MeTV Network Presents I Dream of Jeannie on Sunday in Tribute to Larry Hagman; Sitcom Stars on Talk Shows (Week of December 3, 2012)
As we still remember the passing of Larry Hagman, we have some more tribute marathon news. The MeTV Network will air four episodes of I Dream of Jeannie this Sunday (Dec. 2) from 6:00-8:00pm ET/PT as part of a tribute to the late actor Larry Hagman, who portrayed the role of Major Anthony Nelson on the hit sitcom that also starred Barbara Eden. The episodes that will air are: "The Lady in the Bottle," "Watch the Birdie," "My Turned on Master" and "The Strongest Man in the World." As we already mentioned, MeToo in Chicago will have an I Dream of Jeannie marathon tomorrow (Saturday, December 1) from 12pm-4pm CT. And earlier this week, MeTV Network aired his guest appearances on The Rockford Files and Night Gallery.
I Dream of Jeannie was last seen nationally on the cable networks WGN America and TV Land. This will be the first time it will air on a national digital broadcast station. Will the sitcom be joining MeTV? We'll let you know, but we can tell you it will be back on TV in late 2013! Stay tuned for continued updates!

ABC Picks Up More Episodes of Last Man Standing, Malibu Country; FX Schedules Season 2 of Anger Management for January 17, 2013
ABC has picked up five additional episodes each of Friday night comedies Last Man Standing and Malibu Country, giving each series 18 total episodes each for this season. These pick-ups join previously announced orders for new drama Nashville, new comedy The Neighbors, and sophomore drama Scandal. Both comedies Last Man Standing and Malibu Country air Friday nights at 8:00 and 8:30pm ET/PT, respectively, on ABC. Since its season premiere on Nov. 2, ABC sophomore comedy Last Man Standing starring Tim Allen is the top-rated show in Friday's 8:00pm half-hour with Adults 18-49 (2.1/7). Boosting its time period year to year by 76% in Total Viewers and by 91% in Adults 18-49 on average, Last Man Standing premiered with ABC’s biggest numbers in the Friday 8pm half-hour in well over 2-1/2 years – since 1/1/10.
Retaining 100% Adult 18-49 lead-in (2.1/7) from Last Man Standing and gaining total viewers, ABC's Malibu Country starring Reba stands as TV's most-watched freshman comedy this season (8.7 million). The new ABC sitcom is No. 1 in the time period across all key Women demographics (W18-34/W18-49/W25-54) and is the broadcast leader with Teens 12-17. Like its lead-in, the sitcom is producing big year-over-year increases for ABC, improving its half-hour by 85% in Total Viewers and by 91% in Adults 18-49 from the same nights last year. Among Adults 18-49, Malibu Country opened as Friday's top-rated scripted series debut on any network in over 5 years -- since October 2007.
The comedies premiered late in the fall so a full season is probably not necessary to order, but 18 episodes should be enough to last them the rest of the season. ABC will air seven episodes each through December, so at least 11 episodes will be able to air from Jan-May. ABC has yet to announce its midseason 2013 schedule, so we will give that to you as soon as it is announced. With the additional episodes for Malibu Country, we now know the fate for all of ABC's fall freshman series as 666 Park Avenue and Last Resort are the only ones not moving forward after the initial 13 episodes.
FX has announced its early 2013 release dates, which includes season two of Charlie Sheen's sitcom Anger Management. First up, the Emmy(R) Award-winning Justified returns for its fourth season on January 8, and will continue to run Tuesdays at 10pm ET/PT. Anger Management will begin its back-90 run on Thursday, January 17 with consecutive episodes at 9:00 & 9:30pm before airing in its regularly scheduled timeslot of Thursdays at 9:30pm ET/PT. Charlie Sheen stars as "Charlie," a non-traditional therapist specializing in anger management. FX's acclaimed animated series Archer returns for its fourth season starting January 17 and will air Thursdays at 10pm ET/PT. Archer is an animated, half-hour comedy that revolves around the International Secret Intelligence Service (ISIS) and the lives of its employees. FX will premiere its newest original comedy series Legit, on January 17 at 10:30pm ET/PT immediately following Archer. In Legit, Jim Jefferies is an edgy, foul-mouthed stand-up comedian from Australia, in his mid-30s and living in LA, struggling to make his life and career more "legit," only to find it a difficult, uncomfortable uphill struggle every step of the way. Jim is encouraged in his quest by Steve (Dan Bakkedahl), his neurotic best friend and roommate, a cyber-law library salesman who struggles to stay on his feet in the wake of a divorce, and Steve's brother, Billy (DJ Qualls), who suffers from advanced staged Muscular Dystrophy and is confined to a wheelchair. FX has ordered 13 episodes of Legit.
In late night, Totally Biased with W. Kamau Bell will return with a new cycle of episodes Thursday, January 17 at 11pm ET/PT. Totally Biased, from Bell and Executive Producers Chris Rock, Chuck Sklar and Keri Smith Esguia, stars standup comedian W. Kamau Bell as he hilariously dissects politics, pop culture, race, religion, sex and the media from his own unique point of view. The show features live guests and taped segments.

Cloo's Countdown to Christmas Marathon Includes Classic TV; Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel Sign On For Girl Meets World Pilot
Cloo is getting into the holiday mode with a Christmas episode marathon set for Sunday, Dec. 23 that they are calling the Cloo Countdown to Christmas Marathon. It will be a mix of classic sitcoms and dramas, along with newer dramas. This marathon features special Christmas themed episodes from Laverne & Shirley, Family Ties, The Odd Couple, Taxi, Happy Days, MacGyver, Mork & Mindy, Monk, Psych, The Dead Zone & House. Kicking it off will be two Christmas episodes of Taxi from 6am-7am, leading into the Christmas episode for The Odd Couple at 7am. Three Family Ties Christmas episodes will follow from 7:30am-9am. Three continues to be the magic number as three Christmas episodes of Laverne & Shirley will follow from 9am-10:30am. Next, Happy Days doubles the three count with six Christmas episodes airings from 10:30am-1:30pm. Spin-off series Mork & Mindy starring Robin Williams will follow with its only Christmas episode at 1:30pm. Classic drama MacGyver will end the classic TV portion of the marathon with a Christmas episode at 2pm.
Then the rest of the time will feature more newer dramas with Monk airing from 3-6pm with three Christmas episodes. Holiday episodes of House, Psych, and The Dead Zone round out the rest of the schedule from 6pm-6am.
Elsewhere on Cloo, Christmas Eve through Dec. 26, they will present the "3 Wise Guys" marathons that will feature episodes from Psych, Burn Notice, & House. Each series will air for 24 straight hours. And then it's the ladies' turn with the "3 Wise Gals" marathons that feature episodes from In Plain Sight, Charlie's Angels & Fairly Legal from Dec. 28-30 in 24-hour blocks. If you want more Charlie's Angels, you can catch Farrah and the girls on sister network Universal HD with the Charlie's Angels Christmas Eve Marathon on Monday, Dec. 24 starting at 6am. And finally on New Year's Eve, end 2012 with the MacGyver New Year's Eve marathon that runs 24-hours beginning at 6am on Monday, Dec. 31.
As we mentioned earlier this month, Disney Channel is in the very early stages in developing Girl Meets World, a sequel to Boy Meets World. Now we have more news! Ben Savage (Cory Matthews) and Danielle Fishel (Topanga Lawrence Matthews) will reprise their roles in this new pilot, according to TVLine. The "potential" sequel series picks up more than a decade after Boy Meets World ended its ABC run and finds Cory and Topanga happily married and raising their 13-year-old daughter, Riley (from whose point of view the story is told). The pilot is still in the very early stages of development with Boy Meets World creator and executive producer Michael Jacobs at the helm.
