Remembering Hal Williams of Sanford and Son, 227 and More; The CW Renews Sullivan's Crossing

Actor Hal Williams, who had a recurring role as Officer "Smitty" Smith in Sanford and Son and starred as Lester Jenkins in 227, has died. He died from natural causes at his home in Rancho Mirage, California, on July 15. Mr. Williams was 91.

Williams had a recurring role as Officer "Smitty" Smith in 20 episodes of the 1972-1977 NBC sitcom Sanford and Son. LAPD Officer "Smitty" Smith was partners with Officer "Swanny" Swanhauser (Noam Pitlik, 6 episodes in 1972) and Officer Howard "Hoppy" Hopkins (Howard Platt). Smitty usually served as the straight man to comedic moments of the serious, straight-laced, solemn and humorless Swanny and the somewhat inept, but still by the book and capable officer Hoppy. Williams reprised his role in five episodes of the 1980-1981 NBC sitcom Sanford.

He starred as Lester DeMott in the 1975-1976 ABC sitcom On the Rocks. The series, which was based on the British series Porridge, centers on the inmates of Alamesa Minimum Security prison. The main setting is usually the cell block containing Lester DeMott, Hector Fuentes (Jose Perez), and Nicky Palik (Bobby Sandler). It also starred Rick Hurst, Mel Stewart, Tom Poston, Pat Cranshaw, Jack Grimes, and Logan Ramsey.

Williams starred as Sergeant Ted Ross in the 1981-1983 CBS sitcom Private Benjamin. The series is about a spoiled young socialite named Pvt. Judith "Judy" Benjamin (Lorna Patterson) adjusting to life in the army. He had earlier starred as Drill Sergeant L. C. Ross in the 1980 comedy film Private Benjamin, which was directed by Howard Zieff and starred Goldie Hawn. The series also starred Eileen Brennan, Ann Ryerson (1981-1982), Joan Roberts (1981), Joyce Little (1981), Lisa Raggio, Lucy Webb (1981-1982), Francesco Roberts (1981), Damita Jo Freeman, Robert Mandan (1982-1983), Joel Brooks (1982), Wendie Jo Sperber (1982-1983), and Polly Holliday (3 episodes in 1982-1983).

He starred as family patriarch Lester Jenkins in the 1985-1990 NBC sitcom 227. The series, created by C.J. Banks and Bill Boulware, stars Marla Gibbs as Mary Jenkins, a sharp-tongued, inner-city resident gossip and housewife. Her husband Lester Jenkins is the proprietor of a construction company. The series also starred Alaina Reed Hall, Jackée Harry, Regina King, Helen Martin, Kia Goodwin (1985-1986), Curtis Baldwin, Countess Vaughn (1988-1989), Toukie A. Smith (1989-1990), Paul Winfield (1989-1990), Barry Sobel (1989-1990), and Stoney Jackson (1989-1990). Williams, Gibbs and Harry appeared in the 227: The Reboot sketch on A Black Lady Sketch Show in 2019.

Williams starred as Rudy Bryan in the 1993-1994 Fox sitcom The Sinbad Show. The series follows the life of David Bryan (Sinbad), a carefree bachelor who works as a video game designer, who becomes a single parent when he adopts two orphaned children, Zana (Erin Davis) and L.J. Beckley (Willie Norwood), who face several issues which they work through together. Rudy and Louise Bryan (Nancy Wilson) are David's parents. The series also starred T. K. Carter and Salma Hayek (3 episodes as Gloria Contreras).

He had a recurring role as Harley Foster in seven episodes of The Waltons from 1973 to 1980. Some of his other television guest appearances included Dan August, The Magician, Cannon (3 episodes), Police Woman, Harry O (3 episodes), Gunsmoke, Caribe, Kung Fu (2 episodes in 1973 and 1975), S.W.A.T. (1975), Police Story, Most Wanted, Quincy, M.E. (1977), The White Shadow, Knots Landing (2 episodes), T.J. Hooker, The Dukes of Hazzard, Hill Street Blues, Magnum, P.I. (2 episodes in 1988), L.A. Law, Tales from the Crypt, Moonlight, and Matlock (2 episodes in 2024-2025).
Mr. Williams was a talented and versatile actor. He was funny and memorable as Smitty and Lester Jenkins. We thank him for the laughs and entertainment that he brought us during his career. He will be greatly missed.

