2011-12 Week 11 TV Ratings (first four nights, Mon-Thu):

Households: N/A
Total Viewers: N/A
Adults 18-49: N/A

Week 11 (Nov. 28-Dec. 4) Analysis: Week 11 is one of the slowest weeks of the year, but there were still some new episodes and specials. The final first four night network averages were not available yet, but we can project CBS is on top in HH/viewers, while Fox has the edge in 18-49. For second place, it is the other way around, Fox second in HH/viewers and CBS second in 18-49. ABC and NBC are neck-and-neck, but looks like ABC has the edge. When the week is over with, I think Fox could win the week in all categories as the NFL overrun is with then tonight. CBS should be second in all categories this week. While, NBC should ABC for third specially with the NFL game tonight. As for last week, week 10, CBS won the week in all categories, followed by ABC in second. NBC nipped by Fox for third in all categories.

The first Monday of post-November sweep had CBS on top with repeats. Starting with ABC, How the Grinch Stole Christmas started it off with a solid 7.67 million and a 2.5 18-49 rating, up from last season. At 8:30pm, the new classic Shrek the Halls followed with a solid 7.7 million and a 2.6 18-49 rating. Nice showing! At 9pm week two of game show You Deserve It did only 4.36 million and only a 1.4 18-49 rating, down three tenths from the previous week. It was a much better episode and they should have aired this one first. At 10pm, a repeat of Castle did 5.53 million and a 1.3 18-49 rating. For CBS, How I Met Your Mother started it off with 7.95 million and a 3.0 18-49 rating for first place, and it was a repeat. A repeat of 2 Broke Girls followed with an even better 9.13 million and a 3.3 18-49 rating. While a big hit, I don't get why since there are new comedies that are better than this. At 9pm, a repeat of Two and a Half Men, with new star Ashton Kutcher, did 9.73 million and a 3.1 18-49 rating. A repeat of Mike & Molly followed and did 8.52 million and a 2.6 18-49 rating, solid but the only sort of disappointing number in the block. A repeat of Hawaii Five-0 was next doing 7.92 million and a 2.0 18-49 rating. Fox started with the expensive Terra Nova and it did 7.19 million and a 2.2 18-49 rating, up a tenth from previous week's series low. Not too good and I don't think it will return next season. And at 9pm, a new House posted 7.41 million and a 2.6 18-49 rating, also up a tenth from previous week. NBC followed with the two-hour The Sing-Off finale doing 5.98 million and a 1.6 18-49 rating, only up two tenths from previous week. Christmas special is tomorrow night. At 10pm, NBC aired a new episode of Rock Center with Brian Williams and it did an embarrassing 4.35 million and a 1.1 18-49 rating, but up some from previous week's series low. The CW was new with Gossip Girl doing 1.32 million and a 0.6 18-49 rating, down a tenth week-to-week. At 9pm Hart of Dixie did 1.9 million and a 0.9 18-49 rating each, up two tenths from previous week. Good sign for the latter, but the former is just tired.

On Tuesday, CBS took the honors with a great showing from two specials. CBS had the preempted NCIS with the holiday classic Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer and did 12.64 million and a 4.0 18-49 rating, up from last season. Then NCIS: Los Angeles was preempted for a repeat of NCIS that did 13.37 million and 2.8 18-49 rating, nice showing. And at 10pm, Unforgettable was preempted for the annual special Victoria's Secret Fashion Show that did 10.39 million and a big 4.6 18-49 rating, best total viewer showing since it started on ABC in 2001 and best 18-49 rating ever. ABC started with new comedy Last Man Standing with Tim Allen leading the night off doing 10.32 million and a 2.4 18-49 rating, up a million from the previous week but down some in 18-49. Solid and it will be new for the next two weeks still, too, including the Christmas episode this week. Get on board! Week seven of Man Up! was next and it did 6.61 million and a 1.7 18-49 rating, down some from previous week. Then at 9pm, ABC aired a one-hour repeat of the season premiere of The Middle and did 4.65 million and a 1.4 18-49 rating. Body of Proof was next at 10pm and was all-new doing a solid 9.49 million and a 1.8 18-49 rating, on par with its average for the season despite no Dancing lead-in this week. It's new this week, too! Fox aired an all-new Glee and did 7.9 million and a 3.2 18-49 rating. Then the comedies took the 9pm hour with New Girl doing 7.59 million and a 3.6 18-49 rating, skewing very young. Then at 9:30pm Raising Hope did 5.34 million and a 2.4 18-49 rating. NBC was next with a two-hour The Biggest Loser doing 7.12 million and a 2.4 18-49 rating, up from the previous week with lesser competition. At 10pm, Parenthood did 5.76 million and a 2.1 18-49 rating, up some week-to-week. The CW aired a new 90210 that did 1.52 million and a 0.8 18-49 rating, up some week-to-week. Then the Sarah Michelle Gellar drama Ringer was all-new and did 1.6 million and a 0.6 18-49 rating, the latter is disappointing.

