Hulu revealed that Malcolm in the Middle: Life's Still Unfair will premiere April 10, 2026 on Hulu and Hulu on Disney+ for bundle subscribers in the US and Disney+ internationally. A hilarious first look at the limited, four-episode revival series based on the landmark sitcom was released. Watch it below! After shielding himself and his daughter from his family for over a decade, Malcolm is dragged back into their orbit when Hal and Lois demand his presence at their 40th anniversary party.

The series reunites Bryan Cranston (Hal), Frankie Muniz (Malcolm), Jane Kaczmarek (Lois), Christopher Kennedy Masterson (Francis), Justin Berfield (Reese), and Emy Coligado (Piama). They’re joined by new cast members Keeley Karsten (Leah, Malcolm’s daughter), Vaughan Murrae (Kelly, Malcolm’s youngest sibling), Kiana Madeira (Tristan, Malcolm’s girlfriend), and Caleb Ellsworth-Clark (as Dewey). • It has been a very long time since we've been able to announce a major sitcom coming to DVD for the first time ever, but we've got one this week, as The Drew Carey Show - The Complete Series*, one of the most wanted unreleased series out there, is finally coming to DVD on May 13, but pay close attention to that asterisk because Warner Home Video has already made it clear on the packaging that not only will music be replaced, but entire music intensive episodes will not be included at all. • It's been known for about two years that TBS (thanks to cost cutting measures by David Zaslav) has been trying to do everything they can to get out of their contract to air American Dad!, and with the final episode set to air on TBS on Monday, it was unclear what the future would hold for the series, but now in a surprising twist, it looks like it may be headed back to Fox. (Variety)
• Max removed Looney Tunes from the service this week, but the bigger story may be that Warner Bros. Discovery is actually considering selling off their entire Looney Tunes library. (Yahoo!)
• We have our first look at Tina Fey's new upcoming Netflix series, The Four Seasons. (TVLine)
• The unnamed Stuart-centric spinoff of The Big Bang Theory that is headed to Max now has a name. (Deadline)
• NBC has ordered a new comedy pilot about a Native American community center. (Variety)
• Bobby Moynihan has joined the cast of Tracy Morgan's upcoming NBC pilot. (Deadline)
• Even though the headlines constantly tend to be about how home media and cable TV are dying, the reality is that streaming apps aren't profitable either, and this week we learned that Apple TV+ is losing a billion dollars a year. (Deadline)
• Despite the streaming service losing money, though, a new season of Ted Lasso is coming to Apple TV+. (SitcomsOnline)

Antenna TV February 2025 Schedule; SNL First Two 2025 Episodes Before 50th Anniversary Event

Antenna TV will make some changes to its schedule beginning on Monday, February 3. Mornings and daytime will be remain the same from 8am-3pm, but early morning will have some shifts, with The Drew Carey Show airing at 5am. Burns & Allen and The Jack Benny Program expands to a hour each from 6-8am, while the morning airings of I Dream of Jeannie and Bewitched are dropped. In the afternoons, Maude and Benson are off of weekdays as Alice and Archie Bunker's Place move to 3pm & 4pm. After Family Ties at 5pm, The Drew Carey Show moves from 1am to 6pm. Early primetime remains the same from 7pm-10pm, but Johnny Carson moves out of prime to 11pm, as Becker moves to 10pm. Late night & overnight will have some shifts too from 12am-5am, with Wings, Designing Women, Three's Company from 12-3am and Barney Miller at 4am after The Jeffersons at 3am.

Weekends will have minor changes, but Maude and Benson will be showcased there getting additional slots (Maude Sundays 5-7pm and Benson Saturdays 5-6pm). View the full schedule.

Saturday Night Live will return January 18 with Dave Chappelle making his fourth appearance as host. The Emmy Award winner's latest special, Dave Chappelle: The Dreamer, is nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Comedy Album. GloRilla will make her musical guest debut. The multi-platinum selling artist received two Grammy nominations this year for her hit single "Yeah Glo!" Timothée Chalamet will return for his third time hosting Saturday Night Live and first time as musical guest. Chalamet has received SAG, Golden Globe and Critics Choice Award nominations for his performance as Bob Dylan in A Complete Unknown, now in theaters.

In addition to the broadcast on NBC (11:30 p.m. ET/ 8:30 p.m. PT), Saturday Night Live streams live on Peacock. Stream every season of Saturday Night Live now on Peacock. Saturday Night Live will return mid February to mark its 50th anniversary with a celebratory weekend culminating in a live primetime broadcast, SNL50: The Anniversary Special, on Sunday, February 16.