Like we said, there is still a long way to go. A pilot needs to be ordered. Then it would need to cast everyone and tape the pilot. And then if Disney Channel likes it, it could be ordered to series. Hopefully the process speeds up and we actually get this on TV sometime in 2013, but a lot has to happen. We have a good start!
Read Danielle Fishel's blog entry on her thoughts and explanation on this series. All fans should read this so you know what Girls Meet World could bring should we get this series on TV.

Remembering TV Legend Larry Hagman of I Dream of Jeannie, Dallas; Town Hall Event with Betty White, Hosted by Regis
Legendary actor Larry Hagman, best known for playing Major Anthony "Tony" Nelson in I Dream of Jeannie and J.R. Ewing in Dallas, has died. He died on November 23 at Medical City Dallas Hospital in Dallas from complications of throat cancer. Mr. Hagman was 81.
Hagman's television career began with guest appearances in Decoy, Goodyear Playhouse, Studio One in Hollywood, Search for Tomorrow, Kraft Theatre, Harbormaster, Sea Hunt, The Defenders and The Rogues. He appeared in the daytime soap opera The Edge of Night as Ed Gibson for two years from 1961-1963. In 1965, he landed the role of befuddled astronaut Air Force Captain (later Major) Anthony "Tony" Nelson in I Dream of Jeannie. The series was about a 2000-year-old genie named Jeannie who falls in love and later marries her master. The popular NBC sitcom, co-starring Barbara Eden, Bill Daily and Hayden Rorke, ran for five seasons and 139 episodes. Hagman didn't appear in the two television reunion movies: I Dream of Jeannie: 15 Years Later in 1985 or I Still Dream of Jeannie in 1991. He said that five years of the series was enough for him. He did reunite with Eden several times on The Donny and Marie Show, Larry King Live and at the TV Land Awards in 2004.
His next sitcom role was in the The Good Life. The short-lived 1971-1972 NBC series, which co-starred Donna Mills, was about a middle-class American couple who decide to work as the live-in butler and cook for a wealthy family. In 1973, he starred with Diane Baker, Dick Gauthier and Leslie Graves in the ABC sitcom Here We Go Again. The series about the post-divorce life of two couples ran for 13 episodes. Some of his many other television guest appearances included Love, American Style, Rod Serling's Night Gallery, Dan August, The Name of the Game, Medical Story, Police Woman, McCloud, Police Story, Lucas Tanner, Marcus Welby, M.D., Harry O, Ellery Queen, The Streets of San Francisco, Barnaby Jones, McMillan and Wife and The Rockford Files. In 1997, he starred in the short-lived CBS drama Orleans. In 2011, he appeared in two episodes of Desperate Housewives as the husband of Lynette Scavo's mother. He also directed episodes of I Dream of Jeannie, The Good Life, Dallas and In the Heat of the Night.
Hagman's signature role came in 1977 when he was offered the role of ruthless oil baron J.R. Ewing in Dallas. The popular primetime soap opera ran for 14 seasons and 357 episodes from 1978-1991 on CBS. He was the only actor to appear in all 357 episodes of the series. In the 1980 third season cliffhanger finale, there was a big mystery of who shot J.R. two times. The November 1980 episode where the assailant was identified was watched by an estimated 80 million viewers that set a ratings record at the time. Hagman received two Emmy Awards nominations for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series in 1980 and 1981. He didn't win, but the show did receive four Emmy Awards. He also received four Golden Globe Awards nominations from 1981 to 1985. Hagman made five guest appearances as J.R. Ewing on the Dallas spin-off series Knots Landing in 1980-1982. He also returned for the two Dallas television reunion movies: 1996's J.R. Returns and 1998's War of the Ewings. In 2012, he starred in the TNT revival series Dallas, which continued the story of the Ewing family. Hagman had completed 6 of 15 episodes for the upcoming second season. His death will be incorporated into the storyline. The second season is scheduled to premiere on January 28, 2013.
The Archive of American Television conducted an extensive interview with him on December 7, 2004, to discuss his life and career. Survivors include his wife, Maj; daughter, Heidi; and son, Preston. Mr. Hagman was a true television icon and legend. J.R. Ewing was a character you loved to hate. He played one of the all-time greatest television villains to perfection. We thank him for all of the entertainment he brought us over the years. He will be greatly missed.
Several networks will be airing tributes this week. Me-TV is still in planning mode, but they will air the following episodes:
Monday, November 26, 11am CST - The Rockford Files "Forced Retirement" (1977)
Tuesday, November 27, 1:30am CST - Night Gallery "The Housekeeper"
Wednesday, November 28, 1:30am CST - Night Gallery "The Dead Man"
Me-Too in Chicago will have an I Dream of Jeannie marathon on Saturday, December 1 from 12pm-4pm CST. We'll post the episodes listing when it becomes available. Stay with us for news on any other tributes.
What are your favorite Larry Hagman memories? Discuss them on our I Dream of Jeannie or Dallas message boards. View photos in our I Dream of Jeannie, The Good Life, Here We Go Again and Dallas photo galleries.

Week 9 TV Ratings and Analysis; How the Sitcoms Did
Total Viewers: N/A.
Adults 18-49: N/A
Monday was another typical Monday, we had NBC on top in adults 18-49, while ABC took the total viewer crown. Starting with ABC, a two-hour Dancing with the Stars: All-Stars did 14.28 million and a 2.4 18-49 rating, up three tenths in 18-49 from previous week, as the finals airs tomorrow night. Castle followed with 10.36 million and a 2.0 18-49 rating, up a tenth in 18-49 from previous week. Next new episode is next Monday (Dec. 3), as Extreme Makeover: Home Edition returns for the holidays tomorrow night. For NBC, a two-hour The Voice, did 10.6 million and a night best 3.718-49 rating, but down an alarming seven tenths in 18-49 from previous week for a Monday season low. Very strange. A new Revolution followed with 7.02 million and a 2.6 18-49 rating, on par in 18-49 with previous week's series low despite its lead-in going down. Not bad considering that. Next up was CBS with new episodes, as How I Met Your Mother did 7.45 million and a 2.9 18-49 rating, down a tenth in 18-49 from the previous week. A repeat of Two and a Half Men came in and did 6.02 million and a 2.0 18-49 rating, which is up two tenths in 18-49 from previous week's all-new episode of Partners. A new 2 Broke Girls followed with 9.74 million and a 3.4 18-49 rating, which is up two tenths in 18-49 from previous week as the lead-in was more compatible probably. Still should be doing a bit better. Next, a new Mike & Molly garnered 9.25 million and a 2.9 18-49 rating, which is down a tenth in 18-49 from the previous week. A new Hawaii Five-0 at 10pm did 9.02 million and a 2.2 18-49, again up a tenth in 18-49 week-to-week. Fox was next with a new Bones doing 7.11 million and a 2.0 18-49 rating, back up a tenth in 18-49 from previous week. A new episode of dud The Mob Doctor did only 3.08 million and a 0.9 18-49 rating, but up a tenth in 18-49 from previous week's series low. Are the 13 episodes up yet? The CW aired a new 90210 at 8 with just 780,000 viewers and a 0.4 18-49 rating, back down two tenths in 18-49 from previous week. And a new Gossip Girl followed with just 720,000 viewers and a 0.4 18-49 rating, which is horrendous and on par in 18-49 with previous week.
