Rowan Atkinson's Netflix Comedy Series Lands June 24; CBS's Summer of Ghosts
Man 🙋🏻♂️ Bee 🐝 Dog 🐶 = Disaster 🔥. Rowan Atkinson stars in Man Vs Bee, a comedy series that will get the whole family buzzing. Lands June 24 only on Netflix. 10 episodes will air. In the comedy, a man finds himself at war with a bee while housesitting a luxurious mansion. Who will win, and what irreparable damage will be done in the process? 🐝 See the trailer below!
CBS presents Summer of Ghosts, an immersive campaign honoring the "recently departed" first season of the CBS Original series Ghosts and its upcoming sophomore season this fall. Throughout the summer, multi-city, in-person events and unique Web3 metaverse experiences will celebrate the spirited title characters and living leads of the new comedy. Each character will be honored with a distinctive "to die for" activation, bringing their individual worlds and stories into the here and now with a variety of in-person events, stunts and experiences. Fans will explore the lives (and afterlives) of the spirits, including Flower, a hippie from the '60s; Hetty, a Victorian society woman and wife of a 19th-century robber baron; Alberta, the saucy Prohibition-era lounge singer; Isaac, the 18th-century forgotten Founding Father; Sasappis, a sarcastic native from the 16th century; Pete, the upbeat '80s scout troop leader; Thorfinn, a Viking warrior from 1009; and Trevor, the slick, pantsless-for-eternity '90s finance bro. Also to be feted are Samantha and Jay, the present-day married "livings" who recently inherited Woodstone Mansion, the country estate inhabited by the spirits whom Samantha has the ability to see and hear. Adding to the intrigue, each activation will feature a limited-edition collectible character NFT, as well as gift cards for a month-long subscription to Paramount+ where viewers can watch Ghosts' first season on demand.
As of mid-summer, fans from anywhere can also bridge dimensions between the living and the dead by virtually accessing the haunted grounds of Woodstone Mansion in a unique and easy-to-navigate Web3 Ghosts experience. The metaverse will feature an additional release of the 10 character-specific exclusive collectible NFTs. Collecting all 10 will enable fans to unlock distinct experiences in the metaverse mansion, which will showcase the series' set in remarkable detail. The interactive experience will feature games and surprises as people explore the assorted rooms and grounds. The campaign sprang to life in a moment of surprise and delight during Paramount's Upfront Presentation at Carnegie Hall, as members of the series' cast performed a comical musical number in character, now available on more than 150 music streaming services worldwide (including Spotify, Apple Music and Pandora) as "Ghosts: The Musical."
Next up for the activations in honor of each character are:
· Flower's Flowers - A flowery Los Angeles experience in June honoring the '60s bohemian spirit, Flower.
· Hetty-quette: a Book of Etiquette - A launch party for Hetty's book of social "Hetty-quette," even if her advice is a little dated!
· The Alberta Haynes Museum - The storied Alberta Haynes Museum, coming to life with an exclusive pop-up experience in Alberta's hometown of Altoona, Pa. For fans who can't make the trip in person, a tour on the Ghosts social channels will showcase the artifacts, memorabilia and Ghosts "Easter eggs."
· Sass's Ghost Stories - An evening storytelling performance in New York City to celebrate Sasappis' storytelling roots.
· Pete's Friend Zone - Pete's Pinecone Trooper-themed "Friend Zone" in San Diego, which will have a campsite feel, complete with A-frame-inspired tents for shade, activation stations and campsite snacks.
· Thorfinn's Viking Feast - A Viking lunch for Thorfinn, providing select fans with a Nordic-inspired dining experience at sea.
· Isaac's Victory - Isaac finally one-ups Alexander Hamilton when he's featured on an (wait for it ... ) $11 bill!
· Trevor's Hamptons Party - The exclusive "Forever Trevor" '90s-themed Hamptons bash to give Trevor the party of his dreams.
· Sam & Jay's Woodstone Premiere - The world premiere screening event to kick off season two.