• The Simpsons is kicking off season 36 with a parody of an HBO hit series. (Deadline)
• Speaking of The Simpsons, some "exclusive to Disney+" specials were recently announced (in addition to some Hulu exclusives for Family Guy), and with Family Guy being relegated to midseason and this being the final year of a two year renewal for both series for Fox, some are wondering if these shows are facing a future that will completely remove Fox from the picture. • The CW has very little scripted American produced entertainment these days, and now, the only one that they do have, The Librarians: The Next Chapter, has been delayed indefinitely. (Entertainment Weekly)
• Jimmy Kimmel sees a future where late night talk shows are no longer a thing, and perhaps a lot sooner than we'd expect. (Deadline)

Rewind TV January 2024 Schedule; Prime Video Announces The Second Best Hospital in the Galaxy Premiere Date

Rewind TV has announced their radical new schedule starting January 1! We mentioned sister network's Antenna TV's January schedule, with Dear John, Mork and Mindy, The Facts of Life and The Drew Carey Show joining their line-up. Now we can announce that Welcome Back, Kotter will be moving from Antenna TV to Rewind TV beginning January 1 airing weekdays 11am-12pm and Saturdays from 11pm-1am, both replacing The Facts of Life, which moves to Antenna TV. Dear John & Mork and Mindy will be airing on both networks, while The Drew Carey Show is moving to Antenna TV like Facts. The other schedule changes on Rewind TV are minor, which includes Sabrina the Teenage Witch now 8-9pm (instead of Drew). View the full Rewind TV January schedule.

Prime Video announced the premiere date and revealed the series key art and first-look images for The Second Best Hospital in the Galaxy (previously announced as The Hospital). All eight episodes of the adult animated sci-fi comedy from Emmy Award winning creator Cirocco Dunlap, and Maya Rudolph, Danielle Renfrew Behrens and Natasha Lyonne's Animal Pictures, will debut on February 23, 2024. Produced by Amazon MGM Studios, with animation by Titmouse Studios, the series, which has a two-season order, will premiere exclusively on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide. Academy Award nominee Stephanie Hsu (Everything Everywhere All at Once) has joined the cast as series regular, Dr. Sleech, alongside previously announced cast members Maya Rudolph, Natasha Lyonne, Keke Palmer, Kieran Culkin, and Sam Smith.

The Second Best Hospital in the Galaxy follows Dr. Sleech and Dr. Klak - aliens, best friends, and intergalactically renowned surgeons - as they tackle anxiety-eating parasites, illegal time loops, and deep-space STIs. In Season One, doctors Sleech and Klak take on a highly dangerous and potentially groundbreaking case and, in doing so, put existence itself in jeopardy. Although considering their dismal personal lives, oblivion might be an improvement.

Antenna TV January 2024 Schedule; Max December Comedy Specials

As we mentioned, Antenna TV starts the new year with four new classic shows added to its programming schedule all shared from sister network Rewind TV, including Dear John, Mork and Mindy, The Facts of Life and The Drew Carey Show beginning in January. Only The Facts of Life and The Drew Carey Show will air wekdays, with Facts weekdays 2-3pm and Drew weekdays 1am-2am (and on Sundays in prime from 7pm-9pm). Dear John will air in the overnight on Sundays (early Monday morning) from 3am-5am, while Mork will air Saturday afternoons from 3-5pm. As far as the rest of the schedule, weekdays seems some minor changes including Maude and Benson airing weekday afternoons and Archie Bunker's Place moving to 6-7pm. Welcome Back, Kotter and One Day at a Time will be leaving the schedule completely.

Saturdays will have a lot of time changes between 8am-3am. The Ropers and Three's a Crowd are back on the line-up airing Saturdays 5-6am and 5-6pm. Sundays will also have a lot of time changes, but from 8am-9pm. View the full schedule.

Max announces programming coming to the platform this December, including the HBO Original comedy special Leo Reich: Literally Who Cares? (12/16), the comedian's first solo stand-up special debuts this December. Following rave reviews at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and an Off-Broadway run, this self-diagnosed important young mind faces the swirling uncertainty of our collective future, asking the big questions, such as: "Is this helping?", "Am I hot?", and "No offense guys but literally what is going on?" Treading the line between hilarious stand-up and humorless performance art, the special blends songs, anecdotes, and anxious non-sequiturs in a valiant attempt to raise awareness about important social and political causes... or something. The special from A24 was taped at EartH in London.

In the Max Original comedy special Gary Ulman: Born on 3rd Base (12/21), comedian, actor, and best-selling author Gary Gulman (HBO's The Great Depresh) offers up his hilarious insights on a range of topics - from growing up poor to pretentious suffixes - all with a generous helping of his inventive humor and absurdism. Reflecting on his eccentric Jewish American family, Gulman chronicles his childhood experiences with free school lunch programs and questionable dental care, as well as incisive swipes at billionaire-ism. With thoughtfulness and empathy, the special sheds light on the performer's unique point-of-view on both lighthearted and serious subjects.