On Tuesday, it was a sweep for CBS in 18-49 and total viewers. NBC took second place in 18-49. ABC claimed second in total viewers. Starting with CBS, a new episode of NCIS did 16.47 million and a 3.0 rating, which is good but below normal for this show. Next a new episode of NCIS: Los Angeles did 15.13 million and a 2.8 18-49 rating, on par with last week and posting good retention from its lead-in. And finally at 10pm, a new Vegas did 10.12 million a 1.8 18-49 rating, up two tenths from last week. Onto ABC, at 8pm Dancing with the Stars: All-Stars: The Results did 13.01 million and a 2.0 rating, as we said goodbye to Emmitt Smith and Apolo Ohno. It's down to the ladies with Melissa Rycroft, Kelly Monaco and Shawn Johnson battling for the mirror ball trophy. At 9pm, a new episode of Happy Endings did 4.48 million and only a 1.1 rating, as this show is not a fit out of the lead-in. A new episode of Don't Trust the B---- in Apartment 23 did just 2.99 million and only a 0.9 rating, down two tenths from last week. At 10pm, part one of a two-night Private Practice did 4.24 million and a 1.3 rating, up two tenths from last week's series low. NBC started off with The Voice doing 9.47 million and a 3.4 rating, down five tenths from last week. At 9pm, new comedy Go On did 5.97 million and a 2.1 18-49 rating, which is OK but not great. A new episode of The New Normal followed with 4.29 million and a 1.5 rating, down three tenths from last week but still winning the battle against the other comedies in the timeslot. A new Parenthood at 10pm did 4.62 million and a 1.7 18-49 rating, down two tenths from last week. Fox had its comedies with a new Raising Hope doing 3.57 million and a 1.5 rating, down one tenth from last week. A new episode of Ben and Kate followed with only 2.35 million and a 1.1 18-49 rating, even with last week. They should try this show at 9:30pm to see if it can improve. New Girl was up next with 4.11 million and a 2.0 18-49 rating, down two tenths from last week. And finally a new The Mindy Project did just 2.64 million and a 1.3 rating, down three tenths from last week. It's normal for shows to be down during Thanksgiving week. The CW had a new Hart of Dixie at 8pm and did 1.23 million and a 0.5 rating, down a tenth from last week. New series Emily Owens MD followed with 1.29 and a 0.4 18-49 rating, even with last week.
Wednesday-Saturday results are not final due to the holiday, so these are all preliminary numbers. Preliminary results show CBS in the lead in 18-49 and total viewers on Thanksgiving Eve. Fox is in second place in both categories. First, CBS started the night off with week ten of Survivor: Philippines at 9.36 million and a 2.3 rating, down three tenths in 18-49 from previous week. Veteran drama Criminal Minds followed at 9 with 11.47 million and a 2.7 18-49 rating, down three tenths from last week. A new CSI at 10 did 10.67 million and a 2.3 rating, down two tenths from last week. ABC kicked off the holiday season with their first airing of A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving doing 8.10 million and a 2.2 18-49 rating, up four tenth from last year's airing. At pm, a repeat of Modern Family did 5.83 million and a 1.7 rating, down quite a bit from a typical repeat. A repeat of Suburgatory followed with 3.83 million and a 1.1 18-49 rating. The conclusion of the two-night Private Practice event garnered only 3.68 million and a 1.0 rating, down two tenths from the first part. ABC is clearly burning off the remaining episodes as quickly as possible at this point. On Fox, a new two-hour The X Factor did 7.18 million and a 2.2 18-49 rating, down seven tenths from last week. Onto NBC, week two of Whitney did 3.94 million and a 1-1 18-49 rating, down three tenths from the season premiere. New comedy Guys with Kids followed with another series low of 3.50 million and a 1.1 18-49 rating, down two tenths from last week. At 9, a new Law & Order: SVU did 5.19 million and a 1.3 18-49 rating, down four tenths from last week. Week seven of Chicago Fire followed at 10 doing 5.43 million and a 1.4 rating, down two two tenths from last week. I wonder why the networks are scheduling any new scripted shows for Thanksgiving Eve. They should be saving new episodes. The CW had an airing of the Thanksgiving film classic Planes, Trains and Automobiles at 8pm. It did 1.72 million and a 0.5 18-49 rating. Smart move by The CW to not burn any new episodes.
Preliminary results for Thursday show NBC with a big win in both categories thanks to football. Fox is in second place. Starting with ABC, a second airing of A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving did 4.05 million and a 1.2 18-49. When you combine the two airings, those are some solid numbers. A Modern Family repeat at 9pm did 3.44 million and a 1.0 18-49 rating. The Bad 25 Michael Jackson special did bad ratings with just a preliminary 1.2 18-49 rating. CBS had a night of repeats. They opened with a repeat The Big Bang Theory doing 7.11 million and a 1.8 rating, down quite a bit from a typical repeat as expected. A repeat Two and a Half Men was up next with 6.77 million and a 1.8 rating, good retention from its lead-in. At 9pm, it was another repeat of #1 comedy (or scripted series) The Big Bang Theory with 7.34 million and a 2.0 18-49 rating. A repeat of 2 Broke Girls followed with 6.14 million and a 1.6 18-49 rating. At 10pm, a repeat of Person of Interest closed the night with 6.80 million and a 1.3 18-49 rating. Fox's primetime was delayed by 17 minutes due to the NFL overrun, so these numbers are scrambled and will change. The X Factor started the night with 8.32 million and a 2.5 18-49 rating. The 9pm half-hour of The X Factor and Glee did 6.89 million and a 2.3 18-49 rating. The final half-hour of Glee did 4.45 million and a 1.5 18-49 rating. NBC's Football Night in America did 10.89 and a 3.7 18-49 rating at 8pm. The New England Patriots at New York Jets game followed with a preliminary 6.2 18-49 rating to easily lead NBC to the nightly win. The CW's big gun Vampire Diaries had a repeat airing and did 794,000 viewers and a 0.2 18-49 rating. New series Beauty and the Beast also had a repeat and did 845,000 viewers and a 0.2 18-49 rating, posting an unlikely win in viewers over its lead-in.
Now, final numbers for Friday and Saturday are not available, but ABC took the ratings and 18-49 crowns on Friday. CBS has a slight edge in 18-49, while NBC is in second in total viewers. A new Last Man Standing and Malibu Country were even with last week. A repeat of the surging Shark Tank won the 9pm hour. CBS, Fox and The CW aired Christmas specials. The durable Frosty the Snowman/Frosty Returns combo on CBS led the 8pm hour in viewers and 18-49. At 10pm, ABC's 20/20 won the hour.
Saturday once again belonged to ABC as their college football coverage of Notre Dame at USC dominated the night with a preliminary 4.4 18-49 rating. NBC's airing of Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull led them to second place in 18-49.
Tonight ABC Sunday returns with all-new episodes of AFV, Once Upon a Time, Revenge and 666 Park Avenue. NBC will be #1 with a huge NFL matchup between the Packers and Giants. CBS is also all-new tonight with 60 Minutes, The Amazing Race, The Good Wife and The Mentalist. No overrun for them this week, so ABC and Fox will battle for second tonight. Fox's animation block has new episodes of The Simpsons, Bob's Burgers, Family Guy and The Cleveland Show. They will be helped by the NFL lead-in tonight.
