Modern Family Renewed for 2 More Seasons; More Pre-Upfront News
We're jumping for joy because Modern Family has been picked up for TWO more amazing seasons, its 9th and 10th seasons. The 8th season wraps up next week, and in the season finale, Manny's father, Javier (guest star Benjamin Bratt), shows up for his graduation and takes him out on a wild night of celebration, and then Jay steps in to pick up the pieces. Meanwhile, the Pritchett-Dunphy-Tucker clan is getting ready for Luke and Manny's big day and dealing with the emotions that come with seeing your kids grow up and leave the nest. Modern Family anchors ABC Wednesdays at 9pm and will likely stay in that slot next season (and probably the year after, too).
Time for a speed round of pre-upfront news. ABC has canceled Last Man Standing after six seasons, in somewhat of a surprise. The series was pretty expensive, as ABC did not own it and Tim Allen's salary is steep. ABC also has announced that next season will be the last for Scandal, its seventh season. NBC has canceled freshman drama Timeless. In good news, Fox has ordered new seasons of Gotham and sitcom The Last Man on Earth, while NBC has renewed Blindspot and the three veteran Chicago series (Chicago Fire, Chicago P.D. and Chicago Med). And finally, The CW has renewed iZombie and The Originals.
Moving onto new series, The CW has picked up a few new dramas, including Black Lightning. The first African-American DC Super Hero to have his own stand-alone comic title, the series is based on the character created by Tony Isabella with Trevor Von Eeden in 1977 and stars China Anne McClain. The CW has also ordered Life Sentence, a dramedy about a young woman diagnosed with terminal cancer and when she finds out that she's not dying after all, she has to learn to live with the choices she made when she decided to live like she was dying. Lucy Hale stars. The biggest new CW series will probably be Dynasty, a reboot of Esther Shapiro and Richard Shapiro's famed 1981-1989 series about two of America's wealthiest families, the Carringtons and the Colbys, as they feud for control over their fortune and their children, among the stars are Alan Dale, Brianna Brown, Elizabeth Gillies and Grant Show. And finally, The CW has picked up Valor, a drama about a U.S. Army base that houses an elite unit of helicopter pilots trained to perform clandestine international and domestic missions.
Fox has picked up new drama The Resident. A tough, brilliant senior resident guides an idealistic young doctor through his first day, pulling back the curtain on what really happens, both good and bad, in modern-day medicine. The series stars Matt Czuchry, Bruce Greenwood and Emily VanCamp. Comedy wise, Fox has ordered two series: Ghosted and LA to Vegas. In Ghosted, a cynical skeptic (Craig Robinson), and a genius "true believer" in the paranormal (Adam Scott), are recruited by a secret government agency to look into the rampant "unexplained" activity in Los Angeles -- all while uncovering a larger mystery that could threaten the existence of the human race. And in LA to Vegas, it is an ensemble workplace comedy about an airline crew and the eccentric passengers who, every weekend, take the roundtrip flight from Burbank to Las Vegas with one goal in mind - to come back a winner. Dylan McDermott stars.

Baby Daddy Crosses Over with General Hospital in February; Full Lineup for 32nd Annual PaleyFest
In a fun move, cast members from ABC Family's Baby Daddy and ABC's General Hospital will crossover on both shows this February. On Wednesday, February 4, General Hospital's Kelly Monaco (Sam McCall) will guest star on Baby Daddy. Then on Friday, February 13, Baby Daddy's Derek Theler (Danny Wheeler) and Melissa Peterman (Bonnie Wheeler) will guest star on General Hospital for a special Valentine's Day episode. In "Over My Dead Bonnie," Kelly Monaco plays an exaggerated version of herself. Danny is offered a cameo role on General Hospital; he's really nervous and asks Riley to help him rehearse. Riley is a huge fan and can't believe Danny is going to be in a scene with Kelly Monaco (Kelly Monaco), who plays her favorite character, Sam. Although Kelly is initially annoyed by the stunt casting, she soon finds Danny charming and decides he needs to be her new love interest. Meanwhile, Tucker and Ben are tired of living with Bonnie and are determined to get her out of their apartment and back into hers. The boys figure out the best way to break the lease is to have Bonnie "die," so they stage a funeral on the General Hospital set. This episode of Baby Daddy airs Wednesday, February 4 at 8:30pm ET/PT on ABC Family.