Antenna TV's Bewitched Halloween Marathon; Rewind TV's Sabrina the Teenage Witch-O-Ween Marathon

A flick of the wrist and a sneaky nose twitch...a spell is cast! This Halloween, Antenna TV is conjuring an entire day of Bewitched with the "Witch-O-Ween Bewitched Marathon" starting at 5am Eastern. Antenna TV's "Witch-O-Ween Bewitched Marathon" airs Tuesday, October 31 starting at 5am Eastern. Episodes airing in primetime, 7pm through 10pm, will be Halloween-themed. Those episodes include "The Witches Are Out," "Trick or Treat," "Twitch or Treat," "A Safe and Sane Halloween," "To Trick or Treat" and "The Ghost Who Made a Spectre of Himself." A witch marries a mortal man despite the disapproval of her family who interferes in their lives in Bewitched, the fantasy sitcom starring Elizabeth Montgomery, Dick York, Agnes Moorehead, Erin Murphy, Marion Lorne, and Dick Sargent. Bewitched originally aired for eight seasons between 1964 and 1972 and is part of Antenna TV's regular line-up of shows (weekdays at 7am & 2pm, Saturdays at 2pm & Sundays at 11am).

Pointed hats and talking cats, Rewind TV airs its "Sabrina the Teenage Witch-O-Ween Marathon" on Halloween, starting at 6am Eastern on Tuesday, October 31. Halloween-themed episodes from the series will air in primetime, 7pm through 10pm. Titles include "A Halloween Story," "A River of Candy Corn Runs Through It," "The Halloween Scene," and more. Sabrina the Teenage Witch ran for seven seasons from 1996 through 2003 over two different networks. Melissa Joan Hart stars as Sabrina, a teenager who discovers she has magical powers on her 16th birthday and lives with her aunts, who are also witches, and a talking cat in a fictional Massachusetts town. Additional cast members include Beth Broderick, Caroline Rhea, Nate Richert, and Nick Bakay. The series regularly airs weekdays at 8am, Saturdays at 6am & Sundays at 7pm.

Ho Ho Ho! Christmas time is on its way. And the Clauses have a few announcements too big for Santa's sleigh. Disney+ announced a season two greenlight for the Original series The Santa Clauses, following its first season finale. Disney Legend Tim Allen will executive-produce and continue in the beloved role of Santa/Scott Calvin and Elizabeth Mitchell will reprise her role as Mrs. Claus/Carol from Walt Disney Pictures' blockbuster franchise. In season one of The Santa Clauses Scott Calvin returns after being Santa Claus for nearly thirty years, and he's as jolly as ever. But as Christmas declines in popularity, so does his Santa magic. Scott struggles to keep up with the demands of the job, as well as being there for his family. Upon discovering there is a way to retire from his post, Scott considers stepping down as Santa Claus and finding a worthy successor so that he can become a better father and husband. Season one, which premiered on November 16, is currently streaming on Disney+.

Four new series join the line-up: The Drew Carey Show, Suddenly Susan, NewsRadio and The John Larroquette Show, while My Two Dads is coming soon. Antenna TV's It's a Living also joins the Rewind TV line-up. The new line-up begins on Monday, January 3, 2022. Starting on the weekday schedule, most timeslots will have a change. It's a Living joins the schedule airing 5-6am, followed by Head of the Class, 227, Growing Pains from 6-9am. Who's the Boss? moves to the 9am hour leading into Sabrina, the Teenage Witch and Mork & Mindy from 10am-12pm. The Facts of Life and Diff'rent Strokes remain in their 12pm-2pm time period. 227 now will air at 2pm, replacing Dear John, which will also air on Antenna TV. The after school family block features The Hogan Family, Growing Pains, Who's the Boss? and Family Ties from 3pm-7pm!

