Happy New Year, Start of Another Decade; ABC Family Looks Back at 2009
As we welcome in 2010, let's take a look back at ABC Family in 2009! The other day we gave you some of TBS's highlights of 2009, so today we will do the same for ABC Family. 2009 ranked as ABC Family's most-watched year on record in primetime in Total Viewers (1.4 million), Adults 18-34 (329,000), Adults 18-49 (613,000) and Viewers 12-34 (545,000), as well as across key Women 18-34 (220,000), Women 18-49 (394,000) and Females 12-34 (374,000). In fact, 2009 marked the net's 6th consecutive year of growth in Total Viewers, Adults 18-34 and Viewers 12-34, and the 4th straight year in Women 18-34 and Women 18-49.
Impressively, for the first time in the net's history, ABC Family ranked among the Top 10 cable networks in Prime in Total Viewers (No. 10), Adults 18-34 (No. 8) and Adults 18-49 (No. 8), and among the Top 5 in Women 18-49 (No. 5). In Women 18-34, the network ranked a high No. 4 for the second straight year.
ABC Family's No. 1 original series of all time, critically-acclaimed The Secret Life of the American Teenager, stood as cable's No. 1 series in Viewers 12-34 (2.6 million/2.8 rating), Females 12-34 (2.1 million/4.7 rating), Teens 12-17 (1.3 million/5.2 rating) and Female Teens (1.1 million/9.4 rating), and cable's No. 1 scripted series in Women 18-34 (1.0 million/3.0 rating).
Hit freshman series Make It or Break It was cable's No. 2 scripted series in 2009 in Females 12-34 (1.2 million/2.6 rating) and the No. 2 Female Teens (625,000/5.2 rating).
In original movie wise, Another Cinderella Story (1/18/09, 8:00-10:00 p.m.) was cable's No. 1 ad-supported movie in Total Viewers (5.7 million).
In Total Day, 2009 also qualified as ABC Family's most-watched year on record in Adults 18-34 (195,000), Women 18-34 (139,000), Adults 18-49 (330,000) and Women 18-49 (227,000).
Looks like ABC Family will probably even grow more in 2010!
