Netflix announced that the critically acclaimed, heartfelt Arctic comedy, North of North, has been renewed for a second season. North of North was Netflix's first series commissioned from Canada and is a co-production with the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC), in partnership with APTN.

A young Inuk woman wants to build a new future for herself after a spontaneous - and extremely public - exit from her marriage. But it won't be easy in a small Arctic town where everybody knows your business. ALF follows the adventures of Gordon Shumway, a wise-cracking alien from the planet Melmac who crash lands into the garage of the Tanner family. Created by Tom Patchett (The Carol Burnett Show) and Paul Fusco (Puppeteer & Voice of ALF), the popular sitcom is a staple of 1980's pop culture and has developed a cult following in the years since.

HBO has picked up the half-hour comedy, The Chair Company, starring, written and executive produced by Tim Robinson and written and executive produced by Zach Kanin. Andrew DeYoung directed and executive produced the pilot. After an embarrassing incident at work, a man (Robinson) finds himself investigating a far-reaching conspiracy.

In addition to Robinson as William Ronald Trosper, series regulars include Lake Bell (Harley Quinn, Mother Couch) as Barb Trosper, Sophia Lillis (It, I Am Not Okay With This) as Natalie Trosper, Will Price (After the Hunt, A Complete Unknown) as Seth Trosper, Joseph Tudisco (A Brooklyn Love Story, FBI) as Mike Santini. Shout! TV Celebrates 25 Years of Farscape; AMC Acquires Snowpiercer

Shout! TV will celebrate the 25th anniversary of the cult-classic television series Farscape (Sci-Fi Channel from 1999-2003) with a marathon airing on Tuesday, March 19 on Shout! TV and the 24/7 Farscape channel beginning at 11 am PT / 2 pm ET. The marathon will feature an exclusive introduction from executive producer Brian Henson and include all-new interview segments with Farscape stars Ben Browder (John Crichton) and Gigi Edgley (Chiana). AMC Networks announced that it has acquired the exclusive U.S. linear and streaming rights to all four seasons of the post-apocalyptic drama series Snowpiercer, formerly aired on TNT. The first three seasons of the critically acclaimed drama will stream on AMC+ later this year leading up to the series' season four premiere on AMC and AMC+ in early 2025. Set more than seven years after the world has become a frozen wasteland, Snowpiercer centers on the remnants of humanity who inhabit a perpetually moving train, with 1001 cars, that circles the globe. Class warfare, social injustice and the politics of survival play out in this riveting television adaptation based on the graphic novel series by Jacques Lob and Jean-Marc Rochette, and the film from Oscar(R)-winner Bong Joon Ho (Parasite). ALF Coming to Shout! Factory TV; HBO Sets Premiere Date for The Baby, a Horror Comedy Series

Ha! The entire ALF universe is coming all in one place for the very first time! All 102 episodes of the classic '80s live-action series ALF, 26 episodes of ALF: The Animated Series, 21 episodes of the animated series ALF Tales, and TV movie Project: ALF are all coming to Shout! Factory TV on March 25. ALF follows the adventures of Gordon Shumway, a furry, wise-cracking alien from the planet Melmac who crash lands into the garage of the Tanner family. The Tanners offer him a home and give him the nickname ALF, short for "Alien Life Form." Created by Tom Patchett (The Carol Burnett Show) and Paul Fusco (also the puppeteer for ALF), the half-hour sitcom rose to popularity in the late 1980s cementing itself in the pop culture zeitgeist. ALF previously was on Tubi (Fox's streaming service), but that only included the sitcom.

The HBO original eight-episode limited series The Baby, from creators Siân Robins-Grace and Lucy Gaymer, debuts on Sunday, April 24 from 10:30-11:00 p.m. ET/PT on HBO and will be available to stream on HBO Max. A horror comedy co-production with SKY, and produced by SISTER and Proverbial Pictures, The Baby presents a darkly funny, raw examination of motherhood, from the perspective of a woman who doesn't want to be one. Michelle De Swarte (The Duchess) stars as 38-year-old Natasha, who is furious that her closest friends are all having babies. But when she is unexpectedly landed with a baby of her own, her life dramatically implodes. Controlling, manipulative, but incredibly cute, the baby twists Natasha's life into a surreal horror show. As she discovers the true extent of the baby's deadly nature, Natasha makes increasingly desperate attempts to get rid of it. She doesn't want a baby. But the baby definitely wants her.