As for the week (week 9), NBC will be first in 18-49 thanks to a double helping of the NFL on Thursday and Sunday. Fox could battle for second thanks to the NFL overrun tonight. ABC and CBS will look to close out the week strongly tonight with all-new episodes. As for the coming week (week 10), it will be mostly new episodes across the networks. Dancing with the Stars will crown this season's champion on Tuesday. Our pick to win the mirror ball trophy is the lovely Melissa Rycroft. Go Melissa!
- The Simpsons (Fox) - An all-new at 8 did 5.06 million and a 2.4 18-49 rating, down eight tenths in 18-49 from previous week when it was inflated because of the NFL lead-in.
- The Cleveland Show (Fox) - A new showing at 7:30pm did 3.26 million and a 1.6 18-49 rating, which is not that great.
- Bob's Burgers (Fox) 2 airings - A new episode at 8:30pm did 3.94 million and a 1.8 18-49 rating, back down six tenths in 18-49 week-to-week when it was inflated by the bigger lead-in. A repeat earlier in the night only mustered 1.57 million and a 0.6 18-49 rating, which is terrible.
- Family Guy (Fox) - A new episode at 9 did 5.14 million and a 2.6 18-49 rating still below normal and down a tenth in 18-49 week-to-week.
- American Dad! (Fox) - A new episode returned after a week off and did 4.21 million and a 2.1 18-49 rating, which is OK.
- How I Met Your Mother (CBS) - A new episode did 7.45 million and a 2.9 18-49 rating, which is down a tenth in 18-49 from previous week's season low. Still way down from last season.
- Two and a Half Men (CBS) - A repeat on a special night did 6.02 million and a 2.0 18-49 rating, up two tenths in 18-49 from previous week's now canceled Partners.
- 2 Broke Girls (CBS) - 9.74 million and a 3.4 18-49 rating is up two tenths in 18-49 from previous week. Solid but this show was doing better last season at 8:30. Perhaps in December when lesser competition arises?
- Mike & Molly (CBS) - A new episode did 9.25 million and a 2.9 18-49 rating, which is solid and down just a tenth in 18-49 from previous week.
- Raising Hope (Fox) - A new episode did 3.57 million and a 1.5 18-49 rating, which is OK...could be worse.
- Ben and Kate (Fox) - A new episode did only 2.35 million and a 1.1 18-49 rating. One of the biggest renewals of the season was this show.
- New Girl (Fox) - A new episode did a below normal 4.11 million and a 2.0 18-49 rating, as this show slot is filled with comedies on other networks.
- Go On (NBC) - A new episode did 5.97 million and a 2.1 18-49 rating, beating the Fox comedy in 18-49...but this show had a bigger lead-in, so in my book, the Fox comedy did better.
- Happy Endings (ABC) - A new episode did 4.38 million and a 1.1 18-49 rating, which is not good. It needs a compatible lead-in and should go back to Wednesdays, even if it is 10pm.
- The Mindy Project (Fox) - The dud did only 2.64 million and a 1.3 18-49 rating. What a disappointment in the ratings.
- The New Normal (NBC) - A new episode beat the competing comedies with 4.29 million and a 1.5 18-49 rating.
- Don't Trust the B---- in Apartment 23 (ABC) - Only 2.99 million and a 0.9 18-49 rating for a new episode. Only thing that is good about that is that it skews very young.
- The Middle (ABC) - preempted.
- Whitney (NBC) - Week two saw a drop to just 3.94 million and a 1.1 18-49 rating. NBC will need to be patient with it.
- The Neighbors (ABC) - preempted.
- Guys with Kids (NBC) - A new episode did only 3.50 million and a 1.1 18-49 rating, setting another series low.
- Modern Family (ABC) - A repeat did 5.83 million and a 1.7 18-49 rating. This was down quite a bit from a typical repeat, but it's expected because of the holiday. It's Dunphy vs. Pritchett this week.
- Suburgatory (ABC) - A repeat did 3.83 million and a 1.1 rating. It has a great lead-in, so there's room to grow. Thinking low 3's in the winter.
- The Big Bang Theory (CBS) - Two repeat airings this week. At 8pm, it did 7.11 million and a 1.8 18-49 rating. The 9pm airing garnered 7.34 million and a 2.0 rating. Not bad for Thanksgiving night against football.
- Two and a Half Men (CBS) - A repeat did 6.77 million and a 1.8 18-49 rating. It hit a season high last week, so it looks like it can continue to grow.
- 2 Broke Girls(CBS) - A special repeat airing at 9:30pm did 6.14 million and a 1.6 18-49 rating.
- 30 Rock (NBC) - preempted.
- Up All Night (NBC) - preempted.
- The Office (NBC) - preempted.
- Parks & Recreation (NBC) - preempted.
- Last Man Standing (ABC) - Week four did a preliminary 6.71 million and a 1.4 18-49 rating, even with last week. Still solid, but could be better.
- Malibu Country (ABC) - The fourth episode of this new comedy did a preliminary 6.43 million and a 1.4 rating, even with last week. Could be better. The talk of the revival of TGIF was a bit premature.
- None
Summing it up. How I Met Your Mother, 2 Broke Girls and Mike & Molly were impressive for the week. Everything else was OK (such as New Girl, Go On, The New Normal) or just plain terrible (such as Ben and Kate, The Mindy Project, Happy Endings, Don't Trust the B---- in Apartment 23).

Digital Digest: New Releases in the New Year from Sony; CHiPs '99 DVD Review
Last season, ABC aired (very briefly) the drama Pan Am, which was not nearly as successful as the network had hoped... but now, Sony is breathing new life into the series by releasing Pan Am - The Complete Series on DVD. The set is scheduled to be released on January 29 at a $30.99 MSRP.
Since we've got such a light news week this week, we'd feel irresponsible if we didn't give you a glimpse at some of the nice deals going on at amazon.com this weekend (note that all of these are subject to end at any minute, so act on them quick!). You can find many complete series sets for around (or even under) $50 right now, including The Andy Griffith Show, Route 66, Hogan's Heroes, MacGyver, Get Smart, Gilligan's Island, and more! I picked up a few of these myself already, and they are a great deal!
DVD Review: CHiPs '99 (Warner Archive Collection $21.99)
by Todd
Attention all units: the lights are flashing, the bikes are roaring and after 15 years, there's a lot more freeway to patrol! But there's not so much interstate that California Highway Patrolmen Ponch and Jon can't cover it when they again go wherever the rubber meets the road in CHiPs '99. Larry Wilcox returns as straight-arrow officer Jon Baker and Erik Estrada reprises his role as free-spirited Frank "Ponch" Poncherello in this 15-year reunion that adds a '90s sensibility to the can't-miss elements that made the 1977-83 CHiPs TV series a fan-pleasing success: cool motorcycles, freewheeling fun and widespread disregard for the California traffic code. This time, that disregard turns dangerous. Ponch and Jon confront an automobile hijacking ring that may be the ultimate in road rage!
CHiPs '99 premiered on TNT on October 27, 1998. It was directed by Jon Cassar (24). The teleplay was by Morgan Gendel. The story was by Rick Rosner and Morgan Gendel. It was a Rick Rosner Television Production. Rick Rosner created the original series. Erik Estrada and Larry Wilcox also served as executive producers, along with Christopher Morgan and Rick Rosner.
