6th Annual TV Land Awards Full Honorees; She's Got The Look Premiere Scores for TV Land
Honorees included Mike Myers getting the Legacy of Laughter Award presented by Justin Timberlake; Garry Marshall receiving the Legend Award presented by Penny Marshall, Cindy Williams, Henry Winkler, Jack Klugman and Dick Van Dyke; the cast of Roseanne getting the Innovator Award presented by the lovely Teri Hatcher; Samuel L. Jackson presented Lionel Richie with the Icon Award -- who took the stage to perform a medley of his greatest hits; the cast of The Golden Girls received the Pop Culture Award from funnyman Steve Carrell; Jonathan Winters took home the Pioneer Award presented to him by the legendary Robin Williams; and The Office took this year's Future Classic Award, presented to them by Ed Asner and William Shatner.
The show started with host Vanessa Williams singing the much-loved song from Peter Pan entitled "I'm Flying," with classic TV stars Barry Williams (Brady Bunch), Bernie Kopell (The Love Boat), Gary Coleman (Diff'rent Strokes), Jerry Mathers (Leave it to Beaver), Jimmie "JJ" Walker (Good Times), Dawn Wells (Gilligan's Island), Alison Arngrim (Little House on the Prairie), Ron Palilo (Welcome Back, Kotter) and William Katt (The Greatest American Hero) flying above the crowd as their beloved characters.
Comedian Kathy Griffin presented the annual much-anticipated TV Land parody entitled "Paparazzi" in which some of television's favorite TV stars spoofed an array of popular entertainment news shows. Penny Marshall & Cindy Williams (Laverne & Shirley), Florence Henderson & Maureen McCormick (Brady Bunch), Joan Rivers, Joyce DeWitt (Three's Company), Lindsay Wagner (Bionic Woman), Phyllis Diller, Sherman Hemsley (The Jeffersons, Amen) and Vicki Lawrence (The Carol Burnett Show, Mama's Family) star. Access Hollywood's Billy Bush and Nancy O'Dell, Showbiz Today's AJ Hammer and Brooke Anderson and celebrity blogger Perez Hilton round out the cast of this hilarious farce. Some of the past parodies on TV Land included hilarious looks on Michael Jackson, Desperate Housewives, Sex and the City, and Grey's Anatomy.
Sticking with TV Land, last Wednesdays premiere of TV Land's newest original reality series, She's Got The Look, scored impressive numbers for its season premiere on Wednesday, June 4, scoring double digit gains across the network's target demo, Adults 25-54, and among the network's core audience, Adults 40-54.
The six-episode series, a collaboration with Wilhelmina Models, Inc., sets out to discover a sophisticated, beautiful and confident woman 35 or older destined to become the next great supermodel. The winner will receive a lucrative modeling contract with Wilhelmina Models, Inc. and a photo spread for SELF Magazine.
The original series posted a 0.4 rating (427,000 viewers) among A25-54, up 21% in rating and 23% in viewers over last year with the audience composed of half women and half men. The network averaged 669,000 total viewers, up 15% over a year ago, with a median age of 44. Among the network's core A40-54 audience, the premiere earned a 0.5 rating (278,000 viewers), an increase of 55% in rating and 58% in viewers over last year.