In primetime,'90s hits take over with Wings, The Drew Carey Show, Becker and NewsRadio from 7pm-11pm, leading into late fringe block of Designing Women and Murphy Brown from 11pm-1am. More '90s hits take over from there with Caroline in the City at 1am and Suddenly Susan at 2am, followed by encores of Wings and The Drew Carey Show from 3-5am. Weekends will now have a different line-up than weekdays, and will feature two-hour binges of your favorite Rewind TV sitcoms! On Saturdays, The Facts of Life airs 5-7am and 9pm-11pm, Diff'rent Strokes airs 7-9am and 11pm-1am, Murphy Brown airs 9-11am, Designing Women airs 11am-1pm, Caroline in the City airs 1pm-3pm, Suddenly Susan airs 3pm-5pm, Sabrina the Teenage Witch airs 5pm-7pm, Mork & Mindy airs 7pm-9pm, Head of the Class airs 1am-3am and Family Ties airs 3am-5am. Starring and executive produced by comedian and singer Bridget Everett, the seven-episode HBO original comedy series Somebody Somewhere debuts on Sunday, January 16 (10:30-11:00p.m. ET/PT) on HBO and is available to stream on HBO Max. From Mighty Mint, Duplass Brothers Productions, and creators & executive producers Hannah Bos and Paul Thureen (writers on HBO's High Maintenance), the series follows Sam (played by Everett), a true Kansan on the surface, but, beneath it all, struggling to fit the hometown mold. He eventually learns that ignoring problems only makes them grow.

Recurring cast includes Murray Hill (Welcome to Flatch) as Fred Rococo, a University soil scientist by day, Master of Ceremonies in a flashy suit by night, who's been through it all, done the work, and found his stable place of happiness in the land of sunflowers; Jon Hudson Odom (HBO's Lovecraft Country) as Michael, Joel's boyfriend who suddenly is playing second fiddle to Sam; Heidi Johanningmeier (100 Days to Live) as Charity, co-owner of the store Tender Moments with Sam's sister Tricia; Jane Brody (Chicago Fire) as Mary Jo, Sam's mother struggling with alcoholism.

Antenna TV Fall 2021 Schedule; Rewind TV Launch Schedule Beginning September 1

It's time to gear up for the Fall! Antenna TV and its new companion network Rewind TV have announced their Fall schedules. Let's start with Antenna TV. Their new lineup begins on Monday, August 30 and there is one new series joining the lineup, as they have re-acquired Too Close for Comfort. That series will air on weekends, airing 3pm & 3:30pm. Most of the weekday schedule remains intact, however late fringe will get a makeover. Archie Bunker's Place and Maude return to weekdays and will air 12-1am & 1-2am. In the overnight, Family Ties and Mork & Mindy return to weekdays, and will air 3-4am and 4-5am. Mork is returning from hiatus and will also air on Rewind TV. The rest of the ATV changes are on the weekends, with the addition of Too Close for Comfort, along with the return from hiatus The Partridge Family (weekends 11am-12pm) and Mork & Mindy (weekends 6-7pm). A lot of the weekend shows on Antenna TV are moving to Rewind TV (i.e. The Hogan Family, Head of the Class, Diff'rent Strokes, The Facts of Life, etc). Stunts and future programming wise, there is a lot to come. On Labor Day, there will be an Alice marathon. On Halloween there will be a Bewitched marathon, while a Coach binge will air on Thanksgiving weekend. On Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, it's Antenna TV's annual Classic Christmas Collection marathon and Christmas Through the Years stunt. And finally, New Year's Eve will once again feature dance party episodes. More details on each stunt as we get closer to the dates. As we mentioned, AnTENna TV's final two months for their birthday blowout will have 10 episodes of Three's Company on Sept. 10 from 5pm-10pm and Hazel on Oct. 10 from 5pm-10pm. As for future programming, Antenna TV has reacquired Welcome Back, Kotter and it will begin this January, 2022. We hinted two shows returning to Antenna TV, and those are now announced: Too Close for Comfort and Welcome Back, Kotter.

Moving on to new Antenna TV companion network, Rewind TV. They will launch on Wednesday, September 1. The lineup will be seven days a week. No details on if there will be any stunts yet, but there are plenty of series coming to Rewind TV in the next couple years, with most that were already announced to join. The Drew Carey Show launches first this December. The John Larroquette Show, My Two Dads, NewsRadio and Suddenly Susan will join in early 2022, while Just Shoot Me! and Mad About You launch sometime in 2023. Antenna TV's Companion Network, Rewind TV Launching September 1 with 80s and 90s Series; Remembering Sitcom Writer Bernie Kahn

Nexstar Media Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Nexstar Media Group, Inc. (NASDAQ: NXST), announced that it will launch Rewind TV, a digital subchannel offering a slate of classic television sitcom hits from the 1980s and 1990s, on September 1, 2021. We first broke this news a few months ago, but now the official announcement has come with the name of the network and programming info. At its launch, Rewind TV will reach 40 percent of U.S. television households, or nearly 50 million homes, including New York, Los Angeles, and Chicago. Rewind TV will be available on newly designated or recently vacated digital subchannels licensed to Nexstar, full details on station carriage will be coming in the coming months.