Jon Baker is now a Captain with the CHP. He's married to Sandy (Stacie Randall), who is part of the CHP team as an Officer. Ponch returns after a 15-year retirement. He is a widower with a 9-year-old son named Frank, Jr.. Joe Getraer (Robert Pine) is now the CHP Commissioner. Artie Grossman (Paul Linke) works in investigations as a detective. Bruce Nelson (Bruce Penhall) is promoted to Sergeant. Brodie Greer also returns as Officer Barry "Bear" Baricza. New characters include Paul Korver as Officer Peter Roulette and David Ramsey as Officer Sergeant McFall. Celebrity appearances include Stephen J. Cannell as Bendix, Garry Marshall as a tour bus operator, Judge Judy Sheindlin as herself, and Johnnie Cochran as himself.
Warner Archive Collection's manufactured-on-demand release comes in an eco-friendly Viva case. The cover art features a photo of Larry Wilcox and Erik Estrada, which was also used as the film poster. There are two small photos of Jon and Ponch riding their new BMW motorcycles on the back cover. A synopsis of the movie, the production credits and the DVD specs are provided. The DVD-R disc has the same photo of Jon and Ponch that is used as for the cover art.
A generic Warner Bros. menu is used. It has a Warner Bros. water tower in the background. There are only two options on the menu for Play and a Home Video Promo Spot. The promo spot runs 30 seconds and was used when the movie was released on VHS back in 1999. Chapters are placed at the appropriate places. There are no scene selection menus.
The video and audio quality is very good. This is a nice transfer of the movie. It's presented in its original full screen 1.37:1 format. It has a total running time of 94 minutes. The picture is very sharp and the colors are good. They shot it entirely on location in California, so there's a lot of nice scenery. It's noted that this disc is expected to play back in DVD video "play only" devices, and may not play back in other DVD devices including recorders and PC drives. The audio is a Dolby Digital Stereo track. There are no problems with the audio. Steppenwolf's (or possibly a cover) Born to Be Wild and Randy Newman's I Love L.A. are used in the movie. Stacy Widelitz provides a nice music score, including several new variations of the CHiPs theme. There are no subtitles or closed captioning on this release.
TNT had aired reruns of the original series for many years at the time, so they were a natural choice to air the reunion movie. I had only watched it once on the night it originally aired in 1998. It's nice to be able to revisit it again on DVD. The movie is very fun and entertaining. It captures a lot of the spirit of the original series. They did a good job of blending the original characters with the new ones. It was nice to see these characters 15 years later. I only wish they were able to bring back more of the original cast members, such as Lou Wagner, Brianne Leary, Randi Oakes and Michael Dorn.
The storyline of the movie is similar to a typical episode of the original CHiPs series. There were some nice action scenes, stunts, and explosions. I thought maybe the movie could have used even more action, but this was a pretty low budget movie that was made for cable. The movie also has some heartfelt drama and light comedy. The scene where Jon takes his neighbor to small claims court on Judge Judy for his neighbor's dog going on his lawn was funny. Johnnie Cochran has a memorable quote about poo.
It's been over four years since the second season of CHiPs was released on DVD, so this is a welcome release for fans of the series. There's been speculation that music rights are holding up the third season. Let's hope those issues can be resolved. It would be great to have the final four seasons available on DVD through the Warner Archive Collection. Until that happens, pick up this movie to watch Ponch and Jon ride again!

Why You Should Follow Him: Anybody who watches SNL these days knows that each and every episode can be a complete "grab bag," with some sketches that are really good and others that really stink. And honestly, that has been the way it has been with the series since it debuted nearly 40 years ago. But one constant source of "good" in each and every episode is the Weekend Update segment, which Meyers began hosting with Amy Poehler in 2006 and became the sole anchor of in 2008. What is great about his Twitter feed, though, is that he manages to put his wit and humor that he puts in Weekend Update each and every week on a continuous feed that fans can follow 24/7.

Blog Book Review: Single Season Sitcoms, 1948-1979 - A Complete Guide; Sitcom Stars on Talk Shows (Week of November 26, 2012)
All in all, this is an excellent and well-researched book that sitcom fans are sure to enjoy. I tried my hardest to find "cracks" in the book, such as a sitcom that was missed, but as it turns out, every single one that I thought should have been included didn't fit the criteria (for example, they all had a second season or they aired after 1979). Some of the details that I read about some of the sitcoms in this book were much more detailed than anything I've read before, and I was impressed that anybody could know so much about some of these very rare series. It would be nice to see some follow up books similar to this one, such as perhaps a book on single season sitcoms after 1979... although understandably, these have become far too numerous in more recent years to write a concise book on all of them. In any event, Leszczak did an excellent job with this book, and I think that it is certainly worth it for any sitcom fan to pick up this book.

2012 Thanksgiving TV Marathons on TV This Holiday Weekend
Happy Thanksgiving to you all! We thank you for visiting us on this special day and every other day, all-year. We also are very thankful that you all will continue to visit every single day and making this blog a continued huge success. We get thousands of visitors every day (even on weekends). So, we thank you for the growth each year! It is simply amazing and I can't believe it has been over 7 years now of posting on this blog every single day no matter what! No days off!
Before we let you all go back to your families (or special friends), we want to let you know the marathons on TV you and your family might want to watch during the day and after Thanksgiving dinner. We love TV marathons and you all come here on each holiday to see what marathons are airing, so as always we will do that today, too, of course!
We have told you about many of the sitcom related marathons already in our regular news stories. Our pick of the weekend is the Leave it to Beaver 27-hour marathon today (Thanksgiving Day) that started at 12am ET on Antenna TV! You can't get more family than that show! TV Land has a Laugh More-a-thon Weekend with many classics and modern classics including Leave it to Beaver, I Love Lucy, Dick Van Dyke Show, Cosby Show and more. The fun continues all weekend long including marathons of Hot in Cleveland & Happily Divorced. BET and Centric have sitcom marathons today through Sunday. BET will feature a Moesha marathon today from 8am-3am, while sister network Centric will feature a Bernie Mac marathon from 9am-6pm. BET and Centric will continue the sitcom fun into the weekend with marathons like Steve Harvey Show, Jamie Foxx Show and The Parkers. VH1 Classic will feature a Rocky & His Friends marathon today from 11am-7pm. The Hub will present a 12-hour ALF marathon today from 6pm-6am! All night with the furry guy! And New York City is lucky to have a marathon of The Honeymooners for the first time on Thanksgiving, today on WPIX from 11am-5pm! So yeah we told you about all these already either recently or many moons ago. Now let's get to some we haven't had a chance to mention!
We didn't get a chance to mention CMT's Roseanne Thanksgiving episodes marathon airing today from 2pm-6pm. TBS will present a Friends marathon today from 11am-6pm. Back in New York City, a Taxi marathon will air on WLNY-TV 55/10 on Friday from 9am-9pm. There are a lot of good sitcom marathons this season! We also have many many Thanksgiving themed episodes airing that are not in marathons like Reba on CMT, Boy Meets World on ABC Family, Full House on Nick at Nite, The Beverly Hillbillies & That Girl on MeTV Network, The King of Queens on TBS and sitcoms like A Different World, Martin, Half & Half, and Living Single on TV One.
Non-sitcom wise, we told you about INSP's Matlock Black Friday Marathon from 12pm-2am. TNT has a Castle marathon today from 10am-11pm featuring the great dio of Castle & Beckett! BBC America has a Star Trek: The Next Generation marathon today from 12am-6am. Chiller has a marathon of Dark Shadows from 6am-5pm today, while Cloo gives us a 24-hour Psych marathon today starting at 6am. ESPN Classic even gets into the marathon game with a marathon of Friday Night Lights today starting at 12pm, while a Waltons marathon hits the airwaves on GMC from 1pm-9pm. Other notables for Thanksgiving Thursday include a Law & Order: Criminal Intent marathon on Oxygen starting at 2pm, a marathon of The Kennedys on ReelzChannel TV starting at 8am, a Wipeout marathon on truTV today from 7-11pm, and The Gibbs That Keeps on Giving NCIS marathon on USA Network from 6am-6am. We also have many many movies marathons on networks like ABC Family, Hallmark Channel, Hallmark Movie Channel, Lifetime, TBS, TV Guide Network and Syfy's James Bond Movies marathon.
