SitcomsOnline Digest: Disney Announces New Streaming Service Including Every Episode of The Simpsons; NCIS Gets Renewal from CBS

• Disney made a big splash this week with their announcement of the Disney Plus streaming service, which will include an astonishing 7,500 episodes of various TV series in their library, including every episodes of the newest Disney series, The Simpsons. (CNET)
• If you're under a certain age, you may be wondering who is actually watching NCIS, but it's enough people for CBS to renew it for a seventeenth season. (Variety)
• The Lori Loughlin and Felicity Huffman cases are still on-going, and while it looks like things are pretty badly for Huffman, it's looking a lot worse for Loughlin. (Vanity Fair)
• Joel McHale will host Card Sharks on ABC. (SitcomsOnline)

• Decades is airing Greatest American Hero all weekend long.
• MeTV will be airing older skits from The Carol Burnett Show that were not included in the Carol Burnett & Friends package, in an edited to half hour form, Sundays at 10:30 PM and weeknights at 11 PM starting on Sunday.
• The new ABC comedy Bless This Mess arrives on Tuesday.
• CBS has a (very late) midseason premiere for Life on Pieces on Thursday night.
• Hulu has a new comedy series offering, Ramy, which debuts Friday.

SitcomsOnline Digest: Which TV Series Isn't Getting a Reboot, Anyway?; CBS Orders Three (Fresh) Comedy Pilots

• We feel like at this point we'd might as well just say "it's official, everything in the history of television is about to be rebooted," as this week, we're hearing about reboots of Murphy Brown, Magnum P.I., Cagney and Lacey, Greatest American Hero, Charmed, and most likely more that we're not even aware of or missed (we'll probably still never see that aborted Coach reboot, however). (Entertainment Weekly)
• If you're not in the mood for reboots, it seems that CBS (which also is the one who seems to be going the heaviest on these reboot pilots, ironically) has some comedy pilots that are fresher ideas in the pipeline as well. (Deadline)
• Even people who aren't soap opera fans are aware of the importance of the characters Luke and Laura on General Hospital, and even though the characters have come and gone over the years as the actors have chosen to pursue other interests, it seems producers are reducing Laura's character to a recurring role, and not by the choice of Genie Francis, the actress who plays that role. (Entertainment Weekly)
• Connie Sawyer, who was recognized as Hollywood's oldest actress and made guest appearances in TV series as far in the past as The Donna Reed Show and Dr. Kildare, as well as series as recent as The Office and New Girl (and plenty in between) and also has been cast in generic roles like "old lady" going as far back as 1975, has died this week at the impressive age of 105. • February 27th (i.e. 2/27) is coming up next month, so what's more appropriate for that date than a marathon of 227?.  (SitcomsOnline)

• All fifteen seasons of the popular NBC medical drama ER are now available to watch on Hulu.
• Speaking of Hulu, if you enjoy Scrubs and don't own the DVDs (and we still strongly recommend and collect DVDs for this very reason, you never know when streaming services will pull the plug), you may want to start binge watching that now, as it is scheduled to leave Hulu on February 7 according to Hulu's official Twitter account (barring any renewals).
• The new NBC sitcom, AP Bio, makes a special preview debut Thursday night.
• You can catch a binge of The Rookies all weekend on Decades.
• Will Ferrell returns to Saturday Night Live tonight as host, along with musical guest Chris Stapleton.
• The Grammy Awards air Sunday on CBS, and they have one slight sitcom connection, as Childish Gambino (known to sitcom fans as Donald Glover of Community and Atlanta fame) has five nominations.

SitcomsOnline Digest: Greatest American Hero Reboot for ABC?; One Day at a Time Complete Series DVD Release On the Way

• We would almost like to have a week where we aren't hearing about another reboot, but it won't be this week, as ABC is looking to reboot Greatest American Hero, with a female lead. (Hollywood Reporter)
• The Carol Burnett Show is turning 50, and CBS is ready to celebrate in December. (Entertainment Weekly)
• Amazon has ordered a trio of comedy pilots, and all of them are from veterans of successful comedies that we've seen in recent years. (Deadline)
• Big Brother has been a staple of the CBS summer lineup for nearly two decades now, and this winter, they're going to do what every reality show eventually does: a celebrity version. (CNN) 
• The Goldbergs (the ABC series, not the Gertrude Berg one of course) is headed to Nick at Nite in a little over a week. (SitcomsOnline) 

• We didn't quite see this one coming, but One Day at a Time is not only being continued on DVD, but we'll see the entire series in one big swoop, with One Day at a Time - The Complete Series, set for a release on December 5 from Shout! Factory.
• Shout! Factory is also releasing Police Woman - Season Three, on December 19.