Rewind TV will air a bunch of series from the Antenna TV library, but they have also acquired some new sitcoms: The Drew Carey Show, Suddenly Susan, Caroline in the City, and The John Larroquette Show. We already announced Caroline in the City is coming in 2021 and vaguely hinted about Suddenly Susan in 2022 (but now both are coming to Rewind instead of Antenna). We also hinted a return for Mad About You, but no word on that one yet. The Drew Carey Show and The John Larroquette Show are totally new and will start in 2022 with Suddenly Susan. Joining Caroline in the City this September on Rewind are Antenna TV faves 227, Becker, Dear John, Designing Women, Diff'rent Strokes, The Facts of Life, Family Ties, Growing Pains, Head of the Class, The Hogan Family, Mork & Mindy, Murphy Brown, My Two Dads, NewsRadio, Sabrina The Teenage Witch, Who’s the Boss, and Wings all will migrate over to Rewind TV in September. Some of these series are resting a bit right now on Antenna TV, as we mentioned. Nexstar's companion digital network, Antenna TV, will continue to air some of the most popular programming from the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s, including weeknight reruns of The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson and sitcoms such as Three's Company, Bewitched and The Jeffersons. Television writer Bernie Kahn, who worked on The Addams Family, Get Smart, Bewitched and Three's Company, has died. He died on April 21 at the Motion Picture Home in Woodland Hills, California. Mr. Kahn was 90.

Kahn's sitcom writing credits in the 1960s included My Favorite Martian, The Smothers Brothers Show (aka My Brother the Angel), My Mother the Car, The Lucy Show, The Addams Family, Petticoat Junction (2 episodes), Hank, Get Smart, Bewitched (15 episodes from 1967 to 1972), Occasional Wife, The Second Hundred Years, The Ugliest Girl in Town and The Courtship of Eddie's Father.

He co-created the short-lived 1978-1979 NBC sitcom Joe & Valerie with Ronald Rubin. Some of his sitcom writing credits in the 1970s included My World and Welcome to It, Nanny and the Professor, Make Room for Granddaddy, The Good Life, Love, American Style (3 episodes), The Brady Bunch, The Partridge Family, Room 222 (2 episodes), The Paul Lynde Show, Bob & Carol & Ted & Alice, Maude, Chico and the Man, Viva Valdez (2 episodes), The Practice (3 episodes), Tabitha (also an executive story consultant), Three's Company, The Love Boat and Brothers and Sisters.

Kahn received two Writers Guild Award nominations for Episodic Comedy for Get Smart in 1968 and My World and Welcome to It in 1971.

He co-wrote the 1971 Disney television movie The Barefoot Executive with Joseph McEveety, Lila Garrett and Stu Billett. He wrote the 1985 comedy film Basic Training.

Survivors include his wife, Elinor Berger; three daughters; two step-children; and five grandchildren.

Mr. Kahn penned more than 100 episodes of television series during his career, which spanned from the 1960s to the 1990s. We thank him for the laughs and entertainment he brought us. He will be greatly missed.

ION Television May 2009 Adds Reba; Nick at Nite Ratings Climb; Charles in Charge on NBC.com

As I hinted yesterday, ION Television has acquired a sitcom! They will start this sitcom on Monday, April 27! That date will mark the start of the ION Television May 2009 lineup! And the sitcom is...Reba! The WB/The CW 2001-2007 Reba McEntire sitcom joins the ION Television line-up on Monday, April 27 airing weeknights at 7:00pm & 7:30pm. It will also air Monday nights and Friday nights at 8:00pm & 8:30pm. And whenever a movie airs during weekdays in primetime (such as the weekly Thursday slot) and starts at 8:30pm or 9pm, Reba will air leading into it. The sitcom is distributed by 20th Century Fox. Reba also airs on cable on Lifetime TV as well, but ION Television is considered a broadcast station. Reba hasn't aired on broadcast stations since it aired on The CW Daytime. It will be weird because from Tues-Fri, Lifetime also airs Reba in the 7pm hour. That is very strange ION decided to air it at the same time! Did they not realize? The addition of Reba, will cause some shifting. The Drew Carey Show has been removed, as Quantum Leap, M*A*S*H, and Family Feud move back an hour each from 4pm-7pm to make room for Reba at 7:00pm & 7:30pm. ER has also been removed, as Reba will take over Mondays in the 8pm hour as well. Also, after the weekend of May 2-3, starting May 9, RHI Entertainment movies and miniseries will no longer air! We're not sure yet if this is the last of the RHI programming, since the deal expires soon, but the last scheduled programming is May 2-3 with the four-part, eight-hour miniseries Lonesome Dove. Big screen movies will replace RHI the following weekend, May 9-10.
Among the big screen movie premieres this month are American President, Lethal Weapon, Lethal Weapon 3, The Hunt for Red October, Presumed Innocent, The Mask, Angel Eyes, and The Fugitive! The big screen movie encores this month are Octopussy and Rocky IV.

