SitcomsOnline Digest: MyNetwork TV Releases Fall Lineup; 70s Danny Thomas Sitcom Coming to DVD
Welcome to SitcomsOnline Digest! Yes, it's that time of the year where there isn't much going on. And this upcoming week will be even slower with a holiday falling midweek. Nonetheless, we're here with some news and highlights, so let's get going!
HIGHLIGHTS FROM SITCOMSONLINE.COM AND AROUND THE WEB
- MyNetwork TV has released their fall lineup, which once again, is basically "reruns of everything that worked for NBC in primetime" (aside from Friday nights, where CSI: Miami will air). (Deadline)
- Streaming services had a nice (roughly) ten year run of providing us with about three places to watch everything we wanted, but we're entering a new reality now where every distributor wants to have their own streaming service. Now, NBC will be taking The Office away from Netflix to put on their own upcoming streaming service. (Vox)
- You can immerse yourself in the world of Seinfeld as The Seinfeld Experience, an event that brings the sets and classic props from the series to the public, comes to New York City in the fall. (Deadline)
- For the past two decades, broadcast TV stations have been required to include a certain number of hours of educational and informational programming on their lineup each week, but that may be changing next month as the FCC considers options to relax that requirement, such as allowing stations to stream such programming online. (Deadline)
- Max Wright, known for his role of the dad on ALF, has died. (Hollywood Reporter)
- We said it might come back, but didn't quite believe it, but One Day at a Time is indeed returning to Pop TV for new episodes in 2020. (SitcomsOnline)
HOME MEDIA HIGHLIGHT
- Who knew this would come to DVD? The Danny Thomas sitcom, The Practice - The Complete Series is coming to DVD from Warner Archive on July 16.
WEEKLY PLANNER (JUNE 29 - JULY 6)
- Decades is taking a somewhat different approach with their weekly binge this weekend and airing a much more recent series, Unforgettable.
- On Thursday, Decades will be airing a Twilight Zone marathon, taking that torch from Syfy (which will NOT be doing that this year).
- The third season of Stranger Things debuts Thursday on Netflix.
- JAG is coming to WGN on Thursday, beginning with a special marathon.

When a promising opportunity to save Woodstone is threatened by a personal conflict, Sam and Jay are forced into a difficult choice. Meanwhile, election day arrives as Flower and Isaac go head‑to‑head to become Ghost Representative. Justin Kirk gest sars as Tad, the Mayor.
Animal Control - "Golden Moose and Wiener Dogs" (Fox, 9:02PM ET/PT)
The team arrives at the Animal Control Officer of the Year awards and party ahead of the ceremony; it's Frank vs. Templeton for the big prize; Shred and Emily's secret romance is finally exposed.
Going Dutch - "NATOcean's Eleven" (Fox, 9:32PM ET/PT)
Gen. Martin launches a takeover of the base and plans to fire its entire staff; Maj. Shah grapples with a midlife crisis.

- John Lithgow (Trial & Error/Twenty Good Years/3rd Rock from the Sun) - John talks about the Broadway play Giant on CBS Mornings sometime between 7-9am.