We also remember actor Scott Bryce. He had recurring roles as Rick Bonner in The Facts of Life and as Will Forrest in Murphy Brown. He died in New Haven, Connecticut, on July 12 after a battle with esophageal and stomach cancer. Mr. Bryce was 68.

Bryce had a recurring role as Rick Bonner in four episodes of the ninth and final season of the NBC sitcom The Facts of Life in 1988. Rick Bonner is a free-wheeling musician who meets Jo Polniaczek (Nancy McKeon) at a community center and later marries her.

He had a recurring role as Will Forrest in six episodes of the CBS sitcom Murphy Brown from 1990 to 1992. Louisiana lawyer and writer Will Forrest marries his high school classmate Corky Sherwood (Faith Ford). She humorously and cluelessly amends her on-air surname to "Corky Sherwood-Forest".
Some of his other sitcom guest appearances included The Golden Girls, Who's the Boss?, Walter & Emily, Dear John, Hope & Gloria, Chicago Sons (2 episodes), Boston Common, Spin City, Sex and the City, Reba, Whoopi (2 episodes), and 30 Rock (2 episodes).
Bryce starred as Mike McQueen, Brooke's (Leslie Bibb) father who becomes engaged to Sam's (Carly Pope) mother, in the 1999-2001 The WB teen comedy-drama Popular. He starred as Scott Sterling in the short-lived 1992 CBS prime time soap opera 2000 Malibu Road.

Bryce was perhaps best known for his portrayal of Craig Montgomery on the CBS soap opera As the World Turns from 1982–1991, 1993–1994, and 2007–2008. He appeared as Dr. Crosby in six episodes of ABC's One Life to Live in 2006.
Mr. Bryce was twice nominated for Daytime Emmys in 1986 and 1987 for his work on As the World Turns. We thank him for his work on television. He will be sorely missed.

Actor Josh Grisetti starred as Louis Plunk in The Knights of Prosperity. He died by suicide on July 10. Mr. Grisetti was only 44.

Grisetti's first television starring role was as Louis Plunk in the the short-lived 2007 ABC sitcom The Knights of Prosperity. The series follows a group of misfits – the titular Knights – who attempt to rob various celebrities, the first being Mick Jagger (Jagger was also credited as one of the executive producers, along with the creators and David Letterman). It also starred Donal Logue, Sofia Vergara, Lenny Venito, Maz Jobrani, and Kevin Michael Richardson.
He had a recurring role as Ralph, a staff writer at The Gordon Ford Show, in eight episodes of the final season of the Amazon Prime Video period comedy-drama The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. He guest starred in a 2012 episode of Nurse Jackie and a 2021 episode of The Good Fight.
Mr. Grisetti was known for his work on Broadway and Off-Broadway. He won one of two Clarence Derwent Awards for "Most Promising Male Actor" in 2015 for his work in It Shoulda Been You. We thank him for his acting work. He will be greatly missed.

Hong Kong actress Wai Ching Ho had a recurring role as Le-Wei in Awkwafina Is Nora from Queens. She died on July 10 of complications from a stroke. She was 82.

She guest starred as Big Auntie in two episodes of the ABC sitcom Fresh Off the Boat in 2016 and 2018. She had a recurring role as Le-Wei in five episodes of the 2020-2023 Comedy Central sitcom Awkwafina Is Nora from Queens. In 2023, she guest starred Mei-Mei in a 2023 episode of Only Murders in the Building. Some of her other sitcom guest appearances included Flight of the Conchords and The Jim Gaffigan Show.
Some of her other television guest appearances included One Life to Live (7 episodes), Law & Order (4 episodes), Swans Crossing (2 episodes), Dellaventura, Wonderland, Deadline, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (2 episodes), Law & Order: Criminal Intent (2 episodes), Queens Supreme, New Amsterdam, The Good Cop, and Law & Order: Organized Crime. She was best known for her role as Madame Gao in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, appearing in Daredevil (2015–2016), Iron Fist and The Defenders (both 2017).
We thank her for her work on television. She will be deeply missed.