Check out more TV marathons on Thanksgiving weekend, from our friends at TV Tango!
And don't forget classic holiday specials, as tonight at 8pm on ABC the holiday classic A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving airs. It's an annual tradition to watch! Can't get enough of old Chuck! If you haven't seen it already, view our 2012 Network TV Holiday Specials and Movies Guide, so you don't miss anything on network TV this holiday season. And also view our ABC Family 25 Days of Christmas schedule, because that is the place to be as always during the holiday season, but that starts Dec. 1, but the countdown has begun with the Countdown to 25 Days of Christmas!

VH1 Classic Acquires Rocky and His Friends; BET Brings in Moesha
VH1 Classic has acquired the rights to the classic animated comedy Rocky and His Friends. It originally aired on ABC from 1959-61 known as Rocky and His Friends and then as The Bullwinkle Show for the remainder of its run on NBC from 1961-64. The series will begin tomorrow with a Thanksgiving marathon from 11am-7pm. The series will join live action comedies Married...with Children and The Larry Sanders Show on the late night line-up. Rocky and His Friends will air three nights a week Sun-Tues (early Mon-Wed) at 1am following The Larry Sanders Show at 12:30am (which is five days a week, Sun-Thurs) in its new time period. Married...with Children will move to Sun-Thurs at 11:30pm & 12am, so a half-hour earlier. The sitcom will also remain weekdays 6-7pm.
Rocky and His Friends is the animated antics of flying squirrel Rocket J. Squirrel, or Rocky, and his dim companion, Bullwinkle J. Moose. And let's not forget the two spies who always complicate things for our heroes: Boris Badenov and Natasha Fatale.
BET will be sharing the comedy Moesha with sister network Centric beginning next week! Centric has been airing the series since October, airing it weekdays from 2-3pm ET. Hot in Cleveland Sets Live Episode for June 19, 2013; TV Land Schedule Change Has Three's Company Returning, The Nanny Exiting Next Week
TV Land's hit sitcom Hot in Cleveland will premiere its summer season (AKA: second half of the fourth season) with a super-sized LIVE episode. The episode, airing Wednesday, June 19, 2013, will be live on the East Coast at 10pm ET, with the West Coast getting the live-to-tape version three hours later at 10pm PT. Hot in Cleveland, which is already filmed in front of a live audience, stars television favorites Valerie Bertinelli (One Day at a Time), Jane Leeves (Frasier), Wendie Malick (Just Shoot Me!) and the legendary Betty White (The Golden Girls). The sitcom is currently shooting its fourth season and returns with new episodes next week on Wednesday, November 28 at 10pm ET/PT, part of the first half of season four. Many guest stars will come aboard once again with new guests like Heather Locklear and returning guests like Regis Philbin.
The "live" episode on June 19 will be longer than the normal 21 minute episode, so stay tuned as we get closer to the date of how long it will be! Catch up with season 3 before tomorrow's fourth season premiere, if you haven't already with the season 3 DVD...read our DVD review!
We stick with TV Land for more news. TV Land has made some changes to its late night schedule and Saturday morning schedule that will for the most part start next week, the week of Nov. 26. Essentially, Three's Company is returning from hiatus, while The Nanny goes on a hiatus. Three's Company will return on Saturday, Dec. 1 and air every Saturday morning from 4am-11am for seven straight hours! It will cut the Roseanne slots, which was airing from 6am-5pm on Saturdays. Now it will be 11am-5pm. As for The Nanny, the series is airing on TV Land weeknights from approx. 3-4am, but starting next week it will be off the line-up. Late nights starting 1am will be altered, with Hot in Cleveland and Happily Divorced reruns airing in the 1am hour beginning next week. The 2am hour will now be That '70s Show, pushing Roseanne back to the 3am hour, replacing The Nanny, which departs. The 4-5am and 5-6am hours of Home Improvement and That '70s Show will remain intact, but on Friday nights (early Saturday mornings), as mentioned will now be Three's Company.
Three's Company left the TV Land schedule in late September, so now it returns over two months later. This is good news as we mentioned last week that Antenna TV will be putting the series on hiatus starting in January. And The Nanny's departure is not a big deal since it airs on sister network Nick at Nite every night from 10-11pm. Come on back for any more news and stay with us as we detail TV Land's Merrython schedule soon.

Three freshman series received the pink slip on Friday. First up, new CBS comedy Partners has been given the ax after 6 episodes. It will be replaced by comedy repeats effective immediately. No word on when the remaining 7 episodes will air, if ever. View the encore schedule in the time period through Dec. 31. It is expected a new series will take over on Jan. 7 whether it is veteran Rules of Engagement or new mid-season comedy Friend Me. Anyway, Partners was about two life-long best friends and business partners whose "bromance" is tested when one of them is engaged to be married.
Meanwhile, also given the cancelation notice on Friday were two ABC drama series--666 Park Avenue and Last Resort. Both series struggled in the ratings, despite critical acclaim for Shawn Ryan's Last Resort and fan support for 666 Park Avenue starring Terry O'Quinn. The good news is that ABC, as of now, plans on airing all 13 episodes for both series. 6 episodes for both series are left to air and ABC plans on airing new episodes of both after the Thanksgiving break is over. Episode 8 of 666 Park Avenue airs Sunday, Nov. 25 and episode 8 of Last Resort airs Thursday, Nov. 29. View our ABC day by day schedule to see all the episode details.

Week 8 TV Ratings and Analysis; How the Sitcoms Did
Total Viewers: #1. CBS 11.8 million; #2. ABC 8.44 million; #3. NBC 6.54 million; #4. Fox 5.73 million; #5. The CW 1.93 million.
Adults 18-49: #1. CBS 2.8/7.6 (rating/share); #2. NBC 2.3/6.4; #3. Fox 2.1/5.5; #4. ABC 2.0/5.5; #5. The CW 0.8/2.0
Monday was a typical night, we had NBC on top in adults 18-49, while ABC took the total viewer crown. Starting with ABC, a two-hour Dancing with the Stars: All-Stars did 13.79 million and a 2.1 18-49 rating, on par in 18-49 from previous week. Castle followed with 10.07 million and a 1.9 18-49 rating, also on par in 18-49 from previous week. For NBC, a two-hour The Voice, did 11.63 million and a night best 4.4 18-49 rating, but down a tenth in 18-49 from previous week. A new Revolution followed with 7.1 million and a 2.6 18-49 rating, down another two tenths in 18-49 from previous week for another series low. Only a few left before the big hiatus. Will this show go the way of other hiatus series from the past? Next up was CBS with new episodes, as How I Met Your Mother did 7.95 million and a 3.0 18-49 rating, up two tenths in 18-49 from the previous week's season low. A new episode of Partners did 5.48 million and a 1.8 18-49 rating, which is down three tenths in 18-49 from previous week, tying a series low. After that performance, CBS has now pulled it. Look for repeats through the end of December (with a new How I Met Your Mother hour on Dec. 17). A new 2 Broke Girls followed with 8.94 million and a 3.2 18-49 rating, which is solid and on par with previous week. Still should be doing a bit better. Next, a new Mike & Molly garnered 9.24 million and a 3.0 18-49 rating, which is up two tenths in 18-49 from the previous week. Almost close to retaining everything from its lead-in, nice. A new Hawaii Five-0 at 10pm did 7.96 million and a 2.1 18-49, up a tenth in 18-49 week-to-week. Fox was next with a new Bones doing 6.96 million and a 1.9 18-49 rating, down a tenth in 18-49 from previous week. A new episode of dud The Mob Doctor did only 3.01 million and a 0.8 18-49 rating, down two tenths in 18-49 from previous week for a series low. Are the 13 episodes up yet? The CW aired a new 90210 at 8 with just 1.16 million and a 0.6 18-49 rating, but actually up two tenths in 18-49 from previous week. And a new Gossip Girl followed with just 730,000 viewers and a 0.4 18-49 rating, which is horrendous but up a tenth in 18-49 from previous week.