On General Hospital, Melissa Peterman plays an old friend of Olivia's from Bensonhurst, and Derek Theler plays a colleague of Dr. Patrick Drake. In this episode, it is Valentine's Day in Port Charles. Olivia receives a surprise visitor from her Bensonhurst days. Melissa Santoro-Picard (Melissa Peterman) and the two old friends quickly catch up on life and loves. Later in the day, Melissa runs into another familiar face in Port Charles. Meanwhile, Dr. Patrick Drake is called to consult on a case at the last minute, delaying his date with Sam. Coincidentally, Patrick's colleague Derek (Derek Theler) was also stood up by his date. Derek and Sam agree to keep each other company until their significant others arrive. As the night progresses, the two discover the true meaning of Valentine's Day. This episode of General Hospital airs Friday, February 13 on ABC daytime.

Centic Fall 2014 Schedule; Hallmark Hall of Fame Movies to Move to Hallmark Channel
Today we'll give you Centric's fall 2014 schedule. Some of it starts today, but most starts in a few weeks on Sept. 29. First up, Family Matters is joining Centric's line-up beginning today and will air at 5 & 5:30pm for the next few weeks. It will change timeslots on Sept. 29, so keep reading. Joining the primetime schedule at 8pm will be reruns of Scandal. Sister network BET was airing Scandal and will continue to do so, as they will have repurposing rights to new episodes that air on ABC a few days later. More on BET tomorrow. With the addition of these two series this week, Wayans Bros. will be off the line-up. Centric will also air the talk show Queen Latifah weeknights at 11. There are just minor time changes this week, but you can catch a 30th anniversary marathon of The Cosby Show this weekend (Sept. 20-21) from 10am-10pm.
Moving on to Sept. 29, we will detail the full schedule. CSI: NY will move to 9am replacing New York Undercover. Up next, Cosby Show and Family Matters will get morning plays, airing an hour each from 10am-12pm. Movies will continue to air about 12-2:30pm, with The Steve Harvey Show now airing 2:30pm-4pm. That sitcom will be the perfect lead-in to the new acquisition, game show Family Feud hosted by Steve Harvey, airing at 4 & 4:30pm. More sitcom time changes will occur in the evening, with The Jamie Foxx Show moving to 5-6pm and The Cosby Show's evening hour moves to 6-7pm. At 7pm, Centric will air the talk show Arise 360, which is aired live on the internet at 3pm, but now Centric will air it on TV at 7pm. In primetime, Scandal is at 8pm, but now new sitcoms will air from 9-11pm, with Family Matters at 9 and My Wife & Kids, moving over from BET to Centric, at 10. Queen Latifah is at 11, leading into a movie at midnight. Sitcoms will air from 2:30am-4am, with different ones each day: Jamie Foxx on Monday nights, Steve Harvey on Tuesday nights, My Wife & Kids on Wednesday nights, Family Matters on Thursday nights and the return of Moesha on Friday nights. Weekends will continue to be movies and sitcom marathons. So what will BET have in store? We'll let you know tomorrow as they will have a new acquisition that we hinted about...
The primetime Hallmark Hall of Fame movies are leaving broadcast television. Hallmark Cards announced that new movies in its acclaimed Hallmark Hall of Fame series will debut in 2014-15 on Hallmark Channel, rather than ABC. The move comes after three years (Nov. 2011-May 2014) of a unique arrangement under which the premieres of new Hallmark Hall of Fame movies have aired on ABC and encore presentations have aired on Hallmark Channel the following week. Hallmark Channel will now air both the premiere presentations and multiple encores of each production. The first movie in the new arrangement will be One Christmas Eve in late November. Anne Heche, appearing in her third Hallmark Hall of Fame movie, will star as a recently-divorced mom who wants her two kids' first Christmas "without dad" to be perfect. An entertaining but unfortunate series of Christmas Eve mishaps ensures that won't happen - unless perfect means the family has its most memorable and heartwarming Christmas ever.