Actor Randolph Mantooth starred as John Gage in Emergency! (1972-1977). He starred in the sitcoms Operation Petticoat and Detective School. He died of complications from pneumonia at a hospice facility in Ventura, California, on July 9. Mr. Mantooth was 80.

Mantooth starred as paramedic John Gage in the 1972-1977 NBC action-adventure medical drama Emergency!. The show's ensemble cast stars Randolph Mantooth and Kevin Tighe (as Roy DeSoto) as two rescuers, who work as paramedics and firefighters in the Los Angeles metropolitan area. The duo formed Squad 51, a medical and rescue unit of the Los Angeles County Fire Department, working together with the fictional Rampart General Hospital medical staff (portrayed by Robert Fuller, Julie London and Bobby Troup), and with the firefighter engine company at Station 51.

He starred as Lt. Mike Bender in the second season (1978-1979) of the ABC sitcom Operation Petticoat. Based on the classic 1959 Cary Grant and Tony Curtis film, the show follows the misadventures of the U.S.S. Sea Tiger, a fictional American submarine that reluctantly takes on a group of stranded Army nurses. The second season cast included Melinda Naud, Jim Varney, Don Sparks, Richard Brestoff, Jo Ann Pflug, Fred Kareman, Scott McGinnis, Robert Hogan, Warren Berlinger, and Hilary Thompson.

Mantooth starred as Eddie Dawkins in the short-lived 1979 ABC sitcom Detective School. The series was about an assortment of students who went to night school to learn basic detective skills, but who kept being caught up in real criminal cases and getting themselves and their teacher (an inept private investigator) into trouble. It also starred James Gregory, Douglas Fowley, Melinda Naud, Taylor Negron, LaWanda Page, and Pat Proft.

He played Harold 'Hal' Todd Munson Jr. in 30 episodes of As the World Turns from 2003 to 2005. In 2007, he appeared as Kirk Harmon in 11 episodes of One Life to Live.
Mr. Mantooth was a talented and versatile actor. He worked in television, documentaries, theater, and film for more than 50 years. We thank him for work on Emergency! and other television series. He will be greatly missed.

The CW Network announced that hit drama series Sullivan's Crossing from creator Roma Roth and based on the New York Times bestselling book series by Robyn Carr will return for a 10-episode fifth season, set to debut on The CW in 2027. The announcement follows the previously confirmed Season 5 renewal of Sullivan's Crossing by Bell Media’s CTV and Crave, and Fremantle.
Sullivan's Crossing stars Morgan Kohan (When Hope Calls) and Chad Michael Murray (One Tree Hill). In Season 4, Maggie Sullivan (Kohan) finally feels like life at the Crossing is falling into place, having embraced a new direction for her career and renewed her commitment to Cal (Murray). FETV Acquires Car 54, Where Are You?; Hacks Events Ahead of Final Season

On Tuesday, May 5, there's a holdup in the streets on FETV, but Car 54, wherever they are, will protect you as well as giving you laughs, as Car 54, Where Are You? comes to FETV! The series will air weekdays at 8:10am replacing an episode of Adam-12.
The comedy follows NYPD officers Gunther Toody (Joe E. Ross) and Francis Muldoon (Fred Gwynne) in the Bronx. The show is also known for its iconic 1961 Plymouth Savoy patrol car. The series lasted just two seasons but produced 60 episodes from 1961-63.

On Thursday, April 9, HBO Max brought all the glitz and glamour of Las Vegas to Hacks fans in Los Angeles with a one‑night‑only "Hacks Presents: Diva Las Vegas" fan screening event. Taking over the El Rey Theatre in celebration of the fifth and final season of the Emmy®-winning Max Original series, the immersive experience transformed the venue into a casino‑floor fantasy inspired by Hacks signature Las Vegas flair.