Fans can follow @GhostsCBS on Twitter, Instagram and TikTok for upcoming specifics on the campaign, and use #SummerOfGhosts to join in the fun. Season two of the critically acclaimed #1 new comedy/series and breakout hit Ghosts will premiere in its new time slot at 8:30 PM on Thursdays on CBS this fall, with repeats airing throughout the summer. The entire first season is available to stream on demand on Paramount+. Ghosts stars Rose McIver (Samantha), Utkarsh Ambudkar (Jay), Brandon Scott Jones (Isaac), Richie Moriarty (Pete), Danielle Pinnock (Alberta), Asher Grodman (Trevor), Román Zaragoza (Sasappis), Sheila Carrasco (Flower), Rebecca Wisocky (Hetty) and Devan Chandler Long (Thorfinn). Black Comedy Revolution Doc to Air on A&E; MTV Movie & TV Awards to Air on Multiple Nets
A&E Network will premiere the new two-part documentary event Right to Offend: The Black Comedy Revolution exploring the progression of Black comedy and the comedians who have used pointed humor to expose, challenge and ridicule society's injustices and to articulate the Black experience in America. Executive produced by Kevin Hart's HARTBEAT and TIME Studios, the documentary explores Black comedy through a unique lens, tracing the evolution and social awakening of the courageous comedians who dared to push against the constraints of their time and spoke truth to power. Right to Offend: The Black Comedy Revolution is co-directed by Mario Diaz and Jessica Sherif and premieres Wednesday, June 29 at 9pm ET/PT and Thursday, June 30 at 9pm ET/PT on A&E. Right to Offend: The Black Comedy Revolution will also be available on demand and to stream on the A&E app and aetv.com.
The documentary traces the history of Black comedy and its under-appreciated legacy of driving social change across the 20th and 21st centuries. From Redd Foxx, Moms Mabley and Dick Gregory during the civil rights movement, Richard Pryor in the 70s, Eddie Murphy and Whoopi Goldberg in the 80s, to the power of In Living Color and Def Comedy Jam in the 90s, Chris Rock, Dave Chappelle in the 2000s and groundbreaking modern-day comedians and creators like Key & Peele, Issa Rae, Amber Ruffin and Tiffany Haddish. Across four hours, Right to Offend explores the rare position these artists and many more hold in our society as both entertainers and truth tellers that speak to audiences in ways no other performers can.
Featuring interviews with some of the greatest comedy minds of all time (including Jimmie Walker, Marsha Warfield and many more) as well as a rich collection of archival material, the two-part event reveals the personal stories and tribulations faced by many Black performers in attaining greater acceptance and opening the doors for a true representation of the Black experience. The documentary also traces how each generation of comedians built upon the foundations created by their predecessors to help evolve and push the boundaries of comedy as a means for social change and fought for a greater definition and understanding of what it means to be Black in America.

Abbott Elementary Star to Host ABC Game Show; Amazon Orders The Hospital
Comedian Janelle James (Abbott Elementary) will host the new, physical comedy competition series, The Final Straw, premiering Sunday, July 10 from 9:00-10:00 p.m. EDT on ABC. NFL superstar Peyton Manning's Omaha Productions also joins the project as executive producer. The stakes are high as four teams of colorful contestants face off to combat tremendous tipping towers. Each life-sized themed tower is chock full of various objects ranging from basketballs to small kitchen appliances as contestants try to successfully pull items from the stack without tipping it over in order to earn prizes. If the tower falls, the team is eliminated; and the last team standing will compete against The Mega Stack, an epic battle of physics where the odds are literally stacked against them, in hopes of winning a life-changing grand prize of up to $250,000 with the option to walk away or risk it all. James has written and appeared on Showtime's Black Monday, Apple TV+'s Central Park, and is currently a series regular on the ABC sitcom Abbott Elementary as Principal Ava.
Amazon Studios announced that it has ordered two seasons of The Hospital, a new sci-fi animated comedy created by Cirocco Dunlap and executive produced by Maya Rudolph, Natasha Lyonne, and Danielle Renfrew Behrens through Animal Pictures. Shauna McGarry will also executive produce. Keke Palmer, Greta Lee, Kieran Culkin, Sam Smith, Rudolph and Lyonne will voice aliens in the series with more voice cast to be announced. The Hospital will premiere exclusively on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide. The Hospital is a completely original concept that follows Sleech and Klak - aliens, best friends, and intergalactically renowned surgeons - as they tackle anxiety-eating parasites, illegal time loops, and deep-space STIs. Risking their careers to take on a remarkable case, they put existence itself in jeopardy. Although considering their dismal personal lives, oblivion might be an improvement.
