2009 Predictions:
These are my predictions and opinions only for 2009. Some of them probably have zero chance, but I still have them on my wish list. None of these titles have been officially announced.
Returning and New Shows:
According to Jim - I think we'll see season 2. This is the final season (season 8) airing on ABC currently.
All in the Family - It's time for Sony to finish up the remaining seasons already.
Benson - I'm hoping we see Season 2 this year.
Bewitched - Only the 8th season is left to be released.
The Big Bang Theory - Season 2 of this popular CBS sitcom should be released in the fall. Pavan watches it just for Kaley Cuoco.
The Bill Engvall Show - Maybe a Season 2-3 combined release?
Blossom - I think we'll see Season 3 if the Seasons 1-2 set sells well.
Boy Meets World - Now that Lionsgate has acquired the rights, hopefully we'll see the remaining seasons.
Charles in Charge - Hopefully we'll see the remaining seasons soon.
Coach - I think we'll see another season.
Dennis the Menace - I picked it last year. I think it would be ideal for MPI.
Diff'rent Strokes - The wait for season 3 has been agonizing.
A Different World - The Cosby Show is finished, so now it is time for the spin-off series.
8 Simple Rules - I think we'll see Season 2 at some point this year.
Everybody Hates Chris - Another season in the fall.
The Facts of Life - I don't understand what the holdup for Season 4 has been.
Family Ties - I think we'll see Season 6 in the fall.
Frank's Place - It has been mentioned as a possibility for a DVD release, although it would have music changed.
The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air - Where are Seasons 5-6?
Gary Unmarried - If it gets picked up for a second season, a first season DVD release seems likely.
George Lopez - Very popular show on Nick at Nite. Would be nice to see Season 3 on DVD. Whatcha!
Gimme A Break - Hopefully we see another season or two from VEI in Canada.
Happy Days - I think we'll see Season 5 in the fall.
House of Payne - A big hit on TBS.
How I Met Your Mother - Season 4 should be released in the fall.
It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia - A popular sitcom on F/X.
The Jeffersons - It would be nice if Sony released these a bit faster.
Laverne & Shirley - I'd like to see this and Happy Days released at a quicker rate.
Leave it to Beaver - It would be a perfect fit for Shout! Factory if they could get the rights to it to release the remaining seasons.
Love, American Style - I think Season 2 will be released in 2009.
The Lucy Show - I thought we would see the start of it in 2008...so far nothing.
Married with Children - Just the 11th season left to be released.
The Mary Tyler Moore Show - The fans are desperate for the remaining seasons. Hopefully somebody makes it happen.
Mister Peepers - There are quite a few episodes left to be released.
Mork & Mindy - Just one more season to complete the series.
My Boys - A Season 2-3 release would be nice since the seasons are so short.
My Name Is Earl - We should see another season in the fall. I hope NBC finds room for it on their schedule.
The New Adventures of Old Christine - A solid hit for CBS.
The Office - Another season in the fall.
One Day at a Time - It was recently removed from Comcast's TubeTime channel. I'm not sure if that is a good or bad sign.
Perfect Strangers - Hopefully we will see season three this year.
Rules of Engagement - If does well on CBS and gets picked up for a full season, I could see Season 3 being released.
Samantha Who? - Season 2 should be released in the fall.
Scrubs - This is likely the last season on ABC, so the series should be complete on DVD eventually.
Silver Spoons - It was recently removed from Comcast's TubeTime service. The 80's sitcoms have been very slow to release.
The Simpsons - Many seasons to go, but they've been released at a good rate.
Spin City - Hopefully we will get the third season later in the year.
That Girl - Shout! Factory has done a nice job with the releases so far.
30 Rock - A very funny and underrated show should be on DVD again before the fall season.
Two and a Half Men - TV's #1 rated sitcom keeps chugging along.
What's Happening Now!! - Not as popular as What's Happening, but would be nice to have it complete on DVD.
Wings - Only Season 8 is left to be released.
Worst Week - I think Season 1 will be released if it gets picked up for a second season.
The Wonder Years - The first season had only six episodes. It could be given a trial run. Music licensing rights are a major issue, but hopefully a company like Shout! Factory could work on this set. Has been the #1 most requested unreleased show at TVShowsonDVD.com for quite awhile by a wide margin.
What do you predict we'll see on DVD in 2009? What shows do you still have hope to see released? Post your comments on our message board.
