Retta - Scariest House in America

The search for the country's most spine-tingling properties will continue when Retta, star of HGTV's Ugliest House in America, returns for six new episodes of the popular spinoff Scariest House in America on Friday, Sept. 19, at 9 p.m. ET/PT. The series, which attracted more than 8.3 million viewers to its freshman season, will follow actress, comedian and home design enthusiast Retta as she travels the U.S. to tour 15 more petrifyingly paranormal or horrifically hideous houses whose owners say are haunted by scary stories and hair-raising sights. Brady Bunch House on the Market; The Family Stallone Gets 2nd Season

The Brady Bunch House

HGTV has put the famous "Brady Bunch House" in Los Angeles, with its instantly recognizable street view, on the market for immediate sale. In 2019, the network sparked a new era of "Brady-mania" for millions of fans when, as part of its series, A Very Brady Renovation, it transformed the real home located in North Hollywood into a replica of the original set design from The Brady Bunch television series. As part of the massive renovation, HGTV invested $1.9 million and added 2,000 square feet to the property's original footprint, including a full second story. Standout features in the completed home include the iconic floating staircase, the burnt orange-and-avocado green kitchen, the kids' Jack-n-Jill bathroom and a backyard with a swing set, teeter totter and Tiger's dog house. The listing price is $5.5 million.

HGTV plans to use a portion of the proceeds from the sale of the home to help provide up to 250,000 meals for Turn Up! Fight Hunger, an initiative that helps kids living with hunger in the U.S. through No Kid Hungry. The home and many of its contents, including customized pieces such as the green floral living room couch and the credenza with a 3-D printed horse sculpture, will be available for sale beginning this month. The real estate listing will be managed by Danny Brown at Compass. During A Very Brady Renovation, which attracted more than 28 million viewers, HGTV stars, including the series hosts Drew and Jonathan Scott, worked alongside the cast members who played the six Brady kids to meticulously recreate every detail of the legendary home. HGTV's next pop culture-inspired series is Barbie Dreamhouse Challenge, in which the network changes a Southern California home into a real-life dreamhouse inspired by Mattel's Barbie. The series is set to air this summer.

Game Show Network Announces New Original Series; Retta Hosting New HGTV Show

Tug of Words - Ahmad Rashad

Game Show Network, the leader in game shows and competitive entertainment, has announced Emmy(R) award-winning television and sports personality Ahmad Rashad as host of a new quick-moving wordplay game show, Tug of Words. The half-hour original series is anticipated to premiere fall 2021. From the producing team behind Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, Tug of Words is a fast-paced game where two teams compete to answer word clue questions correctly and pull the flag on the "tug of war rope" to their side. In round one, each answer involves changing a single letter in the word that appears on the board. For example, with 'TUG' on the board, the answer to the clue 'a label inside a garment' is 'TAG,' and with 'TAG' then on the board, the answer to the clue 'hopefully the upstairs neighbors aren't learning this dance' is 'TAP.' With each round, an additional letter is added creating four and five letter words to solve. The team with the flag on their side after three rounds wins the game, qualifying them for the bonus round where they have opportunity to compete for $10,000.

Emmy(R) award-winning television personality Ahmad Rashad is perhaps known just as much for his engaging commentary and interviews with some of the best-known figures in sports as he is for his football career. Over the past two decades, Rashad covered NFL and NBA televised contests both as a studio anchor and as a game reporter for NBC and ABC as well as hosted and executive produced NBA Inside Stuff. In 2010 he began hosting One on One with Ahmad Rashad, an NBA TV series which features Rashad's candid and in-depth interviews with the NBA's biggest stars including LeBron James, Michael Jordan, and Shaquille O'Neal.

