S.W.A.T. Spin-off Set for STARZ; Willy Wonka Reality Series Coming to Netflix

STARZ announced it has acquired S.W.A.T. Exiles, the spin-off of the hit series S.W.A.T., starring and executive-produced by Shemar Moore (Criminal Minds, The Young and the Restless). The new crime drama is set to premiere on Friday, September 25 exclusively on STARZ. New episodes will stream weekly on Fridays only on the STARZ app and across all STARZ streaming and on-demand platforms.

In the new series, Moore reprises his role as Sergeant Daniel "Hondo" Harrelson of the Los Angeles Police Department's Special Weapons and Tactics (S.W.A.T.) Division. After stepping away from leading the 20-David Squad, Hondo is pulled back into action to lead a last-chance experimental S.W.A.T. unit made up of untested and unpredictable young recruits. Bridging a generational divide, Hondo must navigate clashing personalities and turn a squad of outsiders into a team capable of protecting the city and saving the program that made him who he is.

S.W.A.T. Exiles joins STARZ's 2026 growing slate of programming serving underrepresented audiences, including the fifth and final season of the hit crime drama Power Book III: Raising Kanan, airing now; the new British boxing family crime drama Fightland, debuting July 31; and the highly anticipated third season of P-Valley, premiering later this year.

S.W.A.T. Exiles also stars Ronen Rubenstein (9-1-1: Lone Star, Dead of Summer) as Jude, Freddy Miyares (When They See Us, The L Word: Generation Q) as Ethan, Zyra Gorecki (La Brea) as Cassidy, Adain Bradley (Industry, All American) as Malik, and Lucy Barrett (Deep Water, Charmed) as Sammy.

In celebration of the 55th anniversary of the beloved 1971 classic Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory, Netflix announced that Wonka's The Golden Ticket will premiere globally on September 23, inviting audiences into a thrilling new competition based on Roald Dahl's book Charlie & the Chocolate Factory and inspired by one of the most iconic worlds in cinematic history.

Twelve lucky Golden Ticket winners, each with a partner of their choosing, will step through the gates of Wonka's Chocolate Factory and into a world of pure imagination, delicious mischief, and unexpected challenges. Once inside, contestants must navigate a series of Wonka's games, tests, and temptations designed to challenge them physically, mentally, and morally. In this high-stakes social experiment, players will journey through the factory's wondrous and unpredictable landscape, adapting, strategizing, and withstanding the unknown while proving they have the instincts, resilience, and character to thrive in chaos. In the end, only one contestant will have what it takes to earn Wonka's life-changing prize.

Adding to the nostalgia, Wonka's The Golden Ticket will feature the recreated voice of Gene Wilder as Willy Wonka, honoring the legendary performance that has enchanted generations of audiences. The voice of Gene Wilder as Willy Wonka has been recreated with the consent of Mr. Wilder's estate. The series will also welcome back Rusty Goffe, who appeared in the original 1971 film, reprising his role as an Oompa Loompa. Wonka's The Golden Ticket will premiere on Netflix September 23, with a two-part finale on September 30. 9 episodes will air.

Sky and STARZ announced that filming has commenced in London on the second season of the critically acclaimed, darkly comic Sky Original thriller Sweetpea. Ella Purnell (Fallout, Yellowjackets) returns as wallflower-turned-killer Rhiannon Lewis, joined this series by new cast members Tamsin Greig (Riot Women, Friday Night Dinner) and Rish Shah (Overcompensating, Joy).

Killer wallflower Rhiannon Lewis is back in Season 2 of the iconically brazen and darkly comic thriller. Rish Shah joins the cast as Rhiannon's romantic interest Gabriel, alongside Tamsin Greig who stars as AJ's mother, Liv. Taj Atwal (Riot Women, Line of Duty) steps in as Freya, Rhiannon's formidable new boss at the Carnsham Gazette, while Jenny Walser (Heartstopper, Star City) plays an adoring new friend Daisy. Marc Maron Gets Second HBO Comedy Special; Outlander Prequel Renewed for Season 2 Ahead of Series Premiere

Marc Maron's second HBO Original comedy special Marc Maron: Panicked debuts Friday, August 1 at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT on HBO and will be available to stream on HBO Max. In his second HBO special, comedian and podcaster Marc Maron offers up his nuanced perspective on our increasingly uncertain world.