The series also stars Amira Ghazalla (The Rhythm Section) as Mrs. Eaves, the 70-year-old enigma who has spent the last fifty years living out of her car and seems to be everywhere the Baby is, and Amber Grappy as Bobbi, Natasha's younger sister, a children's magician who would love nothing more than to be a parent, to give love and to receive it. Additional cast includes Patrice Naiambana (Spectre) as Natasha's father Lyle, Sinéad Cusack (Marcella) as her mother Barbara. black-ish Returns with Special Episodes on Election; Shout! Factory TV and Pluto TV Launches The Carol Burnett Show Channel

The Johnsons and black-ish return to ABC with a special one-hour television special on Sunday, Oct. 4 from 10:00-11:00 p.m. EDT on ABC. The two back-to-back episodes, which will air ahead of the official season seven premiere, will follow the Johnsons as they navigate the upcoming election, with Junior (Marcus Scribner) embarking on his journey as a first-time voter and Dre (Anthony Anderson) launching an exploration into local politics. The special will be presented in part as an animated episode. Oscar® winner Matthew A. Cherry (Hair Love) is set to direct. An official premiere date for the highly anticipated seventh season will be announced shortly (airdate and timing are subject to the change due to the NBA Finals schedule).

In "Election Special Pt. 1," (10:00-10:30 p.m. EDT), Junior is excited for his first time voting but discovers he has been purged from the voter polls so he does a deep dive into why – trying to understand the systems in place for voter registration. “Election Special Pt. 1" is directed by Matthew A. Cherry and written by Eric Horsted. Then, in a special animated episode, "Election Special Pt. 2," (10:30-11:00 p.m. EDT), Dre's colleague Stevens (Peter Mackenzie) makes an ill-advised decision to run for Congress, so Dre enlists his family's help and campaigns against him but gets caught up with fundraising and private interest groups. "Election Special Pt. 2" is directed by Matthew A. Cherry and written by Graham Towers & Ben Deeb. Decades Network Acquires Dick Cavett Show for February 2016; High School Musical Stars Reunite for 10 Year Event

DecadesNetwork, the multicast TV network from Weigel Broadcasting Co. and CBS Television Stations, announced the return of the critically acclaimed The Dick Cavett Show back to broadcast television. Shout! Factory, through its relationship with Dick Cavett's Daphne Productions, has granted exclusive domestic broadcast rights to Decades Network. Early episodes of The Dick Cavett Show are set to air on Decades Network beginning February 2016. Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Tisdale, Lucas Grabeel, Corbin Bleu and Monique Coleman -- the stars of High School Musical -- reunite to celebrate the global sensation's 10-year anniversary during a special telecast of the movie Wednesday, January 20 at 8:00pm EST on Disney Channel. The group taped the nostalgic interstitial segments on Sunday at a high school gymnasium in suburban Los Angeles. Their fellow star Zac Efron will join the telecast in a pre-taped message to High School Musical fans. Radio Disney's Ernie D also interviewed the cast, to be seen during a Radio Disney Insider presented Thursday, January 21 on Disney Channel and the Radio Disney app.

Subsequent telecasts of the movie and its sequel, High School Musical 2, will be presented Thursday, January 21 and Sunday, January 24 on Disney Channel. Freeform will present High School Musical on Saturday, January 23 (4:30pm EST) and Sunday, January 24 (2:00pm EST). How I Met Your Mother Moves to TV Land on June 29; 90s Series Sisters Finally Coming to DVD

As we hinted the other day, a series is moving to TV Land and we can reveal what that is now. Wait for it...How I Met Your Mother will move from Nick at Nite to TV Land starting Monday, June 29. The sitcom is slated to air weeknights from 8-9pm and 1-2am, along with late night blocks on weekends from 1-7am in its first week. Nick at Nite will replace How I Met Your Mother with two airings of Everybody Loves Raymond (approx. 2:30am-3:30am). Back to TV Land, HIMYM replaces a few airings of Gilligan's Island from 8-9pm, while Old Christine moves from 1-2am to 2-3am. No other schedule changes will be made, but keep it right here for continued updates.

Shout! Factory has announced a September 15 release of Sisters: Seasons One and Two in a 7-disc set. In demand by fans for years, this is the first time the beloved show has been released on DVD, and the set includes a new 3-part interview with the show's creators. A&E Network has ordered twenty episodes of the acclaimed drama series, Bates Motel from Universal Television. New episodes of Bates Motel will begin production later this year and will air over two seasons, starting in 2016. Bates Motel has garnered a truly loyal fan base over the past three seasons. Something doesn't feel right, but spite of his instincts, Romero finds himself continually drawn back to the Bates family -- and to Norma. Emma (Olivia Cooke) also determined to find out what is happening to Norman becomes more emboldened, fearless, goes after the things she wants. Familiar face, Bradley (Nicola Peltz) returns to surprise the family and digs up old memories.