Wednesday it was Fox with the win. First, CBS started the night off with Survivor: South Pacific doing 11.05 million and a 3.1 18-49 rating. Veteran drama Criminal Minds was a repeat and did 7.52 million and 2.1 18-49 rating, better than previous week's repeat. At 10pm, CSI was preempted for the Grammy Nomination Concert doing 5.68 million and a 1.9 18-49 rating. ABC was in repeats with its Laugh On comedy block with The Middle doing 5.93 million and a 1.7 18-49 rating. Suburgatory followed with a repeat of its own at 8:30pm with 5.2 million and a 1.7 18-49 rating. The mega hit Modern Family was next at 9pm and it did 7.16 million and 2.6 18-49 rating for a repeat. Not the 4.5 it did last month, but still solid. At 9:30pm the buzzworthy Happy Endings was a repeat too and did 4.91 million and a 2.1 18-49 rating, second best of the block in 18-49. At 10pm the new drama Revenge had its first repeat in its timeslot doing 4.04 million and 1.2 18-49 rating. Look for a new episode this week following all-new Christmas episodes of the comedies. They could be big. Fox aired The X Factor from 8-9:30pm doing 11.04 million and a 3.7 18-49 rating. The premier of new comedy I Hate My Teenage Daughter followed at 9:30pm and did 6.8 million and a 2.8 18-49 rating. Could have been worse, but better too. It might get crushed this week with new airings opposite it. NBC opened the night preempting Up All Night for the annual Christmas at Rockefeller Center Tree Lighting doing 9.43 million and a 1.9 18-49 rating, down from last season. At 9pm, Harry's Law was new and did 9.88 million but only a 1.3 18-49 rating. and Law & Order: SVU was also new, and did 9.9 million and a 2.2 18-49 rating, could have been. The CW had the special Muppet Christmas Letters to Santa leading the night off with 2.44 million and a 0.9 18-49 rating, one of The CW's best showings of the week. And a repeat of a holiday special did it. Then America's Next Top Model was next at 9pm with 1.91 million and a 0.8 18-49 rating, lower than its lead-in. Wow.

Thursday it was Fox with the win for the second straight night. First, ABC opened the night with the annual classic Santa Claus Is Comin' To Town doing a solid 7.23 million and a 2.2 18-49 rating. At 9pm, Grey's Anatomy was preempted as ABC aired CMA Country Christmas from 9-11pm doing 9.03 million and a 2.1 18-49 rating, better than last year. Private Practice was also preempted. CBS opened with a repeat of The Big Bang Theory at 10.48 million and a 3.0 18-49 rating, down three tenths from previous week. Then, a repeat of Rules of Engagement was next doing 8.0 million and a 2.3 18-49 rating. A repeat of Person of Interest followed with 8.15 million and a 1.6 18-49 rating. A repeat of The Mentalist followed and did 7.99 million and a 1.6 18-49 rating. Fox started with The X Factor doing 10.34 million and a 3.1 18-49 rating. Then at 9pm, a new Bones did 8.91 million and a 2.8 18-49 rating, solid. NBC aired new episodes of its comedies with the finale until spring Community doing 3.74 million and a 1.7 18-49 rating, still not good but up. Parks and Recreation followed with only 3.69 million and a 1.8 18-49 rating. The Office was new at 9pm doing 5.71 and a 2.9 18-49 rating. I seriously think this show will be low-mid 2's in 2012. At 9:30pm Whitney was new with 3.93 million and a 1.9 18-49 rating, not good. NBC's drama bust Prime Suspect was new with only 4.69 million and a 1.3 18-49 rating. The CW's big gun Vampire Diaries and new drama The Secret Circle were repeats that did 1.06 million/0.4 18-49 rating and 850,000 viewers/0.3 18-49 rating.

Now, final numbers for Friday and Saturday are not available, but Fox won Friday thanks to the Pac-12 game which didn't do that much. CBS' dramas were new but down. NBC preempted its dramas for a movie that did terrible.
Saturday numbers had Fox edge out ABC Saturday Night Football with the Big-10 game.

Tonight ABC Sunday is all-new with its normal line-up of AFV, Once Upon a Time, Desperate Housewives, and Pan Am. Look for Once to do great again and big cliffhangers on the other two dramas. NBC will win the night with the NFL with the Saints and Lions. CBS has its normal line-up being all-new of 60 Minutes, Amazing Race, The Good Wife and CSI: Miami. Fox has the animated comedies from 8-10pm following NFL action, with The Cleveland Show at a special time of 9:30pm.

As for the week (week 11), it's should be Fox with the win since it is close and the NFL overrun tonight will make the difference. I'm guessing CBS will be second. ABC should be third across the board but I think NBC could take third in 18-49. As for the coming week (week 12), it's the more holiday specials like the premiere of Prep & Landing 2: Naughty Vs. Nice tomorrow night on ABC and holiday episodes now start as we get a lot of fall finals this week!

