Fox Lines Up 2 Dramas for Midseason; The White Lotus Scores in Early Viewing

Fox has announced the premiere of midseason dramas. Alert premieres Sunday, January 8, 2023 immediately after NFL on Fox. Alert is a procedural drama about the Philadelphia Police Department's Missing Person's Unit (MPU). Each episode features a heart-pounding, life-or-death search for a missing person that runs alongside police officers Jason Grant (Scott Caan, Hawaii 5-0) and his ex-wife Nikki Batista's (Dania Ramirez, Devious Maids) series-long quest to find out the truth about their long-lost son. Alert is co-produced by Sony Pictures Television and Fox Entertainment. John Eisendrath (The Blacklist) serves as showrunner and executive producer. Jamie Foxx, Datari Turner, J.R. Orci, Adam Kane and Michael Offer are also executive producers. The series stars Scott Caan, Dania Ramirez, Adeola Role (The Blacklist), Ryan Broussard (Only Murders in the Building) and Graham Verchere (Stargirl). No word just yet where Alert will air regularly.
Meanwhile, provocative crime drama Accused premiere two weeks later on Sunday, January 22 at 9pm, then will move to Tuesdays at 9pm. From Fox Entertainment and Sony Pictures Television, each episode is a fast-paced provocative thriller, exploring a different crime, in a different city, with an entirely original cast, including Rachel Bilson, Academy Award Nominee Abigail Breslin, Emmy Winner Michael Chiklis, Whitney Cummings, Jack Davenport, Emmy Winner Margo Martindale, Emmy Nominee Molly Parker, Emmy Winner Rhea Perlman, Wendell Pierce, Emmy Nominee Malcolm-Jamal Warner and more.
The season 2 premiere of The White Lotus tallied just over 1.5 million viewers in the U.S. on Sunday night across HBO Max and linear telecasts, according to a combination of Nielsen and first party data. Total cross-platform viewing was up 63% vs. the season 1 premiere night (944K) and up 35% compared to the average debut night audience for each episode across season 1 (1.1M). Season 1 went on to average 9.3M viewers per episode across platforms in the U.S. The series saw a resurgence of viewing in the weeks leading up to the season 2 premiere, ranking among the top 5 series on HBO Max last week. The first installment, which premiered July 2021, received 20 Emmy(R) nominations across 13 categories and 10 wins, the most wins of any program this year, including Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series. More viewers will watch the premiere throughout this week and of course in coming weeks, as TV viewing has changed over the last few years.