FETV Acquires The Carol Burnett Show Uncut; Hey A.J.! Coming to Disney Jr.

FETV (Family Entertainment Television), home to beloved and timeless television series and movies carried across cable, satellite, and virtual platforms, announced that The Carol Burnett Show will debut on the network with a "Ring in the Laughs" New Year's Day marathon. The show will then join the regular schedule on Saturday, January 3, 2026, airing nightly at 12:50am ET. As with all series on FETV, The Carol Burnett Show will air in its original, uncut format.
First premiering in 1967 and running for 11 seasons, The Carol Burnett Show stands as one of television's most influential and decorated variety series. FETV Acquires Here Come the Brides; Netflix's Mo Amer Special Trailer

FETV has acquired Here Come the Brides beginning Saturday, November 1. The series will air weekends at 1:45pm ET, along with Saturdays at 3:10am ET and Sundays at 3:15am ET, and weekday afternoons at 2:00pm.
The 1968-1970 series lasted 2 seasons and 52 episodes. It was a comedic western. After making a deal with Seattle's mill owner, lumberjack brothers Jason, Joshua, and Jeremy Bolt go to New Bedford, Massachusetts to bring back 100 brides for the men in the town.

Netflix debuts the trailer for award-winning comedian Mo Amer's third Netflix stand-up special, Wild World. In this timely and fearsly honest hour, the comedian celebrates his Palestinian heritage, relives the birth of his son, takes aim at the TSA and much more.
Mo Amer created the critically acclaimed series, Mo, which aired for two seasons on Netflix. The series won a Gotham Award for Breakthrough Television Under 40 Minutes and the Peabody Award. FETV Acquires The Munsters Effective September 29; Apple TV+ The Morning Show Renewed for Season 5

FETV (Family Entertainment Television), home to beloved and timeless television series and movies carried across cable, satellite, and virtual platforms, announced that The Munsters will join the network's programming lineup starting Monday, September 29, 2025. The show will begin in its regular time slot at 2pm ET weekdays. From October 6-10, 2025, the series will host a Watch & Win Trivia Contest, as well as an all-day "Munsters Mash" marathon on Friday, October 31 - Halloween. As with all series on FETV, The Munsters will air in its original, uncut format.
First unleashed in 1964, The Munsters follows the lovable residents of 1313 Mockingbird Lane—Herman, Lily, Grandpa, Eddie, and the "odd one out," Marilyn—as they prove that being monstrously different is actually frightfully fun. The show ran for 70 episodes on CBS and later found a large audience in syndication, leading to a spinoff series and several feature films.

Apple TV+ announced that the acclaimed, award-winning global hit drama, The Morning Show, has been renewed for a fifth season ahead of the season four premiere. FETV Acquires The Jeffersons, Uncut; BET+ Comedy Churchy Returns August 21, BET Greenlights Sketch Comedy Series

FETV (Family Entertainment Television), home to beloved and timeless television series and movies carried across cable, satellite, and virtual platforms, announced that The Jeffersons will join the network's programming lineup starting Monday, August 25th. The show will begin in its regular time slot at 6:50p ET every day with additional telecasts at 12:50a ET each night. As with all series on FETV, The Jeffersons will air in its original, uncut format.
Created by Norman Lear, The Jeffersons stars Sherman Hemsley and Isabel Sanford as George and Louise Jefferson, a prosperous African-American couple who move to the Upper East Side of Manhattan. Both Hemsley and Sanford won Emmy Awards for Best Actor/Actress, while Marla Gibbs, who played the Jefferson's maid, won Best Supporting Actress four consecutive years. The Jeffersons is one of the longest-running sitcoms in TV history, airing for 253 episodes on CBS from 1975 to 1985.

BET Media Group announced that the hit BET+ Original Series Churchy will return for its highly anticipated second season on August 21, with all 10 episodes available to stream at once. The breakout comedy made waves in its debut, becoming the most-watched scripted comedy on the platform during its premiere week. In addition, BET has greenlit The Hospital, another original series from the creative mind of comedian Kevin "KevOnStage" Fredericks.

