The Paper Season 2 Premieres September 9; President Curtis Trailer and Premiere Date

The second season of the Peacock original comedy series The Paper will premiere on Wednesday, September 9 with all episodes. The Paper is produced by Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group. Greg Daniels and Michael Koman serve as co-creators and executive producers. Ricky Gervais, Stephen Merchant, Howard Klein, Ben Silverman, and Banijay Americas (formerly Reveille) also executive produce.

The series stars Domhnall Gleeson, Sabrina Impacciatore, Chelsea Frei, Melvin Gregg, Gbemisola Ikumelo, Tim Key, Ramona Young, Eric Rahill, Duane Shepard Sr., Alex Edelman, and Oscar Nuñez.

In season two, after sweeping the Ohio Journalism Awards, Ned searches for a journalistic crusade, coming for a local private club and jeopardizing the paper, while he and Mare try to figure out their attraction, Esmeralda struggles to find her place, and the staff gradually mature as reporters. The documentary crew that immortalized Dunder Mifflin's Scranton branch in the Emmy Award-winning series The Office find a new subject when they discover a historic Midwestern newspaper and the publisher trying to revive it.

Headlined by Emmy(R) Award-winning actor Keith David, President Curtis will debut July 26 at 11:30pm ET/PT on Adult Swim, immediately following the Rick and Morty season finale. Episodes will be available to stream the next day on HBO Max. The announcement was made during the President Curtis world premiere screening at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival by co-creators and Rick and Morty Executive Producers Dan Harmon and James Siciliano.

Set in the Rick and Morty universe, President Curtis stars David alongside Stephanie Beatriz (Brooklyn Nine-Nine) and Jim Rash (Community). The series follows President Andre Curtis (David) and his eccentric staff as they tackle the kinds of crises that Rick Sanchez could never be bothered with - from interdimensional diplomacy to paranormal investigations and unexplained phenomena. Adult Swim also debuted the official trailer for the series.

But in fact, his heart's desire is not in society at all - she is a resourceful maid called Sophie Baek (Yerin Ha), working for the formidable Lady of the house, Araminta Gun (Katie Leung). When fate brings Benedict and Sophie back together, Benedict wrestles between the reality of his affection for this intriguing maid and the fantasy of the Lady in Silver - unaware that they are the same person. Will Benedict's inability to see these women as one in the same derail the undeniable spark between him and Sophie? And can love truly conquer anything - even a cross-class connection forbidden by society? NBC has pulled The Paper from Mondays. Instead the final three episodes of The Paper will air on Saturday, January 3 from 8pm-9:30pm followed by a repeat of St. Denis Medical at 9:30pm. Repeats of Stumble will now air on Mondays, January 5 through February 2 at 8:30pm instead of The Paper. After the Winter Olympic Games on February 23, new comedy The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins will take over the timeslot.

In other scheduling news, a repeat of Stumble will air at 7pm on Sunday, January 11 before an NFL Wild Card Game, while on Sunday, January 25 NBC has scheduled an original Dateline NBC from 7-9pm and repeats of Law & Order and Law & Order: SVU from 9-11pm opposite the NFL NFC Championship Game on Fox.

• We mentioned a while back that it might happen, and now it is confirmed that The Paper will get a linear broadcast run on NBC. (Hollywood Reporter)
• We've learned who the first few hosts of Saturday Night Live will be in the new season. (Variety)
• South Park, which took a two year break before returning and airing on an every other week schedule, skipped a new episode this past week because they missed the production deadline. (Variety)
• A revival of The Muppet Show (just a one time special for now) is headed to Disney+. (Variety)
• It was on September 17, 2001 that Bill Maher made comments on his ABC talk show Politically Incorrect that led to the end of his career at ABC, and he is reflecting on that as ABC suspended Jimmy Kimmel Live exactly 24 years later for similar reasons. (Deadline)
• A launch date has been announced for WEST, the new digital TV network focused on classic TV westerns. (Deadline)
• Please Don't Eat the Daisies star Pat Crowley has died at age 91. (People)

• The new fall season starts to kick into full gear as fall actually begins on Monday, with many season premieres, but most of them are game shows (The Price is Right, Let's Make a Deal, Celebrity Wheel of Fortune, and The Floor, among others).