• The Big Bang Theory - The Complete Tenth Season (DVD, $44.98; Blu-ray, $49.99): It's hard to believe they're already finished with the tenth season, but it arrives on DVD and Blu-ray in this release.
• The Goldbergs - The Complete Third Season (DVD, $26.99); The Goldbergs - The Complete Fourth Season (DVD, $26.99): Just ahead of the fifth season, Sony brings the fourth season (as well as the third season that they somehow failed to release a year ago as they normally would) of the series to DVD in two separate releases.

SitcomsOnline Digest: The Muppets Headed for a Reboot; TBS to Use Unique Strategy to Debut Angie Tribeca

• It looks as if ABC's The Muppets will be undergoing some retooling now that a new showrunner is being put into place. (Vulture)
• The first season of the TBS series Angie Tribeca will debut on January 17, but instead of just airing one episode a week for the first 10 weeks, they'll be dumping them all at once so that fans can binge watch, and it will even be presented commercial free. (Variety)
• George Barris, the creator of the Batmobile from the TV series Batman, has died at age 89. (NPR)
• The much anticipated Twin Peaks revival has had a lot of bumps in the road, and now there is another one, as it has now been pushed to 2017. (CNN)
• Believe it or not, Greatest American Hero may be the next in line for a reboot. (Deadline)
• MeTV has big plans to showcase classic Christmas episodes beginning November 16. (SitcomsOnline)
• Not to be left out, Antenna TV has plans for special marathons and events over the November and December holidays as well. (SitcomsOnline) 

• The Dick Van Dyke Show - The Complete Remastered Series (DVD, $199.98): Sure, the series has been released and re-released many times on DVD, but this time, the remastered versions of the episodes are arriving on DVD (after having already appeared on Blu-ray three years ago) for the first time.
• Maude - The Complete Third Season (DVD, $26.99): For those who skipped out on the complete series, here is another chance to own the third season on DVD.
• WKRP in Cincinnati - The Complete Final (Fourth) Season (DVD, $26.99): The final episodes of the classic sitcom arrive on DVD in this release, with most of the original music intact.

SitcomsOnline Digest: Could Full House or The Greatest American Hero Be Revived as New Series?; Spenser: For Hire Now on DVD

• Every once in a while, it seems that rumors pop up about a Full House revival, but they inevitably turn out to be a hoax. But could the latest ones actually be real? It seems that the original cast is interested. (TV Guide) 
• If Full House doesn't get a revival, there might be hope for the revival of another series at Fox, which actually has a pilot order for a reboot of The Greatest American Hero. (Deadline)
• Pilot season has arrived once again at Amazon, as they have prepared five new pilots for fans to watch and decide which ones should be added to their Prime streaming. (Huffington Post)
• FamilyNet, the network which has known for airing mostly a hodgepodge of lifestyle programming, public domain, and a few classic TV shows, is making a drastic change to their lineup starting Monday, and will be airing classic sitcoms and dramas from the Sony library in almost every timeslot. • Antenna TV has acquired several new series to begin airing next year, many of which haven't been seen in quite some time. (SitcomsOnline)

• Soap - Seasons 1 and 2 (DVD, $14.98): The classic primetime soap opera spoof arrives on DVD again as a value-priced release. Season 1 and Season 2 also available individually.
• New Girl - The Complete Season Three (DVD, $29.98): The "new girl" isn't quite so new anymore as she returns for her third season on DVD.
• What's Happening!! - Seasons 1 and 2 (DVD, $14.98): Raj, Rerun, and Dwayne return to DVD in this value-priced release from Mill Creek. Season 1 and Season 2 also available individually.