The Hospital, a new satirical sketch comedy series that offers a behind-the-scenes look at what happens when you mix improv comedy with 'total medical negligence,' will premiere on BET linear on September 10. FETV Acquires The Rookies; Hulu Renews The Bear for Season 5

FETV (Family Entertainment Television), home to beloved and timeless television series and movies carried across cable, satellite, and virtual platforms, announced that The Rookies will join the network's programming lineup starting Sunday, July 6th with a "Red, White, and the Blue" marathon from 9a-3p ET. The show will begin in its regular time slot the following day at 3:15p ET weekdays. As with all series on FETV, The Rookies will air in its original, uncut format.
Created by Rita Lakin, The Rookies stars Georg Stanford Brown, Sam Melville, and Michael Ontkean as three rookie officers in the fictional Southern California Police Department. Kate Jackson also stars as Jill Danko, a registered nurse who regularly interacts with the officers in the line of duty. The series aired on ABC from 1972 to 1976 and spawned a spin-off series titled S.W.A.T.

Following the debut of The Bear's fourth season, which is off to a white-hot start with viewers, FX has picked up the fifth season of the acclaimed Emmy(R)-Award winning comedy. All seasons, including the newly released season four, are available to stream on Hulu and Hulu on Disney+ with a bundle subscription domestically and Disney+ internationally.

My Three Sons to Join FETV Lineup Starting February 3; St. Denis Medical Renewed for Season 2

As we mentioned last week, FETV is going to air uncut episodes of most of its series starting in February. My Three Sons joins the lineup starting Monday, February 3 airing unedited on weekdays at 11:45am and 12:22am and again in late night at 3:10am and 3:47am. The rest of the schedule are the shows currently airing but in new odd start and end times due to the uncut nature. It looks like most shows will be uncut, with exceptions like Bewitched and Barney Miller from Sony Pictures. View the full schedule.
My Three Sons is an American sitcom following the life of widower and aeronautical engineer Steven Douglas (Fred MacMurray) as he raises his three sons. The show is known to be one of television’s first single-parent sitcoms, revolving around an all-male family facing the hardships of life in suburbia. The series centers around the boys – Mike (Tim Considine), Robbie (Don Grady), and Chip (Stanley Livingston). Always there to help out is the kids’ crabby but lovable maternal grandfather and live-in housekeeper, Michael Francis ‘Bub’ O’Casey (William Frawley). NBC has renewed its hit freshman comedy series St. Denis Medical for a second season in 2025-2026. The Jeffersons 50th Anniversary Marathon on Antenna TV; FETV to Air Uncut Episodes of Most Series

Five decades after the date and time of the original 1975 premiere, Antenna TV celebrates the groundbreaking sitcom The Jeffersons with a "Still Movin' On Up: The Jeffersons 50th Anniversary Marathon" starting January 18 at 8:30 pm ET. Watch 50 hours of the best episodes of The Jeffersons beginning with the premiere episode, "A Friend in Need." Antenna TV's marathon will also include special guest appearances from Marla Gibbs (Florence) and Ernest Harden, Jr. (Marcus Henderson). Throughout the marathon, Raven-Symoné, host of Scrabble on The CW Network, will share fun facts about The Jeffersons, including how Weezy got her name to the story behind the nostalgic "Movin' on Up" theme song that fans can still recite word for word to this day.
Developed by Norman Lear and a spin-off of All in the Family, The Jeffersons ran for 11 seasons, from 1975 through 1985. Max's The Sex Lives of College Girls Returns November 21; FETV Acquires Laramie

The ten-episode Max Original comedy series The Sex Lives of College Girls returns for its third season Thursday, November 21, followed by one new episode weekly at 9:00pm ET through January 23 on Max. Created by Emmy®-nominated writer and producer Mindy Kaling and Justin Noble, The Sex Lives of College Girls follows a group of college students at New England's prestigious Essex College. Series regulars are Pauline Chalamet, Amrit Kaur, Alyah Chanelle Scott, Christopher Meyer, Ilia Isorelýs Paulino, Renika Williams, Gracie Lawrence, and Mia Rodgers.

