• Despite being a hit, Prime Video has decided to not renew Ride or Die for a second season, but Paramount is not giving up and shopping it to other outlets (perhaps Paramount+?). (Deadline)
• There is still some uncertainty on what is going to happen with the Warner Bros. and Paramount merger, but it's entirely possible that it could be a done deal in the next few weeks, or even days, and it could also involve Comedy Central and BET being sold to another entity. (Variety)
• If you're looking for Ken Jenkins to return to Scrubs in his role as Dr. Kelso, even just for one episode, don't get your hopes up too high. (Deadline)
• For many who watch The Price is Right and remembers how elaborate the series used to be, particularly as it climbed in popularity throughout the Bob Barker years, the cheapening of the show has been evident and recent years, and for the newest season the budget cuts are impossible to ignore. Paramount Adds The Big Bang Theory to Nick at Nite and MTV Lineups; The White Lotus Season 3 in February

Paramount announced today that The Big Bang Theory will join the Nick at Nite and MTV lineups, bringing holiday cheer through the new year as the 10-time Emmy® Award-winning series returns to Paramount for the first time since its run on CBS.

Both brands will kick off their debut with marathon stunts tailored to their audiences, as follows:

Nickelodeon:

• Beginning Tuesday, December 24, Nickelodeon’s nighttime programming block Nick at Nite will host a two-day stunt featuring holiday-themed episodes including the beloved “Leonard Nimoy’s Napkin.”
• On December 27, The Big Bang Theory will debut with Season 4 on Nick at Nite and air daily from 12-2 a.m. (ET/PT). All 12 seasons of The Big Bang Theory are joining Nick at Nite’s stellar late-night roster of popular family comedies, including its spinoff prequel Young Sheldon and Emmy® Award-winning sitcoms Friends and Modern Family.

MTV:

• Starting Wednesday, January 1, MTV will air “MTV’s New Year with a Bang,” an all-day marathon of Season 3.
• Beginning Saturday, January 4, fans can tune in every Saturday and Sunday and watch all of their favorite episodes across all 12 Seasons alongside Friends.

The eight-episode third season of HBO's Emmy®-winning original series The White Lotus, from Mike White, debuts Sunday, February 16 (9:00-10:00 p.m. ET/PT) on HBO and will be available to stream on Max. The social satire is set at an exclusive Thai resort and follows the exploits of various guests and employees over the span of a week. Starring Leslie Bibb, Carrie Coon, Walton Goggins, Sarah Catherine Hook, Jason Isaacs, Lalisa Manobal, Michelle Monaghan, Sam Nivola, Lek Patravadi, Parker Posey, Natasha Rothwell, Patrick Schwarzenegger, Tayme Thapthimthong, Aimee Lou Wood. • At this point, we'll just call it a rumor that may or may not happen since this history of Paramount reportedly being close to a deal on being sold has been a mess for the past year, but it looks like Skydance Media may actually be on the verge of closing a deal with Paramount (or maybe not). • Last week, Paramount decided to remove all videos (including full episodes and clips from The Daily Show) from the websites of all of their cable networks, as well as delete decades worth of MTV News archives, but now, at least the MTV News archives have been restored by the Internet Archive. • Outer Range has been cancelled by Amazon. (Hollywood Reporter)

• We mentioned that there were rumors of this a few months ago, but MeTV Toons, a spinoff of MeTV dedicated to classic cartoons, is coming next month, and if no local channel in your area decides to pick it up, it appears it will also be available on ad-supported streaming services. (Variety)
• The Paramount cable networks have temporarily avoided being pulled by Spectrum this week as their agreement ended while negotiations continue, but it still isn't looking great as Spectrum's goal seems to be to remove anything that isn't a top rated cable network. (Deadline)
• Meanwhile, Paramount is still for sale, and a joint partnership between Sony and Apollo Management is the most recent offer, but some analysts feel that a sale may never actually occur. (Variety)
• Night Court has secured a third season at NBC, and while it may not be quite a full season, it will come close. (Hollywood Reporter)
• This is one we didn't see coming as it was widely expected that the current season would be the last, but ABC is reportedly renewing The Conners for one last (very short) season. (TVLine)
• For the first time since he was fired by the network 19 years ago, Dan Rather is set to return to CBS News as the subject of an interview about his career at CBS News. (The Hollywood Reporter)

SitcomsOnline Digest: Another Major Media Merger in the Works?; Digital Network Dabl Shifts Focus to Sitcoms

Welcome to SitcomsOnline Digest! We're heading into Christmas week, but surprisingly, we have lots of news, including another possible media merger (that we imagine will face a lot of scrutiny), news about a programming format change for a digital broadcast network, and more. Let's get going!

• It seems that there are talks to merge Warner Bros and Paramount, though it is likely to face a lot of scrutiny. (Deadline)
• In related news (and probably something that would be necessary if the two media companies were to merge), it looks like BET (and related assets, including VH1) may be up for sale again, with Byron Allen interested in purchasing. (Variety)
• If you liked Run the Burbs when it aired on The CW, you won't be losing the chance to see it, as Hulu has now picked it up in an unrelated deal. (Deadline)
• The reboots never stop, and this week, there are talks of one for The X-Files. (Deadline)
• The network has remained quiet and refused to comment on it, but a major schedule change is coming to digital TV network Dabl (will it even still be called Dabl?) next week, and it includes nothing but episodes of mostly old UPN (and a tiny bit of The WB/The CW) sitcoms, including The Parkers, Half & Half, Moesha, Girlfriends, One on One, Sister, Sister, and The Game.