The ABC Television Network announced midseason premiere dates today for new series The Assets, Killer Women, Mind Games and Mixology. In addition, the network has scheduled premiere dates for the new season of The Bachelor with Juan Pablo Galavis, critically acclaimed comedy Suburgatory, and the cooking competition series The Taste, now expanded to two hours. Previously announced new drama series Resurrection will now premiere at 9:00pm on Sunday, March 9, thus Revenge will move into the 10:00pm time slot starting on that date. The midseason schedule launches on Thursday, Jan. 2 with the return of The Taste expanded to two hours and on a new night. Previously announced reality series The Quest will now premiere at a later date. As for Once Upon a Time in Wonderland, no return date has been planned but five episodes will remain to be aired after its Dec. 12 "fall" finale.
Moving on, no surprise that The Bachelor will launch its new season on the first Monday of the new year, on Monday, Jan. 6 from 8-10pm. On the following night, new Tricia Helfer drama Killer Women will premiere on Tuesday, Jan. 7 at 10pm for eight episodes before another new drama premieres on Tuesday, March 11 in the time period: Mind Games starring Christian Slater. And finally, as mentioned earlier Resurrection will now premiere at 9:00pm on Sunday, March 9 into Revenge at its new time. Once Upon a Time will also return on this date. It is unclear still what will air in January and February on Sunday nights, but there could be some airings of the current ABC Sunday drama line-up (Once, Revenge, Betrayal) in January before taking a short break. One other note, Nashville will return for its midseason premiere on Wednesday, February 26 at 10. It is still uncertain if that series will be on a hiatus in January and February. If so, no idea yet what will air in that slot. Stay with us for continued updates.
NBC has entered a deal to co-produce 12 episodes of the half-hour singlecam comedy Working the Engels from producers Halfire-CORE Entertainment in partnership with Shaw Media. The Engels must all go to work running Dad's storefront law firm, with one minor problem - daughter Jenna is the only one who is qualified to practice law. SCTV legend and two-time Emmy Award winner Andrea Martin will play Ceil, the overly confident family matriarch. Fantasy Island Begins Dec. 8 with Marathon on Cozi TV; TV Guide Magazine's 2013 Fan Favorites Cover Poll
Back in early September we mentioned that Cozi TV has acquired Fantasy Island, Starsky & Hutch and Hart to Hart - all from Sony Pictures Television. Now we have details on one of them. Fantasy Island will begin with a five-hour marathon on Sunday, December 8, 2013. The series will then air regularly on the Cozi TV line-up beginning in January (2014). The network will likely be adding more series in January as well, so stay tuned! Perhaps Starsky & Hutch or Hart to Hart will also join the line-up in January, but for sure they are coming sometime in 2014. Cozi TV will continue to bring in NBC Universal-owned series to its schedule, along with these Sony Pictures Television series and other libraries. We will reveal any upcoming acquisitions when they announce them! Hopefully a sitcom or two will pop up in the next year or two? Airing from 1978 to 1984, Fantasy Island was a hit TV series on ABC starring Ricardo Montalbán as Mr. Roarke, the overseer of a mysterious island located somewhere in the Pacific Ocean, where people from all walks of life came to live out their fantasies. Mr. Roarke's energetic sidekick Tattoo, played by Hervé Villechaize, opened each episode by ringing a bell and famously shouting, "The plane! The plane!" to welcome new guests to the island. Stay with us for continued updates on the Dec. 8 marathon and when it will air regularly on Cozi TV in January. TV Guide Magazine opened voting for their fourth annual "Fan Favorites" cover poll. The poll lets fans choose the cover of the magazine, which will then hit stands in early December. The voting started on October 7 and will run through October 28 and is conducted via TV Guide Magazine's official Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/TVGuideMagazine. Past winners of the competition are Doctor Who, Supernatural and Community. The 2013 "Fan Favorites" nominees are: Arrow (The CW) Downton Abbey (PBS) Duck Dynasty (A&E) Grimm (NBC) Orange is the New Black (Netflix) Orphan Black (BBC America) Pretty Little Liars (ABC Family) Scandal (ABC) Teen Wolf (MTV) The Vampire Diaries (The CW) This year, TV Guide Magazine introduces mobile voting via a new Facebook app. Voters will also have the opportunity to post a message to their Facebook community, announcing their vote and encouraging others to vote as well. As in years past, fans can votes as often as they want. TV Guide Magazine's "Fan Favorites" competition is officially on!