Laramie stars Robert Fuller as Jess Harper and John Smith as Slim Sherman. The two stars maintain the Sherman Ranch and service the stagecoach stop, which brings a bevy of guest stars to the series. Laramie was one of the first television programs to transition from black-and-white to color broadcasts. The series aired on NBC from 1959 to 1963 for four seasons and 124 episodes.

Apple TV+ Shrinking Season 2; FETV Highway Patrol 10-4 Day Marathon

Apple TV+ revealed the trailer for the second season of its acclaimed, Emmy Award-nominated comedy Shrinking, starring Emmy-Award nominee Jason Segel and multi-award winner Harrison Ford, and created by Emmy Award winners Bill Lawrence and Brett Goldstein, and Segel. The 12-episode second season will premiere globally on Apple TV+ with the first two episodes on Wednesday, October 16, followed by one new episode weekly, every Wednesday until December 25, 2024. Shrinking follows a grieving therapist (played by Segel) who starts to break the rules and tell his clients exactly what he thinks. Ignoring his training and ethics, he finds himself making huge, tumultuous changes to people's lives ... including his own. In addition to Segel and Ford, Shrinking stars Emmy-Award nominee Christa Miller, Emmy-Award nominee Jessica Williams, Luke Tennie, Michael Urie, Lukita Maxwell and Ted McGinley. Goldstein will appear as a special guest star in season two.

FETV's Sunday Mystery Matinee Block; Glen Powell Is Chad Powers for Hulu Comedy

FETV (Family Entertainment Television), home to beloved and timeless television series and movies carried across cable, satellite, and virtual platforms, announced that the "Sunday Mystery Matinee" will join the network's programming lineup beginning Sunday, September 8. The weekly special will debut with the Cagney & Lacey reunion movies, all four of which star Emmy winners Sharon Gless and Tyne Daly reprising their iconic roles, for the month of September before segueing to the 1980s series The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes.
The four Cagney & Lacey television movies all feature Sharon Gless as Christine Cagney and Tyne Daly as Mary Beth Lacey, reprising their roles from the original series. Released in the mid 1990s, the television films follow Cagney and Lacey as they reunite working as special investigators for the District Attorney's office. The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes (1984-85) stars Jeremy Brett as Sherlock Holmes and David Burke as Dr. John Watson. Originally broadcast on ITV in Britain, Sherlock Holmes episodes feature adaptations of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's most famous stories, including "The Adventure of Copper Beeches" and "The Red-Headed League".

Think Fast, run fast. Upcoming Hulu Original Comedy series Chad Powers has officially started production starring Glen Powell. Hulu's half-hour comedy Chad Powers, from co-creators and executive producers Glen Powell and Michael Waldron. Eli Manning serves as executive producer along with Omaha Productions' Peyton Manning, Jamie Horowitz, Ben Brown and ESPN. Waldron and Adam Fasullo are executive producing for Anomaly Pictures. Luve Rakhe will executive produce and Tony Yacenda will serve as director and executive producer. The series stars Powell, who is also co-creating, co-writing and executive producing under his production co-banner Barnstorm Productions.
When bad behavior nukes hotshot QB Russ Holliday's college career, he disguises himself and walks onto a struggling Southern football team as the talented, affable Chad Powers. Based on the sketch produced by NFL Films and Omaha Productions that aired on ESPN+ as part of the Eli's Places series, the half-hour comedy from 20th Television will stream on Hulu. Powell and Waldron co-wrote the pilot.

FETV Acquires Dragnet; CBS Special for Bob Newhart

FETV (Family Entertainment Television), home to beloved and timeless television series and movies carried across cable, satellite, and virtual platforms, announced that Dragnet will join the network's programming lineup beginning Monday, August 19. The show will debut in its regular time slot weekday mornings at 8a ET and weekday afternoons at 6p ET. To celebrate the launch of the show, FETV will conduct a Watch & Win Trivia Contest during telecasts of Dragnet the week of August 19. Dragnet 1967 stars Jack Webb as Sgt. Joe Friday and Harry Morgan as Officer Bill Gannon. Set in Los Angeles, California, episodes were drawn from official LAPD case files. Dragnet is perhaps the most influential police procedural in television history, airing for the entirely of the 1950s before seeing a revival in the late 1960s. The relaunched series aired on NBC from 1967 to 1970.

