TV One Thanksgiving Showcase; Mid-Season Sitcom 'Crumbs' Promos Begin on Sunday
If you are wondering what TV One has planned on the actual Thanksgiving Day then I will tell you right now. They will be airing the 1978 movie The Whiz all day (that's 10 a.m. to 4 a.m.!). The movie stars Diana Ross, Michael Jackson, Nipsey Russell, Richard Pryor, Lena Horne, and Mabel King.
Everyone I think is ready for the mid-season ABC sitcom Crumbs. I have already seen the pilot and it was the best sitcom pilot out there this past development season. I wondered why ABC held it up for mid-season, but maybe now I know why as they can use it as a secret weapon. Who knows maybe it will be a big hit as last year's mid-season secret weapon--Grey's Anatomy. If you have not heard about this show, it stars Fred Savage (The Wonder Years), Jane Curtin (Kate & Allie), and William Devane (Knots Landing). The cast is an all-star one and so is the hilarious plot.
Family is enough to drive anyone a little crazy. Children keep secrets from their parents so they won't upset them, dads leave for other women and moms try to run over dads with the car. Actually, that was the point when the Crumb family knew Mom was crazy.
Estranged brothers Mitch and Jack Crumb reunite in their small hometown to deal with their mother Suzanne, who is being released from a psychiatric country club and has yet to discover that her ex-husband is about to have a baby with his new girlfriend. They have issues… major issues. Central to everything is the dynamic between these two brothers; Mitch is the prodigal son who is returning home after a failed Hollywood career, and Jack is the older brother who has stayed in the confines of their small New England town to run the family business. Together for the first time as adults, this family will have to stick by one another despite their combustible relationships.
So why the heck am I posting this now? Well, because ABC will start promoting this sitcom this Sunday! And in another scoop, as of now ABC is going to put it in the line-up starting in January! No idea on what night & time just yet. Tune in to Desperate Housewives this Sunday at 9/8 central and you'll see the first promo for this sitcom. If you miss it, don't worry there will be plenty of chances this week, such as during Monday Night Football and The American Music Awards.
Other mid-season promos debuting this Sunday: Dancing with the Stars 2 (during Extreme Makeover: Home Edition and again during Desperate Housewives), The Bachelor 8 (during Desperate Housewives), and the sitcom Emily's Reasons Why Not (during Desperate Housewives and again during Grey's Anatomy).