Digital Digest: Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman DVD News; Scandal - The Complete Second Season DVD Review
DIGITAL NEWS
Mill Creek announced a new partnership with Sony to release certain series on DVDs this week, but it really isn't anything new... at all. While the deal will include several classic sitcoms including Bewitched, The Jeffersons, Charlie's Angels, and more, it appears that the arrangement will exclusively be re-releases of products that Sony has already released. But, of course, it is possible that this arrangement could be expanded in the future and we'll see more.
MPI has been rather quiet in regards to releases in recent months, but it appears that a few "best of" DVDs will be coming from the studio in October. On October 22, the studio will release "best of" collections for The Doris Day Show, Family Affair, and The Mothers-in-Law.
Finally, it isn't too late to enter our contest to win a copy of the limited edition release of Mama's Family - The Complete Series. Complete contest details, including how to enter and rules, can be found here.
UPCOMING WEEK PREVIEW
Tuesday (September 3) has plenty of great releases. First up, Universal has the final season of The Office in The Office - Season Nine (DVD/Blu-ray), as well as the release of Parks and Recreation - Season Five on DVD. Meanwhile, ABC has their release of Scandal - The Complete Second Season, which we review in today's Digital Digest. Of course, the biggest release for next week (perhaps one of the biggest of the year) doesn't exactly "come out" on Tuesday, but is set to begin shipping next week, and that one is StarVista Entertainment's Mama's Family - The Complete Series. We are eagerly anticipating this set, and hope to have a review as soon as possible.

Anyway, as for this set, there are many memorable episodes in this suspenseful juicy series. All 22-episodes are a must see and is easy to watch. It's just so good and there is nothing like it on television. You'll be hooked. So catch up or start today as season three will start October 3 at 10|9c on Thursday nights! The season starts off with the episode "White Hat's Off," where Quinn's true identity is revealed and as the Pope & Associates team digs deeper into her past they find that she may be their biggest scandal yet, while Cyrus and First Lady Mellie put President Grant in a compromising position during a live television interview and a Rhode Island Congressman requires Olivia's help. In "Defiance," Harrison leads the team on the case of billionaire's son who is worried about his father's mental state, while Olivia works with a senator who had an affair with a 21 year old and is now resigning from his position and Cyrus and Mellie plan a birthday gala for President Grant, as the Pope & Associates team digs deeper into an investigation into rigged voting machines. The series really exploded during the episode "Happy Birthday, Mr. President," as President Grant is rushed to the hospital following the attempt on his life, as a series of flashbacks reveals more about Olivia's time in the White House and her relationship with the president, while despite Olivia's best efforts to retain the office of president for President Grant, Vice President Langston is inaugurated as president to serve until President Grant recovers. In the powerful episode "One for the Dog," while Huck is being held in an underground location and being tortured after being framed for shooting the president, the president is still in a coma, but to save Fitz's presidency Mellie forges his signature saying he is awake and ready to head back to office, but Acting President Sally Langston isn't buying it, so Olivia does what she does best and manages the crisis.