NBC Schedules The Paper and Stumble in November; Remembering Patricia (Pat) Crowley of Please Don't Eat the Daisies

NBC is solidifying its November comedy lineup with the addition of the new series Stumble, which will debut Friday, November 7 at 8:30 p.m. ET/PT, as well as the critically acclaimed Peacock original The Paper, set to premiere Monday, November 10 at 8:30 p.m. ET/PT. The addition of both shows gives NBC a powerhouse comedy slate that already includes the hit sophomore series St. Denis Medical and Happy's Place, starring Reba McEntire.

November will now feature back-to-back comedies on Mondays as the second season of St. Denis Medical (which launches November 3) will lead off the night at 8 p.m., followed by The Paper at 8:30 p.m. The NBC Monday lineup also includes The Voice at 9 p.m. and Brilliant Minds at 10 p.m. Friday's lineup will feature second-year hit series Happy's Place at 8 p.m. followed by Stumble, with both shows premiering November 7.

Actress Patricia (Pat) Crowley, who starred as Joan Nash in Please Don't Eat the Daisies, has died. She died of natural causes in Los Angeles on September 14. Ms. Crowley was 91.

Crowley's first sitcom starring role was as Judy Foster in the 1951-1952 ABC Saturday morning version of A Date with Judy. The series follows the trials of a hyperactive bobby-soxer and her harassed parents, Melvin and Dora. Her boyfriend is Oogie Pringle. A primetime version with a mostly different cast ran on ABC from 1952 to 1953. The daytime version also starred Jimmy Sommer, Gene O'Donnell, Anna Lee, and Judson Rees.

She starred as Joan Nash in the 1965-1967 NBC sitcom Please Don't Eat the Daisies. Jim (Mark Miller) and Joan Nash are a married couple who live in an old, turreted house in Ridgemont, New York, with their four rambunctious sons (Kyle, Joel, and identical twins Trevor and Tracy), a very tolerant live-in maid, and an enormous Old English sheepdog named Ladadog. The series ran for two seasons and 58 episodes. The cast included Kim Tyler, Brian Nash, Joe Fithian, Jeff Fithian, Shirley Mitchell, Harry Hickox (1965-1966), King Donovan (1966-1967), Dub Taylor (1965-1966), Ellen Corby, Bill Quinn (1966-1967) and Jean VanderPyl (1966-1967).

Crowley appeared with fellow TV moms Barbara Billingsley (Leave it to Beaver), June Lockhart (Lassie), Isabel Sanford (The Jeffersons) and Alley Mills (The Wonder Years) in a 1995 episode of Roseanne. Some of her other sitcom guest appearances included The Tab Hunter Show (1960), Love, American Style (1969), Happy Days, The Love Boat (3 episodes), Empty Nest, Frasier, Thunder Alley, Friends, and Love Boat: The Next Wave.

She starred as Georgia Cameron, Joe Forrester's (Lloyd Bridges) girlfriend, in the 1975-1976 NBC police drama Joe Forrester. She had a recurring role as Emily Fallmont in 9 episodes of the ABC primetime soap opera Dynasty in 1986. In 1989, she had a recurring role as Rebecca Whitmore #1 in the NBC soap opera Generations. She had a recurring role as Mary Scanlon in 251 episodes of the ABC soap opera Port Charles from 1997 to 2001.

Some of her other television guest appearances in the 1950s and 1960s included Armstrong Circle Theatre (4 episodes), Goodyear Television Playhouse (2 episodes), The United States Steel Hour (2 episodes), Lux Video Theatre (2 episodes), General Electric Theater (2 episodes), The Loretta Young (3 episodes), Schlitz Playhouse of Stars (3 episodes), The Untouchables, Maverick (3 episodes), Goodyear Theatre (2 episodes), 77 Sunset Strip (2 episodes), Rawhide, Bonanza, The Twilight Zone, Dr. Kildare (2 episodes), and The Man from U.N.C.L.E. (1964).

Crowley's 1970s to 1990s television guest appearances included Marcus Welby, M.D. (1971), Columbo, Police Story (4 episodes), The Streets of San Francisco, Family, Fantasy Island (2 episodes), The Rockford Files, Charlie's Angels (2 episodes), Hawaii Five-O (1980), Matt Houston, Falcon Crest (2 episodes), Hotel, Finder of Lost Loves (1985), Murder, She Wrote (1987), Melrose Place, Beverly Hills, 90210 (3 episodes), and Charmed (1999). Her guest appearances in the 2000s included Family Law, The Closer, and Cold Case.

She played Clara Mootz/Sally Carver in the 1953 film Forever Female and Dr. Autumn Claypool in Money from Home (1954). She was awarded the Golden Globe for Most Promising Newcomer - Female for her performances in the films. She starred as Terry Roberts in Hollywood or Bust (1956), which was the last film Jerry Lewis and Dean Martin appeared in together.

