With Christmas around the corner, Freeform's beloved "25 Days of Christmas" programming event begins on December 1. This year's holiday lineup event includes the premieres of Freeform Original Features Life-Size 2, with Tyra Banks and grown-ish's Francia Raisa from airing Sunday, Dec. 2, at 9:00-11:00 p.m. EST/PST, and No Sleep 'Til Christmas, with Dave and Odette Annable airing Monday, Dec. 10, at 9:00-11:00 p.m. EST/PST. Additionally, the network will premiere the Pop Up Santa Holiday Special on Monday, Dec. 3, at 9:30-11:00 p.m. EST/PST, bringing Christmas cheer in unexpected places, and a new installment of Disney's Fairy Tale Weddings: Holiday Magic on Saturday, Dec. 8, at 8:00-9:00 p.m. EST/PST. There will be plenty of holiday classics and films as well, of course, such as The Santa Clause, Christmas with the Kranks, Toy Story, Winnie the Pooh and Christmas Too and Mickey's Christmas Carol. Freeform joins ABC, Disney Channel, Disney XD and Disney Junior in celebrating "25 Days of Christmas" across all networks.

Moving on to ABC! ABC celebrates the most wonderful time of the year with special "25 Days of Christmas" programming starting Dec. 1. The network joins Freeform, Disney Channel, Disney XD and Disney Junior in this fan-favorite TV event. The "Kickoff to Christmas" begins in late November with perennial holiday treat Santa Claus is Comin' to Town. The month of December is filled with special Christmas-themed episodes, the return of The Great Christmas Light Fight and The Great American Baking Show: Holiday Edition, and timeless animated classics (such as A Charlie Brown Christmas) and holiday films (such as The Sound of Music). The celebration continues after Christmas with New Year's-themed programming ringing in 2019. View both Freeform and ABC's full 25 Days of Christmas line-up!

The CW Network has ordered additional episodes for all three of its fall freshman series, including nine additional episodes of Charmed, and three additional episodes each of All American and Legacies. With these additional episodes, Charmed will finish its first season with 22 episodes, and All American and Legacies will have 16 episodes each for their first season runs. Charmed airs Sundays at 9pm, while All American airs Wednesdays at 9 and Legacies Thursdays at 9. With more original programming than ever this season, The CW still has five series set to premiere during the midseason 2019, including new series Roswell New Mexico and In the Dark, the final seasons of Jane the Virgin and iZombie, and the return of The 100. Premiere dates for The CW's midseason shows will be announced at a later time.

We're now into the second half of fall, the leaves are falling, it's starting to get legitimately cold... and what better way to work around that than to sit around and watch some sitcoms? This week, we've got news about a new Showtime series under development starring Vanessa Bayer, we're hearing that Orange is the New Black may be spawning a sequel, and more. Let's get going!

HIGHLIGHTS FROM SITCOMSONLINE.COM AND AROUND THE WEB

It's time for another edition of Fri-Yay! That means we will take a look back on some sitcom happenings in recent days or weeks or other fun sitcomy stuff. It's a sitcom lover's paradise! Happy Fri-Yay!

This fall has been disastrous for network TV ratings. Huge, giant sitcoms like Modern Family and The Big Bang Theory are down to all-time low numbers. Veteran hits like The Goldbergs and Superstore are at levels well below even just last season. And while there have been new sitcoms such as The Neighborhood and The Kids Are Alright to do fairly well, their numbers would've been deemed cancel-worthy just a few seasons ago. Not to mention shows like Fresh Off the Boat and Speechless, moved to Friday nights only to see almost their entire live audience abandon them. It's been a grim fall for sitcoms on network TV, even ones generally doing well, at least if your name isn't The Conners. And yet, when everything is so low, one has to ask...is it time to stop looking at live ratings as a measure for success?