In "Whiskey Tango Foxtrot," 10 months after discovering the truth behind Defiance, Fitz is still struggling to figure out whom he can actually trust, while Olivia is trying to move on with her life, and she meets a handsome stranger, Jake Ballard (Scott Foley), who sparks her interest, but when Fitz and Olivia are forced to be in the same room again, real sparks fly and things get heated. In "Snake in the Garden," Hollis Doyle calls Olivia in when his daughter is kidnapped under suspicious circumstances, while Olivia and Jake continue their relationship whilst Quinn and Huck's friendship strengthens, but problems at the White House spring up as Cyrus fights to be back in the president's corner whilst Mellie confronts Fitz and the mole is exposed and taken care of, though all is not as one might expect. In the amazing episode "Seven Fifty-Two," secrets from Huck's life before Pope and Associates are revealed, as Olivia and Fitz engage in an emotionally charged conversation, unaware of the fact that someone could be watching, and Olivia's team comes together to help one of their own, while Cyrus is becoming increasingly skeptical of Jake, and Mellie makes a decision that could bring down the White House. In "Any Questions?" Cyrus is at the center of a big scandal at the White House, while Olivia is betrayed by someone close to her and Fitz announces his re-election campaign. And in the juicy and thrilling season finale, "White's Hat Back On," as they get closer to uncovering the mole's identity, Olivia and her team find themselves in an increasingly dangerous situation as the latest White House scandal pushes Cyrus over the edge, while David is instrumental in uncovering the identity of the mole and a secret about Olivia's life hits the media.

The DVD once again comes in a case held by an outer thin box. The thin outer box is in black with another nice facial shot of Olivia Pope with what appears to be President Grant looking at her and the series logo at the bottom and the complete second season mention is on the top. The back of the thin outer box has info on the set and series, with nice quotes from TVLine and EW. We have a nice cast photo as well. There is also a box showcasing the bonus features as well. When we remove the outer box, we get to the case. The case has the same artwork as the thin box, both cover and back, so everything is the exact same. Inside the case we have a cool cutouts of each cast member on the panels itself. There is also a disc-by-disc breakdown below the photos on the panels listing episode titles per disc. As for the discs themselves, disc one is on a little plastic holder that you can flip like a page in a book, while disc two is on back side of that holder. Same goes true for discs three and four, but disc five is on the right panel itself, though. Each disc is in the black design with the series logo in red and has character artwork. Disc one holds episodes 1-5 and has the same shot of Olivia as the cover art. Disc two holds episodes 6-10 and has artwork of both Fitz and Olivia. Disc three holds episodes 11-14 and has artwork of Cyrus and Mellie. Disc four holds episodes 15-19 and has artwork of Huck and Quinn. And finally disc five holds episodes 20-22 plus the bonus features and has artwork of Harrison, Abby and David Rosen. There is no insert booklet showcasing other ABC TV DVDs that are coming soon as we had for the season one set.
The menu design is once again great! We first have a shot of the White House, then we see clips from the series playing in the background as we have background music from the show playing (with the trademark camera snapshot sounds mixed in). Before the main menu, we have auto trailers on disc one for Revenge Season 2, ABC TV dramas on DVD, Castle Season 5 and Once Upon a Time Season 2. Back to the main menu, the options are: Play All, Episode Selection, Bonus Features, Set Up and Sneak Peeks. Sneak Peeks is only on disc five and has different trailers (ABC Image promo and Lone Ranger). Set Up gives us the option for subtitles in English, French, Espanol, and Portuguese. You can also register your DVD here. Bonus Features is just on disc five and lists what is available, while Episode Selection gives us an episode number and title. This is pretty much similar to the first season set.
Video and audio quality are both outstanding, similar to the first season and other recent ABC TV DVDs we have reviewed like Revenge. We have Digital Dolby 5.1 surround sound and it is perfect. For the video, we are in widescreen (1.78:1), enhanced for 16x9 televisions. It is excellent quality but that is expected for newer/current series. As I keep saying, if anything goes wrong with audio/video for current series, then there is a major problem. Each episode has 7 chapter stops, so it is easy to jump through an episode if you are looking for something in particular, like any steamy scene between Olivia and the President--viewer discretion advised, indeed! This is not Blu-ray, but it is still excellent!