Keke Palmer will voice-star as Dr. Klak, a brilliant, multi-eyed surgeon who spends her down time feeding her sentient plants, obsessively reviewing past failures, and watching hit show My Lover, My Clone with her best friend Dr. Sleech. Greta Lee will voice-star as Dr. Sleech, a reckless, cocky surgeon whose main saving graces are her genius, her well-oiled lizard tail, and her unconditional love for her best friend Dr. Klak. Natasha Lyonne will voice-star as Nurse Tup, a playful nihilist with chameleon flesh who thrives in the chaos of the Hospital. Maya Rudolph will voice-star as Dr. Vlam, a robot intern who has been alive for at least 20,000 years. Kieran Culkin will voice-star as Dr. Plowp, a surgeon, an empath, and an adult experiencing puberty. And Sam Smith will voice-star as Dr. Azel, a galactically-renowned surgeon with ambiguous morals and six well-manicured feet.

Seth MacFarlane's Peacock Comedy Series Ted Rounds Out Cast; Twisted Metal Comedy Series in the Works
Peacock announces Alanna Ubach to round out series regulars in Seth MacFarlane's highly anticipated comedy series, Ted, the highly-anticipated live-action comedy series based on the blockbuster film franchise. Ubach (Euphoria, The Flight Attendant, See Dad Run) to star alongside previously announced series regulars Giorgia Whigham, Max Burkholder and Scott Grimes in UCP and MRC Television Series. MacFarlane is set to reprise iconic voice role and direct, write, co-showrun and executive produce all episodes alongside co-showrunners, writers and executive producers Paul Corrigan & Brad Walsh (Modern Family).
Ubach will play the role of Susan Bennett. Susan is kind, selfless, and almost pathologically sweet when it comes to caring for her family, and sees the world through naive, rose-colored glasses. MacFarlane (The Orville, Ted & Ted 2, Family Guy) is set to reprise the voice of the iconic and loveable foul-mouthed teddy bear Ted, and will also direct, write, co-showrun and executive produce all episodes alongside co-showrunners, writers and executive producers Paul Corrigan and Brad Walsh (Modern Family). Peacock also previously announced series regular stars Giorgia Whigham (The Punisher, 13 Reasons Why), Max Burkholder (Parenthood) and Scott Grimes (Oppenheimer, The Orville). The series comes from MacFarlane's Fuzzy Door and will be executive produced by President Erica Huggins. Alana Kleiman and Jason Clark will also serve as executive producers. Clark is returning after producing the iconic Ted film franchise. The upcoming series comes from UCP, a division of Universal Studio Group, and MRC Television. About the new series, Ted: It's 1993 and Ted the bear's moment of fame has passed, leaving him living with his best friend, 16-year-old John Bennett, who lives in a working-class Boston home with his parents and cousin. Ted may not be the best influence on John, but when it comes right down to it, Ted's willing to go out on a limb to help his friend and his family.
Ted is the second series order since MacFarlane and Fuzzy Door signed a multi-year television deal with UCP in 2020. Also coming to Peacock this year from Fuzzy Door is the disaster science series The End is Nye, hosted by Emmy Award-winner and renowned science educator Bill Nye. Fuzzy Door will produce alongside Universal Television Alternative Studio and UCP, divisions of Universal Studio Group. Next up for the company is The Orville: New Horizons, the highly anticipated third season of the Emmy-nominated space adventure series, premiering on Hulu on June 2.
Peacock also announced that Neve Campbell (Scream 5, Clouds, Part of Five) will recur as guest star in the new action-comedy series Twisted Metal, a live-action adaptation of the global video game phenomenon. Anthony Mackie (The Falcon and the Winter Soldier) is also starring and executive producing. Stephanie Beatriz (Encanto, Brooklyn Nine-Nine) to co-star opposite Mackie, alongside Thomas Haden Church (Wings, Sideways, Divorce, Spider-Man: No Way Home). Will Arnett and Marc Forman from Electric Avenue (Murderville) secured the rights to the material and helped put the project together alongside Asad Qizilbash and Carter Swan from PlayStation Productions, are also set to executive produce.