CBS announced a new Entertainment Tonight special, Bob Newhart: A Legacy of Laughter, to air tonight - Monday, July 22 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network, and streaming on Paramount+ (live and on-demand for Paramount+ with SHOWTIME subscribers, or on-demand for Paramount+ Essential subscribers the day after the special airs).
Hosted by Entertainment Tonight's Nischelle Turner, this one-hour tribute honors the late comedian with a look back at his 70-year career, featuring never-before-seen interviews, and his final interview from his home in Los Angeles. The special takes an in-depth look at his journey from accountant to comedian to Hollywood icon, with rare behind-the-scenes footage of Bob on the set of his sitcoms and feature films, from the Entertainment Tonight vault. Included are new and archival interviews with some of Bob's closest friends and co-stars, including Jim Parsons, Will Ferrell, Reese Witherspoon, Jason Bateman and Michael Weatherly. The show takes an intimate look inside Bob's personal life and his marriage to the love of his life, Ginnie, with newly revealed stories about how he changed American culture through comedy.
Bob starred as Chicago psychologist Robert Hartley on the CBS television series The Bob Newhart Show from 1972 to 1978, and then as Vermont innkeeper Dick Loudon on Newhart from 1982 to 1990, also on the Network. He had two other sitcoms on CBS in the 1990s, Bob and George and Leo. Bob played the recurring role of Professor Proton on the CBS sitcom The Big Bang Theory from 2013 to 2018, for which he received his first Primetime Emmy Award.

FETV Acquires The Life and Legend of Wyatt Earp; Game Show Network to Debut New Show Hosted by Cameron Mathison

FETV (Family Entertainment Television), home to beloved and timeless television series and movies carried across cable, satellite, and virtual platforms, announced that The Life and Legend of Wyatt Earp has joined the network's programming lineup as of yesterday Monday, April 29, 2024. The show debuted in its regular time slot every afternoon at 1p ET. To celebrate the launch of the show, FETV will conduct a special trivia event called "Life OR Legend" from now through May 5, featuring true or false statements posed both on-air and on FETV's Instagram account, where viewers can answer in real time.
The Life and Legend of Wyatt Earp stars Hugh O'Brian as the eponymous character, one of the most legendary lawmen of the wild west. The series was the first Western written for adults, premiering four days before Gunsmoke in 1955 and airing for six seasons and 229 episodes on ABC.

Cameron Mathison hosts Beat the Bridge on Game Show Network. The new series premieres June 10 at 6PM and will air weeknights. Based on the hit BBC show Bridge Of Lies and format created by STV Studios, Beat the Bridge features an enormous interactive bridge that dares players to cross by stepping on the right answers to challenging trivia questions. Each step forward puts money in the team’s bank, with bonus money for each successful crossing. However, the team gets to keep the money only if it can "beat the bridge" by returning one of its players back across before time expires in an exciting end game.

CBS Orders Multi-Camera Spin-off of Young Sheldon; FETV Acquires Highway Patrol

CBS announced a series order for a new half-hour, multi-camera comedy starring Montana Jordan and Emily Osment for broadcast in the 2024-2025 season. Created by the producing team behind The Big Bang Theory and Young Sheldon, Chuck Lorre, Steven Molaro and Steve Holland, the sequel follows Young Sheldon's Georgie (Jordan) and Mandy (Osment) as they raise their young family in Texas while navigating the challenges of adulthood, parenting and marriage.
Young Sheldon has been a consistent ratings winner. It premiered as the #1 new comedy of the 2017-2018 television season and became the #1 comedy in the 2019-2020 season after The Big Bang Theory completed its run. Young Sheldon returned for its seventh and final season on Feb. 15 and remains television's #1 comedy. With seven days of viewing across all platforms (linear + streaming), the season seven premiere averaged 11.2 million viewers and is up +18% from its year ago debut.
