TBS Picks Up 2nd Season of Ground Floor; Sitcom Stars on Talk Shows (Week of March 10, 2014)
TBS has renewed its new sitcom hit Ground Floor for a second season. Created by Emmy(R) nominees Bill Lawrence (Cougar Town, Scrubs) and Greg Malins (2 Broke Girls, How I Met Your Mother), the series stars Skylar Astin (Pitch Perfect), Briga Heelan (Cougar Town) and John C. McGinley (Scrubs). Lawrence, Jeff Ingold (upcoming Surviving Jack, Undateable) and Jeff Astrof (The New Adventures of Old Christine) serve as executive producers on Ground Floor, which is being produced for TBS by Lawrence's Doozer, in association with Warner Horizon Television. TBS has ordered 10 episodes for the second season, which is slated to begin in late 2014. Ground Floor was one of four TBS series that ranked among basic cable's Top 10 original sitcoms of 2013 with adults 18-49. In its first season, the show averaged 1.8 million viewers in Live + 7 delivery, including 1.1 million adults 18-49 and 575,000 adults 18-34.
Set in the modern world of corporate America, Ground Floor centers on Brody (Astin), a young, hot-shot investment banker who thought he was just having a one-night stand with Jennifer (Heelan), a beautiful woman he met at an office party. He discovers, however, that she works in the maintenance department for the building where his investment bank- Remington Trust - is located. Suddenly their worlds begin to collide in the most unexpected ways. Facing Brody's critical boss, Mr. Mansfield (McGinley), as well as annoyed colleagues, the pair must find a way to deal with their growing feelings for each other in this modern take on Romeo & Juliet.