This will be Maron's sixth stand-up special. His past specials have garnered WGA Awards and Critics Choice Awards nominations, as well as critical and audience acclaim. Maron has a peerless reputation in the podcasting world through his landmark podcast WTF with Marc Maron. Launched in 2009, and coming to an end this fall, this interview-style podcast has over 50 million listeners every year with over 1,600 episodes recorded to date.

Maron starred in the Netflix series GLOW, for which he received a Critics Choice Award nomination and SAG Award nomination, as well as the scripted series Maron, which aired for four seasons on IFC. Most recently, Are We Good?, a documentary chronicling his career and journey of overcoming grief and loss, premiered at SXSW and screened at the Tribeca Festival. Currently, Maron stars alongside Owen Wilson in the Apple TV+ golf comedy series Stick.

STARZ announced an early Season Two renewal of its epic romantic saga, Outlander: Blood of My Blood, ahead of its summer premiere. Season One of the highly anticipated prequel series will debut on Friday, August 8, with new episodes available to stream weekly on Fridays on the STARZ app, and all STARZ streaming and on-demand platforms. Production on Season Two of Outlander: Blood of My Blood has begun in Scotland on the same stages where the legacy series Outlander filmed for the past ten years.

A stand-alone prequel series set in the Outlander universe, Outlander: Blood of My Blood follows the romance between Ellen MacKenzie (Harriet Slater) and Brian Fraser (Jamie Roy), and Julia Moriston (Hermione Corfield) and Henry Beauchamp (Jeremy Irvine). From the battlefields of World War I to the rugged Highlands of 18th century Scotland, two fated couples must defy the forces that seek to tear them apart, unfolding in surprising and unforeseen ways.

Peacock's fan-favorite drama series Bel-Air has been renewed for a fourth and final season. STARZ announced that Sweetpea, the new darkly comic coming-of-rage story, will premiere on Thursday, October 10 while unveiling an all-new killer trailer, key art and imagery for the Ella Purnell (Fallout, Yellowjackets) led series. Sweetpea premieres Thursday, October 10 at midnight on the STARZ app. On linear, it will debut on STARZ at 8pm ET/PT in the U.S. and on Friday, October 11 at 10pm ET/PT in Canada. The following week, Sweetpea will move to Fridays, dropping at midnight on the STARZ app and airing on linear at 8pm ET/PT in the U.S. and 10pm ET/PT in Canada, for the remainder of the season. Hallmark Channel's Christmas in July Movie Stunt is getting underway soon. A photographer who's determined to complete her exhibit by capturing a rare photo of a 12-sided snowflake, enlists the help of a childhood friend and they go on a mission they'll never forget when Rebecca Dalton (Christmas by Design) and Marcus Rosner (Love on the Right Course) star in Falling Like Snowflakes, a new, original movie premiering Saturday, June 29 (8 p.m. ET/PT), on Hallmark Channel. Artist and teacher, Teagan Ashley (Dalton), has spent a lifetime pursuing nature's beauty through the camera lens. This Christmas, Teagan is determined to capture a photograph of the elusive 12-sided snowflake. Teagan's success would complete her snowflake series on display at the local art gallery and would award the local community center where she teaches enough funding to make much needed updates to the building. With the reluctant help of Noah Cooper (Rosner), a former boyfriend who returned to their small town to run Teagan's father's snowplow business after his passing, Teagan heads out to the mountain range and directly into the eye of an on-coming storm. NBC Summer 2024 Schedule; Starz Drama Rounds Out All-Star Cast