• Shout! Factory has (somewhat) quietly launched Shout! Factory TV, a new online streaming service featuring several classic movies and TV series, including Dennis the Menace, Father Knows Best, The Mary Tyler Moore Show, The Dick Van Dyke Show, Laverne & Shirley, and others. While many of these are already available on other streaming services, this service is ad-supported and free, and there is even a Roku app (although it has been reported that not all of the content can be found on the Roku app). • Annie Potts is looking to get back into a sitcom once again, and a pilot at ABC starring comedian Fortune Feimster and executive produced by Matt Hubbard, Tina Fey, and Robert Carlock could have her playing a southern belle (again). (Hollywood Reporter)
• Tomorrow night's SNL 40th Anniversary Special just got even bigger in the past few days, with NBC now giving it three and a half hours and will air 8-11:30 PM. (Deadline)
• Reboots of classic series have been big lately, but here is an interesting one: Amazon Studios is planning to reboot Sigmund and the Sea Monsters, with the help of Sid and Marty Krofft. (io9)
• Your hipster friends should (ironically) be thrilled to hear that Portlandia has been renewed for a sixth and seventh season. (SitcomsOnline)
• Weigel Broadcasting is now taking MeTV to the radio, with MeTV FM in Chicago. The radio station will air a classic hits (the new name for "oldies" as it has evolved to include the 80s) format. Technically, the station will be on the low-power TV channel 6, although audio from channel 6 can be heard on the FM dial on 87.7. (SitcomsOnline)

HOME MEDIA HIGHLIGHTS

• Sometimes you want to go where everybody knows your name, and if so, you'll love what CBS has in store: Cheers - The Complete Series. Although each season has been released (as well as a complete series that shrinkwrapped all of those seasons together), this is the first time fans will be able to get every episode in one box set. It is set to be released on May 5 at a $117.99 MSRP. 
• CBS will also be re-releasing The Fugitive - The Complete Series on DVD on May 5, and it will come at a very low $79.99 MSRP.
• Mill Creek has another re-release of a Sony series in the works, and this time it is a complete series, with What's Happening!! - The Complete Series. It will be released April 21 at a $29.98 MSRP.
• Mill Creek will also be re-releasing Tour of Duty - The Complete Series on April 21, at a $44.98 MSRP.

Malin Akerman Vegas Comedy Coming to Yahoo!; All in the Family Seasons 1-4 on iTunes

Yahoo and Mandalay Sports Media have confirmed that production has begun in Las Vegas, NV on Sin City Saints, a new half-hour comedy slated for release this winter. Conceived by Mandalay Sports Media, SCS follows the triumphs, travails and transgressions of Las Vegas' brand-new pro basketball franchise. Andrew Santino (ABC's Mixology) has been cast as Jake Tullus, the Saints' unpredictable and charismatic owner, who made his fortune as an internet disruptor in the field of Big Data. Malin Akerman (ABC's Trophy Wife) will star opposite Santino as Dusty Halford, a Stanford-educated lawyer who is the special assistant to the Commissioner, and Tom Arnold (Gardens of the Night, Hit and Run, Sons of Anarchy) will star as Kevin Freeman, a private casino host who happens to know all the city's secrets. The eight-episode run began production last week in Las Vegas at The Orleans Hotel and Casino. Mike Tollin will executive produce alongside Chris Case and Bryan Gordon who will also direct. Fred Savage (Modern Family, Happy Endings) is also on board to direct two episodes. Rounding out the cast is; B.K. Cannon (Switched at Birth), Justin Chon (Twilight), Keith Powers (Pretty Little Liars), Rick Fox (The Game) and former NBA player Baron Davis.

Shout! Factory announced that one of the most iconic and groundbreaking television shows from Sony Pictures Television, All in the Family, is now available on iTunes at iTunes.com/NormanLear from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment. As of yesterday, Seasons 1 through 4 of Norman Lear's All in the Family are available on Digital HD for the first time, featuring all 85 original episodes from Seasons 1 through 4. iTunes will also offer Digital HD bonus content, including the original pilot, "Those Were The Days," along with the alternative pilot, and two featurettes on the history and making of the series. Few television shows have left such a substantial and enduring footprint on American popular culture as Norman Lear's masterpiece, All in the Family. The revolutionary series looked at the state of the world through the eyes of an argumentative, but loving family and introduced some of the most fully-dimensional characters in television history. The jokes had a million targets, touching on race, politics, sex and human foibles, but the humor was firmly rooted in the characters of Archie, Edith, Mike and Gloria. Produced and developed by legendary TV producer Norman Lear (Sanford and Son; One Day at a Time; The Jeffersons; Good Times; Maude; Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman), All in the Family premiered on Jan. 12, 1971. The show focused on a middle-class family living in Queens, NY in the 1970's, starring Carroll O'Connor as Archie Bunker, Jean Stapleton as Edith Bunker, Rob Reiner as liberal son-in-law Mike "Meathead" Stivic, and Sally Struthers as daughter Gloria.