There's no doubt that the live, overnight ratings (the ones that are still highly publicized) are still key to networks. These ratings are the best measures we have of how many people are watching the advertisements that make these shows profitable and keep networks in business. And yet...how many people do you know in the year 2018 that actually make it a priority to watch shows live? Probably a lot less than in 2008, or even just 5 years ago. Every year, more people turn to DVR and streaming, to the point where DVR and streaming numbers are double and triple what people are watching live. It seems that networks are slowly figuring out how to make money off these methods too, particularly streaming. You look at a network like The CW - a network whose shows all have fairly tiny live viewership numbers - and see a network that is basically still profitable because it makes deals with Netflix to air its shows, likely because Netflix knows their shows attract audiences on streaming, particularly young audiences who are not watching shows live. That's how shows like iZombie or Crazy Ex-Girlfriend - shows that very, very few people are watching live - manage to make multiple seasons. That would've been unthinkable ten years ago, but it's where things are heading.

Other networks are not quite at that level yet, but we're certainly getting close. Granted, we haven't progressed enough that we're free of high-profile cancellations - remember when Fox wiped out nearly its entire comedy slate last year? - but we're certainly getting to a point where networks are looking at other metrics to bring shows back. For example, there's no live ratings reason why CBS should've held onto Madam Secretary for as long as it has (it's consistently one of broadcast TV's lowest-rated shows in the key 18-49 demo) but syndication money keeps it profitable for CBS. It's also why we're nearly at the halfway point of November and we've yet to see a show cancelled - and this is the third year in a row where networks waited that long or nearly that long to cancel the first show of the season. (Previously, it was rare to make it through the first 2 weeks of the season without a show receiving the ax.) It's not all about live ratings anymore - it's about growing and building and audience. Live ratings aren't completely irrelevant (even if they're not cancelled yet, you can bet miserably-rated shows like I Feel Bad and The Alec Baldwin Show will not make it to the end of the 2018-2019 season) but we're finally at a place where they really no longer tell the whole story.

NBC is shifting the premiere of Dwayne Johnson's new athletic competition series The Titan Games to Thursday, Jan. 3 from 8-10 p.m. ET/PT. The series will air in its regular timeslot on Thursdays from 8-9 p.m. beginning Jan. 10. The move of The Titan Games to Thursday keeps NBC's highly successful all-Chicago Wednesday lineup intact. Brooklyn Nine-Nine will premiere Thursday, Jan. 10 at 9 p.m. and air weekly in that timeslot thru May 16. The Good Place will shift to 9:30 p.m. beginning Thursday, Jan. 10 and air in that timeslot through its season finale on Jan. 24. Will & Grace will move to 9:30 p.m. beginning Thursday, Jan. 31 and will air thru April 4. Superstore will be preempted before returning March 7 (thru May 16) when the 8-10 p.m. two-hour comedy block returns with all original programming.

I Feel Bad, which was always intended as a 13-episode season because a pair of upcoming comedies still need to be scheduled (Abby's, A.P. Bio), will conclude in December. A decision on its future will be determined at a later date. In the recent past, NBC has ordered 13-episode seasons for a handful of comedies, including The Good Place and A.P. Bio.

COZI TV has put out extra place settings for several Unexpected Guests joining viewers throughout Thanksgiving weekend. The national multicast network today announced a special four-day marathon featuring many of the most memorable episodes of Will & Grace, Murder, She Wrote, Frasier and more. This will kick-off on Thursday, November 22 at 9 AM and conclude Sunday, November 25 at midnight (check local listings). COZI TV's Unexpected Guests marathons will include Little House on the Prairie all day Thanksgiving Day, with guest stars like Johnny Cash and Lou Gossett Jr. Then its Frasier all evening Thursday featuring Kristen Chenoweth, Ted Danson and more. Murder, She Wrote takes over all day Friday with Bryan Cranston, Courtney Cox and many others. Will & Grace showcases Matt Damon, Michael Douglas, Elton John and more on Friday night. Plus the weekend line-up continues filled with a wide variety of stars and shows, from Boy George on The A-Team to Harrison Ford on The Virginian.

