Our First Mini-DVD Review Is....'The Boondocks'!
The Boondocks: The Complete First Season - Uncut and Uncensored (Sony, $49.95) brings one of the most interesting (and controversial) comic strips from the newspaper to the small screen. The Adult Swim hit is available on a three-disc set that contains all 15 unedited (and totally uncensored... even some animated nudity can be found) episodes of the first season. The episodes are presented in 1.78:1 widescreen mode and looks and sounds absolutely amazing on DVD. The set is loaded with special features (a VERY dramatic change from most Sony DVD sets) including two video commentaries (where you can actually watch the commentators while they talk about the episodes; but you can also just listen to the audio of the commentaries too), three crew audio commentaries, two Uncle Ruckus commentaries (where Uncle Ruckus does commentaries, in character), a 21 minute Behind-the-Scenes Featurette featuring series creator Aaron McGruder, 10 minutes of animatics, 4 minutes of deleted scenes, 4 minutes of unaired promos for the series from Adult Swim, and printable storyboards for five episodes that you can view using Adobe Reader on your PC or Mac. -- Reviewed by skees53
