Presumably because we've hit the point where the major game shows are in primetime lineups as opposed to daytime TV series, game shows are now part of the primetime Emmys. (Variety)

We've had a lot to say about how Discovery is trying to change HBO and Warner Brothers, mostly for the worse, by cancelling anything with a script and replacing it with cheap unscripted Chip and Joanna Gaines style Discovery content, and now John Oliver has called his boss out for it on his own show, describing it as "burning down my network for the insurance money."