ABC Tuesday night comedies The Kids Are Alright and Splitting Up Together have been given full-season orders. New series The Kids Are Alright, from ABC Studios, premiered in October. From creator and executive producer Tim Doyle, the series is inspired by Doyle's own childhood. This ensemble stars Michael Cudlitz as Mike Cleary, Mary McCormack as Peggy Cleary, Sam Straley as Lawrence Cleary, Caleb Foote as Eddie Cleary, Sawyer Barth as Frank Cleary, Christopher Paul Richards as Joey Cleary, Jack Gore as Timmy Cleary, Andy Walken as William Cleary and Santino Barnard as Pat Cleary. Randall Einhorn is also an executive producer. Sophomore comedy Splitting Up Together is developed for American television by Emily Kapnek (Suburgatory), who serves as executive producer with Ellen DeGeneres, Dean Holland and Jeff Kleeman. The series stars Jenna Fischer as Lena, Oliver Hudson as Martin, Bobby Lee as Arthur, Diane Farr as Maya, Lindsay Price as Camille, Olivia Keville as Mae, Van Crosby as Mason and Sander Thomas as Milo. Mette Heeno, Mie Andreasen and Hella Joof are also executive producers. The series is produced by Piece of Pie Productions and A Very Good Production in association with Warner Bros. Television.

ABC's other Tuesday night comedies The Conners and black-ish have already full season orders.

TBS has picked up the unscripted comedy Unqualified (wt) to pilot. Following their magnetic showdown on the network's rap battle series Drop the Mic, Shaquille O'Neal and Ken Jeong are pairing up again for Unqualified (wt), which will follow the unlikely duo as they take on different odd jobs. Between them, there are very few things these two iconic Renaissance men can't do. Shaq easily shifted from court to courtside commentary as an analyst for Turner Sports' Emmy Award-winning Inside the NBA on TNT. And Jeong really is a medical doctor as well as playing one on TV. But can they be scuba instructors? Line cooks? Dental hygienists? Nude art class models? All in one day?

Summoned to their temporary employment by unsuspecting people via a digital portal, Unqualified (wt) will follow the antics of Shaq and Ken as they try their hands at jobs that have always intrigued them, along with a few they'd rather avoid. Sometimes Shaq and Ken will have no clue what they're walking into. Utilizing their wide range of talent and hustle, the duo will perform tasks such as patrolling malls as rent-a-cops, substitute teaching kindergarten, train conducting and performing as party clowns.

It's time to raise a cup of trash juice and toast farewell to FXX's critically acclaimed, anti-romantic comedy, You're the Worst. The fifth and final season of You're the Worst will premiere on Wednesday, January 9 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on FXX. You're the Worst is a modern look at love and happiness told through the eyes of two people who haven't been very successful with either. It's the story of Gretchen and Jimmy, fear, heartbreak, romance, sex, food, Los Angeles, Sunday Funday, friendship, and the fact that sometimes the worst people make the best partners. An original comedy from writer and executive producer Stephen Falk, You're the Worst puts a dark twist on the romantic comedy genre.

Narcissistic, brash, and stubborn "Jimmy Shive-Overly" (Chris Geere) has inadvertently found himself paired up with cynical, people-pleasing, and self-destructive "Gretchen Cutler" (Aya Cash). After a whirlwind courtship, and a very rough post-cohabitation period of dealing with Gretchen's clinical depression, Jimmy and Gretchen were forced to learn how to manage a relationship in the face of tragedy when Jimmy's father unexpectedly died. Ultimately drawn closer, Jimmy proposed and then suddenly disappeared when confronted with the notion that Gretchen would be his family. After a prolonged period of separation, Jimmy and Gretchen are in it for the long haul now... at least they think they are. Maybe. Rounding out the cast is Desmin Borges, who plays "Edgar Quintero," Jimmy's once homeless war veteran roommate who, having recently learned to manage his PTSD, is now firmly entrenched in the world of television comedy writing; and Kether Donohue as "Lindsay Jillian," Gretchen's best friend and former partner in crime who, after conquering the corporate world, finds herself yearning for love again.

Hulu announced a 10-episode series order for Dollface, a new comedy from ABC Signature Studios. The new Hulu Original Series will star actress Kat Dennings (2 Broke Girls), who is also set to executive produce the comedy alongside Creator and Writer Jordan Weiss (Harley Quinn) and Showrunner Ira Ungerleider. Additional executive producers include Margot Robbie, Brett Hedblom and Tom Ackerley for LuckyChap Entertainment; Bryan Unkeless and Scott Morgan for Clubhouse Pictures; Nicole King and Stephanie Laing (Vice Principals). Matt Spicer (Ingrid Goes West) will executive produce and direct the first episode.

