Light TV, A New Classic TV and Movies Network Launches; Adam Carolla Gets Spike TV Series

There's a new digital multicast network in the game. It is called Light TV and has launched in a few markets already like New York and Los Angeles. It will debut in some other markets, such as in Chicago next month on channel 32.2, the over-the-air digital subchannel of WFLD-TV/FOX 32. Light TV's programming consists of "wholesome family and faith-based entertainment," along with movies and television shows from the MGM library. The network is the creation of super-producer Mark Burnett, who also is the President of MGM Television and Digital, and his wife, actress Roma Downey, who also is the President of LightWorkers Media, a faith-based division of MGM. Burnett, Downey and MGM are partnering with Fox Television to have the new network air on sub-channels of over a dozen Fox-owned stations nationwide, as well as on sub-channels of many Fox-affiliated stations. Light TV will debut in top markets, including New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia, Dallas, Houston, San Francisco, Washington, D.C., Atlanta, Orlando, Phoenix, Minneapolis and Charlotte, N.C.

Among the television series that air on Light TV include Highway to Heaven, Heartland, Touched by an Angel (which starred Downey), Little House On The Prairie, and Are You Smarter than a 5th Grader? MGM movies that will be aired include All Dogs Go To Heaven, The Black Stallion, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Lilies of the Field, The Nutcracker, Fame, Hoosiers, Red River, Little Man Tate, Pink Panther, Rocky and Mr. Mom. On Tuesday, March 14 at 10:00 PM, ET, Spike will debut Adam Carolla and Friends Build Stuff Live which will feature the renowned television, radio and internet personality taking on building projects with celebrity friends in need of his carpentry expertise. The interactive LIVE talk show will include Carolla's comedic take on recent headlines and topical pop culture stories while showcasing his master carpentry skills as he lends advice to his guests as well as his viewers via social media. Late night host Jimmy Kimmel will be the special guest on the series premiere. Below please find a promo explaining more about the LIVE show, as well as a signature field piece segment, "Mr. Hardware," where Carolla ambushes people at hardware stores to poke fun at their home improvement projects. This is one of a variety of field pieces that will be featured throughout this LIVE series. 10 episodes have been ordered to air Tuesdays at 10 on Spike.