Nick at Nite scored its most-watched quarter ever in first quarter 2009 (Nielsen Media Research 12/29/08-3/29/09) with Adults 18-49 and Men 18-49. Driven by hit family programming like George Lopez, Nick at Nite produced double-digit gains among A18-49 and W18-49 this quarter, and has delivered 16 consecutive months of year-over-year growth in delivery. Nick at Nite closes the first quarter of 2009 as the number-one cable network with W18-49 in total day, and the number-two network with A18-49.
The first quarter for 2009 marked Nick at Nite's most-watched quarter ever with A18-49 and M18-49, averaging a 0.6 rating (690,000 viewers) among A18-49 (up 20%) and a 0.4 rating (254,000 viewers) among M18-49. Nick at Nite ranks as the number-one basic cable network for W18-49 in total day for the first quarter of 2009, averaging a 0.8 rating (436,000 viewers) among W18-49, up 14% over last year. The network is number two in total day with A18-49 in the quarter as well. The network delivered 1.5 million total viewers on average, up 5% in viewers over the same time last year. In primetime, Nick at Nite averaged a 0.7 overall rating and 1.7 million total viewers for the quarter. George Lopez is the network's highest-rated program and has experienced growth of 40% in rating since its launch in September 2007. George Lopez averaged a 0.7 A18-49 rating and 791,000 viewers among A18-49 in the first quarter of 2009. "Whappppah!" "I got this," indeed George!

For fans of Charles in Charge (and Scott Baio), the first season of the popular sitcom (with an amazing theme song) from 1984-85 is now available for enjoyment on NBC.com at any time! You can see the first season in its entirety featuring all 23 episodes. Charles in Charge has been added in the vintage section called "Video Rewind" joining other vintage series such as The A-Team, Simon & Simon, Alfred Hitchcok Hour, and Emergency! Charles in Charge is the first vintage sitcom to be added in the Video Rewind, though! Hopefully we get more Universal-owned sitcoms added to Video Rewind soon such as Amen, Out of this World, Still the Beaver, Harry and the Hendersons, and Bachelor Father. Those would be great because they are not on DVD, while Charles in Charge is. Even though they are on DVD, Gimme a Break and Kate & Allie would be good to have on here, too.

ION Television January 2009 Sees Returns of Drew Carey and Quantum Leap; Nick at Nite Scores in 2008

ION Television will returns a few series this January 2009, while dropping one and reducing another. But first the series that will be dropped will get more plays the first few weeks of January. For the weeks of December 29 and January 5, Hangin' with Mr. Cooper will air in the weekdays at 4-5pm hour replacing M*A*S*H. M*A*S*H will remain in the 6-7pm hour on Saturdays and Sundays. Cooper will also still air in its Mon-Thurs 6-7pm hour the week of December 29 but for the week of January 5, those airings will be moved to 5-6pm, as The Steve Harvey Show moves to the Mon-Thurs 6-7pm hour. Then effective the following week, January 12, both hours of Hangin' with Mr. Cooper will be replaced by the sitcom The Drew Carey Show (weekdays 4-5pm) and sci-fi drama Quantum Leap (Mon-Wed 5pm), as both series return to the line-up, while. Mr. Cooper is leaving the line-up totally for now. Also, on Thursdays starting Jan. 8 from 5-8pm will now be encores of theatrical movies leading into Total Theatre Thursday at 8pm. This is in addition to the encores on Fridays from 5-7pm. So, the regular series airing from 5-8pm will only be Mon-Wed, but 4-5pm (Drew Carey) gets five days a week.
In primetime, NCIS and Boston Legal will still rule, but a few minor changes will occur. Effective week of Jan. 5, NCIS will now air for the full night on Mondays from 8-11pm, while Boston Legal will now air for the full nights on Tuesdays & Wednesdays from 8-11pm. This is a better way to remember when these shows are on, as previously NCIS was on Mondays 9-11pm and Tuesdays 9pm, while Boston Legal was on Mon-Wed 8pm, Tuesday at 10, Wednesdays 9-11pm...confusing, now it is much easier. Of course Thursdays will be the theatrical movie in primetime and Fri-Sun in primetime it is the RHI film.
As for those movies, the theatrical ones will be James Bond themed for the most part in the month as we see classic '80s Bond flicks For Your Eyes Only (1981), Octopussy (1983) and A View to Kill (1985) on Thursdays in primetime, with a Bond week of these three films airing in primetime from Jan. 27-29. On New Year's Day we get the theatrical movie Double Impact (1991) in primetime on Thursday. Thursday and Friday early evening airings (Thursdays 5-8pm, Fridays 5-7p) include those movies above encores, Matchstick Men, Major League: Back To The Minors, and Sphere.
As for RHI Entertainment, some first time airings will air such as To Dance with Olivia, National Lampoon's Attack Of The 5'2" Women, Final Days of Planet Earth, and Human Trafficking. ION will also premiere the world premiere event for the miniseries The Diplomat on Saturday, January 24.