NBC is the summer home for both the Paris Olympic Games and high-stakes competition with a robust lineup of returning powerhouse favorites, including America's Got Talent, American Ninja Warrior, Password, The Wall and Weakest Link. With all-new programming alongside the Summer Games, NBC looks to extend its summer dominance for 13 consecutive years. Leading into summer, Weakest Link will air new episodes beginning Tuesday, April 2 at 9 p.m. ET/PT and will move to Mondays at 10 starting May 20. American Ninja Warrior will also air two specials, including a women's championship on Sunday, May 12 at 9 p.m. and a couples' championship on Memorial Day Monday, May 27 at 8 p.m.

America's Got Talent takes the stage Tuesday, May 28 followed by new episodes of Password at 10. The competition continues Monday, June 3 with a new season of American Ninja Warrior while The Wall returns to the schedule Monday, July 1 at 10. All programs will stream on Peacock the day following their NBC telecast. The 2024 Olympic Games will take place July 26-Aug.11 in Paris. NBC will provide Olympic fans with at least nine hours of daily coverage from each day's most exciting events. In a Summer Games first, Peacock will stream every sport and event, including all 329 medal events, providing fans with the most-comprehensive Olympic destination in U.S. media history. The 2024 Paris Olympics will be NBC's 19th Olympic games. NBCUniversal owns the U.S. media rights to the Olympic Games through 2032.

STARZ has confirmed that Chrissy Metz (This Is Us, Breakthrough), Jaime Ray Newman (Dopesick, Eastwick), Katie Lowes (Scandal, Inventing Anna), and George Ferrier (One of Us Is Lying, Sweet Tooth) will join as series regulars in its upcoming drama series The Hunting Wives alongside previously announced Malin Åkerman, Brittany Snow, Dermot Mulroney, and Evan Jonigkeit. Production on the thrilling new series has started in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Metz will play "Starr," who is the mother of Abby, a proud working-class woman and staunch Christian. Newman will play "Callie," who is married to the powerful Sheriff Jonny, and a powerhouse in her own right. Lowes will play "Jill," the wife of Reverend Clint, and the queen of the mega church. Ferrier will play "Brad." The Hunting Wives is based on the novel by May Cobb, which tells the story of Sophie and her family's move from the East Coast to deep East Texas, where she succumbs to socialite Margo Bank's irresistible charms - and finds her life consumed by obsession, seduction, and murder.

Brittany Snow to Star Opposite Malin Akerman in Starz Series; Dennis Quaid Joining Paramount+

STARZ has confirmed that Brittany Snow will co-lead its upcoming drama series The Hunting Wives, alongside previously announced co-lead Malin Akerman. STARZ ordered eight episodes of the addictive, twisty thriller, which will begin production this Spring in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Snow will portray Sophie O'Neil in the series based on the novel by May Cobb, which tells the story of Sophie and her family's move from the East Coast to deep East Texas, where she succumbs to socialite Margo Bank's (Malin Akerman) irresistible charms - and finds her life consumed by obsession, seduction, and murder.

Snow can currently be seen in the 2024 Academy Award(R)-nominated live-action short film Red White & Blue. She also debuted her directorial feature debut film Parachute at the 2023 SXSW Film Festival and earned two awards including the Thunderbird Rising Special Award. Parachute is set for a 2024 release. Snow will also be seen in the upcoming feature The Good Half which debuted at the 2023 Tribeca Film Festival.

Paramount+ announced that Emmy Award and two-time Golden Globe-nominated actor Dennis Quaid (Lawmen: Bass Reeves, The Rookie, The Day After Tomorrow) will star in the new original drama series Happy Face. Quaid will play the titular role of the real-life serial killer notoriously called "Happy Face" because of the smiley faces he drew on evidence where he bragged about his crimes. He joins the cast alongside previously announced actress Annaleigh Ashford, who is set to star as his daughter, Melissa. The eight-episode first season will begin production this spring in Vancouver and premiere exclusively on Paramount+ globally in 2025. Happy Face is inspired by the true-life story of Melissa Moore; the critically acclaimed Happy Face podcast from iHeartPodcasts and Moore; and the autobiography Shattered Silence, written by Moore with M. Bridget Cook.

