FamilyNet Fall 2010 Schedule; RTV Launching in San Francisco, RTV Now in HD in South Florida

Today on the fall cable schedule barrage we are giving you FamilyNet's Fall 2010 schedule. The only thing really of note FamilyNet airs to us are 20th Century classics Lou Grant and Trapper John, M.D. They will be replaced starting Monday, October 4 from 5pm-9pm ET, with the additions of Lost in Space from 5-7pm Mon-Thurs and Big Valley from 7-9pm Mon-Thurs, so yes more 20th TV series. Leading into the dramas will still be back-to-back episodes of Merv Griffin's Crosswords from 3-4pm ET and The New Flipper at 4pm every weekday. FamilyNet Flicks will continue to air weeknights from 9-11pm ET and 12am-2am ET, with another half-hour of Crosswords at 2am.
On weekends, the Saturday mornings kids block will see some changes as Underdog and Bullwinkle are leaving the schedule. Airing are Mustard Pancakes, Dr. Penguin's World, Kid Fitness, The Underwater World, Adv. in Odyssey, Nana Pudd'in, Real Life 101, Aqua Kids, Fun! and Andiamo from 7am-12pm. Yes, I am thinking the same thing you're thinking, what on earth are these shows? Anyway, in primetime on Saturdays now will be a Fox Movie from 9-11pm and 11pm-1am. On Sundays the only thing of note is the Fox R2G Movie from 9-11:30pm and 11:30pm-2am, followed by a block of Black Beauty from 2am-4am.
It is too bad there are no sitcoms on the schedule anymore. Let's hope they add some soon again but Lost in Space and Big Valley are good classic TV options. We just wish they had more series and a sitcom or two at least. Stay tuned tomorrow for another all-new fall 2010 cable schedule!

San Francisco is going Retro in a big way. According to Jeff Chang the soon to be owner of KUNO (these call letters will be changed soon), RTV will launch in the next few weeks with initial coverage that includes both Dish Network and DirectTV for the Bay area. KUNO, licensed to Fort Bragg, is a full power digital that has been dark for some time. Chang and long time California media veteran Reid Davis are bringing the station back to life with a brand new digital signal. RTV will be carried on the primary channel of TV8 as well. TV8's Jeff Chang, said, "We look forward to TV8's debut with RTV's line up of classic programming. I am confident that the network will ensure a successful launch." RTV currently airs on primary stations such as in Boston, Miami (launched last week), Knoxville, Denver and Ft. Smith/Fayetteville.
According to RTV's Neal Ardman, "everyone at RTV is thrilled to partner with great operators like Chang and Reid. These guys are well respected broadcasters that know how to operate tv stations. We know TV8 will become a major force in its DMA just as WMFP has in Boston. TV8 viewers will enjoy great dramas like Magnum P.I., Marcus Welby M.D., and It Takes a Thief and great comedies like Amen, Kate and Allie, McHales Navy and of course the new Saturday Morning TV line up including Fat Albert, The Archies, She-Ra and He-Man.
In other RTV news, on Friday (Aug. 20) RetroTV returned to over 4 million Florida viewers with a new high definition television service. Launching on South Florida's largest independent broadcast group, RTV HD is carried by WHDT Miami in the Miami-Fort Lauderdale market and by WHDT Stuart in the West Palm Beach-Fort Pierce market. Both stations are co-owned by Günter Marksteiner. "WHDT Stuart is America's first high definition television station," says Marksteiner. "Along with our older cousin, former CBS affiliate WHDT Miami, we continue to produce original and innovative HD shows that appeal to all ages. Our coverage of world-class equestrian sports is unrivaled. As the first RTV HD affiliate, WHDT viewers can watch their favorite old TV shows in studio-grade quality direct from the master archives of RTV," says Marksteiner.
RTV's Neal Ardman said, "We are thrilled to both return to West Palm Beach and to be upgrading to a the first HD station in America." Ardman went on to say "now even more Floridians will be able to watch RTV. We couldn't be happier about launching our first HD feed, it is the beginning of a new era for RTV."
