SitcomsOnline Digest: Amazon Gets Streaming Rights to Mad Men; Too Close for Comfort on Pluto TV

  • Amazon has picked up the steaming rights to Mad Men. (Deadline) 
  • Once again, current events are affecting classic TV series, with Hulu removing a Golden Girls episode with a blackface joke that wasn't exactly blackface. (Vulture)
  • Don't worry about Days of Our Lives, the series is set to return to production on September 1. (Deadline) 
  • The first guest hosts for Jimmy Kimmel's vacation have been announced. (TVLine)
  • Hugh Downs, who is known for sitting next to Barbara Walters throughout the 90s on 20/20 (right after TGIF), has died at age 99. (CNN)
  • Carl Reiner died this past week, and there are plenty of tributes to him planned (including one that aired on CBS last night). (SitcomsOnline)