Nick at Nite is total day's number-one basic cable network in 2008 with Adult 18-49 delivery. Marking its most-watched year in four years with A18-49, Nick at Nite placed second overall only to sister-channel Nickelodeon for the year with total viewers. The network posted 11 consecutive months (January - November 2008) of double-digit growth this year with both A18-49 and total viewers.
Nick at Nite is ranked number one with Adults 18-49 for 2008 in total day, according to Nielsen Media Research (12/31/07-12/14/08)--averaging a 0.6 rating (655,000 viewers 18-49) A18-49 (up 20% in rating over last year), and marking its most-watched year in four years with A18-49.
BOTH men and women watch. Among Men 18-49, Nick at Nite is cable's fastest-growing cable entertainment network, averaging a 0.4 rating (245,000 viewers) M18-49 (up 33% in rating) -- its most-watched year ever. Nick at Nite was the number-one ranked network with Women 18-49 for the fifth straight year in total day, averaging a 0.7 rating (410,000 viewers) W18-49 (up 17%).
In prime time, Nick at Nite averaged a 0.7 rating and 1.7 million total viewers--up 40% over last year (Nick at Nite airs 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. ET/PT in primetime with Home Improvement and George Lopez hours).
Driven by family comedies and new original hits such as George Lopez, Family Matters, Home Improvement, and Gym Teacher: The Movie, Nick at Nite's programming highlights include:
* George Lopez (airs regularly at 10 p.m. [all times ET/PT]) averaged a 0.6 rating (716,000 viewers 18-49) with A18-49 (10 p.m.) for the year, up 50% over last year's like time period. The series also encores at 1 a.m. and does even better.
* Family Matters (airs regularly at 11 p.m.) averaged a 0.7 rating (753,000 viewers 18-49) with A18-49 in 2008, up 40%.
* Home Improvement (airs regularly at 9 p.m.) averaged a 0.4 rating (450,000 viewers 18-49) A18-49, up 33% over last year. The series also airs at 12 a.m. and does even better.
* Gym Teacher, a Nickelodeon/Nick at Nite original TV family movie (premiered Friday, Sept. 12, 8 p.m.) was the number-one telecast on broadcast and basic cable television for the night with kids 2-11, earning a 4.6 kids 2-11 rating and 1.6 million kids 2-11 viewers, up 59% over last year. Gym Teacher: The Movie drew 3.0 million total viewers (up 73%).

ABC January 2009 Midseason Plans; The CW Cancels MRC Sundays, Tyra Banks Show Heads to CW Daytime Next Fall

ABC has announced its January 2009 plans. ABC made it official yesterday with the swapping of Private Practice and Life on Mars. Private Practice will move to Thursdays at 10PM following Grey's Anatomy, where Life on Mars was airing, while Life on Mars will move to Wednesdays at 10PM, where currently Dirty Sexy Money was airing. As mentioned already, Lost will take over Wednesdays at 9PM starting January 21, replacing Private Practice. Yes, Life on Mars will indeed follow Lost. Lost's season premiere is two-hours, so Life on Mars will debut on the night on January 28. 7 episodes have aired thus far, with six still remaining in the original order...but now ABC has ordered four more episodes, so a total of 17 will air this season at least. As for Private Practice, it will launch with new episodes on Thursdays on January 8, with repeats of the series in the slot on Dec. 11, 18 and 25 so fans are used to the change by the time is launches with new episodes on Jan. 8. The show will continue to air Wednesdays at 9 through and including Dec. 17. It is still not known what will air on Wednesdays in January prior to Lost coming (Jan. 21). It seems Private Practice will NOT air Wednesday at 9 on Jan. 7 and 14...could they double pump Pushing Daisies or Dirty Sexy Money? We'll let you know, when we know.
The news is not good for Pushing Daisies, Dirty Sexy Money and Eli Stone, as ABC has announced they will not order more episodes than the 13 episodes from the original order. The word cancelation is not used, but all of them will likely not return next season, but...as of now, all 13 episodes of each will air.
Elsewhere, ABC has announced Scrubs will have its eighth season premiere on Tuesday, January 6 with two back-to-back episodes from at 9:00pm & 9:30pm ET/PT, replacing According to Jim. Jim will slide down into the 8:00pm & 8:30pm ET/PT slots, after airing in the 9pm hour starting in December. Scrubs will also air for the full-hour on Tuesday, January 13, opposite the same night of American Idol's two-hour season premiere. Then starting January 20, Scrubs will be followed by the new midseason animated comedy The Goode Family more than likely. ABC has not yet announced plans for Tuesdays at 10 following the comedies and Wednesdays at 8 leading into Lost. One option for either slot is Border Security USA, the new docudrama 11 episode series. My guess is Wednesdays at 8.