There are some special features on this set as well! They are all on disc five. First up, we have an Extended Finale for "White Hat's Back On" (50:25) and this is actually listed inside the Episode Selection menu rather than Bonus Features. Yes, we get seven more minutes of footage from the season finale! It is even more amazing and a must-see! The rest of the extras are listed inside Bonus Features. The first one is the featurette "A Closer Look: President Grant's Assassination Attempt" (4:50). We get an inside peek at how one of season two's most pivotal scenes was shot (pun intended!). This is the episode that skyrocketed the series into a top series status. It's a very good and informative featurette and has interviews with Shonda Rhimes (creator/executive producer), Betsy Beers (executive producer), Oliver Bokelberg (director), Don Ruffin (stunt supervisor), Rajeev Dassani (visual effects supervisor), Tony Goldwyn, and Bellamy Young. Then we have a second featurette and this one is called "Being Huck" (8:02). In this inspiring piece, spend the day with Huck himself (Guillermo Diaz) and get to know the man behind the eclectic yet oddball character. This is probably the better featurette because it is longer and has more feedback. Interviewed are Guillermo Diaz, Shonda Rhimes, Kerry Washington, Betsy Beers, and Darby Stanchfield. Next up we have A LOT of deleted scenes. 38 of them, in fact. We didn't have any for the first season but now we have many on this set. Here are the episodes and timings: #201 (1:31), #202 (0:50), #204 (0:25, 0:55), #205 (0:44), #206 (0:47), #207 (0:16), #209 (1:08, 0:28, 0:41), #210 ((0:29), #211 (0:33, 1:39, 1:11), #212 (0:59), #213 (0:38, 0:43, 0:46, 0:42, 1:01, 0:30, 1:00, 0:41, 0:37), #215 (1:00), #217 (0:34, 0:16), #218 (0:55), #219 (0:36, 2:27, 0:41, 1:33, 1:07), #220 (0:25, 0:39, 0:56) and #221 (0:18, 0:37). And finally we have season two "Outtakes" (4:40). We didn't have any bloopers for the first season set, but we have some here! Fans will laugh out loud at these funny, unseen uncensored moments from the set of this hit series. They are sure having fun!
This is a nicely done set for an even better show. You have a month to watch, catch-up, or refresh yourself on all 22 episodes and be ready for season three, which begins Thursday, Oct. 3 on ABC. The series just gets better and better, and juicer and juicer. Kerry Washington and guest star Dan Bucatinsky have been nominated for Emmy's and they should win them, especially Kerry. As for the DVD, it is well done and similar to the first set and previous ABC TV DVDs. We get great audio/video, menus, packaging and special features. I think the features are better than the first season with deleted scenes and bloopers added, along with the extended finale. The featurettes could have been better as we only have two, while the first set had three. I still wish this series had audio commentaries though. That's my only real gripe, but that is not a big deal. ABC Studios knows how to make good DVDs, especially for their current series. If you haven't watched this series yet, you're crazy. Everyone should be watching this show for great television. If you need to catch-up, you need to do it right now. It is very well written and acted. So as Hollis Doyle would say "Git!" and click below to buy this DVD. It's pure electric and so fast-paced! Suit up!

Who to Follow: Scott Baio (Twitter), "Actor and my wife & I have a foundation for special needs children and to raise awareness to expanded newborn screening."
Claim to Fame: We all know the answer to this. While he is probably now famous just for being Scott Baio, his original claim to fame came when he played Chachi on Happy Days, and later Charles on the '80s series Charles in Charge. But he isn't out of the game at all, as he continues his sitcom tradition in his Nick@Nite series, See Dad Run.
Why You Should Follow Him: He is the quintessential sitcom actor of the '80s... is there really any other reason needed? But in case there is, you'll find that he does use Twitter somewhat actively (not multiple times per day, but enough to keep his fans happy) and he only seems to use it for positive things that everybody can enjoy. On top of that, he runs a great foundation (as his tagline suggests) focused on a certain childhood birth defect known as GA-1, with The Bailey Baio Angel Foundation, and he keeps his fans up-to-date on the happenings of that organization.

