SitcomsOnline Digest: Person of Interest Final Season; Family Matters Season 6 DVDs Announced

Welcome to SitcomsOnline Digest! It hasn't been an incredibly busy week this week, but we do have news of the end of a CBS series (that wasn't completely unexpected), a preview of the next season of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, and news of new Family Matters DVDs. Let's get going!

HIGHLIGHTS FROM SITCOMSONLINE.COM AND AROUND THE WEB
  • The (shortened) fifth season of Person of Interest has not started on CBS yet, but it will be the final season when it does. (/FILM) 
  • Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt returns to Netflix in just under a month, and a trailer for the new season has been released. (Deadline) 
  • The hotel that inspired the British series Fawlty Towers is set to be demolished. (Guardian)
  • Joe Santos, best known for his role on The Rockford Files, died this week at age 84. (CBS News) 
  • Jodie Sweetin fell out of the spotlight for years, but she has bounced back big time in the past year, beginning with Full House, and now another project is in the works with other former child stars Christine Lakin and Beverley Mitchell. (SitcomsOnline)

  • It looks like Warner Archive is planning to push Family Matters to completion as quickly as possible, as TVShowsOnDVD.com discovered this week that the sixth season will arrive on DVD on April 12.

Who to Follow: Rider Strong (Twitter), "Actor. Now director. Sometimes author. Whatever: I make believe for a living."
Claim to Fame: Rider Strong got his start on television in guest roles on series such as Home Improvement, Evening Shade, Empty Nest, and Nurses, as well as a recurring voice on Bobby's World, but it goes without saying that his best known role is that of Shawn Hunter, which he played on the series Boy Meets World. Since then, he has gotten more involved with the independent film scene (rather successfully, it seems), though he did appear on the short-lived WB series Pepper Dennis, and has made appearances on Girl Meets World.

Sam and Jay try to replace their broken water heater, but Isaac turns the upgrade into a campaign issue in his bid to represent the basement ghosts. Meanwhile, Kyle (Ben Feldman) attempts to make Bela jealous by pretending he’s dating Hetty.

Animal Control - "Bats and Camels" (Fox, 9:00PM ET/PT)
Templeton and Frank compete for the endorsement of a legendary Animal Control officer in an effort to win Animal Control officer of the year; Emily spirals when Shred goes on a date with Daisy's friend.

Going Dutch - "Apache Helicopter Parent" (Fox, 9:30PM ET/PT)
Stroopsdorf hosts its first-ever international peace talks, and when Captain Maggie is assigned the seemingly simple task of handing out cheese, The Colonel turns into a full-blown helicopter parent.