On Tuesday, it was NBC by a hair over CBS in 18-49, but CBS had a commanding total viewers win. Starting with CBS, a new episode of NCIS did 17.05 million and a 3.1 18-49 rating, which is good but below normal for this show. Next a new episode of NCIS: Los Angeles did 15.77 million and a 2.8 18-49 rating, posting good retention from its lead-in. And finally at 10pm, a new Vegas skewed very old with 10.41 million and a just a 1.6 18-49 rating. Onto ABC, at 8pm Dancing with the Stars: All-Stars: The Results did 12.11 million and a 1.9 18-49 rating, as we said goodbye to Kirstie Alley and surprisingly Gilles Marini. At 9pm, a new episode of Happy Endings did 4.36 million and a 1.3 18-49 rating, as this show is not a fit out of the lead-in. It's too good to not try it back on Wednesdays. Put it at 10pm even. A new episode of Don't Trust the B---- in Apartment 23 followed with 3.1 million and 1.1 18-49 rating, which skewed much more younger than the lead-in, but still low overall. At 10pm, a new Private Practice did 3.72 million and a 1.1 18-49 rating for a series low. NBC started off with The Voice doing 11.15 million and a 3.9 18-49 rating, which is solid but below normal. At 9pm, new comedy Go On did 6.09 million and a 2.2 18-49 rating, which is OK but not great. A new episode of The New Normal followed with 4.66 million and a 1.8 18-49 rating, which is not too bad and won its half-hour against the other comedies. A new Parenthood at 10pm won its hour in a battle of low rated series doing 4.82 million and a 1.9 18-49 rating. This might be the lowest rated hour on TV right now. Fox had its comedies with a new Raising Hope doing 3.73 million and a 1.6 18-49 rating. While not good, the rating isn't that bad. A new episode of Ben and Kate however did horrible with 2.39 million and a 1.1 18-49 rating. Why was this picked-up for the rest of the season so quickly is beyond me. A new New Girl followed with 4.35 million and a 2.2 18-49 rating, which is below normal but it is up against two other similar comedies. And finally a new The Mindy Project is still limping doing only 3.17 million and a 1.6 18-49 rating. The CW had a new Hart of Dixie at 8pm and did 1.62 million and a 0.6 18-49 rating. New series Emily Owens MD followed with 1.38 million and a 0.4 18-49 rating.
Wednesday had Fox, CBS and ABC battling and all three were very close in 18-49, while CBS took home the total viewer crown easily. First, CBS started the night off with week nine of Survivor: Philippines at 10.06 million and a 2.6 18-49 rating, down two tenths in 18-49 from previous week. Veteran drama Criminal Minds followed at 9 with 12.2 million and a 3.0 18-49 rating, on par in 18-49 from previous week. A new CSI at 10 did 11.01 million and a 2.5 18-49 rating, up two tenths in 18-49 from previous week. This is an aging line-up. ABC started off the night with an all-new episode of The Middle doing 8.79 million and a 2.6 18-49 rating, which is very solid but down just a tenth in 18-49 from previous week. A new episode of The Neighbors followed with 6.82 million and a 1.9 18-49 rating, down two tenths in 18-49 from previous week. At 9pm, a new episode of Modern Family did 11.89 million and a 4.6 18-49 rating, down two tenths in 18-49 from previous week. At 9:30, a new Suburgatory posted 7.06 million and a 2.4 18-49 rating, down five tenths in 18-49 from previous week. I think that was my favorite episode of the night. A new Nashville concluded the night at 10pm with 5.93 million and a 1.8 18-49 rating, down two tenths in 18-49 from previous week. Still a consistent show. On Fox, a live two-hour The X Factor did 8.15 million and a 2.9 18-49 rating, up a tenth from previous week. Onto NBC, the season premiere of Whitney did just 4.22 million and a 1.4 18-49 rating, which is not good. New comedy Guys with Kids followed and tied its series low with 3.91 million and a 1.3 18-49 rating. Not good. At 9, a new Law & Order: SVU did 5.78 million and a 1.7 18-49 rating. Time to call it quits. Week six of Chicago Fire followed at 10 doing 5.77 million and 1.6 18-49 rating, back down six tenths in 18-49 from previous week. Like I said last week, it was playing with fool's gold for one night. The CW had week six of Arrow and it did 3.83 million and a 1.3 18-49 rating, down a tenth in 18-49 from the previous week. This is a solid hit for the network. A new Supernatural at 9pm followed and did 2.32 million and a 1.0 18-49 rating, identical with previous week. Wednesdays continue to look solid for The CW.
Thursday it was CBS with the nightly win with its regular line-up thanks to a monster showing from its big series. Starting with ABC, a new Last Resort did 5.68 million and a 1.2 18-49 rating, which cis down two tenths in 18-49 from previous week for a series low. The series has been canceled, but the remaining episodes will air. At 9pm, ABC went on top with a new Grey's Anatomy doing 8.84 million and a 3.2 18-49 rating, down a tenth in 18-49 from previous week. And at 10pm, the addicting Scandal did 6.02 million and a 2.0 18-49 rating, up a tenth in 18-49 from previous week. What a great show! CBS opened with a new the Big Bang Theory at 17.63 million and a 5.7 18-49 rating, which was up six tenths in 18-49 from previous week for a season high. The total viewer count was a SERIES high. Now the #1 comedy (or scripted series), its biggest lead over Modern Family ever in 18-49. A new episode of Two and a Half Men followed with 13.87 million and a 4.1 18-49 rating, up a tenth from previous week, for a new season high. Then Person of Interest was new and did 14.57 million and a 3.1 18-49 rating, up two tenths in 18-49 from previous week. At 10pm, a new Elementary posted 10.75 million and a 2.3 18-49 rating, up a tenths in 18-49 from previous week. I don't understand why this show will air after the Super Bowl this season. Fox had a one-hour The X Factor and did 7.47 million and a 2.4 18-49 rating, up a tenth in 18-49 from previous week. NBC returned 30 Rock and did just 3.34 million and a 1.2 18-49 rating. A new episode of Up All Night was just as bad with 3.1 million and a 1.3 18-49 rating. At 9pm, The Office was low with 4.16 million and a 2.1 18-49 rating, down three tenths in 18-49 from previous week. At 9:30, Parks & Recreation followed with 3.52 million and a 1.7 18-49 rating, which isn't good but on par in 18-49 with previous week. At 10pm, Rock Center with Brian Williams posted 3.97 million and a 1.1 18-49 rating, up a tenth in 18-49 from previous week. The CW's big gun Vampire Diaries had a new airing and did 2.84 million and a 1.3 18-49 rating, down two tenths in 18-49 from previous week. New series Beauty and the Beast followed at 9pm and did 1.56 million and a 0.6 rating, down a tenth in 18-49 from previous week.