Dollface is set to begin production in 2019. The comedy follows a young woman who - after being dumped by her longtime boyfriend - must deal with her own imagination in order to literally and metaphorically re-enter the world of women, and rekindle the female friendships she left behind. The series marks Hulu's third project with ABC Signature Studios following the recent pick-up of the highly-anticipated Little Fires Everywhere, as well as the first joint TV production project for LuckyChap Entertainment and Clubhouse Pictures, who together recently produced the award-winning film I, Tonya and who are in active pre-production on the untitled Birds of Prey film at Warner Bros.

truTV has announced the season two premiere date for its highly anticipated - and completely unapologetic - comedy series I'm Sorry from creator and writer Andrea Savage (Veep, Episodes, Sleeping with Other People). Hailed by critics as "brazenly funny" and "razor-sharp," the scripted series follows seemingly confident and together comedy writer, wife and mom Andrea (played by Savage), who comically exposes her inner immaturity and neuroses as life throws situations no one could have prepared her for. This season, Andrea lands herself in new cringeworthy scenarios as she questions her theoretical market value as a prostitute, learns the downsides to having a child that can read, and discovers that comedy bits can sometimes go too far. Through it all, she is joined by her husband Mike (Tom Everett Scott), their inquisitive daughter Amelia (Olive Petrucci), and her divorced parents (Kathy Baker and Martin Mull).

Joining the cast in guest-starring roles for the series' second season are Adam Scott (Big Little Lies), Lennon Parham (Playing House), June Diane Raphael (Grace and Frankie), Scott Aukerman (Comedy Bang! Welcome to SitcomsOnline Digest! Halloween is past us, so that means we're officially into sweeps month (which may not be quite the huge deal it used to be in the streaming media era, but it hasn't been totally diminished) and before you know it, we'll be talking about Christmas programming and marathons. In fact, Hallmark Channel is already there! Today, we've got news about the renewal of a Netflix series, more Step by Step on DVD (side note: DVD releases have slowed down so much this year that this appears to be the only older sitcom that will be released on DVD for all of November and December, months that used to be very busy), and more. Let's get going!

It's time for another edition of Fri-Yay! That means we will take a look back on some sitcom happenings in recent days or weeks or other fun sitcomy stuff. It's a sitcom lover's paradise! Happy Fri-Yay!

It's no secret that the past two or three years have been chock full of sitcom reboots. Starting with Fuller House and continuing with shows like Will and Grace, Roseanne and now Murphy Brown, not to mention rebooted dramas like Gilmore Girls, The X-Files and Twin Peaks, reboot culture has been alive and well. This fall was no exception. With a rebooted Charmed and the return of Murphy Brown with its original cast, not to mention Roseanne spin-off The Conners, reboots have marched on - with no end in sight. And yet, I'd argue this fall saw the speckle wear off reboots a bit for the first time.

The biggest reason for this was the relative thud of the Murphy Brown reboot. Murphy premiered to an OK-but-not-outstanding 1.0 in the 18-49 demo. It's remained mostly steady from there, but it sheds most of lead-in Mom's audience and is barely outperforming marginal rookie Happy Together. It's certainly not up to the levels of say, the big Will and Grace and Roseanne reboots last year. But speaking of those shows...Will & Grace itself has gone from rock solid hit to marginal performer itself, averaging a 0.9 in the 18-49 demo this season (it premiered to over a 3.0, and averaged in the high 1's for most of last season.) Its performing similarly to other NBC comedies Superstore and The Good Place - all shows are solid tentpoles, but not exactly huge ratings hits. And, of course, Roseanne's reboot scored sky high ratings but ended disastrously after Roseanne Barr posted racist comments on Twitter, although spin-off The Conners continues to perform fairly well (if not at Roseanne reboot levels.) Drama-wise, the Charmed reboot on The CW got off to a decent start, but has been slowly losing audience each week. Reboots, for now, are still reliable performers, but the hype does seem to be wearing off of them. Now, perhaps part of this is the overall decline of broadcast ratings this fall (it's been a really terrible fall for broadcast TV, with nearly everything down double digits) but given the drama and backlash over the Roseanne reboot and the general "meh" reception to Will and Grace and Murphy Brown this season, it does have me wondering if this trend is built to last.