Ms. Crowley was a talented and versatile actress. She was funny and lovely as Joan Nash in Please Don't Eat the Daisies. The series should be available on DVD or streaming. It hasn't aired in syndication for many years. We thank her for the laughs and entertainment that she brought us during her 60-year career. She will be deeply missed.

We also remember Emmy-winnning writer and producer John Masius. He created the 1990 NBC sitcom Ferris Bueller. He died from complications of ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) at his home in Los Angeles on September 13. Mr. Masius was 75.

Masius was one of the creators and producers of the 1988-1989 NBC comedy-drama Tattingers, which was briefly revived in the spring of 1989 as the half-hour sitcom Nick & Hillary. He developed and produced the short-lived 1990 NBC sitcom Ferris Bueller. He wrote three episodes of the 1991-1992 CBS sitcom Brooklyn Bridge. He received The Humanitas Prize for his work on the series. He was a creative consultant and wrote an episode of the 1995-1997 NBC sitcom The Single Guy.

He won two writing Emmy Awards for the NBC medical drama St. Elsewhere in 1984 and 1986. Some of his other writing credits included The White Shadow (3 episodes), Dolphin Cove (4 episodes), L.A. Law (4 episodes), The Visitor, and Dead Like Me.

Masius was credited with creating the 1994-2003 CBS drama Touched by an Angel, the 1999-2002 NBC medical Providence, and the 2009-2011 TNT medical drama Hawthorne.

Some of his other producing credits included The White Shadow, St. Elsewhere, Dolphin Cove, L.A. Law, The Visitor, Dead Like Me, and Hawthorne.

Mr. Masius received 14 total Emmy nominations for his work on St. Elsewhere. He earned a number of Writers Guild Awards, Humanitas Prizes, a Peabody Award and a People’s Choice Award. We thank him for his work on television. He will be greatly missed.

Singer and songwriter Bobby Hart was part of the duo Boyce and Hart. They were well known for their songwriting for the Monkees. He died in Los Angeles on September 10. Mr. Hart was 86.

In late 1965, Tommy Boyce and Hart wrote, produced and performed the soundtrack of the pilot for The Monkees, including singing lead vocals (which were later replaced, once the show was cast). The Monkees themselves re-recorded their vocals over Boyce and Hart's when it came time to release the songs, including both "(Theme from) The Monkees" and "Last Train to Clarksville", the latter being a huge hit.

Boyce and Hart performed "Girl, I'm Out To Get You" in the 1967 I Dream of Jeannie episode titled "Jeannie the Hip Hippie." They performed "I'll Blow You a Kiss in the Wind" in the 1970 Bewitched episode titled "Serena Stops the Show." In 1970, they guest starred in The Flying Nun episode titled "When Generations Gap".

They wrote hits for Jay and the Americans ("Come a Little Bit Closer"), Paul Revere & the Raiders ("(I'm Not Your) Steppin' Stone"), and the Leaves ("Words"). The duo also wrote the theme song of the NBC daytime soap opera Days of Our Lives.

Boyce and Hart wrote more than 300 songs, and sold more than 42 million records as a partnership. We thank them for the music. Mr. Hart will be sorely missed.

The Paper Renewed for Season 2, NYC Event on Tuesday; Final Season of Bel-Air

Peacock has ordered a second season of new comedy series The Paper. The series premiered on Peacock last Thursday, Sept. 4. In the tradition of The Office, which is one of the most binged series of all time, The Paper dropped all 10 episodes at once so fans can enjoy the entirety of the show at their convenience.

The documentary crew that immortalized Dunder Mifflin's Scranton branch in the Emmy Award-winning series The Office find a new subject when they discover a historic Midwestern newspaper and the publisher trying to revive it. Starring Domhnall Gleeson, Sabrina Impacciatore, Chelsea Frei, Melvin Gregg, Gbemisola Ikumelo, Alex Edelman, Ramona Young, Tim Key, and Oscar Nuñez.

Peacock is turning the streets of New York into a love letter to local newspapers in celebration of The Paper. On Tuesday, September 9, the plaza at Rockefeller Center and Flatiron Plaza will transform into immersive, pop-up newsstands inspired by The Toledo Truth Teller, the fictional Midwestern paper at the heart of the series. Guests are invited to embrace the magic of newspapers with a towering "Tower of Truth" installation, a special appearance from star Oscar Nuñez (Oscar Martinez), and complimentary PopUp Bagels to enjoy as they take a bite out of the morning news (please note bagels are first come, first served).

