Netflix Gets More Original Comedies Including Mike Myers Series; The CW Summer 2019 Schedule

Netflix has ordered a half-hour limited comedy series produced by and starring Mike Myers, in which he plays multiple characters. Quote from Mike Myers: "I love creating characters, and Netflix has given me a fantastic playground to play in." Netflix has ordered 6 half-hour episodes and will be executive produced by Mike Myers, John Lyons, and Jason Weinberg with associate producers Mackenzie Cyr and Justin Capraro-Gentuso. More info to come!
Netflix has also ordered a new movie that will turn into a comedy series immediately after. In the upcoming movie Malibu Rescue, Ricardo Hurtado (School of Rock) will star as Tyler, a handsome know-it-all with a fierce competitive streak and Breanna Yde (School of Rock, The Haunted Hathaways) will star as Gina, a tough and self-assured athlete. The live-action comedy follows a ragtag group of aspiring junior lifeguards from The Valley as they compete against the snobby local kids for bragging rights and the ultimate tower at Malibu beach. Kids and teens alike will root for these heroic and funny underdogs and parents will connect with the positive life lessons for their children. The movie is set to launch May 13th on Netflix. Following the movie, Malibu Rescue: The Series will follow the high spirited and scrappy group of novice junior lifeguards after they have staked their claim on Malibu Beach and the wild adventures that fill their days in the sun. The 8-episode series will launch June 3 on Netflix.
Continuing its push for more year round programming, The CW's Summer 2019 schedule is taking shape, as the network sets initial premiere dates, launching 11 original series throughout the summer, more than ever before, including six all new scripted and unscripted series as well as several returning favorites. This summer, The CW's line-up includes brand new episodes of Whose Line Is It Anyway?, Penn & Teller: Fool Us, Masters of Illusion, plus new seasons of Burden of Truth and The Outpost. The CW will also add six new series to its jam-packed original summer schedule including the previously announced British action drama Bulletproof starring Noel Clarke (Star Trek: Into Darkness) and Ashley Walters (Top Boy); the talent-variety showcase The Big Stage; comedy game show Hypnotize Me hosted by Taye Diggs (All American); investigative docu-series Mysteries Decoded; intergalactic action-adventure series Pandora created by Mark A.