ABC Fall 2013 Premiere Dates; American Dad! Moves to TBS in Fall 2014 with New Episodes
At last, ABC has announced its fall premiere dates for Fall 2013. 20/20 will officially kick-off its new season on Friday, Sept. 6 at 10pm. The actual series launches will begin on Monday, Sept. 16, as Dancing with the Stars premieres a week earlier than normal from 8-10pm to try and get a head start on the season and now that it doesn't have a Results Show, likely the first elimination will happen towards the end of the second week on Monday night. Dancing's Monday counterpart Castle will launch its new season a week later on the official start of the TV season on Monday, Sept. 23 at 10pm. ABC will launch their Friday series earlier this season, as the last few years they have used an hour on Fridays for encores. This season, all the 8-10pm series will premiere on Friday, Sept. 20 starting with the season premiere of Last Man Standing at 8pm followed by the new night for The Neighbors at 8:30pm. Then it's time to sink or swim with the sharks on an all-new season of Shark Tank at 9|8c leading into 20/20. ABC Tuesday will be brand new from top to bottom and all the shows will premiere on the same night on Tuesday, Sept. 24. First up, is probably the most anticipated new series of the season in Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. at 8pm leading into likely the most promising new family comedy of the season (and set in the '80s!), The Goldbergs at 9pm. Fellow new family comedy Trophy Wife will follow at 9:30pm. At 10pm, ABC gambles with Lucky 7, a new drama that is a big swing. The next night, ABC Comedy Wednesday returns on Wednesday, Sept. 25 with a new season of laughs starting with the season premiere of The Middle at 8pm, followed by the series premiere of the new family comedy Back in the Game at 8:30pm. At 9pm, ABC will bring back its tentpole Modern Family with a special one-hour premiere event to launch the second season of the critically-acclaimed drama Nashville at 10pm. ABC's new comedy Super Fun Night starring Rebel Wilson will launch a week later on Wednesday, Oct. 2 at 9:30pm.
Onto Thursdays, ABC will launch season ten of Grey's Anatomy with a special two-hour premiere event from 9-11pm on Thursday, Sept. 26. Sizzling drama Scandal will return the following week on Thursday, Oct. 3 at 10pm for its third season. ABC has not announced what will air at 8pm on the first two Thursdays of the season, but the Once Upon a Time spin-off series Once Upon a Time in Wonderland will premiere on Thursday, Oct 10 at 8|7c to try and help this time period. ABC Saturday Night College Football will air all fall on Saturday nights. And finally on Sundays, returning dramas Once Upon a Time and Revenge both return in their 8pm & 9pm time periods on Sunday, Sept. 29. New drama Betrayal will premiere at 10|9c also on Sept. 29. ABC will once again premiere America's Funniest Home Videos on the second week of the season on Sunday, Oct. 6 at 7pm. Probably a Once Upon a Time clip-show or season finale encore will once again air on the first Sunday of the season at 7pm, but stay tuned for details at a later date.
TBS has picked up Twentieth Century Fox Television's animated hit American Dad! as an original series, beginning with the show's 11th season in 2014. Created by Seth MacFarlane, Mike Barker and Matt Weitzman, American Dad! will join TBS's primetime lineup in late 2014. Sister network Adult Swim is set to present encores of each episode after initial airings on TBS. American Dad!, which will begin its 10th and final season on the Fox television network this fall, is executive-produced by MacFarlane, Barker and Weitzman. TBS has ordered 15 episodes for season 11. TBS and Adult Swim are no strangers to the Seth MacFarlane universe, having aired reruns of American Dad! and MacFarlane's Family Guy throughout the networks' lineups. TBS currently airs American Dad! reruns weekdays at 1 and 1:30 p.m. (ET/PT). Adult Swim presents reruns of the show Tuesday-Friday at 10 p.m. (ET/PT), Monday-Friday at 10:30 p.m. (ET/PT) and Saturdays at 9:30 p.m. (ET/PT). This is the second Fox comedy to move to cable. First was of course Futurama going from Fox to Comedy central, but that had a cancelation in between. American Dad! has aired non-stop on Fox and will move to TBS immediately following its run on Fox. Since premiering on Fox in 2005, American Dad! has earned several industry accolades, including two Emmy(R) nominations for Outstanding Animated Program, two Annie Award nominations and seven Teen Choice Award nominations. In 2012, it took home the top television series prize at the ASCAP Film & Television Music Awards. Stay with us for continued updates as we get closer to 2014.