The fourth and final season of the hit Peacock series Bel-Air will premiere on Monday, November 24.

In season four of Peacock's Bel-Air, Will tries to balance the fun and excitement of senior year with the expectations that have brought him to this moment. Carlton tests his own resolve as he deals with the fallout of some very big decisions that could threaten his future. Together, both boys will help each other through this pivotal time in their lives. An unexpected power shift will threaten the brotherhood between Phil and Geoffrey, whose loyalties to the Banks family will be tested. Viv struggles with reinventing herself as she looks at motherhood from a different perspective. It’s Ashley’s freshman year in high school and she’s working through a rebellious phase but quickly learns that the status quo may no longer serve her. Hilary goes on a journey of self-exploration.

Wizards Beyond Waverly Place Season 2 Premieres September 12; The Paper Trailer for Peacock

Season 2 of Wizards Beyond Waverly Place, the continuation of the Emmy® Award-winning Wizards of Waverly Place, premieres with two episodes Friday, September 12, on Disney Channel (7:00 p.m. EDT/PDT) and Disney Channel On Demand. All episodes will be available on Disney+ in the U.S. and select international markets on Wednesday, October 8.

Joining Selena Gomez (Alex Russo) in guest roles for the second season include ZOMBIES 4: Dawn of the Vampires star Freya Skye (Piper), Harvey Guillén (Gossip Stone), Kirsten Vangsness (Bigelow McFigglehorn), Recker Eans (Quentin), Tobias Jelinek (Lord Morsus), Patrick Bristow (Wiz M.D.) and Eleanor Sweeney (Bella Bianchi). This season will deliver a dose of nostalgia with the return of iconic characters from Wizards of Waverly Place, including Mr. Laritate (Bill Chott) and Mantooth (Sean Whalen). Amanda Tepe, known for her many memorable roles throughout the original series, also makes a special appearance in the Christmas-themed episode.

In Season 2 of Wizards Beyond Waverly Place, Billie grapples with the fact that being part of the Russo family might be more complicated than she thought—especially now that she's not the only wizard in the house. Thanks to Roman and Milo’s new magical powers, Justin is now tasked with training three young wizards for the Family Wizard Competition. As the stakes rise inside and outside the family, a mysterious new threat emerges, one that could unravel the Russos forever. The series stars David Henrie (as Justin Russo), Janice LeAnn Brown (as Billie), Alkaio Thiele (as Roman Russo), Max Matenko (as Milo Russo), Taylor Cora (as Winter) and Mimi Gianopulos (as Giada Russo).

Peacock has released the trailer, key art and images for the The Office spin-off series. The Paper premieres on Peacock with four episodes on September 4, followed by two new episodes every Thursday through September 25. The Office Spinoff The Paper Premieres September 4; Upload Season 4 Returns August 25

Finally some good news. The Paper arrives September 4 on Peacock. The documentary crew that immortalized Dunder Mifflin's Scranton branch in the Emmy Award-winning series The Office find a new subject when they discover a historic Midwestern newspaper and the publisher trying to revive it. The Paper premieres with four episodes on September 4, followed by two new episodes every Thursday through September 25.

Greg Daniels (The Office) produces under his banner Deedle-Dee Productions, and Michael Koman (Nathan for You). Executive Producers: Ricky Gervais, Stephen Merchant, Howard Klein, Ben Silverman and Banijay Americas (formerly Reveille).

Prime Video announced that Season Four of the sci-fi comedy series Upload will premiere on Monday, August 25 on Prime Video. First-look official images out now. The fourth season will consist of four episodes premiering exclusively on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories around the world. Upload is a sci-fi comedy series from Emmy-winning writer Greg Daniels (The Office, Parks and Recreation, King of the Hill), set in a technologically advanced future where holographic phones, self-driving vehicles, AI assistance, and 3D food printers are the norm. And, forget about dying - instead, you'll be "uploaded" to a virtual reality afterlife, and enjoy all the comforts of a world-class resort. Provided you can afford it.

In the four-part series finale event, sentient AI rapidly turns evil, threatening to wipe out Lakeview (and the world!). On top of greedy executives, lingering mysteries, plus heartbreak in VR and IRL, our characters are tested like never before. The only way they can get through it all and save humanity from deletion is by teaming up one last time. The series was created by Greg Daniels, who also serves as executive producer along with Howard Klein and Maxwell Vivian.
