The festivities continue this season, highlighted by Defying Gravity: The Curtain Rises on Wicked a special behind-the-scenes celebration of Universal Pictures’ upcoming feature film, led by superstars Cynthia Erivo, Ariana Grande and the all-star cast of Wicked on Nov. 25.

These lineup additions join annual favorites Christmas in Rockefeller Center, with returning host Kelly Clarkson, The National Dog Show and Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, which reached a record-setting 40 million viewers as the #1 entertainment telecast of 2023. NBC will also return to Miami for an epic New Year’s Eve celebration.

The network’s highly anticipated, 10-part tentpole event series The Americas arrives on Feb. 23 with a special two-hour premiere. Narrated by actor, producer, and writer Tom Hanks with music by two-time Oscar winner Hans Zimmer, the natural history series is five years in the making and filled with extraordinary new discoveries.

Also arriving in 2025 are two new pulse-pounding shows: reality competition series Destination X, which combines a spectacular adventure with immersive gameplay and the ultimate guessing game, and procedural drama The Hunting Party starring Melissa Roxburgh (Manifest), which will see a team of investigators attempt to capture the country’s most dangerous killers. Deal or No Deal Island returns a new set of contestants to the Banker’s private island for season two.

The 2024 People's Choice Country Awards will once again air live from the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville on Thursday, Sept. 26 across NBC and Peacock.

As part of NBC’s rolling development cycle, the following projects have been picked up to pilot with decisions yet to be made on series pickup: Dramas Grosse Pointe Garden Society from Jenna Bans and Bill Krebs (Good Girls) and Suits: L.A. from the world of hit legal drama Suits and original creator Aaron Korsh. With NBC's 52-week scheduling strategy, these pilots if picked up to series could air later in the 2024-25 season or roll over to the 2025-26 season.

The Bear

FX's The Bear, the critically acclaimed, Emmy(R) Award-winning hit comedy series, will premiere its third season on Thursday, June 27 exclusively on Hulu with all 10 episodes available at premiere. Season 3 will also premiere on June 27 exclusively on Disney+ in the UK, Ireland, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Gibraltar, the Balkans, Singapore, Hong Kong and the Philippines, and be available on Disney+ in all other territories at a later date. The first teaser for Season 3 was also released and is available, along with a first-look image.

Season three of FX's The Bear follows Carmen "Carmy" Berzatto (Jeremy Allen White), Sydney Adamu (Ayo Edebiri) and Richard "Richie" Jerimovich (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) as they do what it takes to elevate The Bear, their beef stand turned fine dining establishment, to the highest level, all while doing their best just to stay in business. It's a losing battle every single day in the restaurant business. Carmy pushes himself harder than ever, and demands excellence from his crew, who do their best to match his intensity. Their quest for culinary excellence will propel the crew to new levels and stress the bonds that hold the restaurant together. As the team grows in size, each member will strive to reach a greater level of service within their role. In the restaurant industry, you're never on solid ground, and with that ever-changing landscape comes new challenges and opportunities. Our chefs have learned that every second counts, but this season we'll find out if they have what it takes to make it to tomorrow. The half-hour series also stars Abby Elliott, Lionel Boyce, Liza Colón-Zayas and Matty Matheson, with Oliver Platt and Molly Gordon in recurring roles.

SitcomsOnline Digest: FX Sticking with Binge Drop for The Bear; Peak TV Declared to Be "Over"

Welcome to SitcomsOnline Digest! This week, we're learning about the new season of The Bear, the reboot of Two and a Half Men that will never happen, and more. Let's get going!

HIGHLIGHTS FROM SITCOMSONLINE.COM AND AROUND THE WEB

  • We hear a lot about broadcasters and streamers moving away from doing "binge drops" of entire seasons, but FX is sticking with that for The Bear. (Deadline)
  • It seems that "peak TV" is over, as the number of original series available is now declining. (Deadline)
  • Are you waiting for that reboot of Two and a Half Men? Well, keep waiting because Jon Cryer isn't optimistic about one ever happening. (Hollywood Reporter)
  • It's a story that is going somewhat under the radar in the "death of cable," but those who have been watching cable networks (particularly fringe ones late at night) have likely noticed that advertising has become a lot more PSAs and in-house advertising, and now AMC Networks is reporting a major drop in U.S. ad sales. (Deadline)
  • Rebrands are coming for some of Hallmark's cable networks. (SitcomsOnline)

WEEKLY PLANNER (FEBRUARY 10 - FEBRUARY 16)

  • It's going to be much more than a 3 hour tour for Gilligan's Island on Catchy Comedy this weekend, as they have an entire binge this weekend.
  • Antenna TV is having a Designing Women "Super Belle" marathon on Sunday.
  • The delayed "new fall season" continues on CBS, with season premieres of The Neighborhood and Bob ♥ Abishola on Monday, and Young Sheldon and Ghosts on Thursday.
  • For those who miss Jon Stewart on The Daily Show, he makes his (temporary) return as host of the show on Mondays only, starting on Monday.
