CBC 2026-27 Programming Slate Includes New Original Comedies; Jay Shetty Podcast Heads to Netflix

The Ambassador - Allana Harkin and Samantha Bee

CBC announced its 2026-27 programming slate featuring over 50 original series from Canadian storytellers. From hockey and hospitals to the Wild West and the world of international diplomacy and espionage, CBC's new original Canadian greenlights include the following shows:

Samantha Bee stars as Canada's unorthodox ambassador to Bulgaria in new original comedy The Ambassador from the creative talent behind such shows as Son of a Critch and Call Me Fitz. Olivia Winters (Samantha Bee), a former actor turned savvy yet unorthodox diplomat, and her childhood best friend Andrea Taylor (Allana Harkin), a sharp, policy-driven ChargĂ© d’Affaires, are sent to the hinterland of global diplomacy to uncover new business opportunities for Canada in a rapidly shifting world.

From the creators of Norsemen and producers of Lilyhammer and Letterkenny, Canada/Norway absurdist comedy The Posse follows a clueless and privileged Norwegian in the 1800s who embarks on an unexpected journey to the Wild West.

Created by and starring Kathleen Robertson, medical drama Blessed Sacrament follows three sisters as they work to save lives at the hospital that is their family's legacy.

From the executive producer of Cardinal and Snowpiercer, dramedy The Service is set in the world of Canadian espionage, where national security collides with office politics, prickly egos and decidedly unglamorous tradecraft.

Cold Country stars Sarah Podemski, Chaske Spencer and Michael Greyeyes in a prestige limited series from creators Shane Belcourt and Tasha Hubbard.

The stories behind Canada’s national pastime come to life in coming-of-age drama series Junior, inspired by P.K. Subban’s experience in the high-pressure world of junior hockey; plus docuseries Power Play, offering exclusive access to the stars of the PWHL and Barnburners, following a fierce and funny senior hockey league in Saskatchewan.

FX Picks Up Very Young Frankenstein; Disney+ and Hulu Launching Adventure Time: Side Quests on June 29

Very Young Frankenstien - Zach Galifianakis, Dolly Wells and Spencer House

FX's Very Young Frankenstein, a comedy based on 20th Century Studios' Young Frankenstein, has been picked up to series for FX and Hulu. The series hails from Stefani Robinson, Taika Waititi and Garrett Basch, veterans of numerous FX hits including What We Do in the Shadows, with Academy Award-winner Mel Brooks also serving as an executive producer.

Very Young Frankenstein features Zach Galifianakis, Dolly Wells and Spencer House. Stefani Robinson, who wrote the pilot, and Taika Waititi, who directed the pilot, are executive producers with Brooks, Basch, Michael Gruskoff and Kevin Salter. The series is produced by 20th Television.

Adventure Time: Side Quests

Disney+ and Hulu has announced the June 29 U.S. premiere date of the brand-new animated series Adventure Time: Side Quests, produced by Cartoon Network Studios.

A companion to the beloved original, Emmy(R), Peabody, and Annie Award-winning series Adventure Time, the new series follows young hero Finn and his magical dog best friend Jake as they embark on adventures across the fantastical land of Ooo - partying with cloud people and punching evil in the butt along the way.

Adventure Time captivated audiences with its heartfelt storytelling, playful humour, and richly creative world. Adventure Time: Side Quests builds on the spirit of the early seasons, delivering lighter, self-contained adventures. Designed to introduce a new generation of fans to the land of Ooo, whilst giving existing fans more of what they love, the series brings standalone, silly quests and playful challenges - celebrating the joyful chaos of Finn and Jake's adventures.

Finn the Human is voiced by Sasha Knight and John DiMaggio returns as the voice of Jake the Dog. The series will also reunite fan-favourite characters including Ice King (Tom Kenny), Princess Bubblegum (Hynden Walch), Marceline (Olivia Olson), and BMO (Niki Yang).