Week 11 How the Sitcoms Did

Last Sunday Sitcoms (counts for Week 10 -- Nov. 21-27)

  • The Simpsons (Fox) - A new episode did 5.61 million and a 2.6 18-49 rating, down some from previous week. It only does high when it has an NFL lead-in.
  • The Cleveland Show (Fox) - The second new episode at 7:30pm just did 3.67 million and a 1.7 18-49 rating, off a tenth week-to-week. A repeat was the lead-in at 7pm doing only 1.58 million and a 0.7 18-49 rating, down from previous week.
  • Allen Gregory (Fox) - A new episode did 3.18 million and a 1.5 18-49 rating, down some again from previous week and a series low again. This show will be 7 episodes and out.
  • Family Guy (Fox) - An all-new episode was way below normal again doing 5.5 million and a 2.8 18-49 rating for a season low.
  • American Dad! (Fox) - A new showing did 4.48 million and a 2.2 18-49 rating at 9:30pm, down some week-to-week. Not good.

Monday Sitcoms

  • How I Met Your Mother (CBS) - A repeat did 7.95 million and a 3.0 18-49 rating, wow that is great.
  • 2 Broke Girls (CBS) - A repeat did 9.13 million a 3.3 18-49 rating, which is excellent for its first repeat airing in the time period.
  • Two and a Half Men (CBS) - 9.73 million and a 3.1 18-49 rating is excellent but also lower than the lead-in in 18-49, when has that ever happened to this show?
  • Mike & Molly (CBS) - A repeat did 8.52 million and a 2.6 18-49 rating, which is solid still but lowest of the block. Not bad though!

Tuesday Sitcoms

  • Last Man Standing (ABC) - An all-new episode in the 8pm half-hour did 10.32 million and a 2.4 18-49 rating, up a million from previous week but down some in 18-49. All in all, a great showing for its first airing without Dancing Results anchoring the night at 9pm. Christmas episode this week looks VERY good!
  • Man Up! (ABC) - Week seven of this comedy did 6.61 million and a 1.7 18-49 rating, down some from previous week. It's consistent, but not good enough I think.
  • The Middle (ABC) - A one-hour repeat posted 4.65 million and a 1.4 18-49 rating.
  • New Girl (Fox) - A new episode did 7.59 million and a 3.6 18-49 rating, which is very good and young skewing.
  • Raising Hope (Fox) - A new episode did 5.34 million and a 2.4 18-49 rating, which could be better.

Wednesday Sitcoms
  • The Middle (ABC) - A repeat did 5.93 million and a 1.7 18-49 rating. Decent. Will be new this week for its Christmas episode, along with the rest of the Laugh On ABC Wednesday comedies. Look for big numbers.
  • Suburgatory (ABC) - A repeat did 5.2 million and a 1.7 18-49 rating. Solid.
  • Up All Night (NBC) - preempted.
  • Modern Family (ABC) - A repeat did 7.16 million and a 2.6 18-49 rating, solid stuff for a repeat that isn't multi-camera.
  • Happy Endings (ABC) - A repeat from last season with guest star Damon Wayans did 4.91 million and a 2.1 18-49 rating, for second best of the block. Good repeat showing.
  • I Hate My Teenage Daughter (Fox) - The series premiere following The X Factor did 6.8 million and a 2.8 18-49 rating. A decent start but the future looks bleak. Only airing in December then it won't return 'til Spring.

Thursday Sitcoms

  • The Big Bang Theory (CBS) - A repeat did 10.48 million and a 3.0 18-49 rating, great but down some from previous week's repeat.
  • Rules of Engagement (CBS) - A repeat did 8.0 million and a 2.3 18-49 rating. Decent.
  • Community (NBC) - The finale until spring did 3.74 million and a 1.7 18-49 rating. No return date yet, but NBC says spring.
  • Parks and Recreation (NBC) - A new episode did 3.69 million and a 1.8 18-49 rating. Really needs to do better.
  • The Office (NBC) - A new showing did 5.71 million and a 2.9 18-49 rating, a far cry from its former self
  • Whitney (NBC) - A new episode did only 3.93 million and a 1.9 18-49 rating. Please put this show out of its misery. Ratings aren't good but the show is even worse.

Friday Sitcoms

  • None.

Saturday Sitcoms

  • The Big Bang Theory (CBS) - Due to the SEC Championship game postgame bleeding into prime, numbers for this are inflated and won't be known until the finals.
  • How I Met Your Mother (CBS) - Due to the SEC Championship game postgame bleeding into prime, numbers for this are inflated and won't be known until the finals.

Airing tonight (Sunday) are Fox's animated comedies from 8-10pm, including new ones from 8-10, with The Cleveland Show at a special time of 9:30pm.

Summing it up. New Girl, 2 Broke Girls, The Big Bang Theory, Two and a Half Men, How I Met Your Mother, Modern Family, Mike & Molly, Rules of Engagement, Last Man Standing, Happy Endings were impressive for the week. Everything else was OK (such as I Hate My Teenage Daughter, Raising Hope) or just plain old terrible (such as Week 10 Allen Gregory, Whitney).
