The Last Man on Earth, Homeland and more.
Sam -- an 18-year-old on the autism spectrum - upends his family when he begins his journey of self-discovery for independence, love and acceptance in the new Netflix comedy series with heart, Atypical. Get a glimpse into the funny, heartfelt and heartbreaking moments of the Gardner family in the official trailer for the new series which launches on Netflix Friday, August 11.
Atypical is a coming of age story from the point-of-view of Sam (played by Keir Gilchrist), an 18-year-old on the autistic spectrum searching for love and independence. While Sam is on his funny and emotional journey of self-discovery, the rest of his family must grapple with change in their own lives while exploring the question: what does it really mean to be "normal"? Jennifer Jason Leigh stars as Sam's mother, Elsa, who is on a life-changing path as her son gains more independence. Michael Rapaport plays Sam's father, Doug, who desires to better connect with and understand his son. Brigette Lundy-Paine plays Sam's scrappy sister, Casey, and Amy Okuda plays his therapist, Julia. 8 episodes have been ordered.