Now, final numbers for Friday and Saturday are not available, but ABC took the top spot again on Friday in 18-49 while CBS finished first in total viewers. A new Last Man Standing and Malibu Country on ABC were down some again from previous week but still were solid #2 behind Undercover Boss for CBS. Shark Tank was #1 at 9pm and the night once again in 18-49, despite falling a bit. NBC had to settle for second at 9pm with Grimm. Fox's Kitchen Nightmares and Fringe continued to be low but on par with previous week when everything else was down some from previous week.
Saturday belonged to ABC as College Football action took home the top spot, over Fox's college football coverage by a lot. CBS and NBC drama repeats trailed big.
Tonight ABC Sunday (AFV, Once Upon a Time, Revenge and 666 Park Avenue) is preempted except for AFV. From 8-11pm, 40th Anniversary of the American Music Awards will air and should be good for a solid third behind two networks boosted by the NFL. NBC will be #1 with the NFL game tonight with the Ravens and Steelers. CBS has a new Amazing Race following 60 Minutes. Then there are new episodes of The Good Wife and The Mentalist. This will be a second place finish, only because there will be an NFL overrun lead-in. The longer it goes, the better for CBS. Fox's animation block has new episodes of The Cleveland Show, The Simpsons, Bob's Burgers, Family Guy starting at 7:30pm, that should be 4th place since there is no direct NFL lead-in.
As for the week (week 8), CBS will be first in HH/viewers. The 18-49 crown is up in the air and it depends on tonight's NFL. If CBS hasa big overrun, it should hang on for the 18-49 weekly win, if not NBC will take it thanks to the NFL tonight. ABC should be second in HH/viewers, followed closely by NBC. And Fox will have to settle for fourth in HH/viewers. In 18-49, third place is up for grabs, but ABC should take it over Fox. As for the coming week (week 9), look for the end of November sweep and the Thanksgiving break.
- The Simpsons (Fox) - An all-new episode following NFL action at 8:20pm ET did 6.86 million and a 3.2 18-49 rating, , up six tenths in 18-49 from previous week. Inflated because of the NFL lead-in.
- The Cleveland Show (Fox) - preempted.
- Bob's Burgers (Fox) - A new episode delayed til 8:51pm ET did 4.89 million and a 2.4 18-49 rating, also up six tenths in 18-49 week-to-week.
- Family Guy (Fox) 2 airings - A new episode at 9:20pm ET did 5.57 million and a 2.7 18-49 rating still below normal despite going up two tenths in 18-49 week-to-week. A second new episode followed at 9:50pm ET and did 5.06 million and a 2.3 18-49 rating, which is not good for this show.
- American Dad! (Fox) - preempted.
- How I Met Your Mother (CBS) - A new episode did 7.95 million and a 3.0 18-49 rating, which is up two tenths in 18-49 from previous week, which was a season low.
- Partners (CBS) - A new episode did 5.48 million and a 1.8 18-49 rating, down three tenths in 18-49 from previous week and now it has been pulled. Goodbye.
- 2 Broke Girls (CBS) - 8.94 million and a 3.2 18-49 rating is solid but this show was doing better last season at 8:30.On par with previous week in 18-49.
- Mike & Molly (CBS) - A new episode did 9.24 million and a 3.0 18-49 rating, which is solid and up two tenths in 18-49 from previous week. Actually built from the lead-in in total viewers, wow.
- Raising Hope (Fox) - A new episode did 3.73 million and a 1.6 18-49 rating, which is OK...could be worse.
- Ben & Kate (Fox) - A new episode did only 2.39 million and a 1.1 18-49 rating. One of the biggest renewals of the season was this show.
- New Girl (Fox) - A new episode did a below normal 4.35 million and a 2.2 18-49 rating, as this show slot is filled with comedies on other networks.
- Go On (NBC) - A new episode did 6.09 million and a 2.2 18-49 rating, tying the competing Fox comedy...but this show had a bigger lead-in, so in my book, the Fox comedy did better.
- Happy Endings (ABC) - A new episode did 4.36 million and a 1.3 18-49 rating, which is not good. It needs a compatible lead-in and should go back to Wednesdays, even if it is 10pm.
- The Mindy Project (Fox) - The dud did only 3.17 million and a 1.6 18-49 rating. What a disappointment in the ratings.
- The New Normal (NBC) - A new episode beat the competing comedies with 4.66 million and a 1.8 18-49 rating.
- Don't Trust the B---- in Apartment 23 (ABC) - Only 3.1 million and a 1.1 18-49 rating for a new episode. Only thing that is good about that is that it skews very young.
- The Middle (ABC) - A new episode did a very good 8.79 million and a 2.6 18-49 rating. The Heck family is just so relateable.
- Whitney (NBC) - The season premiere was not sampled with just 4.22 million and a 1.4 18-49 rating. Still trying to figure out why this show was brought back.
- The Neighbors (ABC) - Week eight of this new series did 6.82 million and a 1.9 18-49 rating, down two tenths in 18-49 from previous week. People were blasting it before it even aired, yet it has gotten a full season and has done OK.
- Guys with Kids (NBC) - A new episode did only 3.91 million and a 1.3 18-49 rating, tying its low.
- Modern Family (ABC) - A new episode did 11.89 million and a 4.6 18-49 rating, down two tenths in 18-49 from previous week. After winning earlier in the season, now has become the #2 comedy on TV, but still very strong.
- Suburgatory (ABC) - A new episode did 7.06 million and a 2.4 18-49 rating, back down five tenths from previous week. I still think it will continue to do solid and perhaps do better in the winter. Thinking low 3's.
- The Big Bang Theory (CBS) - Week eight did another monster 17.63 million and a 5.7 18-49 rating, which was up six tenths in 18-49 from previous week. The total viewer number was a series high and the 18-49 rating was a season high. It is skewing older this season, but the #1 comedy now on TV.
- Two and a Half Men (CBS) - A new episode of the veteran comedy did 13.87 million and a 4.1 18-49 rating, up a tenth in 18-49 from previous week and a new season high.
- 30 Rock (NBC) - A new episode got crushed with only 3.34 million and a 1.2 18-49 rating. Not good.
- Up All Night (NBC) - A new episode did only 3.1 million and a 1.3 18-49 rating, which isn't good.
- The Office (NBC) - A new episode at 9 only did 4.16 million and a 2.1 18-49 rating, down three tenths in 18-49 from previous week.
- Parks & Recreation (NBC) - A new airing only did 3.52 million and a 1.7 18-49 rating, but on par in 18-49 from previous week.
- Last Man Standing (ABC) - Week three did a prelim 7.09 million and a prelim 1.4 18-49 rating, down two tenths in 18-49 from previous week's prelim rating. Still solid, but could be better.
- Malibu Country (ABC) - The third episode of this new comedy did a prelim 6.66 million and a prelim 1.3 18-49 rating as well, but down three tenths in 18-49 from previous week's prelim 18-49 rating. Could be better.
- None
Summing it up. The Big Bang Theory, Modern Family, Two and a Half Men, 2 Broke Girls, Mike & Molly, How I Met Your Mother, The Middle were impressive for the week. Everything else was OK (such as The Office, The Neighbors, New Girl, Go On) or just plain old terrible (such as Ben & Kate, Don't Trust the B----, 30 Rock, Up All Night).