It was a sunshine day at The Brady Bunch house in Los Angeles as six of the legendary sitcom's original cast members came together for the first time in nearly 15 years to kick-off a full-scale overhaul of the world-famous home and begin production on HGTV's newest renovation series, A Very Brady Renovation (w.t.). TV siblings Barry Williams (Greg), Maureen McCormick (Marcia), Christopher Knight (Peter), Eve Plumb (Jan), Mike Lookinland (Bobby) and Susan Olsen (Cindy) gathered with Jonathan and Drew Scott (Property Brothers), Mina Starsiak and Karen E Laine (Good Bones), siblings Leanne and Steve Ford (Restored by the Fords), Jasmine Roth (Hidden Potential) and Lara Spencer (Flea Market Flip) for an on-camera walk-through of the home. As one of the biggest programming events that HGTV has ever undertaken, the renovation of The Brady Bunch house will feature additional surprise celebrity guests. It is scheduled to premiere in September 2019.

Stirring up social media buzz from fans and A-listers alike, the upcoming series will showcase the famous house as it gets a '70s-inspired rehab that's sure to have everyone saying, "far out!" The Brady Bunch, a popular family sitcom that ran for five seasons in the early 1970s, is widely recognized as a hallmark of American television. Its success led to multiple spin-off series, specials and feature films.

Netflix has picked up BoJack Horseman for a 6th season! Will Arnett voices BoJack, the failed legendary 90's sitcom star from the favorite family sitcom Horsin' Around, who has been trying to find his way through a muddle of self-loathing, whisky and failed relationships. Now, in the presence of his human sidekick Todd (Aaron Paul) and his feline agent and ex-paramour Princess Carolyn (Amy Sedaris), BoJack is primed for his comeback...

Created by Raphael Bob-Waksberg. The series is Executive Produced by Raphael Bob-Waksberg, Steven A. Cohen and Noel Bright. Will Arnett (The Millers, Arrested Development) and Aaron Paul (Breaking Bad) also serve as Executive Producers. Holy chalupas! Fuller House Season 4 is coming to Netflix on Friday, December 14. Netflix announces Friends from College Season 2 will launch globally on January 11, 2019. Season 2 of Friends from College follows six Harvard alums in their 40s living in New York City and the complicated relationships they have with each other. It's been a year since Ethan & Sam's affair was exposed to the 4 other friends - including Lisa, Ethan's wife - and the friend group is still fractured. No one has heard from Lisa, Ethan has been living a repentant year of writing a YA novel, and Sam has been trying to repair her marriage with her husband Jon.

But with Max's wedding coming up, the friends won't be able to avoid each other much longer. Between the engagement party, bachelor party, and wedding, the six will have to overcome the destruction in their past and figure out how to function as a friend group again. Will they be able to move forward or will they regress back to their old destructive patterns once again? From creators Nicholas Stoller & Francesca Delbanco, Friends from College stars Keegan-Michael Key (Ethan), Cobie Smulders (Lisa), Annie Parisse (Sam), Nat Faxon (Nick), Fred Savage (Max) and Jae Suh Park (Marianne). CBS All Access announced a two-season order for Star Trek: Lower Decks, a new half-hour animated comedy series developed by Emmy Award winner Mike McMahan (Rick and Morty). The series will focus on the support crew serving on one of Starfleet's least important ships and will be produced by CBS Eye Animation Productions, CBS Television Studios' new animation arm, Secret Hideout; and Roddenberry Entertainment. FYI...On Wednesday, November 14, Murphy Brown celebrates 30 years since its original television debut. To commemorate the anniversary, Antenna TV will air "Murphy at 30" a full-day marathon of original Murphy Brown episodes. Beginning at 5am ET and running through 11:30pm ET on November 14, Antenna TV's "Murphy at 30" marathon features 37 classic water-cooler episodes. Murphy's sharp wit, combined with the rest of the original FYI team, make for a nostalgic day of laughs. See where it all began on Antenna TV, Tribune Broadcasting's multicast entertainment network.