Happy Face for Paramount+ jumps off from Moore's true-life story. Happy Face (Quaid) is an incarcerated serial killer who also is Melissa's (Ashford) once-beloved father. After decades of no contact, he finally finds a way to force himself back into his daughter's life. In a race against the clock, Melissa must find out if an innocent man is going to be put to death for a crime her father committed. Throughout, she discovers the impact her father had on his victims' families and must face a reckoning of her own identity.

The hysterical, spine-chilling trailer and key art teases the repercussions following last season’s nail biting cliffhanger when Pat (Courteney Cox) landed herself in a psychiatric hospital for trying to murder her family with an ax. Pat (Cox) went through extensive Electroshock Therapy, and when she returns home she meets a mysterious woman who introduces her to a host of ancient remedies used to “cure” women of depression, including the apocryphal Smile Masks. Season two explores what’s in store for the Phelps family as they continue to be haunted by ghosts while Pat struggles to live with mental illness among a broken family, battling demons both internally...and externally.

Act Your Age Opens as Biggest Launch in Bounce History; Starz Comedy Blindspotting Returns April 14

Act Your Age becomes the most-watched half-hour series launch in Bounce history. The series premiere episodes of the newest Bounce original series Act Your Age were seen by 2.14 million viewers in their debut telecasts. The first two episodes of Act Your Age premiered back-to-back on Bounce on Saturday, March 4 from 8 to 9 p.m. ET, and their initial airing burst within 24 hours included a special presentation on Bounce's sister network ION. The premieres kicked off the two-part, 16-episode first season of Act Your Age, with the first seven episodes running weekly on Saturday nights throughout the spring and the second half premiering over the summer.

The multiple-camera, half-hour comedy tells the story of three vibrant, successful Washington D.C./Northern Virginia-area women in their 50s who are each at a personal crossroads and who decide the best way forward in life is together. Act Your Age stars Kym Whitley (Curb Your Enthusiasm, Next Friday, Young and Hungry) and Tisha Campbell (Martin, Uncoupled, My Wife and Kids, Dr. Ken) with special guest star Yvette Nicole Brown (Community, The Mayor, Big Shot). ABC's embedded pilot episode of The Good Doctor entitled The Good Lawyer, from Sony Pictures Television and ABC Signature, will air Monday, March 13 and stream the next day on Hulu. In the episode, Dr. Shaun Murphy (Freddie Highmore) seeks legal representation to help him win a case and puts his faith in a promising, young lawyer who has obsessive compulsive disorder. The episode is written by co-showrunners David Shore and Liz Friedman, and directed by Ruben Fleischer. Guest starring is Kennedy McMann (Nancy Drew) as Jodi DeGroot, the brilliant, funny and self-aware lawyer who is relatively new to her prestigious law firm when she takes Shaun's case; Felicity Huffman (Desperate Housewives, American Crime) as Janet Stewart, a highly regarded attorney and partner at the law firm with a fierce intellect and dry wit; and Bethlehem Million as Abbie, Joni's compassionate, practical slightly older sister. Paramount+ Begins Production on Frasier; Blindspotting Premieres 2nd Season in April

Paramount+ announced that the news series Frasier, starring and executive produced by Kelsey Grammer, starts production this week. Shooting in front of a live studio audience in Los Angeles, the new series follows Frasier Crane (Grammer) in the next chapter of his life as he returns to Boston, Mass., with new challenges to face, new relationships to forge and an old dream or two to finally fulfill. Frasier has re-entered the building! The first two episodes of the new series will be directed by legendary director and television creator James Burrows. Over his distinguished career, Burrows has been the recipient of 10 Emmys and five Directors Guild of America Awards, where he also holds the honor of being the most nominated director in the history of television. Burrows is best known for his work as co-creator, executive producer and director of the critically acclaimed series Cheers. His television work also includes hit series Will & Grace, the original series Frasier, Friends, Wings, Night Court, Taxi and Dear John, among others.