The CW has canceled the MRC (Media Rights Capital group) programming block completely and will take over programming of the night effective Sunday, Nov. 30 due to very low ratings. So this coming Sunday (Nov. 23) is the last of MRC on The CW. MRC was programming The CW's Sunday night programming from 5-10pm, with an hour of 4Real at 5pm, Valentine encores at 6pm, In Harm's Way at 7pm, Valentine at 8pm, and Easy Money at 9pm.
Effective Sunday, Nov. 30, The CW will air encores of Everybody Hates Chris and The Game in the 5pm hour. Then in the 6pm hour they will go into the vaults of Warner Bros. and air back-to-back episodes of '90s sitcom The Drew Carey Show. At 7pm The CW will use its CBS Paramount library and air the short-lived drama Jericho, which aired on CBS for two seasons. And finally at 8pm, they will air Movies from MGM. So it looks like The CW is putting good use of their CBS-Warner libraries, hence the name The CW. Will this do any better than the MRC block? It remains to be seen, but if it does...expect more library programming on the night, as The CW plans to air this for the rest of the season before coming up with a new strategy next season.
So what will happen to the shows that were slated to come to the MRC block in midseason? One of them was the Bob Saget multicamera sitcom Surviving Suburbia. That sitcom has taped many episodes and still is scheduled to tape episodes in December and January. They last taped an episode last night before taking next week off for the Thanksgiving holiday. I am not sure what will happen to this sitcom. MRC could shop the sitcom for another network or perhaps The CW would pick it up for another night, possibly Fridays with the other comedies?

Meanwhile, first-run syndicated talk show The Tyra Banks Show from Warner Bros. Television is moving to The CW next fall (Sept. 2009) for its fifth season. How? Well, it will air daily on The CW Daytime back-to-back at 3PM (classic episode) and 4PM (all-new episode)! Which means the talk show will leave syndication and air exclusively on The CW! So this means both Tyra Banks' shows The Tyra Banks Show and America's Next Top Model will air on the same network starting in the fall...one in the daytime and one in primetime.
Currently airing on The CW Daytime is rookie Warner Bros. court show Judge Jeanine Pirro from 3-4pm, now that show will leave CW Daytime next fall and will be moving to first-run syndication! Let the bidding begin. From 4-5pm currently are sitcoms The Wayans Bros. and The Jamie Foxx Show, and they will be off the line-up, obviously. Who knows if the new CW Sunday is successful, maybe these will move to Sundays next fall somewhere between 5-7pm.

I know I promised the network holiday specials dates today, but because of this unusually busy Friday, I will give them to you on Monday...no matter what happens. So stay tuned for that!

The N's Halloween Stunt Includes Classic Nick Series Are You Afraid of the Dark; More Minor ION Changes

The week of October 25-31 is Halloween Week on The N! To celebrate this haunted holiday, The N will air Halloween-themed programming, including an encore presentation of the Degrassi Halloween specials, Curse of Degrassi and Degrassi of the Dead on Friday, October 31. Also, tune into the classic Nickelodeon series Are You Afraid of the Dark? all-week long, along with special Halloween episodes of The N's hit sitcoms, including That '70s Show, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Moesha, Zoey 101, and Sabrina the Teenage Witch. The N will also premiere the movie Roxy Hunter and the Horrific Halloween on Sunday, October 26 at 8am and Friday, October 31 at 12pm. As for Are You Afraid of the Dark?, it will air Saturday, October 25-Sunday, October 26 from 4-6pm and Monday, October 27-Friday, October 31 from 3:00-4:30pm. The show aired on Nickelodeon from 1991-1996, and was revived in 1999-2000, but actually was a Canadian production from CTV. The series revolved around a group of teenagers who referred to themselves as "The Midnight Society". Every week, at a secret location in the woods, one member would tell a scary story to the group. No idea yet if the series will join The N's line-up come November, but as of now, I don't think so. We'll let you know if it does join, though!

ION Television has announced it has replaced the filler airings of The Drew Carey Show with more M*A*S*H. These filler airings are only a few times a month at 10:30PM when the ION Movie runs 2 1/2 hours instead of two hours or three hours, such as this Friday at 10:30PM. So, fans of Drew Carey Show will not see any episodes anymore, unless it is brought back to the regular line-up.