Michael Jonathan Smith (Cobra Kai) will serve as showrunner, writer and executive producer for the live-action comedy from Sony Pictures Television, PlayStation Productions and Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group. Kitao Sakurai (The Eric Andre Show, Bad Trip) will executive produce and direct multiple episodes of the series. Twisted Metal, a half-hour live-action TV series based on the classic PlayStation game series, is a high-octane action comedy, based on an original take by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick (Deadpool, Zombieland) about a motor-mouthed outsider offered a chance at a better life, but only if he can successfully deliver a mysterious package across a post-apocalyptic wasteland. With the help of a trigger-happy car thief, he'll face savage marauders driving vehicles of destruction and other dangers of the open road, including a deranged clown who drives an all too familiar ice cream truck.

HBO Renews Barry for Season 4; Apple TV+ Comedy Trying Returns in July; Remembering Maggie Peterson of The Andy Griffith Show
HBO announced that the critically acclaimed dark comedy series Barry has been renewed for a fourth season. Season four will begin production in Los Angeles in June, with Bill Hader directing all eight episodes. Hader and Alec Berg are the series co-creators and executive producers. The Emmy®-winning dark comedy series Barry, starring Emmy®-winner Bill Hader, returned for its eight-episode third season on April 24 with episodes airing weekly on HBO and HBO Max. The season three finale airs on June 12.
Season 3 logline: Desperate to leave his violent past behind in favor of his newfound passion, Barry (Bill Hader) is attempting to untangle himself from the world of contract killing and fully immerse himself in acting. But getting out is messy. While Barry has eliminated many of the external factors that pushed him towards violence, he soon discovers they weren't the only forces at play. What is it about his own psyche that led him to become a killer in the first place? Season three finds Barry and the other characters trying to make the right choice. Season 3 cast: Season three Emmy®-nominated and winning cast regulars include: Stephen Root, Sarah Goldberg, Anthony Carrigan, Emmy®-winner Henry Winkler and Sarah Burns. Returning recurring cast includes D'Arcy Carden and Michael Irby.
Apple TV+ unveiled a first-look and the premiere date for the third season of the beloved comedy series Trying, which will make its global debut exclusively with the first episode on Friday, July 22, 2022 with new episodes every Friday through September 9, 2022. After a dramatic end to season two, the eight episode third season picks up with Nikki (BAFTA nominee Esther Smith) and Jason (SAG Award-nominee Rafe Spall) waking up as new parents to two children they are still getting to know. Now they just have to keep hold of them, which proves to be trickier than they initially thought. Thrown straight into the parental deep-end, Nikki and Jason's relationships with each other and with their nearest and dearest are tested as they desperately try to navigate the ups and downs of parenting - while hanging onto their kids, and their sanity. In addition to Smith and Spall, the season three cast includes Eden Togwell (as 'Princess'), Mickey McAnulty (as 'Tyler'), Oliver Chris (as 'Freddy'), Sian Brooke (as 'Karen'), Darren Boyd (as 'Scott') and Robyn Cara (as 'Jen').
Actress and singer Maggie Peterson (sometimes credited as Maggie Mancuso), who was best known for playing Charlene Darling on The Andy Griffith Show, has died. She died in her sleep, surrounded by family and friends, on May 15 in Colorado. She had been in declining health following the death of her husband Gus. Ms. Peterson was 81.
Peterson guest starred as Charlene Darling on five episodes of the CBS sitcom The Andy Griffith Show from 1963 to 1966. The Darlings are a fictional family of musically inclined hillbillies. Charlene Darling is the only daughter of Briscoe Darling (Denver Pyle). She is an attractive but naïve young, blonde woman who often caused trouble for Sheriff Andy Taylor (Andy Griffith) and his family with her flirtatious behavior and her belief in mountain lore. The Darling Boys were played by The Dillards, an American bluegrass band. She performed on the songs "Salty Dog Blues," "Shady Grove," and "There Is a Time." Peterson reprised her role of Charlene Darling in the 1986 NBC TV movie Return to Mayberry.
She returned in the final season of The Andy Griffith Show in 1968 to play the character of Doris, the dating interest to Sam Jones (Ken Berry), in the episode "A Girl for Goober."