In addition to Grammer, the new series stars Jack Cutmore-Scott as Frasier's son, Freddy; Nicholas Lyndhurst as Frasier's old college buddy turned university professor, Alan; Toks Olagundoye as Alan's colleague and head of the university psychology department, Olivia; Jess Salguerio as Freddy’s roommate, Eve; and Anders Keith as Frasier's nephew, David. Frasier comes from writers Chris Harris (How I Met Your Mother) and Joe Cristalli (Life in Pieces), who executive produce with Kelsey Grammer, Tom Russo and Jordan McMahon. Blindspotting centers on Ashley (Jones), who was nipping at the heels of a middle-class life in Oakland until Miles (Casal), her partner of 12 years and father of their son, Sean (Atticus Woodward) was suddenly incarcerated, leaving her to navigate a chaotic life when she is forced to move in with Miles's mother, Rainey (Hunt), and sister, Trish (Jaylen Barron). The series debuted to critical acclaim in 2021 and remains Certified Fresh at 100% on Rotten Tomatoes. It maintains a lighthearted and fun tone while simultaneously tackling complex issues with a comedic and innovative twist, spotlighting the hilarious hijinks Ashley and family get into as she attempts to navigate the crazy chaos of her life in the Bay Area.

Season two picks up nine months after Ashley and Miles's prison nuptials in the season one finale, Ashley is doing backflips to try and raise their son on her own. She is reaching her breaking point and is taking it out on everyone around her. Miles is adjusting to life on the inside and counting down the days before their first family visitation weekend at San Quentin. Rainey is doing her best to make Ashley and Sean feel at home while trying to find a way to stay connected to her son behind bars, but Ashley holds all the cards. Trish's new business is flourishing, but she is dealing with jealousy issues now that her best friend and business partner Jacque (April Absynth) is dating Cuddie (Lance Holloway). Janelle (Candace Nicholas-Lippman) is growing frustrated with Ashley's constant need for support and has begun to miss her life back in Bali. And then of course Earl (Benjamin Turner), fresh out of prison himself for unintentionally breaking his probation, has moved out of Nancy's (Margo Hall) house and is trying to re-establish a relationship with his own family, and his past. Welcome back to the ordeal.

Zoey 101 Movie Zoey 102 Coming Soon to Paramount+; Starz Picks Up Minx

Nickelodeon announced the start of production on Paramount+'s Zoey 102 (working title), a full-length original movie based on characters from the hit live-action Nickelodeon comedy series Zoey 101. The movie follows Pacific Coast Academy alumni as they reunite for a wedding in the present day. Production is underway in North Carolina, with a premiere slated for later this year exclusively on Paramount+. The movie will star Jamie Lynn Spears (Zoey Brooks), Erin Sanders (Quinn Pensky), Sean Flynn (Chase Matthews), Matthew Underwood (Logan Reese), Christopher Massey (Michael Barret), Abby Wilde (Stacey Dillsen) and Jack Salvatore (Mark Del Figgalo).

Zoey 102 (working title) is directed by Nancy Hower (Saturdays, So Help Me Todd, QuickDraw) and Monica Sherer & Madeline Whitby (Betch, Drama Club, All That) wrote the script. Jamie Lynn Spears serves as executive producer along with Alexis Fisher, Hower and Sherer & Whitby. The YA (young adult) movie Zoey 102 (working title) is based on characters from the iconic series Zoey 101, which debuted on Nickelodeon in January 2005, and quickly emerged as one of the top live-action kids' series on all of television. The series follows Zoey Brooks as she enrolls in Pacific Coast Academy, a school that previously only allowed boys to attend. Throughout the series, Zoey and her friends navigate life as teenagers in a boarding school. The original Nickelodeon series was created by Dan Schneider. Zoey 102 (working title) joins Paramount+'s growing lineup of YA content, including the service's hit iCarly series revival, which was renewed for a third season, as well as the recently released film Honor Society, starring Angourie Rice (Spider-Man: No Way Home, Mare of Easttown) and Gaten Matarazzo (Stranger Things). Both projects were also produced by Paramount’s Nickelodeon and Awesomeness Live-Action Studios.

