Happy 4th of July from SitcomsOnline; Our Emmy Nominations Predictions!
Today we will give our preview of what we think the nominations for the Emmy's will look like. The real nominations are on Thursday morning, so we will give you those then. But for now...here are our predictions for the main acting categories:
BEST COMEDY SERIES
Desperate Housewives (ABC)
The Office (NBC)
Sons & Daughters (ABC)
Scrubs (NBC)
My Name is Earl (NBC)
MY THOUGHTS: Sons & Daughters could be a sleeper pick, if it doesn't make it, I guess Arrested Development, Weeds or Entourage will. Sorry Will & Grace, you didn't deserve a nod this season. Everybody Hates Chris might be a long shot.
BEST COMEDY ACTOR
Tony Shalhoub, Monk (USA Network)
Steve Carell, The Office (NBC)
Fred Goss, Sons & Daughters (ABC)
Jason Lee, My Name is Earl (NBC)
Zach Braff, Scrubs (NBC)
MY THOUGHTS: I left off Eric McCormack, Jason Bateman and Larry David. I think Fred Goss had a better year.
BEST COMEDY ACTRESS
Eva Longoria, Desperate Housewives (ABC)
Marcia Cross, Desperate Housewives (ABC)
Mary Louise Parker, Weeds (Showtime)
Felicity Huffman, Desperate Housewives (ABC)
Lauren Graham, Gilmore Girls (The WB)
MY THOUGHTS: Parker had the upset last year in this category and is very likely to return. I think Eva Longoria will make it and possibly Teri Hatcher won't. Look for Lauren Graham to finally be nominated! Jane Kazcmarek could replace her if that doesn't happen. Jane will be moving on to Help Me Help You this fall on ABC.
BEST SUPPORTING COMEDY ACTOR
Jeffrey Tambor, Arrested Development (FOX)
John Cryer, Two and a Half Men (CBS)
Rainn Wilson, The Office (NBC)
Sean Hayes, Will & Grace (NBC)
Jeremy Piven, Entourage (HBO)
MY THOUGHTS: Tambor will probably return for a nomination. Two Raymond vacancies from last year could open the door up.
BEST SUPPORTING COMEDY ACTRESS
Jessica Walter, Arrested Development (FOX)
Elizabeth Perkins, Weeds (Showtime)
Jamie Pressly, My Name is Earl (NBC)
Nicollette Sheridan, Desperate Housewives (ABC)
Megan Mullally, Will & Grace (NBC)
MY THOUGHTS: Doris Roberts is gone...another wide open category. Look for Perkins, Pressly and Sheridan possibly to get in. Holland Taylor also has a chance again.
BEST DRAMA SERIES
Lost (ABC)
The West Wing (NBC)
Grey's Anatomy (ABC)
The Sopranos (HBO)
24 (FOX)
MY THOUGHTS: Tough category. House, Six Feet Under could get snubbed. Invasion should be in here...what a great show that was.
BEST DRAMA ACTOR
Hugh Laurie, House (FOX)
James Spader, Boston Legal (ABC)
James Gandolfini, The Sopranos (HBO)
Kiefer Sutherland, 24 (FOX)
Hank Azaria, Huff (Showtime)
MY THOUGHTS: Could be almost the same from last year. I hope Matthew Fox gets a nom, though. Spader vs. Laurie round two, I guess.
BEST DRAMA ACTRESS
Edie Falco, The Sopranos (HBO)
Mariska Hargitay, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (NBC)
Patricia Arquette, Medium (NBC)
Frances Conroy, Six Feet Under (HBO)
Ellen Pompeo, Grey's Anatomy (ABC)
MY THOUGHTS: Tough to leave out Jennifer Garner. I think Pompeo will make it instead. Allison Janney, Geena Davis (who won it at the Golden Globes) or Kyra Sedwick could also sneak in.
BEST SUPPORTING DRAMA ACTOR
Terry O'Quinn, Lost (ABC)
William Shatner, Boston Legal (ABC)
Alan Alda, The West Wing (NBC)
Donald Sutherland, Commander in Chief (ABC)
Oliver Platt, Huff (Showtime)
MY THOUGHTS: Look for Sutherland to get in despite Chief getting axed. He was so good.
BEST SUPPORTING DRAMA ACTRESS
Candace Bergen, Boston Legal (ABC)
Sandra Oh, Grey's Anatomy (ABC)
CCH Pounder, The Shield (FX)
Chandra Wilson, Grey's Anatomy (ABC)
Blythe Danner, Huff (Showtime)
MY THOUGHTS: Tyne Daily is not here anymore, so it'll open the door up. Oh will win it anyway.
Nominations are announced Thursday morning. Come on back here and we will give you the official nominations and you can compare those to our picks!