Peterson starred as Susie, a waitress in the coffee shop at the Park Central Hotel, on eight episodes of the second season (1964) of the 1963-1965 NBC sitcom The Bill Dana Show. The plot follows the daily lifestyle of Latin American José Jiménez (Bill Dana), as a bellhop in a New York City hotel. The series was a spin-off from Make Room for Daddy, which showed the character of José as an elevator operator before he became a bellhop. The cast included Jonathan Harris, Gary Crosby (1963-1964) and Don Adams.
Some of her sitcom guest appearances included Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C. (as Eileen Carson in "The Blind Date"), The Queen and I (1969), Love, American Style (1970), Green Acres (2 episodes), Mayberry R.F.D. (as Edna, a cafe waitress) and The Odd Couple (2 episodes).
She starred as the innocent Rose Ellen Wilkerson in the 1969 film The Love God?, starring next to Don Knotts. She played Mrs. Toback in the 1969 film Angel in My Pocket, which starred Andy Griffith.
She lived in Las Vegas where she worked for the Nevada Film Commission as a location scout for film and television. She was married to her husband Gus Mancuso, a jazz musician, for more than 40 years until his death on December 9, 2021.
Ms. Peterson was delightful as Charlene Darling on The Andy Griffith Show. She was a frequent guest at the Mayberry Days Festival in Mount Airy, North Carolina. She appeared as a guest of honor at the Mayberry In The Midwest Festival in Danville, Indiana, in May 2016 and May 2019. We thank her for the laughs and entertainment that she brought us on television. She will be deeply missed.

Returning Comedy: American Auto, Grand Crew
Returning Drama: The Blacklist
Returning Reality/Unscripted: That's My Jam, The Wall
NOTES: NBC builds on strong fall schedule with the addition of new series Quantum Leap and Lopez vs. Lopez to its winning lineup.

In November, the laughs begin with George Lopez’s family comedy Lopez vs. Lopez at 8 p.m., teeing up the third season of Dwayne Johnson bio-series Young Rock at 8:30 p.m.
The drama continues midseason as James Spader and The Blacklist return for the 10th season of the beloved stalwart series, along with second seasons for a pair of comedy hits, American Auto and Grand Crew, which reached more than 24 million and 17 million viewers, respectively, across U.S. viewing platforms this year. Also joining the lineup is the debut of Night Court, a sequel to the beloved legal sitcom with John Larroquette reprising his role as D.A. Dan Fielding and starring Melissa Rauch as Judge Abby Stone.
The world of unscripted competition is red hot for midseason and summer with a pair of competition imports: new game show The Wheel, hosted by comedian Michael McIntyre and based on a smash hit UK format, features contestants aiming to win big with the help of celebrity guests playing on a giant spinning wheel, and Dutch format Million Dollar Island, which will feature 100 contestants who attempt to forge friendships and build alliances as they plot to stay on a remote desert island for up to 50 days and compete to win their share of the ultimate $1 million prize.
Returning competition favorites are also on the menu as Jimmy Fallon hosts celebrities for more musical fun and games in the second season of That’s My Jam, and viewer favorite The Wall returns to the party. Dick Wolf also enters the unscripted space with the docuseries “LA Fire and Rescue,” which follows the real-life heroes of the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
In 2021, NBC’s holiday programming reached more than 94 million viewers on the strength of an unrivaled lineup featuring dynamic live event specials and returning classics. The festivities continue this season as country music icon Dolly Parton headlines the film Dolly Parton’s Mountain Magic Christmas. NBC’s New Year’s Eve celebration is also back as Miley Cyrus continues the newest holiday tradition with the return of Miley’s New Year’s Eve Party, joining annual favorites Christmas in Rockefeller Center, The National Dog Show and Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, which stood as the #1 entertainment program of 2021 in the key 18-49 demo.
As part of NBC’s rolling pilot process, the following projects have been picked up to pilot with decisions yet to be made on series greenlights: Blank Slate, Found, Irrational, Unbroken and an untitled drama from Mike Daniels. With NBC’s 52-week scheduling strategy, these pilots – if picked up to series – could be possibilities for later in the 2022-23 season or could roll over to the 2023-24 season.