During the pilot, Raven and her team will meet with homeowners who are stuck in a style rut. They will survey what items to keep, toss and sell online to maximize the budget. Maureen McCormick and Alison Victoria

Sparkling silver stars, glistening gold ornaments and illuminated glass panels etched with snowy scenes deck the halls of America's most iconic home in White House Christmas 2019. Premiering on Sunday, Dec. 15, at 5 p.m. ET/PT, the annual HGTV special follows Maureen McCormick -- from the classic television series The Brady Bunch and, most recently, HGTV's hugely successful series A Very Brady Renovation -- and Alison Victoria, star of Windy City Rehab, on an exclusive room-by-room tour of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue's magnificent holiday transformation.

This year's décor theme, The Spirit of America, is a tribute to the traditions, customs and history that shape our nation and celebrates the courageous individuals who have kept the American spirit alive. For example, the famed gingerbread replica of the White House features landmarks from around the country, such as the Statue of Liberty and Mount Rushmore, while the East Room trees take inspiration from the American flag with gilded eagle tree toppers and red and blue ribbons. During the special, Maureen and Alison craft handmade topiaries and ornaments, create a chocolate tree for the gingerbread display, and hang signs and paper flowers representing their home states on the official Blue Room Christmas tree.

Fri-Yay: Sunnyside Becomes the Season's First Cancellation; Maureen McCormick to Co-Host HGTV Christmas Special

It's time for another edition of Fri-Yay! That means we will take a look back on some sitcom happenings in recent days or weeks or other fun sitcomy stuff. It's a sitcom lover's paradise! Happy Fri-Yay!

Sunnyside

by Vincent

This past week, the first sitcom of the network TV season fell victim to the cancellation bear - and it was, in fact, the first network TV cancellation across all genres. NBC's Sunnyside was taken off the schedule to be replaced by the last season of Will & Grace. But there is something of a twist - the series will finish out its run on NBC's new streaming service Peacock, so it will get a chance to finish its story rather than ending abruptly to be burned off on Saturdays in the summer or some other terrible fate. Technically, there is even the possibility Sunnyside could move there full-time and score a second season renewal, the way AP Bio did last season. Still, the show's numbers were truly measly, being outdrawn even by The CW, barely managing to keep the eyes of 1.5 million viewers (live+same day) every week.

So is losing Sunnyside a loss for sitcom fans? I thought the pilot showed some promise but also had a lot of flaws. Given that the series is co-created by Mike Schur, it's possible the series could've eventually found its footing. There are certainly the bones of a solid series, and the cast is very talented. But as of now, it's not a show I personally will be actively seeking out when it finishes its run on Peacock. It's a shame that it may never get the chance to become the show it could be, but it's also not a series that felt like, at least at this point, it could hang with shows like Superstore and The Good Place in terms of quality. So farewell (maybe) to Sunnyside, a show that wasn't bad enough to truly "deserve" being the first cancellation of the series, but also just never quite lived up to its potential.

White House Christmas

Maureen McCormick, best known as Marcia Brady of The Brady Bunch and star of HGTV's hugely successful series A Very Brady Renovation, will join home renovation expert and star of Windy City Rehab Alison Victoria to co-host White House Christmas 2019. Cameras will follow Maureen and Alison as they take an exclusive room-by-room tour with staff and volunteers to see the magnificent holiday transformation of the White House. The one-hour special will premiere in December.

In early December, HGTV will announce the premiere date for White House Christmas and details about the 2019 décor theme. Until then, fans can visit HGTV.com/WhiteHouseChristmas for photo galleries of the holiday festivities from years past and can interact via social media using #WhiteHouseChristmas. The special will be available on demand across all platforms and on HGTV GO the same day as the linear premiere.

A Very Brady Renovation: Holiday Edition

Brady Bunch and HGTV superfans will rejoice when the network reunites the six Brady siblings to deck the halls in the iconic Brady Bunch house and celebrate the merriest time of year in A Very Brady Renovation: Holiday Edition. Premiering Monday, Dec. 16, at 10 p.m. ET/PT, the holiday extravaganza features Food Network's Ree Drummond, star of The Pioneer Woman, and Jasmine Roth, star of HGTV's Hidden Potential, as they team up with the Brady Bunch cast to whip up 70s-inspired treats, including fondue-style potatoes, a gelatin fruit salad and santapes. They also create retro DIY decorations to adorn the home in festive Brady Bunch style. And, even better than sugar plums and candy canes, fans also can watch the holiday-themed episode on Food Network on Sunday, Dec. 22, at 1 p.m. ET/PT.