STARZ announced it has picked up season one and two of the critically acclaimed comedy series Minx (formerly aired on HBO Max). STARZ will exclusively premiere the second season. Set in 1970s Los Angeles, Minx centers around Joyce (Ophelia Lovibond), an earnest young feminist who joins forces with a low-rent publisher (Jake Johnson) to create the first erotic magazine for women. The cast also includes Idara Victor, Jessica Lowe, Lennon Parham, Michael Angarano and Oscar Montoya. As previously announced, Elizabeth Perkins joined season two as recurring character Constance. MeTV January 2023 Schedule; Party Down Returns to Starz

MeTV Network will be making some schedule changes starting in January, mainly on weekends. One weekday change is that The Beverly Hillbillies will replace Gomer Pyle at 9PM. The Wild Wild West will replace Maverick on Saturdays at 10AM, while Svengoolie expands to 8 to 10:30PM on Saturdays, followed by Sventoonie. The first 2 1/2 hour Svengoolie will be The Raven (1963). Sunday afternoon Block Parties will be no more, but 10am-6pm will now feature one-hour blocks of Full House, The Flintstones/The Jetsons, The Brady Bunch, Leave it to Beaver, The Beverly Hillbillies, Gilligan's Island, Mama's Family and The Love Boat. STARZ announced the long-awaited return of the hit comedy series Party Down is set to premiere on Friday, February 24 at midnight on the STARZ app, all STARZ streaming and on-demand platforms and internationally on the LIONSGATE+ premium streaming platform in the UK, Brazil and Latin America. On linear, it will debut on STARZ at 9:00 PM ET/PT in the U.S. and Canada. The third season will consist of six new episodes and to celebrate its return, a first look teaser and photo reuniting the Party Down catering crew is available.

Ten years later, most of the Party Down catering team have moved on, including actor/bartender Henry Pollard (Adam Scott, Severance, Parks and Recreation). After a surprise reunion, the gang find themselves once again stoically enduring the procession of random parties and oddball guests all over Los Angeles. Scott reprises his role alongside original cast members Ken Marino (The Other Two, Veronica Mars), Jane Lynch (Glee, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel), Martin Starr (Knocked Up, Silicon Valley), Ryan Hansen (Bless this Mess, Veronica Mars) and Megan Mullally (Will & Grace, The Great North). Previously announced new cast members joining in on the fun include Jennifer Garner (The Adam Project, Yes Day) Tyrel Jackson Williams (Thunder Force, Brockmire) and Zoë Chao (Love Life, The Afterparty). James Marsden (Disenchanted, Dead to Me) is set to recur as a guest star.

Cobra Kai Returns Sept. 9 on Netflix; Marlon Wayans Gets Starz Comedy

Cobra Kai Season 5 premieres globally September 9, only on Netflix. One month until Season 5 -- and Netflix has an extended first look at what's in store. Following the shocking results of the All Valley Tournament, Season 5 finds Terry Silver expanding the Cobra Kai empire and trying to make his "No Mercy" style of karate the only game in town. With Kreese behind bars and Johnny Lawrence setting karate aside to focus on repairing the damage he's caused, Daniel LaRusso must call on an old friend for help.

STARZ announced it is in development on Book of Marlon, a comedy inspired by actor-comedian Marlon Wayans' life and career. Wayans will portray himself in the lead role and will also co-write and executive produce. In the half-hour project, Wayans will play a fictionalized version of himself, exploring his professional life as a comedian and actor, as well as his personal life as he attempts to reconcile being a good person and loving father with being Marlon.
