Hutchins starred as Woody Banner in the short-lived 1966-1967 CBS sitcom Hey, Landlord. Woody Banner learns that his uncle has died and that he has inherited from him a New York City brownstone apartment building in Manhattan's East 30s as its landlord. It served as the first TV show as co-creator/producer for Garry Marshall. The series also starred Sandy Baron, Pamela Rodgers, Miko Mayama, Michael Constantine, Ann Morgan Guilbert, and Kathryn Minner.

He starred as Dagwood Bumstead in the short-lived 1968-1969 CBS sitcom Blondie. The series is an updated version of the 1957 TV series based on the comic strip of the same name. Hutchins was best known for his role as Tom "Sugarfoot" Brewster in the 1957-1961 ABC western Sugarfoot. Tom Brewster was an Easterner who comes to the Oklahoma Territory to become a lawyer. Brewster was a correspondence-school student whose apparent lack of cowboy skills earned him the nickname "Sugarfoot", a designation even below that of a tenderfoot. Hutchins was the only regular on the show.
He guest starred in a 1972 episode of Love, American Style. Some of his other television guest appearances included Conflict (3 episodes), Matinee Theatre (4 episodes), 77 Sunset Strip (2 episodes), Maverick, Cheyenne, The Roaring 20's, Bronco, Surfside 6, Gunsmoke, The Alfred Hitchcock Hour, Perry Mason, The New Perry Mason, Emergency!, Chase, Movin' On, and The Streets of San Francisco.

The Partridge Family boasted a number of all-star guests during its four-season tenure, with unforgettable appearances by Johnny Cash, Richard Pryor, Jodie Foster, Dick Clark, John Astin, Howard Cosell, and MLB Hall of Famer Johnny Bench; in addition to early roles by then-up-and-comers such as Mark Hamill, Louis Gossett Jr., Meredith Baxter, Rob Reiner, and Jackie Earle Haley, as well as future Charlie's Angels Farrah Fawcett, Jaclyn Smith, and Cheryl Ladd.

The Price Is Right: A Tribute to Bob Barker, a new one-hour special honoring the life and career of the beloved late television legend and animal rights activist, who was a longstanding member of the CBS family, will be broadcast Thursday, Aug. 31 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network, and streaming on Paramount+. Drew Carey, who succeeded Bob Barker as The Price Is Right host – and is a longtime fan and friend of Barker's – celebrates Barker's life and legacy as host of the tribute.
CBS will air an encore broadcast of the special in the regular weekday timeslot for The Price Is Right (11:00 AM-12:00 PM, ET/10:00-11:00 AM, PT) on Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 4.
For 35 years, Barker, who died at age 99 last Saturday (Aug. 26), hosted The Price Is Right, television's longest-running daytime game show. He was its host from 1972 to 2007 and was well-known for signing off each day with the quote, “Help control the pet population. Have your pet spayed or neutered.” He earned 14 Daytime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Game Show Host and received a Lifetime Achievement Award at the 1999 Daytime Emmy Awards.
Featuring an array of “priceless” on-camera moments from throughout Barker's 50-plus year career, the special showcases his talents as a charming, charismatic and razor-sharp “master of ceremonies” who created special connections with countless contestants on The Price Is Right – and his evolution into a pop culture icon appearing as himself in prominent projects on both the silver and small screens.
Game Show Network will honor the late Bob Barker with an eight-hour marathon of Match Game episodes featuring him this Saturday, September 2, starting at 9 am.
