SitcomsOnline Digest: ATX Television Festival Highlights; Fox Planning Busy Slate of MOD TV on DVD Releases Next Two Weeks

Welcome to SitcomsOnline Digest! We're into our usual summer slump of news, although a week later than usual due to the cancellation of Roseanne giving us plenty of news last week. This week, we're some musings from past TV series from the ATX Television Festival, learning of the renewal of a popular FX series, and more. Let's get going!

HIGHLIGHTS FROM SITCOMSONLINE.COM AND AROUND THE WEB
  • Marcy Carsey, who was a producer for Roseanne and The Cosby Show (both of which have experienced major controversies with their stars recently), had an opportunity to address these issues this week. (Hollywood Reporter)
  • On a more positive note, some former TGIF casts members and producers got together this week to discuss their legacy, as well as how old episodes of their series continue to thrive on Hulu. (LA Times)
  • Trial & Error returns for a second season on July 19, and the executive producer and cast is giving fans a preview of what is in store. (Deadline)
  • We doubt anybody is surprised by this, but FX has renewed Atlanta for a third season. (Hollywood Reporter)
  • Actor Robert Mandan, known for his role of Chester Tate on Soap, has died. (SitcomsOnline)

    • Laff has quietly replaced their nightly airings of Roseanne with Home Improvement, which wasn't supposed to begin airing on the network until September.
    • ABC's summer Sunday night game show lineup kicks off tomorrow night.
    • The second season of Marlon begins Thursday on NBC.
    • The Ranch returns for the first half of season 3 on Netflix on Friday.
    • This weekend's binge on Decades is Here Come the Brides.

    Krapopolis - "Stavros Live and in Concert" (Fox, 9:00PM ET/PT) (Repeat)
    Ty's favorite singer Stavros is in town, but he also happens to be the favorite singer of Athena and her radical followers; Deliria goes on a little getaway.

    The Great North - "Ham to Lose a Guy Adventure" (Fox, 9:30PM ET/PT)
    Judy and Beef interfere with Ham's personal life; Wolf and Honeybee go on a quest to squash a rumor going around town that Wolf eats worms.