During the episode, the Brady siblings Barry Williams (Greg), Maureen McCormick (Marcia), Christopher Knight (Peter), Eve Plumb (Jan), Mike Lookinland (Bobby) and Susan Olsen (Cindy) will help Ree prep the feast in the famous orange-and-green kitchen. Jasmine will work with them to complete several DIY holiday projects, including transforming shutters into life-size toy soldier lawn decorations. A Very Brady Renovation Premieres Sept. 9 on HGTV; Trinkets Gets Conclusion Season in 2020 on Netflix

A Very Brady Renovation

Here's the story...America has passionately followed HGTV's Brady Bunch journey—from the network's purchase of the world-famous North Hollywood house in 2018 to the monumental renovation that made the home a replica of the original TV set design. Now, HGTV is set to unveil the astonishing transformation in the hugely anticipated series A Very Brady Renovation, premiering Monday, Sept. 9, at 9 p.m. ET/PT. The six Brady Bunch siblings, Barry Williams (Greg), Maureen McCormick (Marcia), Christopher Knight (Peter), Eve Plumb (Jan), Mike Lookinland (Bobby) and Susan Olsen (Cindy), teamed up with HGTV's biggest renovation star experts Jonathan and Drew Scott (Property Brothers: Forever Home), Mina Starsiak Hawk and Karen E Laine (Good Bones), siblings Leanne and Steve Ford (Restored by the Fords), Jasmine Roth (Hidden Potential) and Lara Spencer (GMA, Flea Market Flip), to execute the boldest home renovation the world has ever seen. HGTV cameras captured more than 9,000 hours of the demo, renovation and meticulous replication of the Brady Bunch house. During production, there was so much incredible, fun activity that the series will kick off with an extended 90-minute blockbuster premiere episode.

After their initial tour of the house, which looks nothing like the original studio set, the Brady cast and HGTV stars waste no time starting the renovation and replication. HGTV added 2,000 square feet to the original footprint of the house—all without compromising its instantly recognizable street view. Jonathan and Drew pair up with Maureen and Susan to tackle the entryway, living room, iconic floating staircase and dining room, and the brothers also work with Christopher on the exterior overhaul. Throughout the rest of the season, Christopher and Eve recreate the orange and green kitchen and family room with Leanne and Steve; Mike and Susan join forces with Mina and Karen to overhaul the kids' bedrooms and the Jack-and-Jill bathroom as well as the backyard; Barry and Jasmine take on Mike's den; Barry, Jasmine and Lara makeover Greg's attic; and Eve and Lara recreate Alice's bedroom. HGTV also crowdsourced vintage furniture and dĂ©cor items true to the original TV series, some of which will be featured in A Very Brady Renovation. High-demand items for the Brady Bunch home reno included the living room couch and credenza, Greg’s attic radio, the front door handles and several of the home's legendary tchotchkes.

Trinkets

You had questions, we've got answers. The conclusion to the Trinkets story, with the final season is coming in 2020. When three teenage girls from different corners of the high school cafeteria find themselves in the same mandated Shoplifter's Anonymous meeting, an unlikely friendship forms. Elodie (Brianna Hildebrand, Deadpool) - the grieving misfit, Moe (Kiana Madeira, The Flash) - the mysterious outsider, and Tabitha (Quintessa Swindell, Euphoria) - the imperfect picture of perfection, will find strength in each other as they negotiate the complicated dilemma of trying to fit in while longing to break out. Trinkets is based on the young adult novel by Kirsten "Kiwi" Smith, who serves as an executive producer. The first season launched in June with 10 half-hour episodes, now 10 more will come in 2020.
